Married First, Loved Later with the Fake Heiress (ABO) - Chapter 3
“Drink some water first; your voice is a bit hoarse.” Wen Conghan unscrewed her thermos and handed it to Ji Mianyue.
Ji Mianyue was about to say that she preferred flower tea and did not like plain water. Before the words could leave her mouth, she realized that such a request was asking for too much. Currently, she was the villain in Wen Conghan’s life, not a guest. How could she make so many demands?
“Thank you,” Ji Mianyue said in a raspy voice. She blinked, trying to force the tears back into her heart.
Ji Mianyue, you cannot cry anymore. If you keep crying, it will start to feel like moral kidnapping. She attempted to threaten her tears into stopping.
After taking a sip from the thermos, Ji Mianyue’s eyes lit up. It was not plain water inside; it was flower tea! She was not sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt this flower tea was very similar to the jasmine tea she usually drank, or perhaps even better.
Watching Ji Mianyue drink without asking a single question, Wen Conghan began organizing the books on the desk, forcing her gaze away from those red, moist lips. This jasmine tea was something she had specially brewed for Ji Mianyue, following the girl’s specific preferences. It seemed her observations had been correct.
Ji Mianyue’s behavior made it impossible for Wen Conghan to suppress the joy in her heart. She knew Ji Mianyue had a strong sense of personal boundaries and was a bit of a clean freak. Ji Mianyue generally disliked touching things others had used, let alone a thermos she had already drunk from. When Ji Mianyue went out to eat with roommates, she would always use serving chopsticks if available. If the restaurant did not provide them, she would try to pick at parts of the dishes others had not touched.
Therefore, Wen Conghan had assumed Ji Mianyue would be somewhat resistant to using her cup. Yet, she had accepted it just like that. This joy felt like a sudden, warm spring breeze appearing in the middle of a frozen landscape. Wen Conghan had always found those small, boundary-conscious habits of hers adorable. Ji Mianyue would not give up her principles, yet she never made others feel uncomfortable. Whenever Ji Mianyue was truly troubled, she would wrinkle her nose during her moments of hesitation. That movement was like her secretly saying, “I am unhappy,” much like a kitten acting spoiled.
“What is wrong?” After drinking the water, Ji Mianyue’s voice finally sounded more hydrated. Seeing that Wen Conghan had not spoken for a while, she could not help but initiate conversation.
“It is nothing,” Wen Conghan gave her a reassuring look, and with just that single glance, Ji Mianyue felt at ease.
Perhaps it was because their relationship was so close now, but looking at the other woman actually brought her a sense of peace. This kind of security usually only appeared between her and her Mom and Mommy. Now, there was one more person who could give her that feeling. Ji Mianyue felt she was truly lucky. After having such wonderful parents, she had actually encountered someone as good as Wen Conghan. Even after such a major event had occurred, Wen Conghan did not blame her at all. She even comforted her. Wen Conghan was simply too gentle and kind.
Ji Mianyue pursed her lips and thought over the whole situation. After thinking it through to the end, she felt that the blame for this matter could only fall on herself. At this thought, Ji Mianyue lowered her head again. As soon as Wen Conghan saw this movement, she knew Ji Mianyue was about to fall into sadness again.
“I just thought you might be disgusted by a thermos I have used.”
This single sentence from Wen Conghan caused Ji Mianyue to flush red from her neck to her face. Had she just shared an indirect kiss with Wen Conghan? Ji Mianyue, who had been immersed in sadness just a moment ago, now had eyes wide and round. Her mouth formed a small “o” in surprise, and her face turned a vivid crimson.
“I did not know!”
“I am sorry, I am really sorry!”
“I should have wiped it before I drank.” Ji Mianyue was at a loss, her eyes filled with panic as she looked at Wen Conghan.
Watching Ji Mianyue get embarrassed like a cute little rabbit made Wen Conghan’s mood significantly better. “Why do you keep saying sorry? I just washed this cup today. I have not drunk from it yet, so it is fine for you to use. How could I give you a used, unwashed thermos? Do you think I am such a bad person? I am a little hurt.”
Hearing this, Ji Mianyue shook her head repeatedly and bit her lip. “I did not mean it like that. You are a very good person. I think you are the best person I have ever met, besides my Mom and Mommy.” When Ji Mianyue said this, her eyes were full of sincere trust. No one besides Wen Conghan would treat her so well after something like this happened.
Hearing these words, the corners of Wen Conghan’s mouth could not help but curve upward. She had known from the very beginning that Ji Mianyue was someone who was easily deceived. If others lied to Ji Mianyue, it would make her cry and hurt her. But she would not.
“I also think you are a very good person.” As soon as Wen Conghan spoke, she saw the “little pearls” about to drop from the other’s eyes again.
