Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 3
“Her?”
“Who is she?”
Jin Yi’s bloodshot eyes were fixed intently on Qin Zhaomu.
This statement left her incredulous.
According to Qin Zhaomu, someone had stolen the person she loved Ye Yuan.
And Ye Yuan happened to be Chu Weiran’s fiancé.
So, that “her”
Qin Zhaomu let out a scornful laugh and said, “Since you’ve already guessed, why bother asking?”
“No, it can’t be!”
How could that be possible? How could Chu Weiran like her?
Jin Yi took a step forward, her hands trembling as she grabbed Qin Zhaomu’s collar. “Qin Zhaomu, if you cheated, just say so. Why bring up all this nonsense?”
“You’re really…”
Qin Zhaomu frowned. “Let go of me. You’re too close.”
Jin Yi instinctively wanted to release her grip, but upon hearing the second part of the sentence, she held on even tighter.
“I’m too close to you???”
Jin Yi narrowed her eyes, staring at Qin Zhaomu, then went to the bed to retrieve a photo. Pointing at Ye Yuan in the picture, she gritted her teeth and said, “So you like it when someone like him gets close to you, is that it?”
“If you two cheated, then you cheated. If you’re despicable, then you’re despicable. What’s the point of all this nonsense?”
The word “cheated” seemed to strike a nerve in Qin Zhaomu. She broke free from Jin Yi’s grasp on her collar, her expression twisting as she screamed hysterically, “I didn’t, we didn’t cheat!”
“The person I’ve always loved is Ye Yuan, and Ye Yuan is mine.”
“If anyone cheated, it’s me cheating on you, and Ye Yuan cheating on Chu Weiran!!!”
“If it weren’t for Chu Weiran seducing A Yuan, how could we have.”
At first, Jin Yi stared at her in disbelief, thinking her reasoning was utterly absurd.
But when Qin Zhaomu mentioned Chu Weiran seducing Ye Yuan, Jin Yi couldn’t hold back and slapped her across the face.
Qin Zhaomu’s fair cheek instantly turned red.
In the past, Jin Yi would have been heartbroken. At home, she had always wanted Qin Zhaomu to do nothing, giving her everything she desired.
She once believed that Qin Zhaomu was the one she would spend every morning and evening with for the rest of her life.
But who would have thought? It wasn’t “every morning and evening,” but “blowing hot and cold.”
And with so many twisted justifications.
Qin Zhaomu, accustomed to acting, covered her face after being slapped and looked at Jin Yi with tear-filled eyes.
“Xiao Yi!”
“Get out of here right now. I don’t want to see you again.”
She was afraid that if Qin Zhaomu stayed any longer, she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from hitting her again.
But Qin Zhaomu seemed not to hear. With one hand still covering her face, she tugged at Jin Yi’s sleeve with the other and pleaded pitifully, “Xiao Yi, it’s snowing outside. Can I leave tomorrow?”
Jin Yi, still fuming, hadn’t even noticed Qin Zhaomu tugging at her sleeve. Seeing no reaction, Qin Zhaomu tugged again.
“Dirty.”
“What?”
Jin Yi turned around and pried Qin Zhaomu’s fingers off one by one.
Meeting Qin Zhaomu’s teary eyes, she said, “I find you dirty.”
If it weren’t for Ye Yuan, Qin Zhaomu had wondered more than once whether she might have fallen for Jin Yi.
The answer was always yes, because Jin Yi had always been considerate and caring toward her.
Unlike Ye Yuan, who treated her as someone to summon and dismiss at will.
When Chu Weiran wouldn’t let him touch her, Qin Zhaomu was always available for him to manipulate as he pleased.
But after sleeping together, Ye Yuan would still fawn over Chu Weiran like a lapdog.
Only when she was with Jin Yi did she feel happy and content.
Because Jin Yi was the one Chu Weiran loved.
The person she loved was going to great lengths in front of Chu Weiran.
