My Husband is Suspicious - Episode 28
I was also curious about the identity of the person I saw at the cafe earlier.
Thinking about that person made Eleanor feel unwell again.
‘Who on earth is he?’
But no matter how much she thought about it, he was someone she had never seen before. He had blonde hair, Dreid locks, and striking blue eyes.
Blue eyes…
Come to think of it, he did resemble Dreid a little. She hadn’t noticed it then, but now that she thought about it, it became even clearer. As Eleanor thought this, she pressed her ear to the listening device.
They said it was a top-tier hotel, but she could even hear the sound of something hitting the wall with a thud. She felt like it was poorly constructed, no matter how she thought about it.
Eleanor now acted carefully so that such sounds could no longer be heard.
“……”
No sound could be heard from around the listening device.
“Is he asleep?”
But he had gone in earlier, so she didn’t think he would be asleep already. Moreover, Dreid wasn’t someone who went to bed early. Eleanor turned her head to check the time. It was still too early for Dreid to be asleep.
Eleanor pressed her ear to the listening device again. Still, nothing could be heard. She didn’t know if he was sitting or lying down, but at any rate, she couldn’t even hear his voice. He was probably alone.
As soon as that thought occurred, Eleanor felt a strange sense of relief. She found herself amusing. She had felt so betrayed by Dreid earlier, yet now she felt relieved.
Her heart wouldn’t do as she willed.
‘Are my feelings for Dreid still lingering?’
But Eleanor didn’t think too deeply. Whether they lingered or not, she wanted to know everything about him now.

Eleanor slowly opened her eyes. The listening device had fallen from her hand, and it was pitch dark around her. She must have dozed off.
Indeed, Dreid had been too quiet earlier, so Eleanor hadn’t gained anything significant. Just in case, she had tried the listening device again, but Dreid was also quiet at this hour, likely asleep.
Eleanor checked the clock and got up from her seat. As soon as she stood up, the blanket slipped off her body. She had no memory of covering herself.
‘Mackiv?’
Eleanor carefully folded the blanket and placed it nearby. Then she found the bed and lay down. It was just as she closed her eyes, about to fall asleep.
The window flashed, and the surroundings suddenly brightened and then darkened. Eleanor was startled and sat bolt upright. At that moment, a loud thunderclap echoed.
Eleanor slowly got out of bed and looked at the window. The sky, which had been clear until evening, was now raining. The raindrops were quite heavy, splattering against the windowpane. Eleanor didn’t know if it was a shower or if it was about to rain incessantly from now on.
Lightning occasionally struck the dark night sky, accompanied by thunder. Eleanor looked outside for a moment before lying back down in bed.
The day felt unusually long. Something felt slightly changed within the span of a single day. Eleanor didn’t bother to think about what it was. Sleep was overwhelming her.
When she opened her eyes, it was quiet again, just like last night. Eleanor looked around for a moment. The tracker and the listening device were on the nightstand beside the bed. Eleanor got out of bed in one go. The tracker was unchanged, just like yesterday.
That meant Dreid was still in the next room. Eleanor carefully pressed the listening device against the wall. It was quiet.
She checked the time; it was indeed early morning.
‘Still, he should be awake by now.’
Dreid didn’t sleep much. He always woke up earlier than Eleanor, either watching her wake up, preparing food himself, or sometimes working in his study.
Eleanor checked the listening device for a few minutes, then removed it.
This time too, there was no progress. Eleanor remained calm and then inadvertently looked around. Come to think of it, the room was also excessively quiet.
‘Has Mackiv not woken up yet?’
Eleanor got up and glanced towards where Mackiv was. Mackiv’s magic orbs were vaguely visible. Though not clearly seen due to the furniture, he seemed to still be asleep.
Suddenly, her stomach churned. Eleanor clutched her stomach and turned around. She remembered her breakfast, which she never skipped.
Since Mackiv seemed to be asleep, Eleanor left the room alone. She didn’t want to wake someone who was sleeping, and she didn’t know what he was wearing while asleep, so she found it difficult to head to the dining area.
Moreover, she didn’t know if Mackiv ate breakfast or not.
Just in case, Eleanor carefully looked around. Fortunately, Dreid was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps because it was the room right next door, she was extremely cautious. Eleanor quickly scanned her surroundings again and then went downstairs.
There were quite a few people in the dining hall. Even in the early morning, ladies and men dressed in formal attire were talking to each other while eating.
Eleanor looked around and sat at an empty table. The seat was right by the window, offering a view of the garden in front of the hotel. The garden was beautiful, but the surroundings were dark. It seemed the rain from last night hadn’t stopped, as it was drizzling under gloomy clouds.
Eleanor sat down and stared blankly out the window.
