- Chapter 65 - Do my legs look good?
Long Ling had never tasted the elves’ Immortal Spirit Wine before, so she gladly returned with Aeloris.
The Immortal Spirit Wine is brewed from flower juice and honey, with a mysterious yeast added. Long Ling took a sip, and the wine flavor wasn’t overly strong; it carried a faint floral fragrance, was smooth on the palate, and tasted sweet.
Her alcohol tolerance wasn’t very good; after a few sips, she felt slightly tipsy, and her head was spinning.
Long Ling rubbed her forehead and quickly bid farewell to Aeloris while she was still conscious.
Aeloris walked her back to the treehouse and only turned to leave after Long Ling had closed the door.
Aeloris had met Long Ling’s former fiancée and knew that Violet always brought a large contingent of dragon guards whenever she went out. When Long Ling was confined by her side, she didn’t even have a chance to escape and meet.
She had just seen Violet wandering around in the Mist Forest. Without an elf guide, and only bringing guards, Violet must have been trapped and hadn’t managed to get out.
But Aeloris didn’t want Long Ling to find out, so she used the excuse of tasting the Immortal Spirit Wine to lead Long Ling away.
Aeloris mounted her steed, grabbed her bow and arrow, and, smelling the scent of beast blood carried on the wind, headed straight toward Violet’s location.
The roars of beasts in the forest were violent, the ground shook violently, and a stampede of roaring magical beasts lunged at several dragons. Claws tore at the dragons’ bodies, shattering their scales and leaving them bloody and bruised.
The magical beasts shook off the few dragons and roared as they charged at the woman in the center.
Violet released powerful magic with one hand and shot at the magical beasts with a gun in the other. The intense pain instinctively made the beast pack wary; they backed up, clawing the ground and roaring, yet hesitant to charge again.
Aeloris nocked an arrow, shooting one beast directly in the eye. The beast let out a wail, turned tail, and fled toward the mountains.
The beast had only run a dozen meters when a “bang” rang out behind it; a cold bullet precisely killed the beast on the ground.
The injured dragons instantly transformed back into their human forms, drew their swords, and stood guard around Violet.
Violet put away her hunting rifle, her cold and beautiful eyebrows slightly raised, and looked at the elf riding the white horse: “I don’t need your help.”
Aeloris placed her bow and arrow at her waist, her emerald eyes still gentle: “You dragons can’t enter the elf territory. I can take you out before night falls.”
Violet’s gaze was dark: “If you were truly that kind, you would take me to the elf territory to see Long Ling.”
Aeloris tried to persuade her: “Long Ling doesn’t want to see you right now. Without you, she is much happier than before. You should respect her wishes. If you love her, you shouldn’t hurt or upset her.”
Violet’s look at Aeloris became even colder. If the elf hadn’t suddenly appeared, Long Ling wouldn’t have thought about leaving her side.
She knew how to coax her own little dragon. Their relationship was not for an elf to comment on.
Violet crossed her arms, her tone low: “This is a matter between her and me. If Miss Elf specifically came all this way to say this, I will consider it a deliberate provocation.”
The guards at her side all pointed their sharp swords at Aeloris.
Aeloris gripped the reins, turning her steed, her golden hair slightly swaying as she spoke to Violet.
“After dark, there will be more magical beasts in the Mist Forest. If you don’t care about your life and the lives of your subordinates, you can continue to stay in this forest.”
Violet glanced at the dragon guards beside her. Since entering the forest, they had encountered a large number of difficult magical beasts due to their unfamiliarity with the Mist Forest’s terrain.
These dragon guards were the elite nurtured by the Fergus family. Although no dragons had died yet, most of them had suffered minor injuries.
Violet looked at the exhausted dragon guards beside her.
Violet nodded slightly, followed Aeloris, and together they left the Mist Forest.
Before leaving, Violet fiddled with the ruby on her fingertip and looked at Aeloris: “As long as you leave Long Ling alone, I can give you anything.”
Aeloris shook her head slightly: “Long Ling is a good dragon. I just don’t want to see her be sad because of you again. Your Grace should stay far away from Long Ling in the future.”
Violet was displeased, her eyes growing colder and more arrogant: “Miss Elf has never been in love with a dragon, so how do you know Long Ling doesn’t love me? If she truly didn’t care for me, why would she be sad because of me? What right do you have to tell me to leave Long Ling?”
