My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 27
As the words fell, the car became utterly silent.
Chao Wan continued to press her lips together, gazing out the window, allowing Ji Tanyue’s hand to brush past her ear before it was silently withdrawn.
Unable to see the woman’s expression, she felt vaguely uneasy, but the lingering sense of grievance from earlier refused to dissipate, preventing her from yielding.
The car stopped at an intersection, the red light halting the flow of traffic.
Everything seemed to come to a standstill, the atmosphere freezing over like ice.
“Alright.” During the traffic jam, Ji Tanyue finally gave her reply, her tone flat.
There was no dissatisfaction, nor any discernible emotion.
Chao Wan’s eyes reddened slightly as she stared at the motionless traffic outside.
She was merely a plaything with a passable appearance, clumsy and inept. Ruan Rou, on the other hand, was both talented and beautiful, her professional skills were strong, and her looks and temperament were first-rate.
How could she ever compare?
Moreover, she had no right to compare. With just a beckoning finger from Ji Tanyue, she had to throw herself at her, forced to perform those shameful, unspeakable pheromone comforts.
Chao Wan’s expression darkened.
Ji Tanyue had previously mentioned her demands: before joining the crew, she had to fulfill the terms of the contract every day.
As for the contract, Chao Wan had skimmed through it hastily. Though she hadn’t fully understood most of it, she had immediately noticed the embarrassing clauses.
They were all excessive, some even making her wonder weren’t these things only for married partners to do?
The green light suddenly illuminated, and the traffic began to move.
At that moment, a voice sounded in her ear, perfectly timed.
“Are you prepared for tonight?” Ji Tanyue asked.
Chao Wan snapped out of her daze, the corners of her eyes still tinged with red. Having forgotten she was still sulking, she looked at Ji Tanyue in panic.
Meeting the woman’s gaze, now devoid of any smile, she nodded lightly, not daring to argue. “Mm… yes.”
But she hadn’t had time to memorize the contract’s contents. What exactly she was supposed to do tonight, she had no idea.
Chao Wan bit her lip, feeling lost and flustered.
…
After an hour’s drive, the car stopped at a familiar place.
Chao Wan kept her head lowered, cautiously following Ji Tanyue into the villa. Leaning against the wall, she changed into her own pair of house slippers.
But the woman in front of her didn’t seem inclined to change her shoes and enter.
The lights weren’t turned on as usual. The tall figure in the trench coat turned around, gazing quietly at Chao Wan in the dim light, her lips pressed into a tight line.
There was no one else in the room.
Chao Wan sensed a deep pressure and lowered her eyes, unsure of what to do.
Ji Tanyue was angry, angry at her earlier aloofness.
The shadow at her feet, which didn’t belong to her, gradually drew closer.
A voice came from above: “Look up.”
Chao Wan’s heart raced with panic. She took a few steps back until her back was against the corner of the wall, with no room left to retreat.
Tears welled in her eyes, her heartbeat pounding like a drum. She stared blankly as Ji Tanyue approached.
Suddenly, her chin was gently lifted. In the dim light, she heard a soft sigh, so close it felt intimate.
Then, warmth descended.
It didn’t land on her lips but instead kissed her trembling eyelashes, which quivered with fear.
Hot tears immediately spilled from her eyes, only to be silently kissed away by Ji Tanyue, her movements exceptionally gentle.
“Didn’t I tell you to look up?” Ji Tanyue rested her chin against Chao Wan’s hair. “You should have obeyed.”
Trapped in Ji Tanyue’s embrace, Chao Wan stared blankly as the woman’s pale fingers combed through her hair, plucking out a small fragment of autumn leaf debris she had brought in from outside.
Embarrassed, her cheeks flushed with heat.
She recalled the slightly yellowed sycamore trees planted in front of the villa.
The leaf must have stuck to her hair before she entered.
But was Ji Tanyue really just trying to fix her hair? The look in her eyes earlier was anything but gentle.
Her patron was the most adept at deception.
Chao Wan wiped her eyes, avoiding Ji Tanyue’s probing gaze, her heart still pounding uneasily.
Sure enough, the thin silk scarf snug against her neck loosened slightly.
A chill seeped in. Chao Wan couldn’t help but shrink her shoulders.
Ji Tanyue looked down at her, her fingertips pinching the long knot of the scarf, slowly pulling it loose.
