Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 92
When Qi Niao returned, Lian Yi had already been scrubbed clean by Sha Lanyi and was currently wrapped in a bath towel, warming herself by the stove.
The moment she saw Qi Niao, Lian Yi’s eyes lit up. She immediately sprang from Sha Lanyi’s arms and leaped into Qi Niao’s embrace, rubbing against her vigorously while crying out in a soft, sweet voice, “Lord Si Shi!”
Qi Niao smiled and accepted the greeting, stroking her back. With a flick of a spell, she dried the water and ruffled the fluffy cat fur twice before saying, “It seems your memories have returned.”
Sha Lanyi hurriedly stood up, bowed to Qi Niao, and then quickly walked out of the clinic.
“Lord Si Shi, I missed you so much, waaaaah…” Lian Yi buried her face in Qi Niao’s clothes, weeping. “Master was killed! Please, I beg you to save her!”
Qi Niao carried her over to the warm stone bed in the clinic and gave her soft belly a stroke. Looking at the curled-up ball of fur, she sighed, “Oh, you. You went down to the lower realm, how did you develop the bad habit of eating humans?”
“It was those humans who hurt me and my caretaker first…” Lian Yi said aggrievedly. “I won’t eat them anymore. I only beg you to save Master!”
Saving the person was the priority. Qi Niao set her down and drew a formation on the warm stone bed. Moments later, a body appeared before Lian Yi’s eyes. It was ninety percent similar to Liu Fenyun’s previous body, dressed in futuristic urban clothing. Her eyes were tightly shut, but her expression was incredibly serene.
“Who is this?” Lian Yi leaned in and sniffed. Her nose was filled with a familiar scent, and she was both shocked and overjoyed. “Is this Master’s body?”
She remembered that when Liu Fenyun went to the lower realm to undergo her tribulation, she had taken both her divine body and her soul with her.
Qi Niao nodded and drew another formation, signaling Lian Yi to lie in the center. She cautioned, “Stay in this position and don’t move. Separating the souls might be a bit painful. If you can’t stand it, tell me, and I’ll give you some anesthesia.”
“I don’t need anesthesia.” Lian Yi knew that if she took anesthesia, she wouldn’t be able to see Liu Fenyun wake up immediately. She shook her head. “Please, begin quickly.”
Within Lian Yi’s sea of consciousness, the solitary Liu Fenyun finally had the chance to speak to the System.
“Can I see the panel now?” She looked at the large floating screen in front of her, propping up her chin. “After my accidental death, MaoMao’s favorability and blackening values really did hit the maximum. So, you really are a freaking romance system, or a yandere cultivation system, aren’t you?”
Thinking of the terrifying way the “cat” had acted during her “episode,” Liu Fenyun couldn’t help but swear.
“Apologies, Host. I am merely the ‘Special System for the God of Medicine,'” the System retorted. “As for my specific functions, they were all set by you. You will understand once you recover your memories.”
The System felt wronged. It was merely a tribulation accompaniment program. Whatever functions the God of Medicine chose for it, it had to have, it could only follow the Host’s choices.
After all that talk, it turned out she had brought this upon herself in the past. Liu Fenyun sighed and closed the page. “I see. I’ve misunderstood you.”
“Thank you for your understanding,” the System replied, its voice returning to a cold, mechanical female tone. “A quick reminder: the divine aura of the Lord Si Shi is entering the sea of consciousness. If you wish to leave, do not resist the aura, let it wrap around you.”
Liu Fenyun was overjoyed. She was about to ask “Where?” when a piece of cyan-colored gauze slowly drifted down from the sky of her consciousness.
She hurried over, stood beneath the gauze, and waited quietly for it to land on her head and slowly wrap her up.
The gauze bundled her like a zongzi. Liu Fenyun felt her body float up, rising into the pitch-black sky as countless light orbs receded.
Her vision went black, followed by a sensation of weightlessness. When Liu Fenyun regained her sense of touch, she felt a faint pain in her chest. However, a wave of warmth soon flowed from her dantian, quickly soothing the ache.
