Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 15
“But…” Despite her confusion, Liu Fenyun still tried to explain, “Massaging the acupuncture points on your body can help His Highness absorb the medicinal liquids more effectively.”
Lianyi: “…Oh.”
Seeing that she still looked displeased, Liu Fenyun hesitated for a moment, then pulled her clothes aside, took out a small needle case from her pocket, opened it, and quickly inserted a needle into an acupuncture point on Lianyi’s back.
The needle box was specially made by Liu Fenyun so that the needles could be used directly without needing to be sterilized.
Lianyi felt a slight tingling in her back and frowned even more when she saw the needle case in Liu Fenyun’s hand.
“Why did you suddenly poke me?”
“Since Your Highness doesn’t want me to massage you like a servant, I have no choice but to stimulate the acupuncture points with needles,” Liu Fenyun explained seriously. “Don’t worry, this is a form of treatment and won’t leave any marks on you.”
She worked quickly, and as she spoke, two more needles were inserted into Lianyi’s body.
Lianyi was stunned she had never seen this type of therapy before, especially while soaking in a medicinal bath.
Yet, she had to admit that after the needles were inserted, she felt more comfortable.
After finishing the acupuncture, Liu Fenyun put away her needle case and stepped aside, clasping her hands and closing her eyes to sense the “qi” within her body.
She had actually studied martial arts under her master, but the original body’s talent was too poor to cultivate any internal or spiritual power; she could only train her fists and feet. Now, with the mark given by Lianyi, it perfectly compensated for her lack of talent.
A mist quickly rose from the water surface. Curious, Lianyi reached out and brushed through it, looking at Liu Fenyun, who had her eyes tightly shut.
This strange human did not resist the demonic power she was giving, but instead tried to adapt to it.
How interesting.
The needles on Lianyi’s arms made them sore and numb, so she chose not to move, quietly soaking in the medicinal bath, waiting for Liu Fenyun to remove the needles.
After about half an hour, Liu Fenyun opened her eyes and returned to Lianyi’s side.
Just as she was about to remove the needles, she realized that Lianyi had fallen asleep while standing!
Acupuncture can easily consume the patient’s energy, so it is common for them to fall asleep. Sleeping with eyes closed also aids treatment. What Liu Fenyun did not expect was that this cat, even when tired, did not wake her but just fell asleep standing up!
She hurriedly removed the needles and lifted Lianyi out of the water.
Lianyi’s dangling arm lightly brushed against Liu Fenyun, making her shiver uncontrollably.
Wrapping the sleeping cat demon in a bath towel, Liu Fenyun wiped her body while thinking about what she had just said, sighing with a mixture of amusement and exasperation.
Because she wanted to keep Lianyi’s female identity secret, she would not allow any servant to attend to her. Without servants, the only one left to serve her would be the prince consort.
Logically, that made sense, but why did Lianyi seem angry?
Even after lights out, Liu Fenyun couldn’t figure out what she had done to offend the cat lord.
Perhaps because she was asleep and remembering the past, Lianyi had a rare dream.
It was a winter month; she was starving, chest pressed to back, walking step by step through the snow.
She got injured while stealing food and broke a leg, her body covered in blood.
Yet this also gave her a chance to gain sympathy.
She had heard from other small demons in the city that the Seventh Princess, Shalanyi, living in the south of the city, loved to adopt small animals, especially ones like her. So after being injured, she made her way to the southern palace.
It did not take long before she successfully jumped into the courtyard of the Seventh Princess’s mansion, hiding against the wall, mewing softly a sound just faint enough for the young princess, who was outside admiring the snow, to hear.
At that time, Shalanyi was still young and overly sympathetic. Without even preparing her usual coquettish actions, Lianyi was scooped into Shalanyi’s arms and taken to the herbal clinic.
“Winter is cold and hard. Why don’t you stay here?” After her injury healed, Shalanyi asked reluctantly. “I like you very much and will take good care of you. Can you stay to accompany me?”
Lianyi had lost part of her memory, but subconsciously, she knew she was a lazy cat who preferred not moving. If someone genuinely cared for her, she naturally would not leave.
Little did she know that she would later be involuntarily possessed, imprisoned in Shalanyi’s body, experiencing all that Shalanyi should have and enduring her illnesses.
A stomach pain awoke Lianyi. She clutched her abdomen, shivering from the pain, and subconsciously called out, “Ayun!”
The person lying beside her immediately turned, sitting up. Whether she had not been sleeping or was a light sleeper was unclear.
“Where does Your Highness feel uncomfortable?” Liu Fenyun asked, her voice still slightly sleepy.
“My stomach…” Lianyi said, in extreme discomfort, clutching Liu Fenyun’s sleeve.
Liu Fenyun suddenly realized that Lianyi hadn’t eaten dinner tonight she had caused a scene outside the Suoyue Pavilion and then went with the high priest to interrogate someone.
“Please wait a moment, I’ll tell them to prepare some food.” Liu Fenyun said, then quickly got out of bed to dress, but was stopped by Lianyi.
“No need… just stay with me. I’ll call Lihua over,” Lianyi closed her eyes.
Liu Fenyun quickly sensed Xian Lihua’s qi approaching and went to open the window without waiting for further instruction.
The leopard-cat crouched outside, ears perked, ready to obey commands.
“Please bring some food for His Highness,” Liu Fenyun instructed, thinking for a moment before hanging a food container around Xian Lihua’s neck and giving it some small silver coins. “Make it light and easy to digest, nothing greasy.”
Xian Lihua meowed and left with the food container and coins.
After sending her off, Liu Fenyun took a paper packet from her medicine box, opened it, and poured a smaller packet into warm water, then brought it to Lianyi.
This was a medicinal powder she had prepared according to the system’s prescription. It was highly effective for relieving stomach pain, though its effects were temporary, enough to last until Xian Lihua returned.
Lianyi had previously vomited after taking medicine from her. Seeing her bring another bowl, her stomach churned.
“I won’t drink it…”
“This medicine isn’t bitter and nourishes the stomach,” Liu Fenyun reassured her. “Drink it, and your stomach pain will ease significantly.”
Lianyi looked at her suspiciously, then at the bowl of medicine, but still didn’t move.
“Then just take one sip. If it tastes bitter, you don’t have to drink more,” Liu Fenyun coaxed.
One sip was naturally easier than a whole bowl. Half doubtful, Lianyi took it with a straw.
The warm liquid went down smoothly it wasn’t bitter, only carrying a faint herbal taste, slightly sour but not unpleasant.
Before she realized it, she had finished the entire bowl and rinsed her mouth. In just a short while, her stomach pain had significantly lessened.
This surprised and delighted her. She asked Liu Fenyun, “Are there more stomach-friendly medicines that aren’t bitter?”
Liu Fenyun was about to say “no,” but seeing her hopeful eyes, she changed her words: “If Your Highness wants, there is.”
