- Chapter 9 - Wife, Feed Me Well
Gu Fei seemed intentionally bent on “going against” her. She hugged Song Yanran tightly from behind, her nose moving inch by inch to lightly sniff the nape of Song Yanran’s neck. Naturally, Song Yanran could feel every bit of her shallow breath and soft figure.
Her tense body relaxed unconsciously. In the darkness, Song Yanran’s face flushed. After a long while, she finally spoke in a low voice with her eyes closed.
“Gu Fei, if you tease your teacher again, I’m going to sleep in the guest room.”
“…”
“Goodnight, Teacher Song.”
Having run out of tricks, Gu Fei instantly became well-behaved. She lay on her side, silently watching Song Yanran’s back until she received a gentle “goodnight” in return before finally closing her eyes.
About an hour passed, or perhaps longer. Listening to the steady, even breathing of the fast-asleep Song Yanran beside her, a completely sleepless Gu Fei slowly opened her eyes. She rose as quietly as possible and took her phone out to the balcony.
The glass door separated the two spaces. In the dark, Gu Fei leaned against the balcony railing, staring blankly at the bracelet on her wrist.
After glancing back at Song Yanran, who was still sleeping peacefully in the bedroom, she let out a silent smile. Then, with a slight furrow of her brow, she began using her phone to book a medical consultation.
But even after the appointment was made, Gu Fei still felt uneasy. She started searching for related keywords on the web.
A mountain of information appeared. Gu Fei frowned, reading each entry seriously, unaware that in the bedroom behind her, the person who was supposed to be fast asleep had also woken up.
Turning on the small nightlight by the bed, Pei Yao sat up against the headboard, looking a bit confused. She surveyed the unfamiliar room while reaching out to touch her own belly.
“Why am I so hungry every time I wake up?”
Complaining in a small voice, Pei Yao threw off the covers and got out of bed to find food.
The villa late at night was quiet and empty. She made her way down the stairs until she saw the kitchen, letting out a silent sigh of relief.
Running over in her slippers, Pei Yao wondered to herself when she had moved house as she skillfully opened the refrigerator. Her eyes instantly lit up with a smile when she saw the chilled desserts inside.
Unable to even wait to get back to the bedroom, Pei Yao—completely defeated by hunger—squatted on the floor to take small bites.
By the time footsteps sounded behind her, she was already on her second serving.
Her posture was relaxed and leisurely as she leaned against the spacious, clean kitchen island. Her long legs, visible beneath her robe, swayed gently in time with her good mood.
Gu Lian, who had come downstairs in the middle of the night because she was thirsty, merely cast a lazy glance in that direction. Because the lights weren’t on and she only saw a back, Gu Lian instinctively assumed the person was Gu Fei.
Having no interest in making conversation, Gu Lian withdrew her gaze and grabbed a can of beer, turning to head back upstairs. However, she stopped herself after remembering something.
“Gu Fei, I have no problem with you being promiscuous, but don’t let it affect the group’s image.”
“What?”
Pei Yao, who was immersed in her dessert, was startled by the sudden voice behind her. She never expected a stranger to suddenly appear in her house. Moreover, the stranger’s first words were so bizarre.
Her reaction and voice made Gu Lian realize she had mistaken her for someone else. Frowning instinctively, she stared at the dim, blurred face a few meters away for a moment. Then she remembered that Auntie Sun had mentioned Gu Fei brought a friend home today.
“You”
Turning around, she prepared to approach Pei Yao, but was interrupted by Gu Fei, who had discovered her wife was missing.
“Wife”
Gu Fei, thinking that “Qin Qingwei” had actually moved to a different room, ran out of the bedroom in a panic. Her voice, though intentionally lowered for the night, was full of a flustered tone that was clearly heard by the two people downstairs.
Frowning silently, Gu Lian dropped the idea of speaking to Pei Yao again. Holding her beer, she turned and walked upstairs.
“She’s downstairs.”
As Gu Fei emerged from an empty guest room, Gu Lian passed her and gave a cold reminder.
“Sister.”
