Mistakenly Seen as a Scumbag by My Wife with Seven Personalities - Chapter 19.3
When they left the lounge, Qin Qingwei had changed into the clothes Gu Fei had prepared for her there; unlike the last time, the size was a perfect fit.
Before leaving, Qin Qingwei cast one last glance at the extra office chair. After two seconds of silence, she looked at the still-flushed Gu Fei beside her, stroked the corner of her eye, and spoke softly.
“Since Ms. Pei isn’t an ordinary secretary, it’s best not to slight her by making her share an office with you. It will also be more convenient for your work, right?”
“…Right.” Gu Fei, completely dazed by her wife’s charms, nodded in agreement. She immediately called Secretary Xu on the intercom to make arrangements.
“Move that chair out and set up a separate office for Secretary Pei to use.”
“…Understood, Chairman Gu.” Secretary Xu nodded with a professional, unchanging expression, taking the opportunity to sneak a glance at Qin Qingwei. She felt even more certain of her theory.
The Chairman was absolutely interested in Ms. Qin, and Ms. Qin was clearly not indifferent to the Chairman. The removal of that office chair and the new office for Secretary Pei were the best proof.
Ms. Qin was clearly jealous.
Believing she had seen through everything, Secretary Xu continued to dutifully contribute to the Chairman’s happy future.
On the other side, Feng Qian’s irritation hadn’t subsided even by the time she stepped into the elevator.
Yesterday afternoon alone, five artists had requested to terminate their contracts. Although she profited from the cancellation fees, those were only short-term gains. She had spent a lot of effort cultivating those artists; if they became big stars after jumping ship, she would lose out significantly.
“Sister Feng, do you think this has something to do with Qin Qingwei?” Standing beside her, Zhao Yuanyuan hesitated as she held her arm. “You only met her girlfriend yesterday morning, and then the company had trouble in the afternoon…”
Feng Qian pulled her lips back in an impatient sneer, glancing sideways. “That person is just a driver. Do you really think she has that much power? To be able to move Gu Group Entertainment?”
Feng Qian would rather believe the Gu Group saw potential in those artists than believe she was being targeted intentionally. After all, she had just secured a spokesperson contract from the headquarters; there was no reason for Gu Group Entertainment to target her now.
“What if it’s the person behind her?” Zhao Yuanyuan bit her lip, clutching the phone in her bag as she spoke in a low voice.
“What do you mean?” The elevator reached the designated floor. As Feng Qian stepped out, she frowned at her.
“It’s just…” With an expression full of complexity and excitement, Zhao Yuanyuan pulled Feng Qian toward a nearby stairwell. “Let me show you something.”
As they moved away, Gu Fei, who had just come out of a meeting room, frowned instinctively upon seeing them. She had intended to see Qin Qingwei to the meeting room for the signing, but she hadn’t expected to run into these two. With a calm face, she walked toward the elevator.
“…Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong?!”
A sharp, muffled voice suddenly erupted from the stairwell. Gu Fei’s pace faltered. After a thought, she changed direction and moved closer to the sound.
Inside the empty stairwell, Feng Qian stared at the phone screen Zhao Yuanyuan held out. It showed a slightly blurred photo.
“This is a photo I took yesterday when Qin Qingwei’s girlfriend was getting into a car. As soon as she opened the door, the woman inside reached out to hug her!”
“She’s… cheating?” Feng Qian’s eyes widened in shock. She tried to see the face of the woman in the car, but the photo was too blurry—one could only see the two people embracing.
But one thing was certain: the person in the car definitely wasn’t Qin Qingwei. As a secretary, Gu Fei must have been accompanying the Chairman to the mall. So that meant…
“She and the Chairman are in that kind of relationship?” Feng Qian was stunned for a moment.
“Mmhmm!” Seeing that she finally understood, Zhao Yuanyuan nodded excitedly.
