- Chapter 73 - Why is She Competing and Grabbing Again?
Long Ling looked at the spoon Violet handed over. The blueberry was coated with some ice cream and looked delicious.
The times Violet had fed her could truly be counted on one’s fingers—a rare moment of gentleness and consideration.
As Long Ling was hesitating, Mo Dai immediately scooped up a spoonful and offered it to Long Ling’s lips: “Eat what Mommy feeds you.”
Violet’s hand tensed, and she stubbornly held the spoon in front of Long Ling: “You have to eat what I feed you first.”
Long Ling glanced at Violet, slightly parted her lips, and ate the ice cream fed by her mother.
Violet’s eyes immediately showed a hint of disappointment.
Mo Dai was quite pleased. Thinking of trying to use the food she ordered to curry favor—no way.
The ice cream melted in her mouth, which was very thirst-quenching. Since they were scooped from the same ice cream, there wasn’t really any difference.
Long Ling quietly said, “Things you forbid me from doing, I will do in the future, and I’ll do a lot of them. If you can’t stand it, you can leave now.”
Mo Dai gave Long Ling a look of approval. She should adopt an Alpha’s assertiveness, otherwise, she would always be molded and kneaded by Violet.
Violet also realized that she was too anxious and couldn’t help but use a commanding tone with Long Ling again.
In her heart, Long Ling should belong to her, and Long Ling should listen to her and not do things that make her unhappy.
But that was under the premise that they were dating. Now, she no longer had that status; she was merely a suitor.
Anne watched Violet, this strong and authoritative woman, suffer a setback, and she felt secretly delighted. She unwrapped the cutlery, wiped it clean, and gently handed it to Long Ling.
“Sister Long Ling, I’ve wiped and set this cutlery for you. When the dishes come, you can eat right away.”
Anne wore an expression seeking praise, almost leaning onto Long Ling’s body.
The two of them were already very close. Long Ling consistently maintained a slight distance from Anne and gently said, “Thank you.”
Violet watched Long Ling being so gentle with another Omega, and her heart couldn’t help but fill with more dissatisfaction, and a hint of regret arose.
Seeing that Violet was on the verge of losing her patience, Long Ling assumed she would be unable to bear it and would leave immediately, so she picked up the menu and began ordering.
Most of the dishes in this restaurant were seafood. Long Ling ordered two signature dishes, Salt and Pepper Prawns and Cold Jellyfish Salad, then handed the menu to Mo Dai and Anne.
Mo Dai glanced at Violet. After finishing her order, she didn’t pass the menu to Violet but directly gave it to the waiter, asking them to start serving the food.
The dishes were served quickly. Everyone had their own food in front of them, except for Violet, who had nothing.
Violet sat opposite, her back straight, remaining still and composed.
Mo Dai shared the seafood rice she ordered with Long Ling. Just as Long Ling scooped up a piece of calamari ring, she felt an unavoidable gaze.
She raised her eyes. Violet was sitting across from her.
Violet’s eyes were dim and wronged as she stared at Long Ling and asked, “I was trying to ask, could you please eat mine first?”
Long Ling looked at Violet, who was still holding the spoon with the ice cream that had melted, and said softly, “If you ask like that, then yes, I agree to eat the ice cream you feed me first.”
Violet understood in her heart, and she offered the spoon again: “Do you still want some?”
Long Ling glanced at the melted ice cream: “I want one that hasn’t melted.”
Violet lowered her head and ate the melted ice cream herself, then scooped a fresh spoonful and offered it to Long Ling: “How about this?”
Long Ling lowered her head and said, “Thank you, I like it this way.”
Violet watched her eat the ice cream slowly and in small bites, like a kitten. Her heart softened, and the corners of her lips involuntarily curled into a smile.
So, this was the way Long Ling liked it.
Mo Dai saw that Long Ling still had old feelings for Violet, and she didn’t know what to say. To be fair, she had originally heard that Violet was a disabled Omega, bloodthirsty and cruel, and born of royalty, so she had a stereotype about her.
However, after interacting with her, Violet seemed only to put on airs in front of Mo Dai. In front of Long Ling, she was almost utterly defeated. In truth, as long as she was good to Long Ling, Mo Dai wouldn’t have many objections.
Anne didn’t understand the subtle clash between the two of them. She suddenly felt a strange atmosphere forming between the two, making it impossible for others to blend in.
However, seeing Violet become happy made Anne unhappy. After all, Violet had deliberately chased her away, causing her to feel guilty all night.
Anne used a silver fork to pick up a Salt and Pepper Prawn and placed it on her own plate: “Sister Long Ling, let me peel the shrimp for you.”
The next second, Violet immediately picked up the Salt and Pepper Prawns from the plate.
She had been a military officer. Disassembling a firearm was fluid and seamless, let alone peeling a shrimp.
Not only did she peel it faster than Anne, but within a few seconds, she had removed the shell and the vein entirely, precisely delivering the peeled shrimp to Long Ling’s lips.
Violet asked softly, “Can you eat the shrimp I peeled first?”
Long Ling was stunned for a moment. She looked at the shrimp in front of her. From her perspective as a cook, the shrimp was not perfectly handled, with some rough spots on the surface, but the speed was definitely fast enough.
She nodded hesitantly: “Yes.”
Violet raised her eyebrows, feeling very good: “Eat more. I’ll peel more for you when you’re done.”
