- Chapter 82 - Fell in Love with Someone Else So Quickly?
After Long Ling disconnected the communication with Annie, Mo Dai also came to find her. Madam Rosalyn had also sent a message to Mo Dai, hoping that, in consideration of their past friendship, she could help them overcome this difficult situation.
Doing this wasn’t just to protect Annie’s assets; Long Ling could also benefit from it.
“Annie’s mother helped me a lot in the past. If you don’t like Annie, you can still find another Alpha to help with this, but it will take a lot more effort.”
Annie’s situation was urgent. Long Ling didn’t want to take advantage of Annie’s assets or marry her, but she also couldn’t watch Annie fall into trouble. She just hoped Annie could find an Alpha she mutually loved in the future.
Long Ling nodded slightly: “I can help her.”
Mo Dai patted her hand: “You are wronged by this. The engagement ceremony will be kept simple, notifying only some of Annie’s family and close friends. No outsiders will know; we must keep it secret and absolutely cannot let Violet know.”
Last time, she didn’t know how Long Ling managed to shake off Violet, but Long Ling’s former fiancée was definitely not someone to provoke. If she found out, it would certainly cause a major incident.
When Long Ling heard Mo Dai mention Violet, she remembered Violet lying to her again, hiding everything from her. This time, she wouldn’t tell Violet either.
Mo Dai saw that Long Ling didn’t object: “There is one more thing to tell you. Sivilia, who was originally imprisoned in the security bureau, escaped. I later sent people to investigate, but they couldn’t find any trace of her.”
Mo Dai suspected Sivilia had returned to her old den on the continent of Od, but Violet’s territory spanned across it, prohibiting elves from entering. Mo Dai wanted to arrange people to gather information, but they couldn’t get any news, only hearsay that Violet had suddenly deployed troops against a certain Count’s territory.
There weren’t many normal dragons in the Dragon Royal Family, and Mo Dai couldn’t figure out Violet’s mind. Such a dragon’s thoughts were hard to guess. If they were targeted, her Long Ling wouldn’t be able to live a peaceful life in the future.
Long Ling pursed her lips: “It’s fine. I also fought back. Sivilia has been locked up in the security bureau for so long; she should be more well-behaved in the future.”
Mo Dai couldn’t help but ask: “Why did Sivilia suddenly target you? I never heard you mention her before?”
Long Ling said lightly: “She said she had known Violet for many years, felt I was not worthy of Violet, and wanted to teach me a lesson.”
Mo Dai immediately became furious: “Where are you not worthy? My daughter is beautiful, and she has excellent cooking skills. Even without marrying Violet, she can live a good life. Being with Violet would only lead to grievances and suffering. Don’t listen to Sivi-whatever’s nonsense. In my heart, you are the best child, Mom!”
If it weren’t for Long Ling’s grandmother making the decision, she wouldn’t have agreed to that previous engagement. A simple, peaceful life is the best. A little dragon like Annie is very good; at least she can settle down and live a stable life.
Long Ling sighed slightly in her heart. Luckily, she didn’t reveal that Violet had also lied to her about Sivilia being her subordinate, or her mother would be even angrier.
Long Ling comforted her: “That’s how it is. Anyway, I won’t be with Violet. Her matters have nothing to do with me anymore.”
The news of Long Ling and Annie’s engagement was kept strictly confidential; apart from family and close friends, almost no one else knew.
However, there is no such thing as a completely airtight wall in the world.
Violet was finishing her morning meeting and drinking coffee by the window when she suddenly heard the whispers of discussion downstairs.
“Did you hear? Our executive officer’s former fiancée, Long Ling, is engaged to another Omega.”
“Really? Is that true?”
“Of course it’s true. I have the wedding invitation right here. Annie is my distant cousin; her mother personally sent the letter. Annie and Long Ling are getting engaged. I even have to take time off tomorrow to attend the wedding feast.”
“Then what about our executive officer? I haven’t heard that they canceled their engagement?”
“Which Alpha would like a dragon like the executive officer? She looks so cold, neither gentle nor considerate. Maybe they broke off the engagement a long time ago and were just hiding it; what’s so strange about that?”
Violet’s face turned completely pale.
She thought Long Ling was recuperating in the forest and would come back to her once her health improved. She never expected Long Ling was going to marry another Omega!
Did Long Ling no longer love her? Did she fall in love with someone else so quickly? Were all the things she said before lies? Why didn’t she tell her about this?
If she didn’t know, would Long Ling pretend she didn’t exist, marry another Omega, and stay with them forever?
She had already made changes, so why didn’t Long Ling still believe her?
The engagement ceremony was to be held in Annie’s hometown, and Long Ling only needed to cooperate for one day.
Madam Rosalyn had arranged everything meticulously. The engagement had a grand scale, with all of Annie’s relatives and friends present, as well as many guests from the business and political sectors.
Long Ling put on a pure white wedding dress and allowed the makeup artist to apply makeup while looking in the mirror. There was no smile on her face. The lipstick color was too deep, making her look different from her usual gentle demeanor.
Annie opened the door to the dressing room. The moment she saw Long Ling, her eyes were filled with amazement: “So beautiful, Sister Long Ling. You are the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen!”
Annie couldn’t help but sit beside Long Ling, holding her flushed cheeks, suddenly feeling a little shy.
She had never been married. Being with an older-sister-type Alpha like Long Ling was quite a novel experience.
Moreover, Sister Long Ling was beautiful. She wasn’t losing out at all. Even if it was just pretending, it felt quite lovely to think about.
