Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 100
“Detected: Lian Yi’s blackening value has dropped to 77 points.”
Liu Fenyun, who had been lost in thought, was startled by the system notification. She instinctively asked, “Why did it drop this time?”
She remembered the last time the blackening value decreased was when she said those “yandere” lines to the cat. At that time, the system indicated that if she acted out yandere tropes, there was an 80% chance of lowering the value.
But now, she hadn’t done anything particularly special, yet the value had dropped significantly. This meant there were definitely other ways.
For example… getting engaged to the cat?
Liu Fenyun rubbed the “biting cat” in her arms, thinking for a moment before asking the system, “What is the probability that consuming the ‘Sorrow Banish’ (Bujianchou) will bring the blackening value down to zero?”
The system fell silent for a few seconds, likely calculating, before replying: “Fifty percent, Host.”
“Fifty-fifty, huh…” Liu Fenyun couldn’t help but recall the “Heavenly Protection” Tushan Shuo had mentioned, which could change the fortunes of a married couple. After much deliberation, she decided to retrieve the “Sorrow Banish” first but wait until after the wedding to give it to the cat. With the luck bonus from “Heavenly Protection,” the chances of the value hitting zero might effectively increase.
The Departure
Qingmu Immortal Mountain was far away and served as a gathering place for human cultivators. Liu Fenyun and Lian Yi spent a day preparing and gathering information before setting off on the third morning.
As the first light of dawn broke, Liu Fenyun held the still sleeping cat and bid farewell to Yu Qingyue’s group at the city gates.
“This is the Physician’s Seal left by Chong Yun, the person I possessed. Princess, please take it back and find another witch doctor,” Liu Fenyun said apologetically as she handed the seal to Sha Lanyi. “Please convey my apologies to Old Man Sangjia Cuxiao. I will find time to return and apologize in person.”
Sha Lanyi carefully hung the Physician’s Seal alongside the Saintess’s Seal and smiled. “I will certainly deliver your words, Great One. May the Fire God protect you on your journey!”
Xian Lihua and Ruan Ju stood together, waving goodbye.
Lian Yi had been exhausted from packing the night before and had fallen into a deep sleep in Liu Fenyun’s arms. When she opened her eyes, she found them high above the clouds, bathed in warm sunlight. It felt as though she could reach out and touch the azure sky. Mist swirled around them, and beneath them were the winged demons of Kongmeng City.
“You’re awake?” Feeling the white furball stir, Liu Fenyun looked down with a smile and squeezed Lian Yi’s paws.
Surprisingly, Lian Yi didn’t have her usual morning grumpiness. She just lazily watched Liu Fenyun massage her paws and asked drowzily, “Where are we?”
“We’ve reached the Human Realm, but it’ll take at least two more days to fly to Qingmu Mountain.” Liu Fenyun summoned a simple hand-drawn map and cross-referenced it with the system map, pointing out their location to the cat. “After all, Qingmu Mountain is in the extreme east of the Human Realm; it’s practically a hidden world.”
Since the winged demons were cultivators, they didn’t need to rest. Liu Fenyun and Lian Yi, now freed from their mortal constraints, didn’t need to stop for meals either. They stayed in mid-air the whole way, snacking and reading novels to pass the time.
Lightning and Fur
Liu Fenyun took out the “Fan of No Regrets” gifted by the Dream Messenger. After the system scanned its attributes and imported the tutorial, she simulated its use in her consciousness.
After practicing for a while, she noticed small characters carved onto the fan’s ribs. When the system scanned them, they turned out to be a Lightning Technique formula.
According to the system database, Lightning Magic is considered the pinnacle of all spells because it draws power from the Heavenly Dao. A powerful lightning spell can even rival the Heavenly Tribulation.
The moment she saw the formula, Liu Fenyun exited her consciousness and asked Lian Yi for the Five Thunder Token. Seeing her grip the token and the fan with her eyes closed, Lian Yi ate a sunflower seed in confusion and went back to her book.
When Liu Fenyun opened her eyes and returned the token, Lian Yi leaned in. “A-Yun, what did you want the Five Thunder Token for?”
