Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 51
A slender, pale hand suddenly landed on Jiang Qi’s shoulder. The scorching sunlight beat down on her, and she flinched in surprise before quickly composing her expression. “Are we here?”
Chi Shuang nodded, tilting her head to look at Jiang Qi. “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”
Jiang Qi shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
Again with this.
Chi Shuang lowered her gaze. She says she likes me, yet she’s so dismissive. But what could possibly make Jiang Qi look like that?
Feeling a bit self-conscious under Chi Shuang’s gaze, Jiang Qi pursed her lips and asked in a teasing tone, just loud enough for the two of them to hear, “What’s the matter? Staring at me so intently in public, have you taken a fancy to me?”
For the first time, Chi Shuang didn’t respond to her banter, her gaze drifting away indifferently. That single glance left Jiang Qi feeling unsettled, though she couldn’t pinpoint why Chi Shuang’s attitude had suddenly shifted.
By the time they reached Jiang Ran and Shang Chumu and headed to a nearby restaurant with them, Chi Shuang still hadn’t spoken a single word to her.
Feeling aggrieved, Jiang Qi discreetly hooked her finger around Chi Shuang’s when no one was looking, but it did nothing to appease her. Chi Shuang coldly pulled her hand away.
Wahhh!
As they returned to the screening room, Chi Shuang glanced at the Ferris wheel in the distance.
That’s what she was looking at earlier, wasn’t it?
Whatever. What’s the use of staring at it if she’s not willing to tell me? Asking would be pointless anyway.
With that thought, her previously calm mood soured once more.
“Hmph!”
Jiang Qi: “???”
It wasn’t yet time for the afternoon work shift. Jiang Qi checked her watch, twenty minutes to go. That was enough.
As they passed the public restroom, Jiang Qi suddenly slipped inside, pulling Chi Shuang in with her by the wrist.
They entered a stall, and Jiang Qi pressed Chi Shuang against the wall. “What’s wrong, baby? Still ignoring me?”
“Who’s your baby?” Chi Shuang turned her head away, her tone as cold as if she were a second Jiang Qi.
Jiang Qi leaned in, resting her forehead against Chi Shuang’s. “Who else could it be? There’s only one baby for me.”
Who did she learn these smooth-talking lines from? Chi Shuang couldn’t help but think, a tinge of jealousy creeping in.
Seeing her beloved pouting so hard she could hang a ladle from her lips, Jiang Qi quickly tried to soothe her. “Alright, baby, I’m sorry. Don’t be angry.”
“Tell me what you’re sorry for,” Chi Shuang said slowly.
Jiang Qi froze. She had planned to apologize first and figure out the rest later, but Chi Shuang’s direct question caught her off guard.
“Sorry for… everything,” Jiang Qi stammered, unable to think of a specific reason, and resorted to coaxing and cuddling.
“You don’t even know!” Chi Shuang feigned anger, crossing her arms.
Watching her grow even more upset, Jiang Qi grew frantic, terrified that her “candidate girlfriend” status might be revoked on the spot.
In a flash of inspiration, Jiang Qi seemed to recall something. She tugged at Chi Shuang’s sleeve. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been so distant or brushed off your questions.”
But to Jiang Qi’s surprise, her answer only made Chi Shuang angrier. “Hmph! You knew all along, yet you did it anyway. Are you just not willing to tell me?”
Jiang Qi let out a helpless laugh and kissed Chi Shuang’s forehead. “How could I keep anything from you? It just wasn’t the right time to talk earlier. If you want to know, I’ll tell you tonight when we get back, okay?”
Chi Shuang looked up into her sincere eyes, which seemed to be gradually blooming with affection for her.
Unable to hold back the blush on her cheeks, and to hide it, Chi Shuang leaned in and kissed her directly, preventing the other from seeing her expression.
In truth, whether she knew or not didn’t matter, what Chi Shuang had always wanted was Jiang Qi’s attitude. She was someone starved for love, and the love she craved was passionate, hidden in the smallest of details.
Their lips met, and they kissed for a long time.
Jiang Qi went from passively accepting the kiss to taking control. When they finally pulled apart, both their faces were flushed.
Chi Shuang wore a triumphant smile, thinking, If our faces are equally red, she probably won’t be able to laugh at me.
Of course, Jiang Qi had no idea about Chi Shuang’s little scheme. Her smile was tinged with shyness as she asked, “Why did you suddenly kiss me…?”
Did you ask me when you kissed me? Chi Shuang thought irritably.
“Do I need to file a report before kissing you?” Chi Shuang reached out and pinched her cheek gently, careful not to smudge her makeup.
Jiang Qi shook her head earnestly. “No, you can kiss me whenever you want, do whatever you want…”
As she spoke, Jiang Qi’s face grew even redder, as if she truly hoped the other would take things a step further.
Chi Shuang poked her collarbone with a finger. “Cut it out. Hurry up and get out, we’re running out of time. Kissing in the bathroom, only you would think of something like that.”
With that, Chi Shuang stepped out of the stall first and strode away.
But… hadn’t she been the one to initiate the kiss?
Jiang Qi remained in her previous position, silently pondering.
“Huh? Sister Chi, you’re using the restroom too?”
The sudden voice of Jiang Ran at the door sent alarm bells ringing in Jiang Qi’s mind. Lately, this girl had been giving her and Chi Shuang strange, unsettling looks.
Chi Shuang didn’t speak for a moment, then nodded blankly. “Mm.”
“Okay~” Jiang Ran walked forward, passing Chi Shuang and heading straight for Jiang Qi’s stall.
“Wait!” Chi Shuang suddenly called out.
Jiang Ran stopped and turned back. “What’s wrong, Sister Chi?”
“Your lipstick has faded, probably from eating earlier. Do you want to reapply?” Chi Shuang quickly came up with a plausible excuse.
Jiang Ran let out an “Ah~” and turned to look in the mirror. “You’re right. I’ll fix it first.”
While Jiang Ran carefully reapplied her lipstick, Jiang Qi quietly closed the stall door.
Once finished, Jiang Ran checked her reflection with satisfaction and turned to ask Chi Shuang, “How is it, Sister Chi? Is it even?”
Seeing that Jiang Qi had closed the door, Chi Shuang breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. “Very even. Go ahead and use the restroom.”
Jiang Ran felt that her Sister Chi was acting a bit odd today but couldn’t quite put her finger on why.
After Jiang Ran entered a stall, Chi Shuang relaxed and gently tapped three times on Jiang Qi’s door.
Jiang Qi quietly slid the bolt open, and the two of them slipped out hand in hand.
Only after they were outside did Chi Shuang realize something. “Wait a minute… Ranran didn’t even see which stall I came out of. Why did we run like that?”
Jiang Qi nodded. “That makes sense.”
If she had just walked out normally, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. After all, they were on the same team, what was wrong with being together? It was just a coincidence that they happened to use the restroom at the same time.
But probably because they felt guilty, their first reaction was actually to hide.
Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang exchanged a glance, then smiled helplessly.
