Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 19
Regarding their first “date,” Chu Weiran was actually quite nervous.
However, this did not affect her performance in the slightest. Her goal was clear now; her heart and eyes were completely filled with her underclassman. As she leaned her head against Jin Yi’s shoulder, her body followed suit, drawing closer.
It was autumn, so the physical contact did not feel sticky or stifling. Instead, it felt refreshing and smooth. Jin Yi’s skin was truly wonderful. Since Chu Weiran was a bit shorter, a slight tilt of her head allowed her to see Jin Yi’s profile. Not only was her skin flawless, but her nose was elegantly shaped, and her lips were the perfect thickness; they would surely feel comfortable to kiss.
Actually, they were comfortable just to look at, let alone kiss. In Chu Weiran’s eyes, there was no one in the world more beautiful than Jin Yi. Thinking about this, her eyes crinkled into a smile.
Her movements were so obvious that Jin Yi would have to be a fool not to notice. Jin Yi caught Chu Weiran staring out of the corner of her eye, but she did not dare look back, choosing instead to keep her eyes fixed straight ahead. She was not used to this gentle version of Chu Weiran. It felt strange.
As they walked along, Chu Weiran’s grip tightened. By the time they reached the gate, Jin Yi could not take it anymore.
“It is a bit tight.”
“Hmm? What is?”
Perhaps because they were so close, the tip of Chu Weiran’s nose seemed to have turned a bit red from rubbing against her. She looked like a rabbit. She also looked a bit dazed.
“Dazed little rabbit.”
“What?”
Chu Weiran frowned in confusion. What was Jin Yi saying? She did not seem to understand.
“Ahem. Where are we going?”
“To.”
Chu Weiran thought for a long while but had no idea where to go. She had never been on a date before and had no experience. However, she figured being agreeable was always the right choice. She gave Jin Yi’s hand a little shake and said, “I will listen to you.”
The comment sent a shiver down Jin Yi’s spine. She instinctively pulled her hand away and said with some difficulty, “Can you not always act like this? Please?”
She did not know what kind of craze Chu Weiran was going through, but it was definitely not normal. She could not get used to it.
“Do you not like it when people are gentle?”
“Whatever you say.”
Speaking of dating experience, Jin Yi did not have much either, but they could not just stand there forever. There was a commercial street near their school, though it was somewhat small. Based on Chu Weiran’s lifestyle, Jin Yi assumed she would not like it, so she asked, “Is it okay if we go there?”
“Anywhere is fine as long as I am with you!”
Well, that was a wasted question. Jin Yi decided she would just make the calls herself since Chu Weiran seemed to have lost her brain.
The commercial street was not exactly tiny, at least large enough to make Chu Weiran walk until she was exhausted. The young mistress was pampered and naturally lazy, usually getting very little exercise. At first, her pace was normal, but as they walked, Jin Yi noticed Chu Weiran’s breathing becoming ragged. If she had not been holding onto Jin Yi, she probably would have fallen behind.
Since it was the weekend, the street was crowded, mostly with couples. Both of them were beautiful; one possessed an elegant and charming aura, while the other was pure and cute. They drew attention wherever they went.
Chu Weiran could endure the fatigue, but she could not endure all those people staring at Jin Yi! She tugged at Jin Yi’s sleeve and whispered, “I want to find a quiet place to rest.”
“What?”
The street was practically shoulder-to-shoulder. Where was she supposed to find a quiet place right now? Sure enough, the young mistress could not stay well-behaved for long before she started acting up again.
“Young mistress, if you know a quiet place, why don’t you lead the way?”
Chu Weiran did not answer. Instead, she rubbed her hands together looking a bit aggrieved. She had realized by now that Jin Yi responded to the “soft” approach rather than the “hard” one. If she was even slightly willful, Jin Yi would get angry. She had to show her soft side to Jin Yi.
“So many people are looking at you. I do not like it.”
She regretted it. she should not have come shopping. She should have just stayed in Jin Yi’s dorm and refused to leave, then she could have kissed Jin Yi’s soft lips.
Jin Yi never expected that this was the reason Chu Weiran wanted to find a quiet spot. She was speechless.
“Sister, do you not think more people are looking at you?”
Jin Yi was self-aware. She had a good height and her looks were above average, but certainly not enough to make everyone stare.
“It does not matter if they look at me, but I do not like them looking at you.” Chu Weiran’s tone was stubborn. She simply hated it when anyone looked at Jin Yi.
Jin Yi felt she was becoming increasingly helpless against her. She threw up her hands and asked, “Then where do you want to go?”
“Let us go see a movie.”
The theater would be dark and quiet, and she could steal glances at Jin Yi!
“Fine.”
The two eventually chose a popular movie. Chu Weiran bought the tickets for the very back row. While Jin Yi was buying popcorn, Chu Weiran felt a deep sense of self-disdain. She was in her late twenties, nearly thirty, yet she was playing out such a childish drama. Buying the last row was purely to have some private space with Jin Yi. Buying popcorn was so Jin Yi would pamper her.
When Jin Yi returned with the popcorn and cola, she found Chu Weiran with her eyes narrowed and the corners of her mouth turned up in a smile. Jin Yi’s lip twitched. She really thought Chu Weiran was not acting normally. Do people really change this much when they grow up?
“Alright, let us go get the tickets.”
While getting the tickets, Chu Weiran kept her eyes on Jin Yi, fearing she would notice her little scheme. Fortunately, Jin Yi was distracted and did not notice a thing.
They arrived early, so they sat in the theater for about ten minutes before the movie started. Once the lights went out, Chu Weiran began to act up. She leaned against Jin Yi’s shoulder as if she had no bones. Jin Yi was about to help her sit up when she saw two people crouching as they hurried toward them.
She felt one of them looked familiar and stood up slightly to get a better look. Chu Weiran’s head suddenly lost its support, and she grumbled something unhappy in Jin Yi’s ear, which went unheard.
Jin Yi’s focus was entirely on those two people. Once she saw them clearly, she hurriedly ducked her head. She wanted to hide, but there was nowhere to go. She had no choice but to follow Chu Weiran’s lead and shrink into her embrace.
It was soft and fragrant. Jin Yi froze instantly. She wanted to pull away, but she was afraid of being seen. Chu Weiran, completely unaware of Jin Yi’s inner turmoil, took this as a sign of affection. She pressed Jin Yi’s head further in, pulling her tightly against her own soft chest.
Jin Yi’s face turned a betraying shade of red.
