Male Lead, Let Go of That Heroine—Let Me! [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Yan Hui rested at the recording site for a day before returning to the company. The dormitory was empty; checking the schedule, she saw the other three were in the practice room preparing for the concert two weeks away.
Originally, only about 5,000 tickets for the Q&K concert had been sold, with the audience coming purely for the other three members. After all, Q&K’s songs were decent. However, after the broadcast of Simulated Life yesterday, Yan Hui’s performance caused the concert ticket sales to break the 10,000 mark instantly.
“Yan Hui, do you want to rest a bit more?” He Jie had already informed Song Lan of their return. Song Lan intended to let Yan Hui rest. The second episode of Simulated Life would be recorded in a week, and starting from the second episode, the production team planned to ditch the live broadcast format in favor of post-production editing before airing.
Yan Hui shook her head. “No need. I got enough rest yesterday. I’ll go to the practice room.”
He Jie nodded. “Alright then.”
He Jie watched Yan Hui’s retreating figure, reflecting on the Yan Hui of the past two days. She hadn’t gotten angry, hadn’t lost her temper, had recorded the variety show well, and hadn’t caused any trouble. It was as if she were a different person. She had reported Yan Hui’s condition to Sister Song Lan, who was also puzzled as to why Yan Hui wasn’t acting up, but then thought that if Yan Hui could be less of a headache, it was for the best.
The practice rooms were on the first floor. Fengxiang Entertainment had many practice rooms, and Q&K had a dedicated one with a sign on the door. As Yan Hui walked to the entrance, she heard Zong Yue’s singing—she was indeed quite good. They were currently practicing Q&K’s title track, Flying. Zong Yue wrote the lyrics and composed the music, Fang Xiaoxiao choreographed it, and Xiao Su was responsible for the rap. The original host was only responsible for one line of lyrics: the climax, “I can Flying…” Only those two lines in the whole song were given to the original host, while Zong Yue provided the backing harmonies. Consequently, there wasn’t a single line in the entire song that the original host could sing independently.
Yan Hui touched her neck. In truth, the original host had a beautiful voice, but she didn’t know how to cherish it. She only used that voice to curse, act coy, or hum aimlessly. Eventually, because she mistakenly drank water sent to Zong Yue by a sasaeng fan, her throat was poisoned and she became mute.
Yan Hui pushed the door open and walked in. The three people in the room turned to look at her, their eyes filled with incomprehension, doubt, and a hint of strangeness, as if Yan Hui appearing in the practice room was a complete fairy tale.
Under their collective gaze, Yan Hui sat on the sofa, crossed her legs, and raised an eyebrow. “What? Haven’t seen me in two days and you don’t recognize me?”
That “punchable” tone—it was definitely Yan Hui.
Song Lan, fearing Yan Hui would cause trouble on the variety show, had kept the four of them glued to the live stream. They were terrified she would go crazy, but instead of her acting up, they suddenly realized Yan Hui had started acting like a human being.
Although her speech on the show was still arrogant, she hadn’t made any major blunders, completed the missions seriously, and had no conflicts with her teammates. Furthermore, the plot point where she sacrificed herself to save Tan Yingying left the four of them horrified, wondering if the Yan Hui in the live stream was even the real person or a body double hired by the crew. After all, based on their knowledge of Yan Hui, it was impossible for her to do something so selfless. However, Xiao Su noted that the entire group was supposed to go on this variety show, but in the end, Yan Hui had shouldered it all by herself.
Yan Hui’s sudden change had caught everyone off guard.
For instance, this person who never showed up in the practice room was now sitting on the sofa seriously watching the dance video.
In their hearts, all three of them simultaneously wondered if Yan Hui had truly changed her nature.
Yan Hui watched the dance in the video. The choreography for Flying looked somewhat complex; the movements weren’t something that could be learned in a day or two. Fang Xiaoxiao was the main dancer, so many of the difficult moves were on her. In the video’s formations, Yan Hui’s position was the only one filled by a stand-in. Looking at the level of the three practicing just now, they had already mastered the dance. Yan Hui was the only one left who hadn’t learned it.
Fang Xiaoxiao saw Yan Hui staring intently at the video and thought she didn’t like the choreography she had created. She asked, “Yan Hui, is there a problem with the dance?”
“No problem.” Yan Hui put down her phone. “You three have already learned it, right?”
Fang Xiaoxiao, thinking Yan Hui was angry they hadn’t included her in the learning process, immediately said, “I can teach you individually. Do you want to learn?”
Yan Hui shook her head. “You guys practice first. I’ll watch.”
Fang Xiaoxiao didn’t understand what Yan Hui meant. Zong Yue glanced at Yan Hui and said to the other two, “Let’s practice first.”
Yan Hui watched their fully formed dance. Even without her dancing, the three of them were very harmonious. This dance actually had more character with just the three of them, which meant it didn’t really matter if Yan Hui danced or not—because from the beginning, there was no real place for her in this choreography.
Although Fang Xiaoxiao was the choreographer, the people who truly finalized the arrangement were Captain Zong Yue and Song Lan. They knew from the start that Yan Hui wouldn’t practice properly, so they had made her part of the dance negligible during the choreography phase.