After a few seconds of daze, Feng Qian looked back down at the photo and let out a cold laugh. “No wonder she was so arrogant yesterday. It turns out she has the Chairman backing her up…”
So that woman surnamed Gu was two-timing behind the Chairman’s back.
“Sister, the trouble with our company was definitely her doing. She probably used that face of hers to whisper in the Chairman’s ear, using the Chairman’s hand to get revenge for Qin Qingwei!”
“No wonder…” Feng Qian nodded in agreement. She wondered why the Gu Group would suddenly change their minds and ask Qin Qingwei to be a spokesperson; it turned out it was through the back door.
She just wondered if Qin Qingwei would still be willing to take the job if she knew about this… At that thought, Feng Qian couldn’t stop her cold smile. She’d probably go crazy on the spot, just like her useless mother.
“Since that woman Gu loves Qin Qingwei so much that she’s willing to use another woman’s money to support her, then I’ll give her the chance!”
Regardless, making Qin Qingwei money meant making her own company money. She had no reason to refuse. Thinking this, Feng Qian straightened her suit and turned to leave. Before exiting, she gave Zhao Yuanyuan a warning look.
“Not a word of this to anyone. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting. If you drive her crazy and the company loses money, we’re all finished!”
“…I understand.” Zhao Yuanyuan nodded, feeling a bit disgruntled at being seen through. She hadn’t actually planned to tell Feng Qian; she wanted to find a chance to let Qin Qingwei “accidentally” see the photo to strike a blow against her, as revenge for being scolded until she cried the other day.
Around the corner of the wall a few steps from the stairwell, Gu Fei stood in thought, looking at the bracelet on her wrist. Although Feng Qian’s conclusion was miles away from the truth, she had accurately realized that Gu Fei was indeed targeting her.
However, Gu Fei really couldn’t stand her disdainful tone and her plan to exploit Qin Qingwei.
In the meeting room.
There was an empty seat between Feng Qian and Qin Qingwei, and the atmosphere was heavy and silent.
Until Manager Liu from the Brand Department arrived late.
“Apologies for making you both wait. Regarding the endorsement contract, I just received notice from Chairman Gu that a few supplementary clauses need to be explained in advance.”
Feng Qian’s expression shifted slightly, and she instinctively leaned forward. Behind her, Zhao Yuanyuan couldn’t suppress a look of malicious delight as she interjected, “Did Chairman Gu change her mind?”
Manager Liu gave a polite smile. “Of course not.” She pushed the contract toward Qin Qingwei. “Ms. Qin, this is the latest draft. Please take a look; feel free to ask if you have any questions.”
Qin Qingwei nodded and opened the folder. She knew the contract itself wouldn’t be an issue, but she was curious about these “supplementary clauses.”
“Full-line endorsement?” Unlike Qin Qingwei’s calm, Feng Qian stared at the new lines of text with excitement.
“Yes,” Manager Liu replied. “For the next three years, Ms. Qin will be the spokesperson for products across all Gu Group subsidiaries. This is just a preliminary cooperation; the contract can be renewed after three years if Ms. Qin is willing.”
Zhao Yuanyuan, listening from behind, grit her teeth in jealousy. What kind of power does Qin Qingwei’s girlfriend have to make the Chairman so obedient?
Feng Qian, on the other hand, was beaming. Endorsing every product under the Gu Group meant an astronomical sum in fees alone. Qin Qingwei really found a good girlfriend. Even after landing a rich woman, she hasn’t forgotten to help her make money.
However, as Feng Qian flipped further, her smile froze. She pointed at the final clause, her voice rising with anger. “Manager Liu, what is the meaning of this?”
“Exactly what it says. Chairman Gu hopes Ms. Qin receives the compensation she deserves.”
“But the split of endorsement fees is an internal matter of our agency. Isn’t this… overstepping?” Feng Qian suppressed her fury.
“This is Chairman Gu’s requirement. If you disagree, the contract is void,” Manager Liu said flatly. She then turned to Qin Qingwei. “Please don’t take offense. Chairman Gu asked me to tell you that she is a loyal fan of yours. These clauses are only to protect your legitimate rights.”
