- Chapter 91 - Eavesdropping on Heartfelt Thoughts
Long Ling received the Eternal Heart gemstone pendant with the lucky bonus and returned to Violet’s side.
She decided not to tell Violet about having it processed into a ring yet, planning to quietly give Violet a surprise.
Long Ling’s eyes were full of smiles: “Everything is arranged. I bought all those luminous seaweeds. I’ll go back and test the sales situation. If it’s good, I’ll make a long-term purchase.”
Violet looked at her neck, where the gemstone pendant was not worn, and her eyes darkened: “Let’s go back to the manor first.”
She had sent her Dragon Guards to investigate the people around Long Ling. Besides that elf and Anne, no one was close to Long Ling. Who would have given Long Ling the gemstone pendant?
Long Ling took it everywhere and hid it from her. Did she like the gem, or did she like the person who gave her the gem?
Thinking this way, Violet became unhappy, and her expression also soured.
Long Ling cleared her throat lightly, drawing Violet’s attention.
She placed the gemstone pendant in the palm of her hand. The blue sapphire glittered in the sunlight.
Long Ling looked into Violet’s eyes and said softly, “My grandmother gave it to me. Does it look good?”
Violet’s lips, which had been pressed into a straight line, quickly curled upward: “Not bad.”
A woman’s mood is truly like the weather, sometimes cloudy, sometimes sunny.
Luckily, she could hear Violet’s inner thoughts, otherwise, Violet would have been puffing up like a pufferfish all the way home.
Long Ling’s lips curved up as she put the Eternal Heart pendant around her neck.
It doesn’t matter that Grandma gave it to her. My little Strawberry Dragon can only wear what I give her, letting others know she is my Dragon!
Long Ling couldn’t help but stop in her tracks.
After all this time, why was Violet’s possessiveness still so strong?
Violet saw her suddenly stopping and looked at her intently: “What’s wrong?”
Long Ling said, “You need to stop.”
A trace of confusion crossed Violet’s eyes: “Stop what?”
She almost forgot, Violet didn’t know she could hear her thoughts!
Long Ling immediately said, “The one from Grandma has a different meaning.”
Violet asked, “What meaning?”
Long Ling explained, “It’s just a blessing.”
If Violet knew that her grandmother had asked her to give it to Violet when they first started dating and she hadn’t, Violet would definitely be angry.
Violet had not mentioned the pendant, but she realized that Long Ling seemed to be able to hear her thoughts all along.
She had investigated Mo Dai’s background. After Mo Dai rejected the former Queen, she repeatedly hid in the Mist Forest, escaping the Queen’s pursuers.
The fact that Long Ling could live in the Elven Clan territory for so long must have been due to Mo Dai’s support. No one ever knew who Long Ling’s mother was with when she laid the dragon egg, but now it’s highly likely that Mo Dai and an elf were together.
It was recorded in the magic books that elves possess the ability to listen to the heartfelt thoughts of intelligent species.
If Long Ling could hear thoughts, she should also have elven blood, but she couldn’t let this little Strawberry Dragon always hear her inner thoughts.
Violet took Long Ling back to the Illidari Manor.
The temperature on the Oude continent is consistently lower than on the Livo continent. When they came from the Livo continent, there was only a light flurry of snow, and the grass was still dark green. However, the mountains on the Oude continent were already covered in heavy snow, the river surface began to freeze, and goose feathers of snow floated down.
Long Ling and Violet had not felt cold inside the carriage, but as they opened the door, a cold wind immediately hit them.
They changed into thick deerskin boots and stepped onto the deep snow. The snow covered the tops of their boots, making a crunching sound.
Long Ling hadn’t been back for many months. Returning with Violet again gave her a feeling of coming home.
The Illidari Manor was the most beautiful manor Long Ling had ever seen among all the places she had visited.
The scenery of this manor changes in all four seasons. It has undergone renovations by many generations of owners, and every part of the landscape is uniquely designed. The lush, green pine trees at the manor gate were already covered in heavy snow, yet they remained tall and straight.
Butler Marcia had already led the servants to wait at the manor entrance, dressed in thick red wool coats. She said kindly, “Miss Long Ling, you are finally back. Her Highness has been looking forward to seeing you for many days.”
Long Ling politely said, “I’m just staying here temporarily for a few days to accompany the Duchess.”
Violet was a little displeased. Now that they were here, just staying for a few days? The little Strawberry Dragon was so unromantic.
She glanced at Butler Marcia.
Butler Marcia received Violet’s hint and quickly said, “It’s almost Christmas, Miss Long Ling. Her Highness has prepared many surprises for you. You should stay here longer.”
Long Ling was a little surprised. She hadn’t celebrated this festival before: “When is Christmas?”
Butler Marcia smiled and said, “In about a month. You and Her Highness can eat turkey, Christmas pudding, and Christmas mince pies. You can also decorate the Christmas tree and sing Christmas carols together. If you meet Santa Claus, he will give you many gifts.”
That sounded quite interesting. Long Ling had also opened a tavern elsewhere and was worried about her business: “I probably can’t stay that long. I need to go back in between.”
Violet inwardly did not want Long Ling to return to the Livo continent again. The last time Long Ling said she was going back to the tavern, many things happened in between.
If she hadn’t accidentally heard in the office that Long Ling was going to get engaged to Anne, Long Ling would now be someone else’s Alpha.