Biting into the springy shrimp, Long Ling couldn’t help but think to herself, is this what they call walking the rival’s path so the rival has no path to take?
Anne’s fists were clenched so tightly on the side that they made a grating sound.
She never expected Violet to be this kind of person—not only did she copy Anne by peeling shrimp for Sister Long Ling, but she peeled it faster than her.
By the time Anne finally and awkwardly finished peeling one shrimp, Violet had already peeled a whole plate of shrimp.
She curved her lips and pushed the plate full of peeled shrimp towards Long Ling.
Violet’s eyes were filled with blatant affection: “Eat. These are all yours.”
Mo Dai looked at the bare plate, her chopsticks finding no shrimp to eat, and couldn’t help but feel speechless.
Long Ling covered her forehead, hiding her flushed cheeks: “That’s enough. So many shrimp. Mommy doesn’t have any shrimp to eat.”
Anne watched her own clumsily peeled shrimp and couldn’t help but grind her teeth, making a ge-zhi ge-zhi sound.
Violet silently took back the initiative. She glanced at Mo Dai and Anne, then called the waiter: “Bring another serving of the same shrimp.”
How arrogant.
This thought simultaneously arose in the hearts of both Mo Dai and Anne.
Long Ling thought Violet was going to peel them for herself again and quickly said, “No need, I have enough to eat.”
Violet slightly raised an eyebrow: “Then they’re for your mother to eat.”
Anne felt like she, a big dragon, was being completely ignored.
Mo Dai also felt like she was being dismissed. Why did it feel like Violet was treating their family to dinner now?
Who was the one who was desperately begging to tag along with them just now?!
Long Ling was sitting next to Mo Dai and could feel Mo Dai’s anger, ready to start a fight with Violet at any moment.
It was really hard to keep the peace between them.
Long Ling took the new shrimp served by the waiter, used her fork to secure the back of the shrimp, removed the head and shell, and perfectly peeled two: one for Mo Dai and one for Anne.
“Mommy, Anne, you should eat first. It’ll get cold if you don’t.”
Mo Dai was appeased by her daughter and said with a smile, “My daughter is the most caring, unlike some dragons who only care about themselves and don’t care about others.”
Anne echoed, “Exactly, exactly.”
Violet was not bothered by the passive-aggressiveness at all; she just looked at Long Ling with an accusatory gaze.
Where was her share?
Did Long Ling forget?
She just peeled an entire plate of shrimp for Long Ling. She worked hard, so why didn’t she get any?
Long Ling wanted to pretend she didn’t see it, eating the shrimp peeled by Violet, when suddenly, her relaxed and extended leg was gently nudged by another long leg, which slid lightly up and down against her thigh.
She didn’t even need to look under the table to know that Violet was complaining to her.
Now that her leg was healed, she could move it however she wanted. She was bold enough. What if she touched Mo Dai?
Before Long Ling could fully consider it, Violet’s long leg teased her a few more times.
Long Ling gently kicked back.
She glanced at Violet, and Violet looked back, dissatisfied.
Long Ling was rare to see Violet’s childish side, and the corners of her lips slightly curved. She picked up the largest shrimp on the plate.
After peeling the shrimp, she placed it on Violet’s plate: “Eat it yourself.”
Violet: “Can you feed me?”
Long Ling: “No.”
Violet knew that if Long Ling disagreed now, it truly meant no.
She put the shrimp into her mouth and ate it. The fresh shrimp was springy and refreshing, with a slight sweetness.
Violet quietly lifted the corners of her mouth. As long as Long Ling didn’t drive her away, being next to her was sweet.
After they finished their lunch together, Anne suggested going to the beach to play with a surfboard. Mo Dai planned to purchase some goods, and Long Ling also intended to buy some gifts for Elorias to take back.
During her time in the Elven territory, she owed a lot to Elorias for taking care of and guiding her.
Long Ling asked Mo Dai, “Mommy, are there any specialties in this city that I can buy?”
Mo Dai shook her head slightly: “There are quite a few. I can’t really list them all right now.”
Anne, who often traveled to Freedom City, was very familiar with the area and eagerly spoke up: “Coral, pearls, seashells, all kinds of sea fish, and at night, there are glowing rainbow jellyfish. There are also beautiful mermaids here. Sister Long Ling, are you planning to buy something for someone?”
Long Ling hummed softly: “I have an elf friend in the Mist Forest, and I promised her I would bring her some gifts when I returned.”
Anne gossiped, “Is she just a normal friend, or a very important friend?”
Violet stood beside Long Ling, silently clenching her fingertips tighter. So, it’s not a gift for her, but for that elf lady.
Long Ling answered, “An important friend.”
Violet’s knuckles immediately turned white from clenching. In Long Ling’s heart, is she more important, or is that elf lady more important?
Anne said playfully, “Then let’s go to the beach tonight. We can take a boat to the small island. Many merchants will come over, and there will be a small auction selling rare sea items. I can also introduce Sister Long Ling to some mermaids. Their conch shells sound beautiful, and their fish tails, like dragon tails, are stunning and sparkle.”
Long Ling nodded: “We can go look around together.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly heard Violet’s inner voice.
I hate that little strawberry dragon. You’re not allowed to look at mermaids. You can only look at me!
Violet firmly held Long Ling’s hand: “Can you not go?”
But Long Ling just wanted to make Violet angry, who had bullied her so much before.
Long Ling said indifferently, “No. You can choose to accompany me or not go yourself, but you cannot restrict me now.”
