My Clingy Fiancée Is Forcing Me to Marry Her Again - Chapter 7
“Sister Li, why haven’t you come to see me?”
Guan Xiaoyu’s wronged and pitiful voice came through the phone.
A full three days had passed since their last message exchange ended abruptly.
The phone suddenly rang in the evening, and Li Fangge answered without hesitation.
“I told you the last time we met, you should be the one to come to me.”
“Can’t Sister answer my question directly?”
“You know the answer.”
Since she had decided to break off the engagement, Li Fangge decided to be completely cold and resolute.
Being indecisive and leaving room for doubt had never been her style.
She stood in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window in the room, looking down at the lush green lawn of the front yard.
The sun was about to set, and the evening glow was rapidly retreating from the tops of the large palm trees planted along the driveway.
“I’ve already come to see Sister. If you still send Sister Yi out to meet me, my heart will break.”
My heart will break—if these words came from anyone else, Li Fangge would find them incredibly sappy,
But coming from this delicate flower, she felt it was perfectly natural, as if she truly was that fragile and easily broken.
Li Fangge suddenly wavered, feeling that there was no need to be so heartless. They were both adults; even if they couldn’t be together, they could part amicably and meet again in the future.
“Wait a moment.”
Hanging up the phone, Li Fangge prepared to change her clothes.
She was currently wearing lazy, loose-fitting loungewear. To call off an engagement, she still needed to pay attention to her appearance.
However, there wasn’t a single dress or a bright, eye-catching piece of clothing in the walk-in closet.
The Scum Alpha’s summer wardrobe consisted only of T-shirts and shirts.
She had tried to update her wardrobe two days ago, only to discover that her credit card was unusable, and her mobile payment accounts and savings cards were as empty as the heart of a balloon.
Since she was so poor, why was the food on the dining table still so lavish and abundant every day?
When asked, the rigid butler said, “Everything was arranged by Mr. Li.”
“Then can you please tell Mr. Li that I would like to buy some clothes recently?”
Li Fangge had never experienced the taste of poverty.
Now, she understood the feeling of having to ask someone for money—that sense of humiliation and meekness was truly uncomfortable.
“Miss Heguo, that is not within the scope of my duties,” Chen Qiaoyi refused expressionlessly. “A friendly reminder, it is very dangerous for Miss to go out now.”
Tears would speak volumes.
The Scum Alpha’s creditors had already laid a net over Lugu.
In the past few days, Li Fangge had convinced herself to accept the reality of being a miserable woman whose life was forfeit the moment she left this mansion.
Finally, she hurriedly chose a dark green V-neck plaid shirt, carelessly tucked the hem into a pair of black pencil pants, and put on a pair of shallow-cut shoes.
As she walked out the main gate,
She saw Guan Xiaoyu’s car parked in the same spot as a few days ago.
Under that large banyan tree was a good place to park.
The delicate flower must really be angry; she hadn’t even gotten out of the car.
Li Fangge was just wondering whether to walk over when, suddenly, the driver’s side door opened.
A woman in work pants got out of the car. As she walked around to the passenger-side door, she glanced at Li Fangge—it was a less-than-friendly look, which she then quietly withdrew.
Li Fangge paused her steps.
She watched the woman open the car door and make a respectful gesture to invite someone out.
Guan Xiaoyu’s movement getting out of the car was incredibly slow. It took several minutes just for her right leg to emerge from the car and touch the ground. By the time she appeared from behind the car door, lowering her head in a white fluffy dress, ten minutes had passed.
Even before getting close, Li Fangge could already feel Guan Xiaoyu’s low-pressure mood.
The sun had completely set. The thin clouds floating in the grayish-blue sky above them had, without rhyme or reason, turned a very romantic pink.
It was clear that the delicate flower was waiting for her to approach.
Li Fangge took her left hand out of her pocket and strode towards Guan Xiaoyu.
She stopped about a meter in front of her.
Just as she was about to speak, Guan Xiaoyu, who had been looking down, suddenly raised her head.
