- Chapter 48 - Captured and Brought Back
The Dragon Guards on horseback dismounted, completely surrounding the tavern.
“Miss Long Ling, we do not wish to use force. Please surrender without resistance.”
Nora had intended to help Long Ling, but the opposing force was the army dispatched by Duchess Violet, leaving Nora helpless.
Seeing Long Ling in danger, Eloris picked up her bow and guarded her, “Do you want me to help you leave this place?”
Long Ling felt uneasy about involving the elf, whom she had just met, in such a crisis. This was the territory of the Evil Dragon Miss, and even if she fled, she couldn’t get far. The Evil Dragon Miss wouldn’t do anything drastic to her, but if she knew Long Ling had run away with the elf, she would definitely take it out on the elf.
How could she cause so much trouble for someone else because of her own affairs?
Long Ling clenched her fists and said with forced composure, “It’s my fiancée looking for me. She won’t hurt me. I can’t stay for dinner tonight, but I’ll cook you a richer meal next time.”
Eloris’s emerald eyes were filled with worry. Long Ling clearly looked like she was being coerced, and being taken away by the army might put her in danger.
“I can protect you. Once we’re in the forest, no one will be able to find you.”
Eloris mounted her white steed and extended her hand towards Long Ling.
The fact that the elf was willing to offer such help the first time they met touched Long Ling, making her even more determined not to implicate the elf.
Long Ling gratefully said, “Thank you. I should be fine; I’m just going home. We’ll meet again soon.”
The Dragon Guard Commander saw Long Ling being sensible and said no more, only signaling his men to bring over a warhorse and helping Long Ling mount it.
Long Ling rode the horse all the way back to Illidan Estate, feeling as though she had returned to a cage made of gold.
She followed the direction led by the Dragon Guard Commander and went to the dining room to see Violet.
Violet was wearing a black coat, sitting at a dining table laden with rich dishes, holding a stemmed glass filled with red wine.
The moment Violet saw Long Ling appear, her tightly strung heart relaxed.
The Dragon Guard Commander respectfully reported to Violet, “Duchess, your subordinate has brought Miss Long Ling back.”
Violet nodded slightly and dismissed the Dragon Guard Commander.
Her cold, beautiful eyes swept over Long Ling, “Decided to come back?”
Long Ling stood motionless, her icy blue eyes immediately turning red. She could maintain some composure in front of others, but in front of Violet, the grievances in her heart were like a raging fire about to erupt.
She wanted to say words of defiance, but her heart felt blocked. The moment she opened her mouth; tears couldn’t stop falling.
Violet saw her eyes red and puffy again, her shoulders trembling, and knew what the little dragon was fussing about. Her tone softened slightly, “As long as you stay in my estate, there will always be a place for you here.”
Long Ling clenched her fingers, rebutting, “I don’t want to be in this place.”
Violet took a sip of red wine, dismissing it as the little dragon’s deliberate temper tantrum. As long as the person was by her side, they could throw a fit however they liked, but they couldn’t leave her.
Violet raised an eyebrow slightly, “Come and sit down to eat.”
Deploying the army to threaten her and dragging her back to the estate, was it all just to have dinner with her?
She didn’t believe it. Violet was definitely going to punish her as she had before.
Long Ling coldly said, “I’m not eating.”
Such repeated defiance was only possible because she relied on Violet’s favor, allowing her to be so reckless.
No Alpha had ever dared to speak to her this way before.
Violet slowly took off her black gloves. Her cold and beautiful face showed no emotion, and her tone remained light, “Long Ling, sit down yourself, or don’t make me personally feed you.”
Long Ling couldn’t stand this oppressive atmosphere any longer. She turned her head, not wanting to stay in the same space as Violet.
She turned around and walked towards the restaurant door, but the Dragon Guard Commander immediately blocked her.
The Dragon Guard Commander whispered, “Miss Long Ling, don’t try to leave. There are Dragon Guards everywhere outside. Even with your dragon wings, you won’t be able to fly out.”
Long Ling was so angry her eyes were red. Was she being treated like a prisoner?
She wasn’t given a title, yet she was locked up. Was she Violet’s mistress?
Long Ling stood still, her rage nearly bursting through her chest, her clenched hands pale from the force, maintaining a distance from Violet.
Violet looked at Long Ling, whose eyes were red and filled with stubbornness, even the translucent dragon horns conveying a sense of grievance.
Violet picked up her staff, her voice low and gentle, “Come here. I won’t be harsh with you.”
Long Ling turned her face away. She would not trust a single word from Violet again.
Violet directly used magic to bind Long Ling.
Long Ling, who was resistant from head to toe, was still pulled in front of Violet.
Was she a dog raised by Violet? Violet could pull her over like this anytime she wanted her nearby.
The power disparity was too great for Long Ling to struggle free. She braced herself for Violet to spank her, but was suddenly grabbed by her collar.
Long Ling was forced to bend her head down, her occiput held by long, fair fingers. Violet’s slightly cool lips suddenly pressed down.
Her jaw was forcefully pried open. After her tongue was bitten, crimson blood rolled down. The kiss, mixed with blood and the scent of rose pheromones, snatched away the thin air in her mouth, licking over her red and tender gums where her canine teeth protruded.