Long Ling’s eyes flickered, and she noticed Annie’s cheeks were flushed. She couldn’t help but curve her lips into a slight smile.
Annie saw the smile, and her face grew even redder. She blinked and asked, “Sister Long Ling, what are you laughing about?”
Long Ling curved her eyes and said softly, “I was thinking about the make-believe games we used to play as children.”
Annie rose from the makeup chair, holding up her pure white skirt, and twirled around beside Long Ling. Her bright eyes were full of fragmented starlight: “I am Sister Long Ling’s bride now, super beautiful~”
She searched the dressing room and found a shimmering golden egg, originally intended as a prop for the wedding. Now she was cradling it in her arms, leaning softly against Long Ling.
“Sister Long Ling, look at our dragon egg, it’s golden. A family of three.”
Annie took Long Ling’s hand and placed it on the golden egg, saying seriously: “You should say, ‘Thank you, my beautiful wife, for giving birth to this dragon egg for me. You are now my most beloved wife.'”
Long Ling couldn’t help but chuckle: “How do you know all this?”
Annie glared playfully at Long Ling: “Everyone acts like this! I’ve played the wife many times when I was little. Sister Long Ling, you still need to learn; your acting needs improvement.”
Long Ling nodded: “I will certainly study hard next time.”
She had originally thought the engagement ceremony would be very tedious, but now it seemed somewhat interesting.
The next time will be the wedding, but it’s a pity she can’t marry Sister Long Ling.
Annie sat beside Long Ling, quickly finding an unused eyebrow pencil, and said to Long Ling: “Sister Long Ling, let me do your eyebrows. I just saw that your right eyebrow wasn’t drawn well.”
Long Ling leaned back against the chair, letting Annie touch up her makeup. Long Ling’s eyebrow shape was already beautiful; it only needed a slight touch-up. Today’s makeup looked brighter than usual, and the eyebrow shape was also different from usual.
Annie looked at Long Ling’s moist and radiant face and crimson lips, and her heart couldn’t help but beat faster. She quickly took a deep breath to steady her breathing and used the eyebrow pencil to gently draw Long Ling’s right eyebrow.
As she was concentrating on drawing, the door to the dressing room suddenly opened. Annie turned her head and saw a tall woman walk in. Her golden hair shimmered slightly in the sunlight, and her posture was very light and elegant.
Annie was slightly distracted. Long Ling also heard the footsteps and glanced out of the corner of her eye, seeing that it was Aelolis.
“Aelolis, why are you here?”
She had thought Aelolis would remain in the tribal land and didn’t expect her to come to her engagement ceremony with Annie.
She had told Aelolis that she and Annie were going to pretend to be engaged. Aelolis initially didn’t suggest she do this, but understanding that Annie’s situation was very urgent, she could comprehend Long Ling’s decision.
Aelolis walked up to Long Ling: “I wanted to see you in a wedding dress.”
Long Ling joked, “Do I look good? I thought you came to send your blessings.”
Aelolis looked intently at Long Ling, as if to firmly engrave her current appearance in her heart: “Very beautiful.”
Long Ling felt a little embarrassed by the compliment, as Aelolis was also a very beautiful woman in her eyes.
Aelolis said softly: “If you get married in the future and need an elf’s blessing, you can come and find me again.”
Annie looked at Long Ling: “Is this elf your friend, Sister Long Ling?”
Long Ling introduced the two: “This is Aelolis, a very good friend of mine. And this is Annie, the daughter of my mother’s friend.”
Annie and Aelolis nodded to each other. Since this was just a fake engagement, all three of them understood the situation implicitly.
Annie continued to draw Long Ling’s eyebrows, saying happily, “Sister Long Ling, the eyebrows are done.”
Long Ling looked at the finished makeup. Both eyebrows were beautifully drawn. She smiled, “Thank you, Annie.”
Annie gave a playful smile: “Sister Long Ling is marrying me now. It’s only right for me to help doll up my bride.”
Long Ling couldn’t help but shake her head slightly. For a young girl like Annie, her first engagement would surely be happier if it were with an Alpha she truly loved.
She saw that Long Ling hadn’t put on her veil yet and said, “Sister Long Ling, haven’t you put on your veil?”
Long Ling remembered: “Maybe I forgot it in the fitting room. I’ll go get it.”
Aelolis quickly said, “Do you want me to help you get it?”
Long Ling shook her head: “No need. I’ll get it and try it on inside. I’ll be back soon.”
Annie: “Okay, we’ll wait for you here. Come back quickly.”
Long Ling got up and left the dressing room alone. As she walked on the red carpet, she could vaguely hear the guests’ noise.
The surrounding maids saw her come out and wanted to help her hold up the train of her wedding dress, but Long Ling declined their help and went to the fitting room by herself.
She found the forgotten veil on the table. It was thin and transparent, embroidered with immaculate white roses using silver thread, looking very beautiful.
Long Ling never thought that her first engagement with such a sense of ceremony would be with Annie. After all, she had always been longing to marry Violet.
But Violet always lied to her, and she had lost confidence in their relationship.
Perhaps, just as her mother said, she could live a good life no matter who she married in the future; it didn’t necessarily have to be Violet.
Long Ling took out a hairpin and fastened the neatly arranged veil onto her pinned-up silver-white long hair.
Suddenly, footsteps were heard outside the fitting room door. She thought it was Annie and couldn’t help but say, “I’ll be ready soon, Annie. Wait for me outside.”