She refused to believe that Long Ling could fall in love with someone else in less than two months. Everything Long Ling said about never seeing her again must be false.
Aeloris turned around: “Although I have never been in love with a dragon, I will definitely do better than Your Grace.”
Violet clenched the ruby on her thumb until crimson blood was drawn from her fingertip.
The leader of the dragon guards beside her bowed and asked Violet: “Your Grace, should we capture that elf? With an elf leading the way, perhaps we can enter the elf territory.”
Violet glared at the dragon guard leader. The leader realized her mistake and immediately saluted and retreated.
Given her power, she could capture the elf, but that would only push Long Ling further away. She wanted a lover, not an enemy.
If Long Ling insisted on staying in the elf territory and refused to come out, and her leg fully recovered, she could fly over herself to find her. She couldn’t just wait any longer; she could no longer endure life without Long Ling.
Violet picked up a handkerchief and meticulously wiped the blood from her fingertip.
“Have someone keep an eye on Modai’s movements.”
After drinking the Immortal Spirit Wine, Long Ling remained in a slightly tipsy state, drowsy and drunk for several days.
It wasn’t until she woke up in bed and felt her canine teeth itching and an unbearable thirst throughout her body that she realized her rut had come again.
Long Ling then remembered she was an Alpha. Having not had intimate contact with an Omega for a long time, she had forgotten about her rut and hadn’t bought any suppressants.
Modai and Shirley lived next door, but Long Ling thought of her mother, who was also an Omega, and curled up by the door for a while.
The concentration of the strawberry-scented pheromones in the room quickly soared to a very rich level. She struggled to open a small crack in the window, gasping with unbearable discomfort like a fish out of water, trying to endure the body’s torment.
Modai smelled the Alpha’s strong pheromones but was unaffected, realizing it was Long Ling’s rut that had flared up. She quickly went with Shirley to check on Long Ling.
Shirley ran her hand across Long Ling’s cheek and found Long Ling’s face was burning red and her body temperature was abnormally high. Her silver-white dragon tail was restlessly rubbing against the corner of the wall, her translucent dragon horns had turned pink, and her dragon scales were subtly visible.
They quickly found the High Priest, who injected the prepared suppressant into Long Ling’s body. Only then was Long Ling’s physical discomfort alleviated. Sweat poured down her body like rain, and the floor beneath her scorching hot tail was wet with moisture.
Violet had also given her suppressants before, which felt like being forcibly suppressed—the coldness penetrating her bones, leaving her feeling hollow and miserable. Only by inhaling an Omega’s pheromones could this feeling of unsatisfaction dissipate.
However, the suppressant given by the High Priest was not as painful; it had a feeling of the forest rain quietly nourishing everything. Perhaps it was because her time with Violet used to be so intense, and now she was slightly unaccustomed to this.
Long Ling hugged her dragon tail, her breathing still rapid, and her eyes were moist with tears, looking very helpless.
Shirley looked at her daughter’s pitiable state and asked the High Priest for more suppressants to keep nearby, cautioning Long Ling that she could take an injection to ease the discomfort whenever she felt bad.
Her daughter was grown and needed her own space, so they couldn’t stay with her constantly during this time.
Modai took her wife’s hand and left Long Ling’s room, sighing: “I almost forgot our daughter is already an adult. Normally, one injection of this suppressant should be enough. Could it be that she and Duke Violet have been fully marked?”
Not sparing even a newly adult dragon, Shirley, being an elf, was silent for a second: “The High Priest told me that if there was a full mark, the suppressant would also be useless. It seems now like a deep mark. Long Ling can only get through it herself.”
Modai rubbed her temples. Fortunately, Long Ling and Duke Violet separated early. If it had been any later, the two dragons might have had dragon eggs. Thank goodness her daughter wouldn’t have a dominant wife like Violet.
“Once Long Ling’s rut is over, I’ll take her out and have someone introduce her to a suitable Omega.”
Long Ling suffered through the rut for several days. When Aeloris came to find her, Modai was the one who received her.
Aeloris heard that Long Ling’s rut had started after drinking the Immortal Spirit Wine and felt very guilty, bringing Long Ling some magical medicine and food to nourish her body.
Long Ling was wrapped in a blanket in her room, her dragon tail drooping to the floor, where it was curled into a semicircle. A strange blush was on her cheeks.