Li Fangge was stunned into silence. Oh, heavens! Even though she had agreed to come out and meet her, why was her heart still broken?
The conversation hadn’t even started, and her eyes were already this red.
If they discussed breaking off the engagement later, wouldn’t she cry herself to death right here?
“Sister Li, please comfort me quickly.”
As Guan Xiaoyu spoke, her red eyes welled up with a thin layer of tears.
What was a poor little thing? Li Fangge finally understood.
The crucial thing was, she didn’t feel any impatience towards Guan Xiaoyu, and she subconsciously indulged her by responding, “How should I comfort you?”
They both seemed to have forgotten that Guan Xiaoyu’s driver was still standing nearby.
“Sister just needs to give me a hug. I’m very easy to comfort.”
This was not “easy to comfort”; it was quite difficult to comfort, thank you very much.
Li Fangge really wanted to explain that their boundaries were different, but right now, that wasn’t the point.
Why she was crying like this wasn’t the point either.
The point was: to hug, or not to hug?
After a long period of stalemate, Guan Xiaoyu’s pitiable little eyes looked over again.
Li Fangge looked at her watery red eyes. “Sister is afraid she can’t resist your pheromones.”
“Can you smell them?”
Guan Xiaoyu slightly lowered her head and turned, sniffing her left and right neck hollows. “I can’t smell anything.”
“Of course, you can’t smell it, but for someone of my caliber—”
“I took suppressants before I left.”
Guan Xiaoyu was sidetracked, seemingly forgetting about asking for a hug for comfort.
Li Fangge secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, the delicate flower half-turned and said to her driver, who was still standing by the car door, “Sister Hong Tao, did you smell anything in the car just now?”
The woman named Hong Tao looked bewildered and replied innocently, “Miss Er, I am a Beta with no ability to perceive pheromones. I apologize.”
“Even without perception, you can still smell it, right—” Guan Xiaoyu said dejectedly. “You go get dinner first. I need to have a long talk with Sister Li. It shouldn’t end for a few hours.”
“Alright.” Hong Tao looked immensely relieved.
She offered a slight salute to Li Fangge, turned, and walked toward the direction of East Street.
“Sister Li, are my pheromones really that—”
“Yes.”
Recalling the scenes in the bathroom a few days ago, Li Fangge suddenly dared not look Guan Xiaoyu in the eye.
Turning her face away, she noticed that her face, which was usually calm in any situation, was burning hot.
It was as if she had genuinely taken advantage of the delicate flower standing before her during that shower—
“Okay then, I’ll allow you to keep your distance from me. Next time I come, I’ll make sure to—”
“What next time?”
Li Fangge disregarded the heat in her face and looked at Guan Xiaoyu.
She didn’t want a next time. She also didn’t plan on having a long talk with her tonight.
“Next time I meet Sister Li, I’ll take a shower beforehand, so Sister can hug me.”
The topic was instantly pulled back.
Li Fangge really wanted to pry open Guan Xiaoyu’s head and see how her thought process worked.
“I don’t think that will work either. What if you get excited again—”
“You’re right. So annoying. I really want to seal my scent gland shut with tape!”
The two looked at each other, and Guan Xiaoyu suddenly burst into a smile, then continued, “Does Sister get excited seeing me too? Your face is so red. Should I step back a little?”
My face isn’t red because I’m seeing you!
It’s because—
Li Fangge’s thoughts churned. Fine, if she had to say it, it was indeed because of seeing this delicate flower.
But today, she really didn’t smell the scent of orange blossoms.
“No need. Let’s go in.”
Feeling exposed, she subconsciously reached out and scratched her right earlobe for no reason.
Without waiting for Guan Xiaoyu’s response, she turned around in a deliberately nonchalant manner and strode towards the house entrance.
“Sister Li, wait for me.”
“Don’t worry, you won’t get lost.”
“I don’t want to be so far from Sister. I—”
With her back to Guan Xiaoyu, Li Fangge easily noticed that she was struggling to keep up. Short legs were just short legs—
She slowed her pace until Guan Xiaoyu caught up.
