Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 43
When Lianyi woke from her sleep, she found that her body no longer hurt at all. If not for the bitter medicinal taste still filling her mouth, she would have suspected Liu Fenyun had done something to her.
It was already deep into the night; the Morning Star Palace was silent. Lianyi reached out casually, and her palm touched something soft and familiar.
Liu Fenyun woke the moment she was touched. She grabbed Lianyi’s hand, blinking sleepily. “Your Highness, does anywhere feel uncomfortable?”
“I feel good everywhere.” Lianyi laughed, turned over, and sprawled herself atop Liu Fenyun.
Liu Fenyun let out a stifled groan, braced Lianyi’s shoulders, and forced a wry smile. “Your Highness… heavy.”
She had just woken from sleep and had no strength at all.
“You dare say I’m heavy?” Lianyi pinched her chin in mock anger. “Did you memorize the book I had you read during the day? I’m going to test you!”
Hearing her so energetic, Liu Fenyun relaxed. She poked Lianyi’s stomach, making her squirm with laughter and roll off to the side only to climb back onto her moments later.
“Would Your Highness like some water to rinse your mouth?” Liu Fenyun held her and helped her sit up gently. “I’ll go pour it.”
The bitterness in her mouth was indeed unbearable, so Lianyi agreed and lay obediently back on her pillow, waiting for her to return. After rinsing, she asked, “What medicine did you feed me? I feel completely healed.”
“It was the healing holy medicine Qiran gave us.” Liu Fenyun lit a lamp and answered honestly. “But to be honest, I didn’t expect it to work that well. I was afraid of side effects, so I didn’t dare give you too much.”
Lianyi stuck out her tongue and scrunched her brows. “Just a little of it is so bitter…”
“No helping it. Good medicine is always bitter.” After watching her drink, Liu Fenyun put the bowl aside. “Is Your Highness hungry? I can make something.”
“No need. There’s some baked naan on the table. I had Lihua bring it from the Hundred Dishes Hall today. Go bring it to me… and feed me.”
Liu Fenyun didn’t want her eating dry food, but Lianyi clung to her and refused to let her leave. Remembering the way the cat had cried into her chest earlier that day, she gave in. She plucked two oranges from the medicinal garden, peeled them, and placed the segments into a bowl.
While Lianyi wolfed down the naan, Liu Fenyun casually fed her orange slices.
The orange seeds had been poorly picked; they were so sour they made Liu Fenyun’s teeth ache. But Lianyi found them quite tasty. By the time she finished barely half the naan, the entire bowl of orange slices had gone into her stomach.
Only then did Lianyi remember she hadn’t left any for Liu Fenyun, and she felt a little regretful. In the romance books she read, there were always scenes where Dao companions fed each other grapes, cherries, or orange segments. Even the written descriptions made her heart flutter.
Seeing Lianyi so lively after waking almost like a different person, Liu Fenyun still wasn’t reassured. She took her pulse again and inspected her most serious injuries.
While her hand was on Lianyi’s stomach, Lianyi suddenly pressed down, forcing her hand deeper and making her stomach gurgle loudly, flushing Liu Fenyun’s face red as she snatched her hand away.
“Your Highness, don’t tease… please let me check properly…”
“The medicine works great. I’m not hurting anymore.” Lianyi knew that pretending to be pitiful would soften Liu Fenyun’s heart, but she still chose honesty. “I just can’t fall asleep.”
When Liu Fenyun looked up, Lianyi suddenly hooked an arm around her neck, pulling her close.
“You promised me. Don’t forget.”
How could Liu Fenyun forget? The moment their eyes met, everything she had seen in Lianyi’s spiritual sea earlier flashed back into her mind.
To think of that book Lianyi had shoved into her hands it had shocked her senseless. It contained nothing but indescribable things.
“Of course I haven’t forgotten.” Liu Fenyun forced a smile. “But Your Highness just recovered from severe injuries… perhaps tonight we should.”
“Lianyi’s blackening value rises to 80 points.”
The system suddenly spoke, startling Liu Fenyun nearly out of her soul.
“Eighty?! Already?!”
Even the favorability was only at 90 this jump terrified her.
Sensing the cat’s aura shift, she panicked and changed her words immediately:
“Let’s… have a really good time, okay?”
The physician who serves a cat trying to survive on the spot!
Lianyi: ???
“Blackening value dropping back to 50 points. Congratulations, Host,” the system droned. But Liu Fenyun felt like it was laughing.
Cursing internally at the emotional roller coaster, Liu Fenyun could only honor her earlier brave words and prepare to give her cat an all-inclusive service.
First, a bath…
It was too late to use the warm spring; no attendants would be awake to fetch clean water. Not wanting the trouble, Liu Fenyun locked the bedchamber doors and took Lianyi to the medicinal garden.
There was a boiler there for heating water and large wooden tubs for medicinal baths. She fetched plenty of creek water, heated it, then dragged spare bedding inside to make a simple pallet.
