- Chapter 88 - The Crystal Dragon Palace
The light in Long Ling’s eyes was too brilliant. She was already blessed with the combined strengths of the Dragon and Elf races, and even under the elven cloak, her spirit and vigor were clearly visible.
As an Imperial Chef, having her dishes highly sought after was, in itself, a source of great pride.
Long Ling’s lips curved into a slight smile. Hearing Violet urge her to visit the Dragon Palace; she finally recalled the agreement they had made.
Long Ling hesitated a little: “It snowed lightly a couple of days ago. Will it be a bit cold if we go now?”
Violet took her hand and said softly, “We can drink a potion to ward off the cold.”
Long Ling nodded: “Then I’ll go pack my clothes later, and tell Mom to help look after the pub.”
She had originally planned to build a greenhouse and rent a fertile pasture to raise more aquatic fowl to save on expenses, but winter had arrived, and it was probably too late. Since she had promised Violet, she had to set out.
Violet had the route map to the Dragon Palace, and they should be able to return in less than a month.
The brine for the braised goose was all prepared by her; as long as it was boiled daily, the broth wouldn’t spoil and could be continuously used to sell the braised goose. The only issue to consider was the supply of poultry.
The small farmer she had contacted previously only sold about a thousand chickens, ducks, and geese. Given the current explosive popularity, she was selling around twenty in an instant, and she estimated a hundred a day was easily achievable.
A supply of a thousand wouldn’t last until she returned, but it was difficult to find other sources in the bitter cold.
Long Ling mentioned this to Mo Dai, still feeling a bit troubled: “I guess we can only sell for half a month. Should I try to procure more from other places before I leave?”
Mo Dai sighed: “It might be hard to find. The Livor Continent is rich in mineral resources and has many blacksmiths, but very few people run farms or pastures.”
Violet chimed in at the right moment: “The manor we used to live in together has a pasture that raises some cattle and sheep. See if you can use them; I’ll have someone send them over for you.”
Violet’s words sparked an idea in Long Ling’s mind. She had only been thinking of braising chickens, ducks, and geese, but she hadn’t considered that she could also braise larger cuts of beef and lamb, which were more convenient. Perhaps she could also sell some vegetarian dishes alongside them.
Spicy braised food and beer were an absolutely wonderful combination; her pub would surely earn more money in the future!
The immediate problem was instantly resolved, but Long Ling quickly thought of a new one: “But transporting them from the Odes Continent to the Livor Continent requires sea freight, and we have to pass through canyons and forests. Isn’t that too much trouble? Can the meat be kept fresh?”
A slight smile played on Violet’s lips. She had thought Long Ling wouldn’t consider this problem.
The more difficult Long Ling found things, the more she would realize that opening pubs everywhere on the Livor Continent was not a good idea.
Violet said considerately: “It’s fine, I’ll arrange for a junior magician to continuously preserve the meat. I will send it to you no matter how far away, as long as you need it.”
Long Ling gazed at Violet’s deep-set eyes, and her heart softened. Violet was indeed very good to her now, and whatever she wanted to do, Violet would support her business.
She was no longer the great evil dragon from before, but a good dragon who had mended her ways and genuinely intended to build a happy little family with her.
Violet could offer her unreserved support, and Long Ling, too, would consider including Violet in her future plans; she wouldn’t let Violet constantly travel back and forth either.
In the future, when the business of this current pub stabilized and she had extra money, she would open a new pub in the city where Violet resided.
Mo Dai saw that Violet and Long Ling were becoming intimate again and couldn’t help but remind Long Ling: “You still need your own pasture. If there is extreme weather and His Grace the Duke’s goods cannot be delivered, we must have our own source of supply ready at all times.”
Long Ling nodded: “When Spring comes next year, I’ll see if I can buy a nearby pasture.”
Violet absently twisted the ruby on her thumb.
After Long Ling and her mother settled the handover of the pub, they were ready to head to the deep-sea Dragon Palace Violet had mentioned.
Long Ling had never experienced a long voyage at sea in winter.
