My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 8
It seemed her uncontrollable trembling pleased the woman behind her, and in her panic, Chao Wan only heard a soft sound by her ear, whether a laugh or a sigh, she couldn’t tell.
The floral scent in the air grew increasingly intense, and the arm wrapped around her waist tightened its hold.
Suddenly, a cool, soft sensation pressed against the nape of her neck.
Caught off guard, Chao Wan’s ankles weakened, causing her to stumble, but the woman held her firmly in her embrace.
Her body trembled with a sense of danger, tears instinctively welling in her eyes.
Ji Tanyue remained still, her lips merely resting against the nape of Chao Wan’s neck, yet it was enough to render her powerless to resist.
It was ticklish, yet unbearably electrifying.
Her entire body felt like kindling set ablaze, the slow-burning flames spreading leisurely, her cheeks burning as if on fire, leaving her with no strength to push away the woman’s arm still wrapped around her waist.
Chao Wan’s voice trembled as she softly protested, “Is that enough?”
She hadn’t even agreed to it.
Yet she didn’t dare pull away.
The person behind her offered no reply, closing her eyes as her long lashes brushed against the sensitive skin of Chao Wan’s neck, sending shivers down her spine.
Perhaps there was also an almost imperceptible sigh of satisfaction.
After a long while, the warmth gradually receded.
Ji Tanyue released her hold. “That’s enough.”
She took a few steps back, her house slippers matching Chao Wan’s in style.
But her gaze remained fixed on Chao Wan.
Chao Wan collapsed onto the woolen rug spread out beside the bed, her body trembling, her breath still scorching hot.
When she looked up at Ji Tanyue, her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, her lips bitten red.
Ji Tanyue subtly clenched her fingers, her expression calm as she looked down at the figure on the floor, yet her eyes seemed to conceal a stormy turbulence.
“Get some good rest tonight.” The voice was hoarse yet gentle.
She adjusted the air purification knob in the room, informed Chao Wan of the locations of the daily necessities and suppressant patches, and then left.
Chao Wan sat on the carpet, staring blankly as the figure in the dark, flowing dress disappeared beyond the door before she lowered her head.
Tears fell silently, soaking into the carpet and vanishing without a trace.
They were both Omegas, why did Ji Tanyue get to bully others?
Listening carefully as the footsteps outside faded away, she sniffled with grievance, stumbled to her feet, and went to find the suppressant patches.
After applying them, the surging heat in her body finally subsided.
Leaning against the wall in a daze for a while, Chao Wan tiptoed over and tried to turn the room’s door handle.
A heavy, muffled thud echoed.
The door didn’t open as expected, it seemed to have been locked from the outside.
Chao Wan’s fingers curled inward, and she returned to the bed in a daze, sitting down helplessly.
She knew it. Since Ji Tanyue had brought her to this desolate villa, she must have had some ulterior motives.
So, this was what “get some good rest” really meant.
The room was fully equipped. Pushing open the transparent partition door, she found a washbasin stocked with a complete range of daily necessities, some of which were even the brands Chao Wan used regularly.
After everything that had happened, it was already very late. She washed up distractedly, turned off the light, and slipped under the covers, which carried an unfamiliar scent.
The duck-down quilt was soft and comfortable, but the chill around her never dissipated.
Chao Wan closed her eyes, curling her body into a ball as if seeking a sense of security.
Unable to sleep, she took out her fully charged phone and began scrolling through it.
Skipping past her aunt’s harsh messages, Fu Xi’s stood out clearly.
[Where have you been, my dear?]
[It’s okay if the audition didn’t go well. I’ll take you out for something nice to eat tomorrow to lift your spirits.]
Chao Wan’s eyes welled up, and she buried her face in the blanket, typing on the screen with her fingertips.
But after thinking it over, she deleted the long paragraph she had written and simply said she was at a friend’s place.
It was already very late, and she didn’t want to worry Fu Xi.
Unexpectedly, a new message popped up almost instantly.
[Which friend?]
[Never mind, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow. Send me your location.]
Chao Wan bit her lip, thinking. Remembering the locked door, a secret sense of panic surged within her, a desperate urge to escape.
She sent her location.
Fu Xi exclaimed, “Your friend is richer than me,” and offered a few more comforting words about the audition before they bid each other goodnight and ended the conversation.
Chao Wan stared at her phone for a long while before finally turning it off and quietly burying herself under the covers.
She no longer understood Ji Tanyue’s true intentions.
She had locked her in the room but hadn’t forced her to do anything, even speaking softly to explain how to use the facilities.
She restricted her freedom but left her with a phone to communicate with the outside world.
Ji Tanyue’s character was like the obscure shadows lingering in her eyes.
On the surface, the woman smiled, her voice gentle and soothing, but no one could guess what lay beneath.
Chao Wan closed her eyes silently.
Her thoughts were soon overtaken by drowsiness, and she drifted off.
She slept restlessly that night. When she woke, her eyes were sore, and her hands and feet felt cold.
She sat up awkwardly in bed, smoothing the unfamiliar silk nightgown, when she suddenly noticed the locked door was now open.
By the floor-to-ceiling window, the woman had approached at some point and was drawing the curtains.
“Awake?”
Ji Tanyue didn’t turn around, and her tone betrayed no particular emotion.
“You can go downstairs for breakfast now.”
The assistant was waiting quietly outside the door, meeting Chao Wan’s flustered gaze with a polite nod.