Seeing Lianyi’s confused gaze, she stubbornly insisted, “This is called taking the world as our home. Look the sky is like a giant ceiling, and the ground is like.”
Before she finished, Lianyi tackled her onto the pallet. Thank heavens the bedding was thick; otherwise, Liu Fenyun would have been flattened.
Lianyi kissed between her brows and murmured, “Compared to the Morning Star Palace, this place really is more suitable for us.”
Liu Fenyun gave two dry chuckles, half joking, half serious. “I think… I still prefer your spiritual sea…”
“But the spiritual sea doesn’t let me enjoy myself properly.” Lianyi narrowed her eyes.
Once the water was ready, Liu Fenyun adjusted the temperature, then hesitating brought out several more tubs.
“Ayun plans to change the water for me all night?” Lianyi smiled at her return.
Liu Fenyun nearly tripped over herself.
Why did she suddenly feel like a greedy, unreasonable tyrant?
Even though only one side was doing all the pleasing…
Ever since winter’s end, the two of them had already learned to pleasure each other in various ways. The only difference was in reality, Lianyi was always the one being pleased in the spiritual sea, Liu Fenyun was the one being indulged.
Once they soaked together, determined to lower the blackening value quickly, Liu Fenyun suddenly had a bold idea.
When she brought out the nail trimming tools, Lianyi froze then realized and her joy exploded.
“Ayun finally understood?” She pulled her close, blushing. “But I’ve never done it in reality… If I hurt you by mistake…”
“I’m a physician,” Liu Fenyun cut her off with absolute dominance. “What is there to fear?”
She quickly paid for those words.
Lianyi may not have had real world practice, but in the spiritual sea she had tried countless times and fully understood Liu Fenyun’s body.
The first time she felt this kind of ecstasy physically, Liu Fenyun’s voice changed entirely. She cried herself hoarse. After relaxing and changing the water, she was so embarrassed she turned her back, feeling like a shameless woman.
“Did it feel bad?” Lianyi hugged her from behind carefully. “I’m sorry… I really don’t know how. If you didn’t like it, then then you can do it instead…”
After adjusting her emotions, Liu Fenyun turned back with a smile. “No… Your Highness is quite talented in this. I can’t compare.”
Caught off guard by the compliment, Lianyi’s cheeks flushed a soft red.
“I’m glad you liked it.” She laughed lightly. “Should I continue?”
Another round ensued, leaving Liu Fenyun so overwhelmed she didn’t even want to take the initiative anymore. No wonder Lianyi always welcomed her touch if it were her, she’d enjoy it too.
But she had promised her cat to let her fully enjoy herself tonight.
So they switched roles. With personal experience now, Liu Fenyun was far more precise with her strength and technique.
“I’m very happy.”
When the night of revelry finally ended, Lianyi clung to her, brushing her face against hers.
“So am I.” Liu Fenyun imitated a cat and rubbed back gently. “I didn’t expect it to be so… addictive.”
When they left the bath, Liu Fenyun nearly forgot how to walk. Thankfully Lianyi supported her, helped her dry off, dressed her, and led her to the nearby pallet.
“Does Ayun want to do the soul-connection again?” Lianyi asked deliberately as they lay down.
After all the chaos, Liu Fenyun was already sleepy. She yawned. “Too tired… maybe next time?”
As soon as she spoke, she remembered the blackening value and hurried to check only to hear Lianyi laughing softly, “Okay. Ayun, good night.”
The next second, a damp furred ball burrowed into her arms.
Startled, Liu Fenyun looked down to find a big white cat curled obediently against her chest. She stroked her smooth fur and whispered a good night back.
It seemed her cat was tired too, otherwise she would definitely still want to play.
After soothing the sleeping Lianyi, Liu Fenyun finally opened the favorability panel.
Just as she expected, Lianyi’s blackening value was back to zero, and the favorability had risen slightly to 91.
“Is favorability much harder to raise after 90?” Liu Fenyun asked.
“Yes,” the system replied. “And every increase after this point will be accompanied by the blooming of the Azure Ghost Lotus petals. Just now, after reaching 91, the lotus has opened to its third petal.”
Liu Fenyun smiled in satisfaction. “Not bad. Any new functions unlocked?”
“Not at the moment, Host,” the system poured cold water. “However, some information related to the demon realm has been unlocked. Would you like to view it now?”
She wanted to, but she was far too tired and knew she wouldn’t remember anything. She declined, hugged the white cat in her arms, and with a thought, returned to the real bed.
The medicinal garden was still a virtual space. If Lihua or another cat demon subordinate entered and found the room empty, it would cause trouble.
She stroked the cat’s fur for a bit to help her sleep, then drifted off until the sun was high awakened only by being tickled with loose cat fur.
She hadn’t formed her core yet, so naturally Lianyi was still shedding. Only once Lianyi formed her demon core would the shedding stop.