She often saw stories of deep-sea treasure hunts in the picture books she read. If she and Violet were to encounter a mysterious treasure or salvage a deep-sea relic during their long journey to the Dragon Palace, they would definitely make a fortune.
Long Ling, filled with beautiful anticipation, bought some fluffy winter hats, gloves, and scarves. She bought a matching set for Violet, and they both set off bundled up in fuzzy clothes.
She also prepared a portable grill, and packed some chestnuts, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, and tangerines in a cloth bag, along with pre-prepared seasonings in small jars and bottles. They would bring it all aboard the ship so she and Violet could have food and replenish their energy during the long voyage.
When it was time to board, Mo Dai was still very worried about Long Ling’s safety. Looking at Long Ling, who was dragging her suitcase and about to embark on a long journey, she asked reluctantly, “Did you bring the crystal ball? Remember to send a message to Mom every day.”
Long Ling waved distantly at Mo Dai: “I know, Mom, Violet and I will be back soon.”
The feeling was different from when she and Mo Dai went to Freedom City before. At that time, she and Violet had broken up, and she was too preoccupied with her heartbreak during her trip to appreciate the surrounding scenery.
Now that her relationship with Violet had slightly softened, sailing and feeling the sea breeze, even with light snowflakes drifting down, Long Ling was quite comfortable.
The sea where the cruise ship set sail was calm. She and Violet sat around a stove, brewing tea.
Wood crackled in the small warm stove. Long Ling felt toasty, and her silver-white dragon tail couldn’t help but emerge, swaying comfortably.
Long Ling added sun-dried red dates and some goji berries to one teapot, and some jasmine tea to the other. The red date tea was brewed especially for Violet. She roasted some chestnuts and sweet potatoes on the stove, and the aroma of the tea permeated the air.
Ever since Violet’s leg injury healed, they could lean on each other.
Violet rested in her arms, her fair, slender fingers playing with Long Ling’s red scarf, secretly tying both their scarves together.
Long Ling noticed and immediately untied the scarf.
Violet snorted softly, pushed her hand away, and retied both their scarves together.
“I can’t do anything like this.”
Only then did Violet slowly untie the scarf for her.
Long Ling had just taken a sip of jasmine tea when Violet pulled open Long Ling’s coat and buried her head in her chest.
Violet’s high nose brushed against Long Ling’s snowy white neck, and the warm breath she exhaled sprayed wantonly on Long Ling’s skin.
The clingy great evil dragon! If she kept this up, Long Ling would start sweating all over.
Long Ling asked softly, “Do you want some sweet potato? I’ll peel it for you.”
Violet remained nestled in her arms: “You eat it yourself.”
She was hugging Long Ling like this, yet why was Long Ling still so clueless? Was it really that hard to provoke a youthful and vigorous Alpha?
Long Ling was simply busy. She peeled off the charred skin, and the orange sweet potato looked like honey, making the surrounding air sweet.
She had just taken a bite when Violet suddenly looked up at her, her deep eyes fixed on Long Ling’s face.
Long Ling brought the sweet potato to Violet’s lips, but suddenly heard a knocking sound.
A group of sea otters swam on the surface of the sea. The fluffy little sea otter leaned on its big sea otter parent, turning its belly up, and clumsily hammered a mussel against its chest with its short, round paws.
The little sea otter only had a small rock on its chest and couldn’t crack the shell open at all.
The big sea otter was skillful and quickly knocked out the fresh, tender clam meat. The little sea otter urgently wanted to eat, making whimpering sounds.
The big sea otter ate the plump and juicy clam meat alone, to train the little sea otter’s hunting skills.
Long Ling looked at the little sea otter, then glanced at the great evil dragon in her arms.
To prevent the great evil dragon from getting something for nothing, she put the sweet potato into her own mouth, too.
One bite, two bites, three bites. Violet watched the little strawberry dragon finish the entire sweet potato.
She angrily pinched Long Ling’s cheek: “Why didn’t you give me any?”
Long Ling pouted and gestured for Violet to look at the little sea otters in the sea: “You must be self-reliant.”
Violet left Long Ling’s embrace.
Soon after, Violet came out of the cabin with a brand-new sea fishing rod.