The person Chu Weiran loved was also going to great lengths in front of her.
She enjoyed this feeling.
But after Jin Yi finished speaking, she knew she could no longer indulge in that feeling.
If both Ye Yuan and Jin Yi belonged to her,
she would be the happiest woman in the world.
“Xiao Yi, are you abandoning me?”
Those words completely stunned Jin Yi.
What kind of person had she been in love with all these years???
Everything that had happened today kept shattering her worldview, making her feel like she had been a fool all along.
How could she have ever thought Qin Zhaomu was gentle and kind???
Clearly, she was as thick-skinned as a city wall. Apart from “perverted” and “disgusting,” Jin Yi couldn’t think of any other words to describe her.
Jin Yi used all her strength to shove Qin Zhaomu to the ground, licked her lips, and suppressed the urge to strike her. “Qin Zhaomu, you’re really sick. I must have been blind all these years.”
“Get out of here. Go be with whoever you want.”
Without waiting for Qin Zhaomu to respond, she turned and went into the bedroom, pulled out Qin Zhaomu’s suitcase, and stuffed all her clothes, shoes, and miscellaneous belongings inside.
She even packed all the things Qin Zhaomu had bought for the house and the gifts she had given her into trash bags.
When she came out, Qin Zhaomu was sitting on the sofa, no longer feigning the pitiful act from earlier.
Qin Zhaomu’s fleeting thought had only lasted a moment. All these years, her obsession had always been Ye Yuan. Jin Yi was nothing more than a consolation, a comfort for her empty heart.
More importantly, Jin Yi served to satisfy her desire for revenge against Chu Weiran.
While Jin Yi was packing her things, Qin Zhaomu suddenly remembered the photos.
She went over to check the sender’s name and carefully organized the pictures.
“Can I take the photos with me?”
Only after placing the luggage and trash bags by the door did Jin Yi reply, “Take everything that belongs to you.”
Naturally, that included the photos. Qin Zhaomu nodded, tucked the pictures into her bag, and left the folder on the coffee table.
After doing all this, she wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Instead, she rested her chin on her hand and asked Jin Yi with a smile, “Aren’t you sad at all? Was your love for me all these years just a lie?”
Jin Yi had always known Qin Zhaomu was twisted, but she never imagined she could be this deranged.
“Heh…” Jin Yi let out a cold laugh. Before she could say anything, Qin Zhaomu pressed, “What are you laughing at?”
From last night until now, Jin Yi’s reactions had deviated greatly from what Qin Zhaomu had expected. She thought Jin Yi would argue, make a scene, and become hysterical.
But no, Jin Yi remained calm.
So calm that it made Qin Zhaomu feel bored.
“Don’t you want to know who sent you those photos?”
Finally, Qin Zhaomu saw a crack in Jin Yi’s expression, though it was quickly smoothed over.
“Who sent them doesn’t matter.”
Jin Yi had no desire to speak further with Qin Zhaomu. Even if she wanted to know, she didn’t need Qin Zhaomu to tell her.
When it came to matters of the heart, Jin Yi was someone who could pick things up and let them go. Especially since Qin Zhaomu had ended things through betrayal.
Apart from feeling disgusted by Qin Zhaomu, she also felt disgusted with herself, how could she have failed to see her true nature all these years?
“Get out.”
Qin Zhaomu left, taking her suitcase and the trash with her.
After she left, Jin Yi finally couldn’t hold back and punched the dining table, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at the doorway.
The last words Qin Zhaomu had said echoed in his mind: “When Ah Yuan and I set our wedding date, you must come, okay.”
How utterly disgusting. How could she end up with someone like that?
And she even thought of her as kind and gentle.
From the incident until now, Jin Yi hadn’t felt any heart-wrenching pain just that his eyes were utterly blind, wondering how he had been so thoroughly deceived by her.
How had he ever gotten involved with a disaster like Qin Zhaomu?