She flipped through the small notebook in her hand, her voice calm and methodical as she informed Ji Tanyue of the day’s schedule.
Ji Tanyue acknowledged with a simple “I know,” then turned to adjust the collar of her trench coat.
Her gaze fell on Chao Wan, and her voice paused slightly, a faint smile appearing at the corners of her lips.
“If you need anything, you can speak to the housekeeper here.”
Chao Wan lowered her eyes and gave a soft “Mm.”
“Additionally, I hope to have your answer by tonight,” the woman said as she approached her.
Cool fingertips brushed aside the sleep-tousled strands of hair at Chao Wan’s temple.
“About that matter.”
Chao Wan stiffened slightly.
Ji Tanyue withdrew her hand, her eyes sweeping over the flushed skin beneath Chao Wan’s robe. She pressed her lips together and quickly averted her gaze.
Then, she left the room with her assistant.
Silence fell once more in the room.
Sitting dazedly on the edge of the bed for a while, Chao Wan felt a pang of discomfort in her stomach from not having eaten the night before.
With no other choice, she followed Ji Tanyue’s suggestion and left the room.
Descending the spiral staircase, she found a long dining table on the first floor set with several steaming breakfast dishes, elegantly arranged on fine plates.
Beside them was a mobile phone, with a note tucked underneath that read, “For contacting the housekeeper.”
Chao Wan forced down a bowl of shrimp wontons without tasting them, a flicker of hope stirring in her heart as she hurried to the entrance to try the door handle.
Her spirits sank once again.
It was still locked and wouldn’t budge.
Feeling lost, she returned to the sofa, a chill seeping into her bones.
In this vast villa, she was completely alone.
There were undoubtedly surveillance cameras in the villa, so she didn’t dare touch anything. Reluctantly, she retreated back to the bedroom from the previous night.
Only here did she feel a slight sense of familiarity.
The villa complex was lush with greenery, and the midday sun filtered through the emerald leaves, filling the room with a vibrant, lively glow.
But Chao Wan couldn’t muster any enthusiasm.
There wasn’t much time left before Fu Xi was supposed to pick her up.
If she couldn’t get the door open, how would she explain the “friendship” she had claimed the night before?
As she pondered, Chao Wan’s eyes suddenly widened.
Perhaps because she needed to eat breakfast, Ji Tanyue hadn’t locked her in the bedroom today.
Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way out in this overwhelmingly empty house.
Chao Wan tiptoed out of the room.
After thinking it over, she turned her attention to the room directly across on the same floor, the bedroom where Ji Tanyue had slept the night before.
Could there be a spare key there?
Moving as stealthily as a thief, she approached the room, swallowing nervously before quietly pushing open the unlocked door.
After a brief inspection, she noted that the room’s layout was identical to the one she had stayed in.
However, Ji Tanyue’s quarters felt particularly cold and austere.
The room faced away from the sun, lacking the bright light of Chao Wan’s room. Despite the luxurious decor, it offered her no sense of warmth.
It felt as if a layer of gray gauze had been draped over everything, suffocating and oppressive.
Chao Wan stepped inside in a daze.
The room was dominated by muted shades of gray and white. The bed was neatly made, and a black violin case leaned against the wall.
On a small nanmu table nearby were some everyday cosmetics and a white porcelain cup.
Beside the cup stood several unlabeled white medicine bottles.
Had Ji Tanyue been ill recently?
Chao Wan unconsciously pressed her lips together.
Unfortunately, after staring for a long time, she still had no idea what the medications were for.
Time was running out, and she suddenly remembered her original purpose: to search for a spare key in the room.
Although she wasn’t sure if there was anything inside, Chao Wan still crouched down and carefully pulled open the drawer.
The drawer had three layers, but unfortunately, the bottom two were locked.
Chao Wan had no choice but to try pulling open the first layer.
Inside were a few sheets of white paper with documents, the terms of which she couldn’t quite understand.
Apart from that, a brand-new key lay quietly on top.
Her heart nearly leaped out of her chest.
Chao Wan reached for the key, carefully holding it in her palm. Guiltily, she restored the scene of her “crime” and slipped out of the room.
Downstairs, she tentatively inserted the key into the lock.
She hadn’t held out much hope, but with a click…
The door swung open.
Chao Wan stood there in a daze, unable to believe that escaping could be so easy.
Did Ji Tanyue not actually want to keep her locked up?
Or… was the woman all bark and no bite? Were last night’s subtle displays of dominance all just a facade?
No matter what, her personal freedom had been restored.
She hadn’t felt this happy since being reborn in this life. Chao Wan couldn’t suppress the curve of her lips as she went upstairs to pack all her belongings.
Then, tiptoeing quietly, she slipped out through the front door.
The surveillance cameras silently recorded everything.
The air outside was cool and refreshing. The gloom she had felt when arriving with Ji Tanyue the night before had, at some point, quietly dissipated.
Even the failed audition and the matter with Qin Siyu seemed to fade from her mind as she stepped out of the villa.
On a whim, Chao Wan took out her phone and snapped a photo of the stone-carved fountain outside the villa, where clear water gurgled forth.
It was just a casual shot, but the composition turned out quite beautiful.
She sent it to Fu Xi.
A reply came not long after.
[I don’t want to work hard anymore.]
[Can you introduce me to your rich friend?]
Chao Wan held her phone, her eyes crinkling with a smile.