Violet hung a glittering lure on the rod, gracefully cast it into the water, and quickly reeled in a beautiful sea fish.
Long Ling hadn’t figured out why Violet was fishing when she saw Violet take the fish off the hook and throw it to the little sea otter.
The little sea otter, having received a fish that fell from the sky, happily chirped with excitement and swam toward Violet.
Violet used magic to suspend the little sea otter in a translucent, pale purple magic sphere, easily picked up the sea otter wrapped in the magic sphere, and stroked the soft fluff on its head.
Long Ling moved closer, also wanting to touch the adorable little sea otter.
Violet, however, didn’t let her touch it, asking faintly, “Didn’t you say you must be self-reliant?”
Long Ling could only hug her waist and rub her head against the back of Violet’s neck: “I’m sorry.”
Violet leaned into Long Ling’s embrace, surrounded by the Alpha’s strawberry pheromones, and her body involuntarily felt a trace of heat: “You can hold it for a little while, then we have to return it to its mother.”
Long Ling nodded immediately. Violet handed the little sea otter wrapped in the magic sphere to her.
It was Long Ling’s first time touching such a cute sea creature. The little sea otter’s head felt soft, its fur was fluffy, its little paws held the colorful fish, and its bright black eyes stared unblinkingly at her.
Long Ling’s heart melted. If only dragons could give birth to little sea otters.
Long Ling couldn’t help but ask, “Will little dragon babies be this small?”
Violet said tenderly, “Our dragon babies will be even cuter.”
Long Ling’s lips involuntarily curved into a smile. After watching the little sea otter finish the fish, she put the little sea otter back next to its mother.
They waited until the sea otter group left before continuing their voyage across the ocean. Before long, they encountered a sunken ship.
A look of surprise flashed in Long Ling’s eyes. She drank the anti-cold potion, transformed into her dragon form, and entered the ocean.
She originally planned to swim into the ship’s cabin, but her dragon wings accidentally bumped the old, dilapidated ship a few times, and it quickly turned into a pile of broken wood, floating on the sea surface. The plankton inside were also startled away.
Long Ling rummaged through the wreckage at the bottom of the sea, only finding some old, broken swords, guns that had already been corroded by seawater, the stark white bones of the deceased, and a small box of rusty ancient coins.
Although she didn’t find any treasure, it was a truly amazing experience for Long Ling.
If she could successfully reach the Dragon Palace according to the map, there must be many treasures inside, right?
Long Ling, filled with beautiful expectations, returned to the ship.
She and Violet stayed on the ship for several days. The sailing speed was very slow at first, but gradually picked up later.
Long Ling felt the journey was somewhat familiar yet also strange, as if they were taking a huge detour. After all, her trading experience was limited, so she blindly trusted Violet.
It wasn’t until she spotted the violet flag symbolizing royal authority on a distant spire that she gradually realized something was wrong.
Long Ling clenched her fists: “How did we end up in the Odes Continent?”
Violet looked calm: “The Dragon Palace I inquired about is nearby.”
Long Ling was half-convinced. She took out the map and looked at it again, and it matched the location marked on the map: “Alright.”
If Long Ling had been more observant, she would have also noticed that this location was very close to Port Grice.
A smile was evident in Violet’s eyes. It was just a palace built deep under the sea; as long as a dragon built it, wasn’t it a Dragon Palace?
The little dragon liked the Dragon Palace, so they could just make the Dragon Palace their sweet love nest.
The cold-defying effect of the potion was still active. Long Ling and Violet entered the deep sea together. After descending for an unknown distance, she finally saw a bright light shimmering with magnificent colors.
A Crystal Palace! The Dragon King’s Crystal Palace! It held countless treasures!
The thought made Long Ling instantly accelerate her swimming speed. When she quickly swam in front of the Crystal Palace, her pupils widened in shock!
The palace was magnificent and beautiful, towering over ten floors high. Every floor had incredibly beautiful rose windows, and the splendid dragon shape could vaguely be seen on the dome’s bas-reliefs. It was even more luxurious than she had imagined.
It was so beautiful, but why was the Dragon Palace also Western-style?