After parting ways with Qin Zhaomu, Ye Yuan quickly called Chu Weiran back.
“Ranran, I was a bit busy earlier. I didn’t hang up on you on purpose.”
There was no sound on the other end of the line for a long while. Ye Yuan called out a couple of times in confusion before the other side finally spoke.
The voice was both lazy and captivating.
“Oh~ It’s nothing. I just wanted to ask what you were up to earlier.”
“Then, Ranran, can I come see you?”
“See me?”
Chu Weiran’s voice instantly turned cold. Ye Yuan nervously swallowed and stammered, “I… It’s been so long since we last saw each other. I miss.”
“Don’t even think about it. I don’t have time to see you.”
After hanging up, Chu Weiran lay on the sofa, her eyes fixed on the ceiling, lost in thought. It took her a while before she finally got up and walked slowly toward the window.
She was wearing a loose bathrobe that didn’t show off her figure, but as she moved, there was an undeniable sensuality to her.
Outside, the snow was falling heavier and heavier, blanketing the entire city of Ling in a thick layer of white.
The snowy scenery during the day appeared solemn and dignified, but at night… it was dotted with stars and exceptionally beautiful.
Chu Weiran tightened her bathrobe and murmured softly, “A night like this, with the first snow, is just right for setting off fireworks.”
Feeling inspired, she took out a bottle of red wine and sat on the recliner on the balcony to drink.
She didn’t usually drink, but once she started, she often had trouble controlling herself.
In the end, Chu Weiran fell asleep on the recliner.
She had been drinking until 3 a.m. and didn’t wake up until the afternoon.
Sitting up, she took a moment to gather herself before slowly putting on her bathrobe and heading to take a shower.
Fresh out of the shower, Chu Weiran heated herself a glass of milk.
It was a bit too hot, so she lay on the sofa, waiting for it to cool down.
She used to always drink cold milk, but someone had once told her that milk tastes best when it’s scalding hot.
But Chu Weiran was sensitive to heat, so she settled for warm milk instead.
After a few minutes, she reached out with her pale, slender fingers and lightly tapped the glass. It should be warm enough now.
She was the epitome of laziness instead of sitting up, she lay there and picked up the glass.
Just as she brought it to her lips, she realized that drinking it like this might be more troublesome, as it could spill.
So, she slowly sat up.
Since she hadn’t dried her hair after her shower, it was still wet, and as she moved, strands of it stuck to her face.
How annoying.
Chu Weiran irritably brushed her hair back and continued drinking her milk.
But just as she brought it to her lips again, she frowned slightly. It still seemed a bit too hot.
She blew on it once more and was about to take a sip when the doorbell rang.
Chu Weiran felt annoyed.
She thought to herself, What terrible timing. At least let me finish my milk first.
She set the glass down on the coffee table, stood up slowly, and headed to the walk-in closet.
She began rummaging through her clothes, one piece after another.
A skirt won’t do, it’s too cold for that now, and it would look out of place.
A coat is no good either wearing so many layers at home feels odd.
A sweater, a shirt.
After deliberating for a long time, Chu Weiran still couldn’t find a suitable outfit and ended up coming out in her bathrobe again.
She grew even more frustrated.
She hadn’t managed to drink her milk, hadn’t picked out any clothes, and now the doorbell was ringing.
When she passed the full-length mirror by the door, she felt like all her earlier efforts had been in vain.
Even in her bathrobe, the woman in the mirror was beautiful her hair jet-black, her skin fair, and her lips naturally rosy.
The tiny mole at the corner of her mouth added a touch of sensuality.
It was just that the bathrobe was a bit revealing.
After tightening it, Chu Weiran walked to the door and opened it.
The person waiting outside was clearly growing impatient, frowning and glaring at her sharply.
Chu Weiran found it somewhat amusing and leaned lazily against the doorframe.
“Qin Zhaomu, I’ve been waiting for you for so long without getting impatient. What’s the rush?”
