My Brother's Arranged Marriage Partner Is My Boyfriend - Chapter 68
11:30 PM.
The Bai Family Villa—
Mo Leyang stopped after sending Bai Nanxing to the entrance. He originally intended to follow him inside, but Bai Nanxing felt it was unnecessary and told him to stay in the car.
“Are you sure you don’t want your husband to accompany you inside?” Mo Leyang poked his head out again, refusing to give up.
Bai Nanxing’s mouth twitched. He turned back, grabbed Mo Leyang by the collar, and commanded, “Pull back your flirtatious energy, or else I’ll turn the ‘only one’ of this ring into ‘one of many.'”
After all, they were not engaged and had not registered for marriage; they could break up at any moment.
Mo Leyang instantly looked aggrieved. “Little Junior, you’re being mean to me! You were just calling me ‘husband’ in the car, and now you’ve turned your back on me so quickly. So cold-blooded, so heartless—my heart suddenly hurts so much.”
“…” Bai Nanxing was speechless at the overwhelming “green tea” act. He really wanted to beat the man up on the spot, but for the sake of the ID card, he decided to forgive Mo Leyang’s eccentricity one last time.
“Then just die from the pain.”
Leaving him with those words, Bai Nanxing let go and walked toward the villa without looking back.
It was already late at night. The Bai family’s butler and servants had mostly gone to rest, and the entire villa was silent. Even the sound of footsteps became exceptionally clear.
Bai Nanxing reached out to turn the doorknob, only to find it locked from the inside. Under normal circumstances, the villa’s main door was never locked, primarily to prevent guests from visiting unexpectedly, and Bai Yi would usually arrange for someone to guard the entrance.
But not tonight.
Tonight, even the security guards at the outer gate were absent.
It seemed as though something important was happening, and people had been intentionally sent away.
Fortunately, he had always been cautious and had duplicated a key to the main door from the butler.
Bai Nanxing took the key from his pocket, inserted it, and gently turned the lock. To avoid alerting Bai Yi, he only opened the door a crack—just enough for him to slip inside.
The lights in the living room were on, but no one was there. Bai Nanxing felt increasingly uneasy. He looked up toward the rooms on the second floor and noticed that the door to Bai Yi’s office was tightly shut. Listening carefully, he could hear the sound of whispering coming from inside.
Two of the voices were all too familiar to him—one belonged to Bai Yi and the other to Qiao Qian. However, there was clearly a third voice mixed in.
This voice also sounded familiar to Bai Nanxing; it seemed he had heard it not long ago.
A guest from the bar?
A classmate from school?
No, it wasn’t from those two places.
Bai Nanxing had an excellent memory. If it were someone from the bar or school, he would be one hundred percent certain. If the voice was unfamiliar yet not a complete stranger, it meant he had met this person recently. And the places he had been recently…
The Gu family banquet!
Bai Nanxing instantly remembered who the owner of the voice was—it was Chen Jin, the man who had proactively approached him and tried to get handsy with him!
But the relationship between Chen Jin and Bai Yi wasn’t particularly good. In fact, it was merely a partnership based on mutual interests. Furthermore, if Chen Jin had business with Bai Yi, he would usually come in the morning. He would never come at night, let alone near midnight.
Something must have happened. Chen Jin couldn’t wait, which is why he sought him out in the middle of the night.
Bai Nanxing took off his shoes and carried them, slowly walking upstairs.
As he got closer, the discussion inside the room became clearer.
He heard Qiao Qian shouting at Bai Yi: “Are you telling me that even now, you’re still reluctant to part with that bastard? Does the child born of that bitch really make your heart ache that much? Do you even know how many men she was involved with back then? How can you be so sure he’s your own flesh and blood? What if that wretched woman bribed the hospital and gave you a fake DNA report? Bai Yi, let me tell you—things have reached this point. If you’re still unwilling to let go of that bastard, then don’t blame me for being heartless too!”
Then came Chen Jin’s voice: “That’s right, President Bai. You should be very clear about the current situation. Even if you let Bai Nanxing marry into the Mo family, in Mo Yuncheng’s eyes, you are still just an insignificant President of the Bai Group who can’t compare to the Mo family. Besides, I heard about what happened at the Mo family’s ancestral home. Mo Yuncheng clearly intended to embarrass you. If you keep pinning your hopes on Mo Yuncheng, the project we want to collaborate on with President Cao might really fall through. You know that President Cao’s precious son got into trouble years ago because of Bai Nanxing, and he has been dissatisfied with you ever since. He only let it slide because of your sincere apology. You can’t afford to be foolish now, President Bai!”
“And think about it, President Bai. The four great families of Yancheng are all equally matched. The Zhou family remains neutral, but the other two families—which one of them doesn’t grit their teeth in hatred toward Mo Yuncheng? If you side with President Cao, you can join forces with the Gu family. When that time comes, no matter how great Mo Yuncheng’s capabilities are, he will be helpless against the siege of two other great families!”