The three practiced for another two hours while Yan Hui watched from the side. They practiced until 10:00 PM. Zong Yue turned off the music and caught her breath. “Let’s stop here for today. Tomorrow at 10:00 AM we’ll practice the vocals. Everyone gather at the recording studio then.” Zong Yue spoke loudly on purpose to remind Yan Hui.
Fang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Su panted and nodded. “Okay.”
“Then let’s disperse. Go back and massage your legs, get some rest.” Zong Yue looked at the still-seated Yan Hui. “Go back.”
“I don’t plan on going back.” Yan Hui looked at Zong Yue. She was covered in sweat from jumping around, her face flushed red, looking less cold than usual. “I plan to practice the dance for a bit.”
Fang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Su looked at Yan Hui in shock, as if she had said something treasonous.
Zong Yue didn’t know what kind of trick Yan Hui was playing now. “….Then practice. We’re leaving.”
“The two of them can leave, but you can’t.” Yan Hui called out to Zong Yue.
Zong Yue frowned. “…Why?”
“You have to teach me the dance.”
“Let Fang Xiaoxiao teach you tomorrow. It’s too late today, and everyone is tired.”
“But I’m in the mood to learn right now,” Yan Hui said word by word. “And, I want you to teach me.”
Fang Xiaoxiao was about to speak but was silenced by a glare from Yan Hui.
Zong Yue took a deep breath. “Why? Fang Xiaoxiao is the choreographer; she’s more familiar with the dance. It’s better if she teaches you.”
“It’s simple. You’re the captain; shouldn’t you be responsible for your teammates?” Yan Hui looked at Fang Xiaoxiao. “Fang Xiaoxiao’s dance style differs from mine. I prefer the way you dance.”
Xiao Su whispered, “Xiaoxiao, what is your dance style? How is it different from Yan Hui’s?”
Fang Xiaoxiao said speechlessly, “How the hell should I know? I feel like Yan Hui is intentionally looking for trouble with the Captain.”
“Huh?” Xiao Su looked at the tense atmosphere between the Captain and Yan Hui. “What do we do? Should we do something?”
“I don’t know.” Fang Xiaoxiao sighed. “Hasn’t this happened before? The Captain won’t let herself be bullied.”
Zong Yue’s face darkened. “It’s too late today. I’ll teach you tomorrow.”
Yan Hui pouted. “No, I want to practice tonight.”
Zong Yue: “….Yan Hui, why didn’t you say anything while we were practicing earlier?”
“I wasn’t in the mood then, but I am now.” Yan Hui smiled broadly. “So? Will you teach me?”
“And if I don’t?”
Yan Hui stood up and walked over to Zong Yue. Looking at the disgust filling Zong Yue’s eyes, she smiled faintly. “You probably don’t want me to mess up Q&K’s first concert, do you?”
Hearing this, Fang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Su looked at Yan Hui nervously.
Zong Yue’s pupils constricted. She gritted her teeth. “What do you mean?”
“I mean I’m threatening you.” Yan Hui wiped the sweat from Zong Yue’s forehead. “Teach me the dance properly, and I’ll perform well at the concert. If you don’t teach me, I don’t know what I might do that day.”
A blatant threat.
Zong Yue loved singing; entering the entertainment industry to sing was her dream, and holding a concert was a goal she had pursued for a long time. Yan Hui knew what she wanted and naturally struck exactly where it hurt.
Zong Yue narrowed her eyes and said harshly, “Fine. I’ll teach you. But I am very strict; what if you can’t take it?”
Yan Hui blinked. “Then can’t you be a bit gentler? I’m very afraid of pain.”
Zong Yue: “….”
Fang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Su exchanged a look and both left the practice room simultaneously. The smell of gunpowder was too strong; they felt that staying any longer would leave them without a whole corpse.
Actually, Yan Hui had already mastered it. Keeping the female lead behind to “teach” her was purely intentional; she wanted to see when the female lead would snap and just how long she could endure Yan Hui’s unreasonable behavior.
“Raise your hands higher, lower your waist, chest out…” Zong Yue lifted Yan Hui’s arm, placed a hand on her waist, and pressed down slightly. “Use your core.”
Yan Hui said confusedly, “How do I use my core?”
Zong Yue pressed against Yan Hui’s stomach. “Follow what I say. Breathe… inhale… exhale… tighten your stomach…”
“Your hands are so cold.”
Zong Yue withdrew her hand. “….Sorry.”
Yan Hui pulled her hand back and placed it on her stomach. “No need to apologize. The cold feels very comfortable.”
Zong Yue frowned. “….Let’s continue. Come on, exhale… inhale, adjust your breathing…”
“Zong Yue,” Yan Hui called her name.
Zong Yue said helplessly, “…What is it now? Are you cold?”
Yan Hui shook her head. “Not cold.”
“Then what is it? What’s the problem now?”
Yan Hui leaned into Zong Yue’s ear and whispered with a chuckle, “I don’t know why, but having your hand on me feels very good. It’s actually a bit of a turn-on. Do you understand the feeling?”
Zong Yue’s brow furrowed, and she tried to pull her hand away immediately, but Yan Hui pinned it against her waist. “You… let go.”
“I won’t…” Yan Hui pulled Zong Yue into her arms. Looking at Zong Yue’s bright red ears, she exhaled. “Zong Yue, you’ve touched me into feeling something.”