She had originally intended to avoid Aeloris, but then remembered that Aeloris couldn’t smell her pheromones.
Long Ling only opened a small crack in the window and spoke to Aeloris: “It has nothing to do with drinking the Immortal Spirit Wine. I’ve been through ruts before; it probably just happened to be time. I’m fine; I’ll get better soon.”
Aeloris could only see Long Ling’s moist, ice-blue eyes, which looked like she was sick. She couldn’t help but say gently: “Give me your hand.”
A fair hand, like white jade, stretched out from the window. The fingers were long and beautiful. Aeloris gently took her hand, holding it in her palm.
Long Ling felt the residual heat on her body slowly dissipate, while the hand Aeloris was holding clearly grew hotter. A faint blush appeared on Aeloris’s cheeks, and her other hand noticeably gripped the window frame tightly.
Aeloris smiled and said to her: “This is my way of showing I care.”
Long Ling was surprised that she would do this and was stunned for a moment: “Aeloris, are you okay now?”
Aeloris shook her head: “I’m fine.”
Long Ling grew more worried and quickly closed the window, changed her clothes, and dragged her dragon tail to find Modai. Fortunately, Shirley also said she was fine. This was a secret technique only known to the Elf King, and she hadn’t expected it to be passed on to Aeloris so early. The elven body was different from the dragons, only showing symptoms like a slight fever.
The afterglow of the Mother Tree Festival lasted for half a month before the elf territory returned to its usual calm.
Long Ling followed her original plan and went to the Livo Continent, reopening a tavern next to Modai’s shop.
Modai helped her find a manager and hired local workers. Long Ling was still slightly reluctant to let go of the original tavern, so she still called it Mist Tavern. The decor style was the same as before, but considering the many dwarves nearby, she added some local characteristic elements to make it look more like a native shop.
She sourced large quantities of craft beer, as well as some wine, gin, rum, and cocktails from the Beastkin city. Because she was buying directly, the cost was very low.
The dwarves here loved to drink, and she could sell out a ship’s hold full of alcohol in less than a week.
The tavern business was good, and Long Ling didn’t have to worry too much. She only needed to research recipes in the back kitchen when she had free time. Every day, just before closing, Long Ling would also put on her elf cloak and sit in a corner of the bar to drink two bottles of beer.
Modai wanted her to take over some other businesses, but Long Ling felt there was no rush and that she could take her time. Rather than taking over the successful businesses her mother had established, she preferred to start with things she liked.
It had just rained heavily outside today, and there were only a few scattered customers in the tavern. Long Ling let the employees go home early.
Modai had sent her a message during the day, saying she had introduced her to an Omega and wanted her to meet the person later, but Long Ling wasn’t interested and refused her mother’s introduction.
She was drinking alone in the tavern, flipping through a storybook about the Livo Continent. The sound of the rain outside gradually lessened.
It was almost dark, and Long Ling figured it was about time to close up and rest.
Suddenly, she heard the wind chimes at the door ring; someone had come into the tavern.
Without raising her head, she said directly: “What would you like to drink? You can order directly.”
The sound of the woman’s footsteps slowly drew closer. Long Ling smelled a scent of rose pheromones.
“I’d like a strawberry fruit wine.”
Long Ling looked up in surprise. Violet was standing in front of her, wearing a black coat. Her legs were straight and long, her posture tall and firm, and her aura was stronger than before. Her legs looked completely healed.
She had diligently massaged Violet’s legs for so long before, and now seeing Violet standing in front of her like this, still taller than her, made her feel a mix of emotions.
Violet noticed Long Ling staring at her legs, moved closer to her, and a smile spread in her dark-gold eyes: “Do my legs look good?”
Legs are legs, and people are people; the two things couldn’t be linked. She would not easily forgive Violet no matter what.
What was Violet doing on the Livo Continent instead of in Grice Harbour? Was she also here on a business trip, like Loran?
Long Ling said plainly: “My tavern does not welcome Duke Violet. Please leave here.”
Violet knew Long Ling was still angry, her eyes charming: “My name is now Trovielle. Can I talk with the tavern owner?”
Long Ling was stunned for a second, momentarily speechless: “Trovielle isn’t welcome either.”
Violet walked around the counter, came to her side, and leaned in to speak: “You told me to go back and take my medicine properly, and I listened to you. My legs and dragon tail are both recovered now. Can you come back to me?”