“Alright, open your eyes and hug your cat,” Lord Si Shi’s voice rang in her ear. “However, this body of yours has died suddenly once. For the time being, you should rest in bed and avoid any strenuous exercise.”
Realizing she might have regained her body from before the transmigration, Liu Fenyun was quite shocked. She opened her eyes to check, but her vision was immediately blocked by snow white cat fur.
“…Yiyi,” Liu Fenyun called out softly.
As Lord Si Shi had said, her body was currently very weak; even her voice was faint.
Lian Yi let out a meow and lay down beside her face, exposing her soft belly for a rub.
Liu Fenyun tried to lift her hand but found she had no strength. She simply rested her hand on the cat’s stomach, meeting those jewel-like deep blue eyes.
After staring for a moment, the cat squinted her eyes and fell asleep shortly after.
“She insisted on watching you wake up. Separating your souls was very painful, yet she refused anesthesia,” Lord Si Shi (Qi Niao) added. “Let her sleep for a while. You should sleep too.”
“Thank you… Qi Niao,” Liu Fenyun whispered her thanks. “Traveling through time and space… it must have been hard.”
“Oh, don’t be so polite with me,” Qi Niao laughed. “However, the people you two ‘possessed’ have also woken up. You’ll have to find a way to deal with that.”
Liu Fenyun was utterly confused until she rested for a full day and met with Sha Lanyi and Chong Yun, who came to visit. Then, it all clicked.
Chong Yun had no memory of the period she was possessed. However, she knew she had been poisoned five years ago while testing medicine. If a deity hadn’t inhabited her body, she would have met the King of Hell back then. Upon seeing Liu Fenyun, she immediately thanked her for saving her life.
Liu Fenyun smiled bitterly. “Don’t be so quick to thank me. The Kingdom of Liuzhi sent you to the Kingdom of Zhuhuang for a political marriage, your partner was this Seventh Princess. However, the Fire God’s doctrine in Zhuhuang forbids same-sex marriage. I’m afraid neither of you can return, or you’ll be sentenced to execution by fire.”
“Eh, what does it matter? A physician should travel the world anyway. If I can’t go back, I won’t go back!” Chong Yun didn’t mind. After thinking for a bit, she said apologetically to Sha Lanyi, “But I still don’t know if I like women. I wouldn’t want to waste Your Highness’s time.”
Sha Lanyi gave a shallow smile. “It is no matter. Even if we aren’t a married couple, you have the Witch-Doctor seal, you may continue to practice medicine among my people.”
“I wouldn’t dare!” Chong Yun waved her hand. “The old Emperor was really dishonorable. I was minding my own business at the medical hall, staying out of trouble, and he had so many sons, why did he have to drag me into a political marriage… Speaking of which, where are my Master and my Mother? Are they doing well?”
Liu Fenyun stroked the sleeping white cat in her arms and slowly recounted the events regarding Yu Qingyue and Madame Chong.
Chong Yun wasn’t surprised to hear her Master was a demon; she had accidentally seen Yu Qingyue’s demon form as a child and kept her mouth shut. Even Yu Qingyue didn’t know she knew.
However, hearing that her mother had given Lian Yi a Five Thunder Command, she stood up in shock, murmuring, “I knew Mother wasn’t an ordinary person! But why does she always leave me behind…”
She remained silent with a dark expression for a long while before leaving to find Meng Nie, leaving only Sha Lanyi sitting by the bed.
“It seems we don’t need to worry about Physician Chong,” Liu Fenyun smiled. “And Your Highness? Will you return to Zhuhuang, or stay in the Demon Realm?”
“Since I am the Saintess of Zhuhuang, I must fulfill my duties until I pass away,” Sha Lanyi said, lowering her gaze. “Moreover, those two Witch-Doctor envoys died searching for me. Regardless, I must return to give their families and my Father an explanation.”
She paused. “Lord God, my Master and the others… will they truly come to the Demon Realm? I remember Master hates the Demon Race most…”
“Priestess Luo is now a demon as well, though it wasn’t by her choice, but an accident,” Liu Fenyun said. “But Physician Yu’s home is in the Demon Realm. If they love each other, Priestess Luo will surely follow her here.”