Long Ling was almost breathless, her fair cheeks flushed deep red, her chest trembling constantly. Her hands were bound by magic, preventing her from pushing Violet away. She desperately pressed against Violet’s tongue, refusing to intertwine with it, causing even more blood loss.
Her throat bobbled, and she could only swallow the blood and rose pheromones until she couldn’t bear it anymore and let out a whimper, at which point Violet let go.
Long Ling’s eyes were filled with tears.
Violet’s pale skin also flushed with a sunset-like hue, and she curled her cold, beautiful red lips, “No matter where you run, I will bring you back.”
Long Ling clenched her teeth, refusing to look into Violet’s eyes.
Violet brought her chin back again. Their eyes met, and a flame of anger burned in Long Ling’s pupils.
Violet’s expression was calm, “If you continue to throw tantrums like this, you won’t be allowed to go out. For the next few months, you will stay in the estate and not go anywhere. Study magic properly at home, and if you can’t sit still, go to the farm and ranch to grow your vegetables.”
Long Ling’s fists cracked audibly. She didn’t want to obey her arrangements anymore, “I want to go out!”
Violet smoothed her long, dark, curly hair, her eyes sharp, “You have no right to bargain with me.”
Long Ling looked at Violet and defiantly said, “I don’t want to eat with you.”
Violet’s tone was cold, “If you don’t want to eat, go back to the bedroom and stay there.”
Violet turned her head and said to Butler Marcia outside, “Send Miss Long Ling back to her bedroom and have Elina move all the magic books there.”
Long Ling didn’t want to stay with Violet for another second anyway. She didn’t need Butler Marcia to send her; she could find the way to her bedroom herself.
Violet watched Long Ling leave. A newly adult little Alpha dragon, thinking she could manipulate her this way. She had already shown her a lot of patience.
She ordered the Dragon Guard Commander outside to come in and carelessly asked, “Where did you find Miss Long Ling?”
The Dragon Guard Commander bowed and said, “In the tavern run by Miss Long Ling.”
Violet forked a slice of steak, put it in her mouth, and chewed slowly.
Unsurprisingly, the little dragon’s area of activity was just those few places; she couldn’t run far.
She put down her fork and picked up the wine glass, “What was Miss Long Ling doing at the tavern?”
The Dragon Guard Commander truthfully replied, “Miss Long Ling was having dinner with an elf.”
Violet gently swirled the wine in her glass. Her usually arrogant eyes flashed with confusion, “Why was an elf at the tavern?”
The Dragon Guard Commander said, “By all accounts, elves should live in remote forests. We haven’t seen signs of an elf in years.”
Violet took a sip of wine, “Was it just one elf who came here, or were there a large number of elves appearing simultaneously? Send people to investigate what the elves are trying to do here. If their motives are impure, detain them on the spot and send them to the review board.”
The Dragon Guard Commander immediately accepted the order, “Yes, Duchess.”
Violet didn’t give much thought to the elves. Elves didn’t have many jewels or possessions, and they rarely appeared in gatherings of other races. They had no significant connection with the Dragon race in the past.
However, Butler Marcia seemed to have reported that the vegetables grown by the elves were quite good, and the little dragon quite enjoyed vegetable salad.
Violet finished her dinner alone and returned to the bedroom. Long Ling was reading a magic book by the bed.
As soon as Long Ling heard Violet approaching, she immediately picked up the magic book and tried to leave the bedside.
How could Violet allow the little dragon to hide from her? She picked up her staff and transformed Long Ling into a little dragon, picking her up and cradling her.
Violet asked, “Why were you with an elf today?”
Long Ling couldn’t help but wonder if Violet was going to target the elf or deploy the army to kill them. She involuntarily asked, “What are you going to do?”
Violet noticed the tension in her tone and narrowed her eyes.
Long Ling pursed her lips, “I almost got killed by a Treant when I was lost. She saved my life. Don’t kill her.”
Violet immediately scrutinized Long Ling’s body, checking her from top to bottom, finding a few noticeable scrapes on her arm and the scales on her dragon belly.
Fortunately, the little dragon was unharmed. Violet felt lingering fear, her tone becoming a bit sterner, “How did you end up in a place with Treants?”
Long Ling’s cheeks instantly puffed up with anger. If it weren’t for Violet, she wouldn’t have been flying around alone, nor would she have gotten lost in such a dangerous place. She had thought her life was over.
From then until now, Violet had been harsh towards her. She would not answer any more of Violet’s questions.
Long Ling was determined to become a closed-mouthed clam.
Seeing Long Ling silent, Violet rubbed her dragon horns, placed her on the bed, and checked her again carefully, “It’s good that you’re okay. I’ll have someone reward that elf and allow her to move freely in my territory. I’ll have Elina send over some healing medicine for you later.”
Long Ling’s eyes immediately reddened. It would have been better to be trapped by the Treant than to be tossed around by Violet like this.
Seeing Long Ling feeling wronged again, Violet decided to condescend, “Alright, I’ll apply the medicine for you personally.”