Soon, a waiter brought Eleanor her food. It was quite a generous spread for breakfast.
“Enjoy your meal.”
As the waiter said with a smile, Eleanor thanked him and picked up her fork. Eleanor occasionally checked her tracker while eating. She was worried Dreid might leave for another location.
It was while she was in the middle of her meal. Some people left, and a few people sat at the table next to Eleanor’s. They seemed to be here for business, looking at newspapers and talking busily.
“I heard His Highness the Crown Prince’s health has suddenly worsened.”
The tables were quite close, so their voices carried well.
“Is that why he came to the villa here?”
“I don’t know. The Emperor’s health is also poor, and now the Crown Prince’s health has suddenly deteriorated.”
They glanced around. Eleanor continued to eat, pretending not to pay attention. They didn’t seem to perceive Eleanor as a particularly dangerous person, so they continued their conversation.
“It seems the Emperor’s illegitimate child has made quite a few moves.”
“What moves did they make for the Crown Prince’s health to suddenly worsen?”
“I don’t know either. What’s clear is that he seems to have met that person yesterday.”
“Are you saying that person did something to His Highness?”
“I think it’s highly probable. Something is bound to change soon, that’s for sure.”
“Hmm…”
They talked for a while longer. Then, a waiter approached and said something, and they quickly got up and left.
The Crown Prince’s health has worsened too?
Eleanor chewed her food slowly and thought. It was strangely concerning. At first, it hadn’t bothered her much, but now it was overtly bothering her.
It seemed like it had nothing to do with her, yet coincidences kept happening. It felt like someone was teaching her something she absolutely had to know.
The Emperor’s illegitimate child.
The Crown Prince whose health suddenly declined.
‘What on earth is the connection?’
First, it was said that the Emperor’s illegitimate child owned all the shares of Finn Bank. At that moment, Eleanor strangely thought of Dreid.
Specifically, Dreid at Finn Bank. Dreid, who moved naturally through a place guarded by armed men.
‘Why am I suddenly thinking of Dreid?’
Was her sharp intuition kicking in? Or…
‘Could it be Dreid?’
That is, what if Dreid were the Emperor’s illegitimate child?
But it didn’t make sense. If that were the case, why would he hide the truth from Eleanor?
Of course, illegitimate children were somewhat discriminated against in society. But even so, there was no reason for him to hide it from her.
‘I’m not that cruel a person.’
If Dreid had revealed he was the Emperor’s illegitimate child, she might have been a little surprised, but Eleanor would have accepted it soon enough. It wouldn’t have caused any particular problems in her life. Rather, if he were the Emperor’s illegitimate child, it would be a position from which he could receive benefits. Unlike ordinary illegitimate children.
Occasionally, there were those who, claiming to be the illegitimate child of royalty, subtly enjoyed the attention in high society. Nobles generally tended to elevate royalty. Even if they were illegitimate children, they had royal blood flowing through them, so nobles couldn’t treat them carelessly.
Moreover, if he were the Emperor’s illegitimate child, he would be someone who couldn’t be treated carelessly even in high society. Of course, he might receive glares from the Empress and a few nobles, but he would attract considerable attention from other nobles.
‘Is Dreid really the Emperor’s illegitimate child?’
Dreid, whom she saw at Finn Bank, seemed to hold a rather high position. But that didn’t mean he truly owned shares there. The documents she had seen before contained no information about Finn Bank.
Just then, a waiter approached.
“Is there anything else you need?”
Eleanor was startled and looked at the waiter, then shook her head. She then looked back at the table. Since she had eaten a fair amount, the plates were nearly empty. Eleanor got up from her seat. Her mind was too cluttered; she didn’t want to sit there any longer.
Even on her way back to the room, Eleanor didn’t take her eyes off the tracker. The numbers remained the same.
“This can’t be right.”
Something felt off. Dreid staying in the room like this was strange.
‘Is he perhaps sick?’
But his demeanor yesterday was far from that of someone sick.
‘Then, surely he hasn’t figured it out, has he?’
It was unsettling, but there was a possibility. Dreid was always very perceptive. If he had noticed, there was a chance Dreid had intentionally left the pin clip and left the room. The thought itself made her feel a sense of futility.
She was almost at the room. Eleanor inadvertently checked the tracker. The numbers had changed slightly.
Eleanor hurried into the room. If Mackiv was still in the room, she intended to calculate the numbers immediately to find Dreid’s location.
Fearing the numbers might change again, Eleanor didn’t take her eyes off the tracker and said,
“Mackiv, the location seems to have shifted a bit, could you calculate.”
Eleanor trailed off. The atmosphere in the room felt strange. She slowly raised her head. She saw a familiar back.