Until the knot came undone, and the entire scarf fell softly to the ground, revealing the lingering marks on her snow-white neck.
Left two days ago, they still remained.
Ji Tanyue traced those marks, a flicker of satisfaction in her eyes.
Noticing the trembling of the body she held, shivering from the coolness of her fingertips, the woman finally revealed her first somewhat gentle smile of the evening.
She leaned down, her nose pressing against the transparent suppressant patch.
Through the thin barrier, she captured the faint, almost imperceptible scent of lychee and freesia, and the restlessness in her heart finally settled.
Only one night had passed.
But after letting her beloved little bird out of its cage, Ji Tanyue had also spent a sleepless night.
“Ms. Ji…” Chao Wan’s voice was soft as she struggled slightly, not daring to push her away.
Ji Tanyue did not comply with her wishes, maintaining her position.
A long while later, only when she felt the body in her arms grow warm and pliant did, she finally withdraw her hand.
“Let’s have dinner,” she said, her voice slightly hoarse.
“Afterward, prepare yourself. It’s time to fulfill the second clause of the contract.”
Dinner was already laid out on the table, with a soft candlelight flickering.
Someone had carefully timed their return, ensuring the dishes were at the perfect temperature and texture.
Ji Tanyue tightened her grip on the bead bracelet in her palm, the cool sensation quickly pulling her out of her earlier daze.
But she hadn’t expected that, as soon as she turned around, the hem of her trench coat would be tugged.
Chao Wan’s face was still flushed, appearing delicate and soft in the dim light, but her voice carried a hint of disappointment:
“Ms. Ji, may I… ask you a question?”
Ji Tanyue paused and nodded. “Go ahead.”
Chao Wan hesitated for a long time, her head lowering further and further.
“What kind of Omega do you like?”
She had thought about it for a while and realized that aside from being an Omega, she and Ruan Rou had little in common.
Ruan Rou was a gentle, refined actress, while she was just a vase who knew nothing.
If Ji Tanyue’s preferences leaned more toward Ruan Rou, then, she would soon grow tired of her and cast her aside.
If things developed that way, Chao Wan would have no way to continue sustaining her life.
Ji Tanyue turned back and looked at Chao Wan quietly for a moment.
“What kind of Omega do you think I like?”
An ambiguous reply.
As the woman walked toward the dining table, Chao Wan even caught a fleeting, unguarded curve at the corner of her lips.
Was she laughing at her for overestimating herself and meddling in matters that didn’t concern her?
Chao Wan’s eyes reddened, her mood plummeting to the depths.
“I have no interest in another’s partner,” Ji Tanyue said, pulling out a chair with her back to Chao Wan.
Chao Wan: “?”
The woman rinsed the tableware with hot tea, slightly turning her body. The candlelight illuminated the gentle curve of her jawline and her tall, straight nose.
She added nonchalantly, “Ruan Rou has a partner outside the industry. They’ve already registered their marriage in secret.”
Chao Wan’s eyes widened slightly.
Even in her past life, she hadn’t known about this piece of gossip.
She rubbed her reddened eyes, her cheeks flushing belatedly as she struggled to process the information.
“So, the ‘calculated intimacy’ CP you two marketed was also fake,” she murmured softly, finally piecing everything together.
Ji Tanyue nodded.
But then she frowned, her gaze lingering on Chao Wan with a faintly amused expression. “How did you know we would promote a CP? And you came up with the CP name rather quickly.”
Instantly, a chill ran down Chao Wan’s spine.
She had forgotten that, after her rebirth, this was no longer her previous life.
“Um… because you two… have great chemistry,” she stammered, hastily covering up.
Ji Tanyue’s suspicion hadn’t entirely faded, but at these words, she couldn’t help curling her lips into a smile. “Could you really tell even before the movie started filming?”
Chao Wan cautiously sat down across from Ji Tanyue, her heart pounding from nearly exposing her secret of rebirth.
She hadn’t quite caught the woman’s words. Looking up, she asked softly, “What?”
“I said,” Ji Tanyue speared a piece of steak from her plate, her long lashes lowering, “we could also have great chemistry.”
“Mm…” Chao Wan was bewildered.
A moment later, the meaning sank in, and her ears flushed bright red with heat.