Perhaps seeing that Bai Yi wasn’t reacting, Qiao Qian’s voice became twice as loud as before. “Even President Chen says so. What are you still hesitating for? Are you still expecting Mo Yuncheng to help you? Have you forgotten his attitude toward you at the Mo ancestral home? Have you forgotten how his ‘good son’ humiliated us at the Gu family banquet? He never intended to treat us as in-laws. From start to finish, he just thought that bastard looked good, so he let his son marry him just to play around!”
Bai Nanxing recalled that Bai Yi had recently taken on a major project. He wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but it required a massive amount of capital—capital that the Bai family currently lacked the strength to provide.
No wonder Chen Jin had suddenly approached him at the Gu banquet wanting him to “accompany” him in bed.
It turned out it was all done with Bai Yi’s unspoken permission.
Bai Nanxing clenched his fists tightly.
He should have been furious, but for some reason—perhaps because he was about to leave the Bai family forever—he felt indifferent.
Under Qiao Qian’s urging, Bai Yi finally spoke.
“Do you think I’m reluctant to let him go? If I were, I wouldn’t have agreed to the marriage proposal Mo Yuncheng made between the Bai and Mo families.”
Qiao Qian and Chen Jin were clearly unaware of this. Upon hearing Bai Yi’s words, their reactions were filled with shock.
“What?”
“President Bai, what is going on?”
Not only were Qiao Qian and Chen Jin shocked, but Bai Nanxing, standing outside the door, was also stunned.
He had always thought this marriage was something Bai Yi had begged for from Mo Yuncheng in order to climb the ladder of the Mo family’s power. He never imagined that Mo Yuncheng had been the one to propose it first.
Amidst their shock, Bai Yi continued: “There’s no point in hiding it now. Mo Yuncheng was the one who begged me for this marriage. I thought that by doing this, I could obtain the full support of the Mo family’s wealth, so I agreed. I never expected that I would still be outmaneuvered by Mo Yuncheng.”
Qiao Qian didn’t believe him and questioned: “If that’s the case, what are you still hesitating for? You can just tell Mo Yuncheng to hurry up with the wedding. Once they’re married, that little brat will definitely have to come back, and then you can use him to threaten Mo Yuncheng. If Mo Yuncheng begged you, then for the sake of that brat, he will definitely provide the money to help you!”
“You think I don’t want to?” Bai Yi almost roared. “Don’t you know? The only reason Mo Yuncheng hasn’t moved against me or the Bai family yet is because I haven’t officially agreed to let Bai Nanxing marry his son! Once Bai Nanxing marries his son, our Bai family is completely finished.”
Qiao Qian asked incredulously, “Wh-what? What does that mean?”
Bai Yi hesitated, seemingly unwilling to speak.
Chen Jin also sensed there was more to the story and echoed Qiao Qian: “President Bai, there are only the three of us in this villa right now. Rest assured, I am on your side. Speaking of this won’t benefit me in any way, so you can speak freely.”
Qiao Qian urged from the side, “Just say it! Things have already come to this; what else is there to hide? This morning, President Cao and I already reached an agreement. As long as you hand that little brat over to him, he will transfer the funds immediately. Not only that, President Cao will support you unconditionally until the project is completed.”
Hearing these words, Bai Nanxing’s past nightmares came rushing back, and his entire body couldn’t stop trembling.
President Cao—Cao Huaiyuan.
— “You all better hold him down for me. If I take a liking to someone, he’ll submit whether he wants to or not!”
Bai Yi actually wanted to hand him over to Cao Huaiyuan’s father.
Bai Nanxing grit his teeth, tightly hugging his shivering arms.
The next second.
He heard Bai Yi say: “Forget it. This secret has been hidden in my heart for so many years; it’s time you knew—Bai Nanxing is not my son, and his mother was not the ‘bitch’ you claim she was. Back then, I was pursuing her with all my might, but she had a child with another man and secretly got married. Later, she even used that to humiliate me. Just when I thought I would spend the rest of my life living in resentment, heaven had eyes. The man she married died in an accident, and she happened to be in labor that day. I was the only one by her side. I adopted Bai Nanxing, brought him home, and registered him under my name. This is what she owed me.”
“Do you know why Mo Yuncheng was willing to come and beg me? Because Mo Yuncheng also liked her; she was the woman he loved most in his life. Loving the house and its crow, he naturally has a fondness for Bai Nanxing. But since Bai Nanxing is registered under my name, no matter how much Mo Yuncheng wants to be good to him, he has to come and beg me.”
Bai Nanxing’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had guessed that he might not be Bai Yi’s biological child, but he never imagined that he was not only unrelated to him but had been “stolen” by Bai Yi through such filthy means.
He could have had a different life. He wouldn’t have had to endure the judgmental looks of others, he wouldn’t have had to sell his looks to please those who only wanted to sleep with him, and he wouldn’t even have had to meet a pervert like Mo Leyang. He could have lived in the sunlight, upright and honest, like any normal child.
But all of this had been destroyed by Bai Yi.
Bai Nanxing grit his teeth fiercely. At this moment, a hatred like never before sprouted like a seed, instantly growing into a towering tree.