Violet took her hand: “You can have Nora send messages for whatever you need to arrange. You can bring your grandmother over to celebrate Christmas together.”
Nora hadn’t seen Miss Long Ling for a long time and quickly stepped out from beside Butler Marcia: “Miss Long Ling, you can leave everything to me. I will handle everything for you!”
Long Ling noticed that Nora’s bright golden short hair was a little longer than before, tied up in a short ponytail, and her round eyes were bright, smiling brilliantly.
After she left Violet, Nora must have been helping out at the Mist Tavern all along.
Long Ling nodded slightly and looked at Violet: “We’ll talk about it then.”
She had also asked the mermaids to introduce her to a suitable artisan for the custom ring. If Nora were to handle it, it wouldn’t be as much of a surprise for Violet.
Seeing that Long Ling had other plans, and since they had just arrived home, Violet didn’t want to be too overbearing.
The two walked into the manor together.
Nora and Aileen, who were following them, quickly went to the carriage to carry the luggage.
Long Ling and Violet walked along the path in the manor. This place held many traces of their life together.
In the spring, Violet’s leg injury hadn’t healed, and Long Ling followed behind her. At that time, the scent of flowers drifted from the rose garden in the manor, making the walk pleasant.
Now it was winter, and she and Violet were walking side by side.
The roses in the manor had not withered, only covered by a thin layer of snow, carrying the chill of winter. In the distance, she could still see the crystal kitchen Violet had built for her.
Everything seemed to have remained unchanged, and she and Violet were living the same life as before.
Long Ling went into the manor’s bathroom. The weather was cold, so she planned to take a hot bath first.
Violet arranged things with Aileen before going to the bath with Long Ling.
It had been almost half a year since she last bathed here with Violet.
Long Ling recalled the first time she bathed with Violet. She was quite nervous then, ordered by Violet to come and wash together, and accidentally stepped on Violet’s dragon tail, making the entire dragon freeze up.
Now, Violet’s dragon tail has been intertwined with her countless times. As their feelings deepened, they always became passionate, making it hard to go back to those shy times.
Long Ling entered the warm pool first. The hot water was very comfortable; taking a bath in winter was a very enjoyable thing.
Violet also entered the water with her, leaning against Long Ling’s embrace.
Long Ling held her gently, resting her chin lightly on the top of Violet’s head.
Although they had been intimate with Long Ling too frequently these past two days, Violet couldn’t help but sink into this embrace, unwilling to let go.
Long Ling hugged Violet for a while, then let go of her hands: “Do you want me to help you apply soap?”
Violet looked expectant: “Yes.”
Long Ling turned to select from the soap box nearby. She remembered Violet liked the milk scent. After smelling each one, she took the soap and turned around to find Violet had fallen asleep leaning against the edge of the pool.
Violet’s raven-black curly hair was spread out, her delicate features looked a little tired, and her body was covered in hickeys she had given her. Compared to her usual forceful aura, she looked somewhat delicate.
Long Ling gently stroked Violet’s cheek, reluctant to wake her up.
She massaged Violet for a bit to relax her, helped her apply the soap, and only after everything was done did Violet wake up.
Feeling completely refreshed, she couldn’t help but kiss Long Ling’s cheek: “Thank you, my dear.”
Long Ling felt a little flushed when Violet suddenly called her ‘my dear’: “I’m done bathing. If you still need to soak, rest a little longer inside.”
Violet’s eyes were filled with a smile: “I’ll soak for a little while longer.”
Long Ling came out of the bathroom alone, wearing only a bathrobe.
The Illidari Manor had many fireplaces, and the room was as warm as spring.
She sat on the sofa, waiting for Violet to come out.
Red plum blossoms were placed on the coffee table, emitting a faint fragrance, and red wine was placed next to them.
Long Ling had just poured a glass of wine and took a small sip to moisten her throat when there was a knock at the door.
Long Ling saw it was Butler Marcia and let her come right in.
Butler Marcia bowed and said, “Miss Long Ling, do you have free time now?”
Long Ling thought for a moment. Since there was nothing particularly important, she went to the treasure room with Butler Marcia.
Butler Marcia opened the cabinet storing the treasures and took out the gemstone jewelry, neatly arranging them on the table in front of Long Ling.
“Miss Long Ling, these are all prepared for you by Her Grace the Duchess. Do you find them satisfactory?”
Long Ling was stunned. Butler Marcia then opened a rolled-up map, pointing out several mines marked in advance by Violet.
“And these, they are the gold and gemstone mines closest to the Illidari Manor. They will all be under your name from now on.”
Long Ling was shocked. This was far too much to give.
She already had a lot of wealth and didn’t need this many mines.
Long Ling refused: “I don’t need all these things. Please put them back.”
Butler Marcia looked troubled: “But Miss Long Ling, Her Highness said these must be given to you.”
As Long Ling was about to refuse again, Violet suddenly appeared at the doorway.
She waved her hand, signaling Butler Marcia to withdraw first.
Violet walked over to her side: “You don’t like any of it?”
Long Ling gently hummed in agreement.
Her hair was half-dry, and she still carried a slight dampness. She was a little upset: “You only accept things your grandmother gives you, but not what I give you?”
Long Ling sighed: “You’ve already given me so much.”
Although she had given Anne a lot of compensation before, Long Ling’s tavern was earning money every month, so she didn’t need Violet to support her.
Violet wrapped her arms around her and said warmly, “I want to give you more.”
