Jiang Qi wore an expression that seemed to say, “I’m listening to your excuses.”

Chi Shuang shrugged, her smile growing even more radiant. Unlike her usual gentle demeanor, dressed in a white knight outfit with short hair, Chi Shuang resembled a delicate rose blooming gracefully.

It made Jiang Qi want to hide her away, to keep her all to herself, to have her bloom only for her.

Half an hour after the park opened, the screening room finally welcomed its first customer.

Chi Shuang shot a glance at Jiang Qi, who turned and saw two people.

Young Miss Jiang had never done this kind of work before and had no idea what to do, so she stood stiffly in place. Chi Shuang, seeing her frozen posture, choked back the “Welcome” she was about to call out.

The two of them just stared at each other.

The visitor was a woman with a child, who appeared quite young.

The woman walked straight past with her child, completely oblivious to Chi Shuang and Jiang Qi on either side.

Just as Jiang Qi breathed a sigh of relief, the little boy suddenly turned around and pointed at Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang, exclaiming, “Wow, these big brother and sister are so pretty!”

His mother glanced back and swatted his hand down. “They’re mannequins. And haven’t I told you it’s very impolite to point at people?”

Jiang Qi: “…”

Chi Shuang: “…”

The little boy hung his head dejectedly, rubbing the back of his hand. “But I just saw that sister turn her head to look at me~”

In the little boy’s words, the “big brother” referred to Chi Shuang, and the “sister” to Jiang Qi. Being young, he simply distinguished gender by hair length.

“Huh?”

The young woman was taken aback and looked at Jiang Qi. It was true! Just moments ago, this tall, dark-skinned Alice had turned her head to the right.

Originally, Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang had frozen in place at her “mannequin” comment, but now they were proven to be real people.

For a moment, they weren’t sure whether they should move or not.

The young woman scrutinized the dark-skinned Alice with blue hair in front of her. Her features were so exquisite they hardly seemed real. Though her skin was darker, it didn’t diminish her beauty in the slightest; instead, it exuded a unique, exotic charm.

Beside her, the white knight looked youthful, with fair, almost poreless skin, large eyes that seemed straight out of an anime, long eyelashes, and lips shaped so perfectly they appeared sculpted. The most striking features were the two shallow dimples at the corners of her mouth.

The young woman had mistaken them for mannequins because they were too good-looking to be real. Now, reminded by her son, she quickly apologized, “Sorry about that. You two are just so pretty, I thought you were dolls for a moment.”

Chi Shuang was the first to react, shaking her head with a smile. “It’s no problem. Please, go ahead and take your child inside to play.”

“My apologies,” the young mother said again before leading her child into the screening room.

Jiang Qi suddenly thought of something and smiled. “The program team only said we shouldn’t be recognized. They left us here without telling us what to do, right?”

Chi Shuang nodded. “Exactly. Greeting guests was just something we assumed we had to do. How about this: we’ll stand here today without moving, like mannequins. That way, the chances of being discovered will be much lower. Even if we accidentally move, we can just greet them.”

“Okay.”

Sitting in the car, comfortably enjoying the air conditioning and sipping tea, the director nearly choked on his drink when he saw this scene. Not only were these two spot-on with their predictions, but they were also experts at exploiting loopholes?

Ah, whatever, let them do as they please. I’ll check on the others.

He pulled up the camera feeds for Tang Qiluo and Yan Xu. This pair was much more normal, stumbling through their attempts to hide their identities and awkwardly conversing with visitors.

After watching them, the director felt much more at ease. Humming a tune, he reached into the car’s mini-fridge and pulled out an ice cream bar. “Ah, this weather is just too hot! What would I do without ice cream?”

Meanwhile, Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang stood on either side of the red warning line outside the screening room. Though there was no direct sunlight, the semi-open doorway let in so much air that the air conditioning was practically useless.

After just an hour, both of them were drenched in sweat.

In that short span of time, Jiang Qi began to ponder her life.

As the esteemed eldest daughter of the Jiang family, why was she here suffering like this? She could easily afford millions, and she had already won over the person she was chasing.

Shouldn’t she be traveling to all sorts of places with her beloved wife right now?

Jiang Qi couldn’t understand her own thought process and had forgotten her original intentions, as well as how she used to avoid Chi Shuang like the plague.

Lost in thought, Jiang Qi sighed.

Chi Shuang tilted her head and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Qi pursed her lips and shook her head. For some reason, Chi Shuang suddenly felt as though the vitality in the other’s face was about to fade away.

Chi Shuang: “?” Why would she think that?

It wasn’t the weekend, so the amusement park wasn’t very crowded. By lunchtime, no one else had shown up.

At noon, Tang Qiluo and Yan Xu arrived carrying lunch boxes. As soon as they stepped inside, they were moved to tears: “Wow, it’s so cool in here!”

The two of them had been operating the giant swing ride out in the open, under direct sunlight. It was unbearably hot, and they had nearly been recognized, but Tang Qiluo’s incredible acting skills had managed to deceive everyone.

“Where were you guys?” Chi Shuang asked, taking half of the lunch boxes from Yan Xu.

Without a word, Jiang Qi took the items from Chi Shuang’s hands and followed behind them.

Chi Shuang raised an eyebrow at Jiang Qi, who blinked back at her twice.

Noticing their interaction, Yan Xu smiled faintly.

He was always gentle and always wore a smile. Yet, when Jiang Qi saw that smile, she found it a bit strange. Why did it remind her so much of Jiang Ran’s smile last time?

But the scorching weather, combined with her low tolerance for heat under the direct sun, had drained her ability to think. All she could do was blankly follow the other three and listen to their conversation.

“Were there many people this morning?” Chi Shuang asked.

Tang Qiluo shook her head. “Not many. Who would come to an amusement park on a hot day like this, especially when it’s not the weekend or a holiday? Wouldn’t it be better to stay home and enjoy the air conditioning?”

Yan Xu laughed. “Exactly. I feel like I’m going to get a shade darker by the time we leave today.”

“Really? Qiluo, did you put sunscreen on Yanyan?” Chi Shuang asked with a smile.

“Of course. How could I let him suffer?” Tang Qiluo freed one hand to pinch Yan Xu’s cheek.

Yan Xu slapped her hand away with a “smack.” “By the way, were there many people at your spot this morning?”

Chi Shuang shook her head. “Not many. Only two people showed up all morning, a mother and her son.”

Yan Xu tilted her head and said, “Ah… I’m a bit envious. This morning, I was almost recognized, but luckily Qiluo helped me out. Otherwise, I would’ve been in for a roller coaster warning.”

Tang Qiluo blinked at Yan Xu first and said, “No need to thank me.” Then, Yan Xu playfully punched him with a laugh.

He chuckled, clutching his chest, and then asked everyone, “Hey, but are you guys scared of this punishment?”

Yan Xu sighed, “It looks pretty scary, but I’ve never actually ridden one in my life.”

Chi Shuang smiled and decided to be modest, “I’m okay with it, not really that scared.”

Jiang Qi, completely oblivious to their conversation, stared at the enormous Ferris wheel in the distance. A deep-seated fear suddenly bloomed within her, wrapping around and engulfing her entirely.
