My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 10
Before Chao Wan could think further, the entrance to the escape room was opened by the staff.
“Let’s go in.” Wearing her blindfold, the young girl was sandwiched between two boys as they followed the staff into the room like a miniature train.
Fu Xi waved at her from behind, his expression innocent yet tinged with a hint of pity.
Chao Wan glanced at the ticket marked “No. 28 Jiangchao Road,” with five stars printed beside it, and suddenly felt that the upcoming experience would not be pleasant at all.
Guided by the staff, she put on her blindfold and cautiously followed the woman with the curly ponytail into the entrance, feeling her way in the darkness.
Suddenly, a woman’s voice sounded beside her ear.
“They’ll have NPCs chasing from behind. You should walk in front.”
A weight settled on her shoulder as the woman moved behind her, her cool fingertips resting lightly on Chao Wan like unmelted snowflakes seeping through thin fabric.
For some reason, Chao Wan’s eyelashes trembled beneath the blindfold.
“Okay,” she replied softly in the darkness.
Do experienced players always take such good care of their teammates?
Moreover, when their eyes had met earlier, the woman’s gaze had left her feeling strangely unsettled.
Where had she seen her before?
The blindfold blocked out all light, and before Chao Wan could gather her thoughts, the staff had already led her into the designated room.
With a heavy thud, the iron door at the entrance was sealed shut.
Fu Xi had spared no expense, the soundproofing in the room was excellent. Combined with the blindfold, both sight and sound faded into nothingness.
The weight on her shoulder silently vanished, and for no apparent reason, Chao Wan felt a pang of disappointment.
“Can we take off our blindfolds now?” Unsure of the situation, she could only ask this.
“I don’t know,” a girl’s slightly confused voice came from ahead.
“Usually, once we enter the room, there’s a broadcast explaining the background. Why isn’t there one this time?”
A boy chimed in, equally puzzled, “Maybe the broadcast system is malfunctioning? That’s odd, this is Boss Fu’s place, after all…”
“I’ll take off my blindfold and check,” the girl said.
Chao Wan couldn’t see what the others were doing, but remembering Fu Xi’s advice to simply follow her teammates, she stood quietly in place without objecting.
There was a rustling sound.
Suddenly, a frightened scream pierced the air, startlingly sharp in the confined space.
The girl hastily put her blindfold back on, her voice trembling. “D-Don’t take off your blindfolds… There are NPCs all around us.”
Chao Wan flinched, her heart racing.
After the girl’s warning, the damp, gloomy air seemed to grow thick with the presence of others, faint breaths rising and falling all around.
From behind, the woman spoke calmly:
“There are infrared lights in the room. Based on the mechanics, I’d guess that if you take off your blindfold and get caught in the light, you’ll be eliminated immediately.”
“…How do you know that?” Chao Wan whispered.
“I took off my blindfold earlier too,” the woman replied.
Chao Wan pressed her lips together, unsure of what to say.
Truly an experienced player, bold and skilled.
They were clearly at a standstill: unable to remove their blindfolds or move freely, lest they trigger NPCs or traps and end up being chased.
Suddenly, a weight settled on her shoulder again.
Chao Wan’s eyelashes fluttered beneath the blindfold. Sensing something amiss, she tentatively asked, “Did you find something?”
Her left wrist was grasped firmly, the touch still cool.
The woman leaned close to her and spoke gravely, “That wasn’t me.”
It felt as if all the blood in her body had frozen solid.
Suddenly, the previously silent broadcast began playing eerie sound effects, and the hand resting on Chao Wan’s shoulder tightened its grip.
Amid the NPC’s malicious teasing, Chao Wan hunched her shoulders, her eyes growing moist with tears, her heart leaping into her throat.
The next second, the weight on her shoulder lightened as the hand was abruptly shoved away.
The NPC was still howling with professional dedication when, with a swift motion, the woman pulled the blindfold back over her head. Caught off guard, the NPC stood there bewildered.
Her wrist was gently tugged forward, and through the chaotic background noise, the woman softly instructed Chao Wan, “Stay close to me.”
Her ankles weak, Chao Wan bit her lip and let out a couple of choked sobs, leaning almost her entire body into the woman’s embrace as she was half-carried forward.
The woman wore a loose white T-shirt, practical for movement, but in such close contact, it was impossible to avoid feeling the contours of her body beneath the fabric.
It was soft, carrying a faint, unfamiliar, and elegant fragrance of perfume.
It took Chao Wan a moment to realize what part of the woman’s body she had just touched. Flustered, she quickly withdrew her hand, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
“Move forward and feel along the walls,” the woman reminded her loudly, paying no mind to the incident.
The nearby NPCs continued to menace them wildly. Even with the blindfold on, they could sense the infrared lights scanning more and more frequently. The escape room felt like an endless corridor, and after several minutes of groping, they had found no clues.
“Miss,” the two boys leading the way whined, “There’s nothing on the walls…”
But Chao Wan noticed that the woman had stopped in her tracks.
“Here.”
With a click, the door handle turned.
…
Outside the escape room, Fu Xi withdrew her gaze, pinched the bridge of her nose, and sighed with worry.
No. 28 Jiangchao Road was the only script she had put into operation without experiencing it herself. The opening, with its lack of broadcast instructions, was indeed terrifying, and she wasn’t sure if Chao Wan could handle it.
But…
She glanced at the surveillance feed showing the five people who had entered the room, her eyes lingering on the masked woman with an elegant aura and curly hair tied in a ponytail.
This one was quite interesting. She had immediately clarified the elimination rules of the escape room and found the first hidden space.
Fu Xi flipped through the registration log. The name registered was “Yu Yunjia,” a female Beta, described by the staff as a frequent high-level player.
However, with the venue’s growing reputation, many celebrities came here to relieve stress, and Fu Xi didn’t trust the information on the registration form.
She casually glanced outside and, sure enough, spotted a woman in a suit skirt, a secretary who stood out starkly against the café’s relaxed atmosphere.
Grabbing a low-alcohol fruit wine, Fu Xi walked over and struck up a conversation with a smile, “You must be Ms. Yu, right?”
The secretary lowered her head, scrolling through her phone, and ignored her.
“If I’m not mistaken, the one inside the escape room…” Undeterred, Fu Xi placed the drink on the small table in front of her. “Teacher Ji, truly neglecting her duties.”
The secretary looked up, a flicker of surprise in her eyes.
“If you’re interested, why not take a look at the surveillance area?” Fu Xi extended the invitation casually.
…
Pushing open the door to the unknown area, the five of them cautiously entered the room and quickly locked the door behind them.
Chao Wan removed her blindfold, took a deep breath, and only then dared to survey her surroundings.
It was still dark, but someone in the group had discovered several flashlights in the room’s storage box. After distributing them, the cool white beams faintly illuminated the area.
“Here.” Someone handed over a flashlight.
Chao Wan quickly accepted it, but her trembling fingers fumbled several times without managing to turn it on.
A soft sigh whispered in her ear. Suddenly, her wrist was gently held, and a delicate, porcelain-like touch enveloped her hand.
“Like this.”
With a click, the flashlight flickered to life.
“Understand?”
In the dim light, Chao Wan gazed at the faint shadow cast by the woman’s long lashes on her face and the focused gentleness in her eyes. Unconsciously, her cheeks warmed slightly.