Unsure of how to respond, she lowered her head and quietly poked at the food on her plate.
The candlelight cast long, gently swaying shadows, mirroring the turbulence in her heart.
Ji Tanyue had said she wasn’t actually into the “wifely” type… Hmm.
Then, who would she like?
It couldn’t possibly be someone like her, a caged canary, could it?
…
After dinner.
Chao Wan retreated to her room, quietly took a shower, and changed into clean pajamas.
The pajamas weren’t her own; they came with the villa and were the same silk style as Ji Tanyue’s.
The unfamiliar fragrance of the shower gel lingering around her, the unfamiliar texture of the pajamas against her skin, and the environment itself made Chao Wan feel as though she was sinking deeper into the woman’s cage.
Everything here belonged to Ji Tanyue.
Even she herself, from the night she signed that contract, had become a bird cupped in the woman’s palm.
Chao Wan slipped on her slippers and tiptoed softly toward the opposite side of the second floor.
To the bedroom that belonged to Ji Tanyue.
Pushing the door open, she found the woman leaning against the bed, reading a script.
“Change your clothes,” Ji Tanyue said after glancing at her briefly, her tone indifferent.
Chao Wan stood frozen in place, at a loss.
“In the closet,” Ji Tanyue added patiently.
“Ms. Ji…” Chao Wan still didn’t move, struggling to find the words. “W-what do I need to do tonight?”
“The contract is in the blue folder on the table. You can question any clause in it,” Ji Tanyue replied calmly, making notes on her script without hurry.
“Go take a look.”
Question it?
Chao Wan hummed softly in acknowledgment, her heart racing.
She walked to the table, picked up the folder, and flipped through it.
The first day’s tasks were hugging and kissing. Since they had already been completed, they were crossed out with a pen.
The second day’s tasks were changing clothes, and then… undressing…
Her cheeks burned abruptly.
Feeling wronged, Chao Wan murmured, “C-can I refuse all of it?”
Ji Tanyue had just said she could question the terms.
“No,” the woman’s voice remained gentle. “You can question them and discuss modifications with me, but you cannot refuse outright.”
“As for the conditions for modification…” Ji Tanyue set down her script, stood up, and walked around to stand behind Chao Wan.
“It’s to fulfill the contract and please me.”
As the words fell, she gently peeled off the inhibitor patch on the back of Chao Wan’s neck.
A chill seeped in, and instantly, Chao Wan trembled all over.
“Go change your clothes.” Ji Tanyue tapped her shoulder with a fingertip, reminding her softly.
There was no refusing.
No matter how unwilling she was, her heart beating anxiously as if suspended in midair, Chao Wan could only shuffle slowly toward the wardrobe.
She pulled open the wardrobe door.
Right in the center, a delicate, milky-white spaghetti strap dress caught her eye.
The size was too small, and since Chao Wan had interacted with Ji Tanyue before, she naturally knew this dress couldn’t be the woman’s.
It was prepared specifically for her again.
Chao Wan carefully reached into the wardrobe and took out the dress. Noticing that Ji Tanyue had already averted her gaze and returned to the bedside to continue revising the script, she relaxed a little inside.
She held the dress up against herself. After scrutinizing it for a long while, her heart suddenly tightened.
She had misjudged, the spaghetti strap dress was even shorter and tighter than she had imagined.
It was a size that would make even Chao Wan feel constrained and shy to wear.
Though it was an innocent style in milky white, why did it have to be so form-fitting?
She didn’t like it at all.
Chao Wan bit her lip, took the dress off the hanger, hugged it to her chest, and prepared to change in the bathroom.
“You can change here.” From behind, Ji Tanyue looked up.
“We’re both Omegas.”
Chao Wan’s body stiffened.
But Ji Tanyue’s reasoning was sound, and she had no grounds to refute it.
She had no choice but to retreat to a secluded corner of the bedroom.
Hesitating, her fingertips brushed against the buttons of her pajamas, undoing a few.
Suddenly, Chao Wan paused.
She had just taken a shower and had nothing on under her pajamas. The spaghetti strap dress would cling to her figure so revealingly…
Ji Tanyue watched as Chao Wan turned back to look at her in panic, the corners of her eyes tinged with red, and a faint curve appeared at the corner of her lips.
“What’s wrong?” she asked softly.