Sha Lanyi nodded slightly. “I hope so.”
Having spoken quite a bit, Liu Fenyun felt the pain in her chest returning. She apologized to Sha Lanyi and went back to resting with her cat.
She could finally understand what people meant by “love makes you lose your wits.” Her past self, in order to use death to reset the world and be with her cat as soon as possible, had actually come up with the idea of dying from exhaustion while studying for finals.
Now suffering the consequences, although she had her body back, it would take at least a month or two to recover. Whether there would be complications depended on the progress of her memory recovery.
As the God of Medicine, once her memories were fully restored, healing herself would be easy.
The cat in her arms suddenly let out a whimper, and her body curled up as if enduring pain. Liu Fenyun hurried to stroke her back, guiding the dense spiritual energy from the surroundings slowly into her meridians.
Although separating the souls wouldn’t damage the cat’s spirit, the pain caused by the separation was unavoidable.
Since Liu Fenyun was now using a divine body, she didn’t need to eat or drink. The woman and the cat lay on the warm stone bed for five full days.
During this time, Meng Nie came in once to tell her that Chong Yun had left the Demon Realm to seek out Madame Chong at the Qingmu Immortal Mountain. Before Chong Yun left, Qi Niao had specifically tested her spiritual roots and found she had a top-tier Water Root, a prime candidate for any cultivation sect, before allowing her to go.
“The City Lord sent two Feather Demons to accompany her. They fly fast, they should reach Qingmu Mountain in another two days,” Meng Nie sighed. “Actually, I wish I could be as carefree as them. Unfortunately, I have no spiritual roots, so I can only fight for the rest of my life.”
Liu Fenyun thought for a moment and couldn’t help saying, “If you wish to cultivate, you could also become an outer sect disciple. If I may be blunt, the Kingdom of Liuzhi is not far from collapse, but you are still young…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, only looking at Meng Nie.
Meng Nie laughed. “Someone has to choose this path. After all, the land of Liuzhi raised me. If it is to fall, I have no choice but to fight for it until the very last moment. I can’t exactly follow your lead and become a female ‘Prince Consort’.”
The two shared a smile.
“Sigh, Qi Ran is going to undergo her tribulation today. I have to see her off.” Having laughed enough, Meng Nie stood up with a sigh. “She is a friend, after all.”
Qi Ran had committed great sins and carried too many blood debts, she was destined to undergo tribulations to atone.
Meng Nie accompanied her all the way into the depths of Kongmeng City. Seeing a pitch-black formation, she couldn’t help but ask Qi Niao, “I want to know, what kind of punishment will Qi Ran receive?”
“She will go to another world,” Qi Niao said. “Once her merits outweigh her faults, she can return.”
Meng Nie smacked her lips and looked at Qi Ran, who had already stepped into the formation. She said regretfully, “I see. Then I hope I can see you again in my lifetime.”
A demon’s life is much longer than a human’s. Even if Qi Ran could return one day, Meng Nie might no longer be in this world.
“Meng Nie…” Seeing her eyes reddening, Qi Ran wanted to say something to comfort her but hesitated.
“Just go, and don’t think too much. Maybe that place will be the paradise you want,” Meng Nie curled her lips. “It’s a completely strange world where no one knows you. You are like a blank sheet of paper; that way, you can dye yourself whatever color you like.”
The two looked at each other in silence for a while. Qi Ran asked, “Chong Yun has already left. Are you heading back too?”
“Yes. After all, I am General Meng of Liuzhi,” Meng Nie laughed. Seeing Qi Niao starting to activate the formation, she waved her hand at Qi Ran. “Goodbye. Live well in the new world, and don’t overthink things. You can even find a partner and spend your life with her, just like your Senior Sister and Liu Fenyun.”
The formation emitted a piercing light. Qi Ran stared at her, finally giving her a military salute, offering a pious blessing: “In the name of the God of Support, I wish you a safe journey and glorious luck in battle.”