Startled to run into Gu Lian, Gu Fei froze for a second. Realizing the meaning of the reminder, she nodded and ran downstairs.
Behind her, she left Gu Lian with a meaningful, searching look. If she remembered correctly, Auntie Sun had said this afternoon that Gu Fei and this woman were just friends.
Friends can be called “Wife” too, huh.
With a cold laugh, Gu Lian curled her lips. Gu Fei better not let her private life affect the group’s image.
“What did you… just call me?”
In the first floor kitchen, Pei Yao looked at Gu Fei with a somewhat unreadable expression. If she remembered correctly, she and Gu Fei had only just gotten engaged. In fact, they had only met twice. How did Gu Fei become so familiar that she could move in without a word and even call her “Wife”?
“Teacher Song.”
Pursing her lips, Gu Fei understandingly changed the name. However, Pei Yao’s brow only furrowed deeper.
Looking down at the dessert in her hand, Pei Yao took another spoonful and put it in her mouth, silently meeting Gu Fei’s gaze while she ate.
“What’s wrong?”
The questioning and anger in her eyes left Gu Fei a bit dazed.
“Is this your house?” Pei Yao spoke calmly only after finishing the dessert.
“Yes.”
Gradually realizing something was wrong, Gu Fei unconsciously touched the bracelet on her wrist.
“Was that woman just now your sister?”
“Yes.”
Facing Pei Yao’s growing scrutiny, Gu Fei stood up straight and asked tentatively, “Is something the matter?”
Pei Yao didn’t speak. She set her plate aside, crossed her arms, and walked in a circle around Gu Fei, letting out a cold laugh as she inspected her.
“Gu Fei, I admit you’re very beautiful, and it’s not like I feel nothing for you, but…”
Just as Gu Fei was feeling shy over her wife’s blunt praise, Pei Yao suddenly changed her tone and reached out to grab her collar.
“That’s no excuse for you to mess around behind my back.”
“I haven’t.”
Meeting Pei Yao’s angry gaze, Gu Fei slowly raised both hands in denial to show her innocence.
“Is that so?”
Staring into her clear, soft eyes, Pei Yao bit her lip with a slightly unnatural expression.
“Then tell me—why did your sister say you’re promiscuous? And… who is Teacher Song?”
Realizing she was being a bit rough, Pei Yao let go of Gu Fei’s collar. However, the thin fabric of the nightgown had already become disheveled from her tugging. The neckline was almost wide open.
Half of Gu Fei’s shoulder and her delicate collarbone were clearly visible to her. Gu Fei herself, however, was completely unaware of this.
Instinctively moving forward, Gu Fei gently took her palm.
“I really haven’t.”
Unable to think of a way to explain at the moment, Gu Fei could only offer a sincere denial, trying to make the “Qin Qingwei” in front of her believe her. Because of her proximity and her slightly leaning posture, Pei Yao saw everything.
Her face flushed slightly. Unable to help herself, she reached out and touched her.
“Wife.”
Gu Fei, realizing the situation a beat late, looked at her with a red face.
“I’ll believe you for now. But if I catch you cheating, we’re breaking the engagement…”
Pei Yao, now completely captivated by her beauty, squeezed her palm. She had nearly pulled Gu Fei’s nightgown halfway off, yet she didn’t forget to warn her.
“Okay.”
Gu Fei, seeing Qin Qingwei reveal her possessiveness so bluntly for the first time, nodded with a crimson face.
Pei Yao, already dizzied by the attraction, almost crawled into her arms. Gu Fei held her with one hand, her gaze drifting toward the empty dessert plates nearby. There were two of them.
Surprised, Gu Fei looked down at the infatuated Pei Yao in her arms, feeling both amused and sorry for her.
“Did you not get enough to eat at dinner? Are you still hungry?”
“Mm, hungry…” Pei Yao responded unconsciously as she pressed her against the kitchen island, trying to get closer.
“Are you going to feed me well?”
Their necklines were almost equally disheveled. As their skin touched, Pei Yao wrapped her arms around Gu Fei’s neck and spoke with a smile full of deep meaning.