Manager Liu felt a bit worried herself. Giving the agency only a 3% cut of the endorsement fees was unheard of. No wonder Feng Qian was fuming.
“Please thank Chairman Gu for her care,” Qin Qingwei said, preparing to stand up. To her, the contract didn’t matter; knowing Gu Fei was silently looking out for her was enough.
“Wait,” Feng Qian snapped, her forehead veins throbbing. “I didn’t say I wouldn’t sign. But before I do, I want to see Chairman Gu in person.”
She suspected Qin Qingwei’s girlfriend was behind this and decided to expose the “cheating” directly to the Chairman. Even if she lost the endorsement, she wanted to stop the suppression of her company.
Manager Liu smiled politely. “I’m sorry, but Chairman Gu is busy.”
“I have something very important to tell her—”
“Manager Feng, Chairman Gu is truly busy today. She has no time to see you.” Manager Liu interrupted her and handed her a pen. “Sign or don’t sign. Please decide quickly.”
The Chairman is truly a psychic, Manager Liu thought. She even predicted Feng Qian would demand a meeting.
“Sister…” Zhao Yuanyuan whispered from behind, looking at her phone. “All three of our ongoing productions have been halted. The investors pulled out midway…”
“…I’ll sign.” Driven to the brink of collapse, Feng Qian signed the paper.
Qin Qingwei watched with a gentle smile, signing the contract as well. But as she finished the last stroke, her expression shifted slightly.
Leaving the meeting room, Feng Qian sneered at Qin Qingwei, who was still sitting there lost in thought. “You really found yourself a good girlfriend.”
Fu Jinxi, who was currently looking at her nails, glanced at her with boredom. “Do you really need to remind me?”
Feng Qian turned and stomped away, livid. Once she was gone, Fu Jinxi opened her phone’s front camera to check her reflection.
“Why is she always wearing such light makeup? No charm at all…” She grumbled, pulling a black mask from her bag. She planned to find a place to redo her makeup and then give Gu Fei a “surprise” to force a reconciliation.
When Gu Fei came down from her meeting to find her wife, Qin Qingwei was gone. Alerted, she called her.
“Wife?”
“Mm,” Fu Jinxi replied, her voice muffled by the mask.
“Didn’t we agree to get your nails removed today? I’m done with work. Where are you?”
Fu Jinxi looked at her fingers. She had specifically chosen this style for Gu Fei. Why would she remove it? Damned Qin Qingwei. Why are her tastes always the opposite of mine?
“Do you think these nails are ugly?” Fu Jinxi asked gloomily.
“No… they’re very pretty.”
“Focus on your work. I’ll go by myself.” Fu Jinxi hung up. She decided to go straight home to prepare. If Gu Fei came home and mistook her for Qin Qingwei, they could “seal the deal” and then Gu Fei would have to get back together with her!
Fu Jinxi began searching her phone for “Three tips to make your girlfriend addicted.”
Gu Fei didn’t notice anything wrong. She drove to the hospital to talk to the doctor.
She needed to be careful when contacting the different personalities. She couldn’t let the primary personality notice, and she needed to understand each persona’s background to find the root of the trauma.
Please don’t let there be more personalities, she prayed. Each one represented a deep wound.
When Gu Fei arrived home, the house was dark. All the curtains were drawn.
“Qingwei?”
She reached for the light switch, but a familiar rose fragrance enveloped her from behind.
“I’m here.”
“Why are the lights off?” Gu Fei tried to turn around, but Fu Jinxi held her waist tight.
“Don’t move. You have to promise me first, keep your eyes closed when you turn around.”
“Okay,” Gu Fei whispered, her ears turning red. She was guided to turn around, eyes shut tight. “What now, Qingwei?”
Fu Jinxi took Gu Fei’s hand and placed it on her own collarbone. Her eyes were red with longing. “Guess how many layers I’m wearing. If you’re right, there’s a reward.”
