My Boss Transmigrated Into a Maid and I Became Gay - Chapter 22
Half an hour later, Lu Ying stood at the side entrance, watching a bubblegum-pink helicopter land smoothly on the endless runway.
The wind kicked up by the rotor blades blew the tiara right off her head. The maid knelt to pick it up for her, then reached up to tuck a stray lock of long hair behind her ear.
Faced with this sudden third-wheel intrusion, Lu Ying’s romantic wish had withered on the vine; her heart was now as still as a stagnant pool. She walked toward the helicopter with a blank expression, only to discover a line of white text painted across the side of the pink fuselage as she got closer.
Wishing Little Princess An Lingran a happy trip to the amusement park!
Lu Ying: “…”
She had a hundred profanities bottled up inside, and she wasn’t sure if she should let them fly!
Thank goodness she wasn’t using her real name, otherwise she would have used her toes to dig a tunnel right then and there and rolled to the other side of the Earth!
She strongly suspected that beneath her Eldest Brother’s melancholy, artistic exterior hid the soul of a “Little Princess.” How else could he have pulled a stunt like this?
The brother seemed quite pleased with his handiwork; a hint of pride flickered within his mournful expression. Lu Ying had to bite her tongue to keep from roasting him. He was already so depressed; better not to push him. If he became even unhappier and spent the whole trip at the amusement park with a face like a slapped ass, she’d be the one suffering for it.
The maid supported her as they climbed the steps into the cabin. Suddenly, Lu Ying felt her body sink. That familiar sensation of her soul being pulled away made her panic, and she instinctively reached out to grab the maid’s hand.
A moment later, she realized the texture was all wrong. She opened her eyes to find herself death-gripping the rear end of a stuffed panda on her bed.
So I was grabbing this thing’s butt just now?
The difference between this and the maid’s delicate, soft hand was way too great!
Lu Ying let go of the panda’s butt in disgust, checked the time, and scrambled out of bed. She had intended to test the maid tonight to confirm if she was truly President Jian, but after a whole night of this, she was only more confused.
Lu Ying decided to give up on the probing. She felt her acting skills weren’t up to par; if she kept testing, she’d be the one to slip up. Best to let nature take its course.
In short: stay low until the year-end bonus is paid!
And the most important part of staying low was that, starting today, she had to minimize all speech and contact with President Jian.

During her boring commute, Lu Ying leaned against a subway advertisement and began plotting how to avoid President Jian’s daily trajectory.
[Morning: Avoid the breakroom when she first arrives, President Jian likes to get coffee around nine.]
[Lunch: Go to eat with Sister Zhuan five minutes early, President Jian has been eating at 11:30 lately, so they can leave at 11:25.]
[Evening: Wait until President Jian leaves before finishing overtime, or slip away while she’s still busy, that way she won’t be invited for a ride.]
The battle plan was perfect!
However, after arriving at the office, she learned that President Jian had a professional development course today. She left after working only two hours in the morning and wouldn’t be back for the rest of the day.
Ah… it seemed the plan wouldn’t be needed today.
During those two brief hours, Lu Ying didn’t run into her once. It was only when President Jian packed her things to leave that Lu Ying managed to steal a glance from afar. Her gaze followed the boss to the elevator, and only after the “Down” button was pressed did she snap back to her senses and shake her head.
She was acting so strange! One minute she wanted to hide, the next she was chasing the woman with her eyes.
Lu Ying quickly retracted her gaze. What are you looking at? Stop it! Keep looking and that year-end bonus is toast!
******
Suddenly it was 5:00 PM. She had nothing left to do and managed a rare “on-time” departure.
As she and Sister Zhuan shut down their computers, Lu Ying habitually glanced toward the boss’s office. The lights were out; no one was there. She scratched her head, ignoring the odd feeling in her chest, and headed for the elevator with her friend.
Once inside the elevator, Sister Zhuan suddenly said, “Sakura, you seem a bit off lately.”
Yu Linchuan had been observing her for three days. The usually bouncy girl had been brooding lately; yesterday her face flickered with painful internal struggle, and today she looked like she’d lost her soul, constantly spacing out.
Lu Ying, already having a guilty conscience, felt like she was facing a mortal enemy. “What do you know?!”
No way, no way. Is my fixation on President Jian so obvious that even Sister Zhuan noticed?
Yu Linchuan, however, was thinking about the “secret date” Lu Ying had gone on Saturday. She assumed these abnormalities were related to the guy. She patted Lu Ying’s shoulder comfortingly. “Heh, what else could I know? It’s just some stinky man, isn’t it?”
Lu Ying was full of question marks. What man?!