“I suddenly thought of a very powerful lightning spell and wanted to test its power through the token,” Liu Fenyun explained, still feeling a lingering fear. The fan was a true holy relic, that lightning spell had nearly shattered her consciousness even with minimal spiritual energy.
The Cat Petting Exchange
A day and night passed. Because their “mounts” were winged demons rather than flying artifacts, Liu Fenyun felt awkward moving around. She spent most of her time meditating or lying down.
Noticing her discomfort, Lian Yi suggested, “If you could turn into a cat, you could move around freely.”
Liu Fenyun didn’t know how to transform, she had only used demonic energy to manifest temporary traits like claws or ears. Furthermore, they no longer had the Blood Pact mark.
However, Lian Yi expertly pinned her down, transferred a significant amount of demonic energy into her, and chanted an incantation. Liu Fenyun felt her vision drop lower and lower until Lian Yi scooped her up.
Liu Fenyun noticed that Lian Yi’s demonic features had vanished, even her deep blue eyes had turned a normal black. She realized Lian Yi had temporarily “swapped” races with her, allowing her to fully transform into a cat.
Just as she realized the mechanics, she felt Lian Yi stroke the fur on her back. A wave of comfortable numbness traveled from her spine to the base of her tail.
Liu Fenyun or rather, the cat instantly froze.
While she loved rubbing the cat from head to tail, she wasn’t used to being the one rubbed. Her demonic body was sensitive, and with several winged demons nearby, she was terrified of making an embarrassing sound.
But the more she resisted, the more bold Lian Yi became. Lian Yi gleefully used every technique Liu Fenyun had ever used on her. Liu Fenyun ended up burrowing into Lian Yi’s robes to muffle herself.
“Detected: Lian Yi’s blackening value has dropped to 74 points.”
Liu Fenyun frowned mentally. What was it this time?
“Keeping Lian Yi in a good mood helps lower the blackening value,” the system explained.
Liu Fenyun understood. The cat was happy because she got to pet her. Whether it was a genuine love for fluff or just the joy of schadenfreude, it worked. So, half a day later, Liu Fenyun requested to turn into a cat again and endured the ticklish petting to make Lian Yi happy.
As expected, the value dropped to 71.
A Dire Discovery
On the second night of the journey, the system map suddenly flashed a bright light directly below them.
“Detected: Human life form presence. Confirming identity… Identity confirmed as Meng Nie. Status: Near death.”
Liu Fenyun was shocked. She knew Meng Nie had gone back to fight a war in the east, but “near death” was another matter. She immediately commanded the winged demons, “We need to go down and save someone!”
They descended into a desolate wasteland. “You know someone in this middle of nowhere?” Lian Yi asked, incredulous.
“It’s Meng Nie,” Liu Fenyun sighed. “She likely lost a battle.”
The scene below was gruesome, a plain littered with the corpses of soldiers. Liu Fenyun followed the system’s guidance to a pile of ruins and found Meng Nie.
Meng Nie’s left leg was pinned under heavy rubble and horribly twisted. Seeing Liu Fenyun, she thought she was hallucinating. The winged demons quickly moved the stones while Liu Fenyun administered a healing potion.
“Your left leg can’t be saved. If we don’t remove it, you’ll die,” Liu Fenyun said seriously, holding surgical tools she had manifested through the system.
Meng Nie was surprisingly fatalistic. “You’re the doctor, do what you must. If you hadn’t come, I’d be dead anyway. What’s a leg compared to that?”
An Unexpected Guest
While Liu Fenyun performed the amputation surgery in the system’s temporary medical room, Lian Yi went out to gather medicinal herbs.
Lian Yi hated the smell of medicine, but she worked quickly for her friend. As she washed the last herb, she heard staggering footsteps behind her.
Without Liu Fenyun’s permission, no stranger could enter this medicine garden. Lian Yi spun around defensively, only to see the God of Cultivation, Jin Fei, standing there in tatters. Her elegant cheongsam was shredded, and her breath smelled of thick blood.
The god and the demon stared at each other for a moment. Jin Fei smirked, trying to act nonchalant. “Just a bit of Heavenly Punishment for defying fate… Let me rest in your master’s little garden for a bit.”
With that, she collapsed.