“I am not,” Ji Mianyue sobbed. Her reddened eyes made Wen Conghan want to lean in and kiss them.
“Instead of thinking about those unhappy things, why don’t we think about how to fool Mom and Mommy? There is actually a reason why I said Mom and Mommy would kick you out. Even though they love you, you know that the head of the Ji family, our Grandmother Ji, is very stubborn. When the time comes, Mom and Mommy will be put in a very difficult position.”
Wen Conghan was not lying; she was describing the reality they had to face. However, she had exaggerated the situation slightly. Ji Mianyue thought of the rarely seen Grandmother Ji. It seemed every time she saw her, the grandmother did not like her. Grandmother did not like Omegas; she preferred Alphas. If she really was not a child of the Ji family, it truly seemed possible she would be kicked out.
Seeing Ji Mianyue in deep thought, her usually delicate brows were now knit into an expression of worry.
“So, as long as we tell Mom and Mommy that we are already in a relationship, Grandmother Ji cannot exactly kick out her own granddaughter’s girlfriend, can she? Of course, the best way is for us to get married. That way, you will definitely be a member of the Ji family, right?”
Wen Conghan’s logic was clear; she laid out the problem and matched it with what seemed like the best path forward. Seeing Ji Mianyue still hesitating, she added another line, “I am willing to do this, Mianyue.” Her voice was soft, acting as both a comfort and a siren’s lure.
After listening, Ji Mianyue did not say a word, but quietly nodded her head.
“So we need to think carefully. The priority right now is how to act like an intimate couple, right?” Wen Conghan took Ji Mianyue’s hand. Under the influence of those gentle words, Ji Mianyue’s resolve hardened.
“I want to marry you!”
This sentence was spoken with such strength it sounded like a vow. Wen Conghan felt as if her heart had been struck. She liked it very much. If possible, she hoped to hear it again at their wedding. However, the sound of the dormitory supervisor knocking on the door broke the exquisite atmosphere between the two.
“Three minutes left, you two should be wrapping it up.” After the supervisor finished speaking, her footsteps faded away from the door.
Ji Mianyue’s face turned red. The way the supervisor said it made it sound like they were doing something scandalous.
“Then should I head back, Student Wen?” Ji Mianyue thought about it and felt she should not be too familiar yet, so she chose a slightly distant form of address.
“I will walk you.”
As soon as Wen Conghan spoke, Ji Mianyue began to shake her head. Clearly, she did not want to trouble her.
“We are a couple now. It is better if we walk back to the dorm holding hands. And from now on, call me Conghan. ‘Student Wen’ is not a name a girlfriend should use.”
Ji Mianyue’s face turned a powdery pink, and she nodded vigorously at Wen Conghan. She could definitely do this for Mom and Mommy!
Wen Conghan picked up her trench coat and reached her hand out to Ji Mianyue. Her hand was beautiful, with fingers long and joints well-defined. Just by her reaching out, Ji Mianyue felt like she was looking at a work of art. Ji Mianyue reached out innocently and gently placed her hand into the other’s. A warm sensation traveled from one palm to the other without warning. For some reason, Ji Mianyue felt she wanted to trust Wen Conghan unconditionally.
So, she followed her heart. She gripped Wen Conghan’s hand and allowed herself to be led out of the dormitory door. Ji Mianyue had a faint feeling that her actions today would change her life forever. But she would not regret it.
The two walked out of the dormitory holding hands. Along the way, people kept looking at them. Those who knew them were shocked that these two were walking hand in hand. Those who did not know them were naturally drawn to take a few extra looks because of their ethereal beauty. Wen Conghan held Ji Mianyue’s hand, but her physical presence was not limited to just that. She stayed very close to Ji Mianyue, their bodies partially brushing against each other.
“Does it have to be this close?” Ji Mianyue breathed in the pheromones she liked. Although she knew clearly that she would not enter heat, she still felt a bit flushed and shy.
“Psychology says people stay closer to those they are intimate with. Do not forget, we are a couple now.” Wen Conghan’s voice carried a mix of rational analysis and persuasion.
Upon hearing this reason, Ji Mianyue nodded diligently. “So that is how it is!” Ji Mianyue felt that Wen Conghan was right, so she pressed herself even closer to Wen Conghan’s side.
Sensing the other’s proactive approach, Wen Conghan’s mood became even more pleasant. Things she once thought were completely impossible were now unfolding before her eyes. Wen Conghan felt a sense of absurdity about reality, as if this scene were a dream she had not woken up from yet. The feeling of absurdity lasted until the Omega dormitory building appeared in front of them.
Just as Ji Mianyue was about to leave, Wen Conghan pulled her hand.
“What is it?” Ji Mianyue’s gaze shifted from cautious to puzzled.
Wen Conghan pointed at the other couples nearby and prompted in a low voice: “A parting kiss.”
