Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 42.1
But precisely because of this care, she didn’t want anyone or anything to take Yu Yun’s attention away.
Soon, Xian Lihua returned with a bag of herbs. Upon entering, her face was grim.
Xian Lihua entered carrying the packet of herbs, glancing cautiously at Lianyi as she said,
“Lord Liu, that great demon… Qi Ran is here. She says she wants to see you.”
Liu Fenyun was surprised. Her connection with Qi Ran was limited to having treated her injuries once. She had no idea why the demon would seek her out.
“I’ll go see her,” Liu Fenyun nodded. “You go decoct Her Highness’s medicine first. Don’t delay.”
She had only taken a step when Lianyi suddenly grabbed her.
Guessing what Lianyi must be thinking, Liu Fenyun sat back down on the edge of the bed and met her eyes. “Your Highness, rest well. You shouldn’t move around while healing.”
“I won’t move,” Lianyi insisted, tightening her grip on Liu Fenyun’s arm, tears welling up in her eyes. “Go and return quickly otherwise I will come find you.”
Lianyi thought Liu Fenyun would at least soothe her first, but Liu Fenyun merely agreed softly, pried away her hand with care, and practically fled the room.
“Lianyi bit her lip, wiping away the tears that nearly spilled. She summoned Xian Lihua. “Go keep an eye on her.”
Thinking of her cat waiting tearfully for her to return, Liu Fenyun quickened her pace.
Qi Ran had taken human form and was cheerfully chatting with Sha Rulang. Hearing approaching footsteps, she stopped and turned.
“Greetings, Witch Doctor,” Qi Ran said with a bright smile. Yet Liu Fenyun could sense the unwillingness hidden in her eyes.
She instructed a cat demon to prepare tea, then brought Qi Ran to the guest hall. Getting straight to the point, she asked, “What happened?”
“The antidote I gave you that day did you give it to Doctor Yu?” Qi Ran hid her emotions and circled toward another topic.
“Yes, I did,” Liu Fenyun admitted, surprised this was her reason for coming. “To be honest with you, Doctor Yu is my master…”
“I know,” Qi Ran cut her off. “That bottle was my payment for your treatment. What you do with it is your business.”
Liu Fenyun opened her mouth, wanting to ask what Qi Ran had actually come for her cat was waiting for her.
Qi Ran slapped her own cheeks lightly, then put on a very serious expression.
“I heard you excel at making medicine, Witch Doctor. Could you prepare a medicinal guide for me?”
Liu Fenyun: ??
“What condition are we talking about?” Liu Fenyun asked, startled.
She remembered her master saying Qi Ran was her junior sister in the medical sect, so her medical skills shouldn’t be lacking.
“It’s nothing serious, just…” Qi Ran hesitated. “Someone placed a Blood Bond Gu on me. The guiding ingredient must be half-demon blood. I can’t find any half-demons around here…”
It was indeed difficult to find half-demons in the human realm. After thinking briefly, Liu Fenyun had Qi Ran recite the prescription. She simultaneously consulted the system database. Confirming that the formula matched the cure for a Blood Bond Gu, she nodded.
“I can do it, but the medicine will take seven days to prepare. Come to the Saintess Hall in seven days.”
Her own blood could not be given casually. Who knew whether this world had other transmigrators with systems, or sorcerers who used blood as a medium?
Qi Ran agreed repeatedly and stood to leave, but Liu Fenyun called to her,
“And this time, what are you offering as payment?”
If her cat learned she had treated another demon for free, that corruption value would definitely rise again she hadn’t even gotten the previous fifty points down yet.
“Oh, look at me!” Qi Ran quickly and carefully took out a small porcelain vial and set it on the table. “This is my master’s sacred healing medicine. I tried some it works exceptionally well. It’s all yours now.”
Liu Fenyun picked it up. The white porcelain bottle was painted with a light-blue lotus pattern, very similar to the lotus of the Blue Ghost Lotus garden.
A strange sense of familiarity washed over her. She instinctively pocketed the vial, as though it had always belonged to her.
After sending Qi Ran off, she hung the vial on her belt and hurried back to the bedchamber.
Lianyi had already heard the report from Xian Lihua. When she saw Liu Fenyun return slightly out of breath, she didn’t make things difficult but simply had her sit beside her to massage her back.
While Liu Fenyun worked, Lianyi noticed the small porcelain vial at her waist. When her eyes landed on the blue lotus, she trembled she suddenly remembered the figure she had seen in the Blue Ghost Lotus illusion.
“Qi Ran gave you this?!” She snatched the vial. “Who gave it to her?”
Liu Fenyun didn’t expect such a strong reaction. Afraid the medicine inside would spill, she quickly protected it. “It’s her master’s healing medicine. Don’t worry, Your Highness, I’ll take it to the medicine garden for testing right away.”
“Who is her master?” Lianyi murmured, clutching the vial tightly. “I… I’ve seen the owner of this vial before…”
The words “the owner” exploded in Liu Fenyun’s mind like a firecracker.
She immediately thought of the lotus mark on Lianyi’s back but that lotus was pink, not blue.
“Don’t overthink this, Your Highness!” Liu Fenyun tucked the vial into the medicine garden storage, pulled Lianyi into her arms, and let her rest on her chest. She repeated softly, “Be good. You’re mine. No one can take you away.”
Lianyi froze. After a long moment, she finally reacted—and burst into tears.
“I’m yours… wuuu…” She clutched Liu Fenyun’s clothes, soaking them with tears. “Remember that… You must remember. Don’t let anyone steal me away…”
Liu Fenyun hugged her tightly, almost wanting to hide her inside her own body.
Her cat was crying…. crying so heartbreakingly.
The emotions Lianyi had held back finally erupted. She cried without stopping, and Liu Fenyun’s comforting was useless. Only once she had cried herself out did her head tilt as she fell asleep.
Liu Fenyun held her close. With a thought, she transported both of them into the medicine garden.
She had already stored Qi Ran’s porcelain vial inside the research facility. After placing Lianyi under a tree, she entered the facility, put on her lab coat, opened the vial, and began testing the medicine.
“Does the database contain any record of this vial?” she asked the system.
The system checked, then replied with some difficulty, “It does, but the host’s favorability level has not reached the required access threshold.”
Liu Fenyun paused mid-motion.
The system had always answered her questions freely until the favorability panel appeared. Now many pieces of information required higher favorability to unlock, especially those related to the Blue Ghost Lotus.
“I want to see a blooming Blue Ghost Lotus,” Liu Fenyun said instead.
This time the system didn’t refuse. A lotus diagram appeared before her eyes.
Comparing it with the lotus painted on the porcelain vial, she found them nearly identical, though the bottle’s pattern was simpler more like a symbol.
In her original world, certain religions used the lotus as a sacred symbol; many buildings and decorations featured lotus motifs. She closed the image and continued analyzing the medicine.
It seemed the lotus motif must indeed be the personal emblem of the vial’s owner.
If she wanted to help Lianyi recover her lost memories, she would probably need to meet Qi Ran’s master… who was also her own master’s master.
Since her master had come to the human realm to find Qi Ran, she would surely return to the demon realm eventually. This thought eased Liu Fenyun’s worries a little.
Soon, the medicine analysis was complete it was indeed a healing medicine, and especially effective for demons.
Relieved, Liu Fenyun poured half the medicine into her own empty vial, then locked the remaining half and the original porcelain bottle in the research facility’s cold storage. She went out to give Lianyi her medicine.