They stepped off the elevator and swiped through the same turnstile. Yu Linchuan kept her arm around her shoulder. “Don’t play dumb. You went on a date with a guy on Saturday, didn’t you? You little rascal, you were too embarrassed to tell me because you were afraid I’d be unhappy about my own breakup. It’s fine! I’m completely over my heartbreak. But you’ve been acting so weird since that date. Did something bad happen? Hmm… anyway, we’re free today. How about we go for a drink and you can tell your big sister all about it?”
Lu Ying hadn’t expected this specific misinterpretation. She froze for a few seconds before deciding to roll with it. “Ah… that, well, actually it was nothing. All good things must come to an end. I’ll be fine after a night’s sleep.”
Her acting was perhaps a bit too dramatic. Yu Linchuan froze and suddenly cupped Lu Ying’s face. “Sakura, did you break up? You have to stay positive! Look at me, we were together so long and we still split. Bye-bye means bye-bye, the next one will be better.”
Not exactly.
Lu Ying wracked her brain to salvage the lie. “It wasn’t a breakup. Uh, it was just a friend I talked to online. We met in real life and I felt like he just… wasn’t the one.”
“In what way?”
Jian Qin’s face, a blend of beauty and ethereal elegance—flashed before Lu Ying’s eyes. She lied through her teeth: “His face wasn’t up to par.”
Yu Linchuan let go. “Alright then. Don’t be too sad. It’s better to cut your losses early. But if you’re a ‘visual’ person, you really shouldn’t do online dating. The risk is too high; it’s like a blind box, it’s too hard to pull a ‘hidden’ legendary. With your looks, finding a ‘puppy’ or a ‘wolf’ type in real life would be effortless.”
Lu Ying’s face was the definition of awkward. She managed a strained smile. “Thanks, Sister Zhuan. I’m okay now. I won’t be opening any more blind boxes…”
“Good. Go home and rest, don’t think about him.”
“Mm. See you tomorrow.”
Exiting the company, Lu Ying and Sister Zhuan headed in opposite directions. Once she turned the corner, Lu Ying let out a massive sigh of relief.
That was terrifying! She thought people had noticed her frequent contact with President Jian. Thankfully, in Sister Zhuan’s world, there was no scent of lilies—only men.
*****
Having not spoken to President Jian all day, Lu Ying felt an itch in her heart. By 10:00 PM, she dove onto her bed, eager to meet her maid in her dreams.
After an unknown amount of sleep, she opened her eyes to find the maid combing her hair and readjusting the diamond tiara.
They were on the helicopter.
As the crew closed the cabin doors, Lu Ying felt a mix of nerves and excitement—it was her first time in a helicopter. Well, she called it a helicopter, but she doubted any real-world model was this ridiculously luxurious.
She pressed herself against the window to look out, then turned back with a spark of excitement to the maid. “Come sit next to me.”
The Eldest Brother’s expression changed instantly. He said mournfully, “Sister, that seat was meant for me.”
“Brother, I’m all grown up now. It’s not proper to sit so close to you. It’s better to sit with a girl.” Lu Ying used the same excuse she’d used on the Fourth Brother to brush him off, then beckoned the maid over.
There seemed to be a sliver of logic in her words. Reluctantly, the Eldest Brother sat across from her instead.
The luxury leather seats were a ten out of ten for comfort. Once buckled in, Lu Ying found a handheld controller. She pressed a random button, and a screen unfolded from her side, playing a “Princess” style animated movie.
She looked up to find her brother watching her with a soulful, expectant gaze, clearly fishing for a compliment. Seeing her stay silent, he finally spoke first. “Sister, I picked this movie out just for you. It perfectly matches your image as a little princess in my heart.”
Lu Ying: “…”
She glanced at the screen. A beautiful white-haired princess in a red coat was sitting on a sleigh pulled by two reindeer, fleeing into a moonlit forest in a panic.
…I get it. In his heart, I’m just a ‘Runaway Santa’ from a castle.
Lu Ying praised him with a deadpan face. “It’s beautiful. I love it. You’re the best, Brother.”
Then she quickly hit the button to retract the screen.
Eldest Brother: “…”
What should I do? I feel like she didn’t actually like it!
Moments later, with all passengers settled, the helicopter prepared for takeoff. Lu Ying grew nervous again and instinctively grabbed the maid’s hand.
The woman offered a small smile. “Don’t be afraid, Miss. I am here.”
Across from them, a flash of jealousy appeared on the Eldest Brother’s mournful face. He looked even unhappier.
Lu Ying looked at him with pity. Such a handsome guy, why does he have to spend every day with a face like a slapped ass?
I should give him a nickname…
Yeah. Let’s call him “Mr. Grumpy.”
