The funeral for the Duchess was held on a scale worthy of her rank.
Her body, without a single wound and looking as if she were peacefully asleep, was carefully placed in a glass coffin.
However, it was only a hollow funeral.
Not a single person truly mourned her. The visitors had only one purpose.
To see Eleanor, the Duke, who was now truly back in the social circles of Lezan after losing his wife.
The emperor, who came personally from the capital’s royal palace to visit the Duke’s residence, spoke calmly.
“You need to remarry, Rayan.”
For a moment, Rayan thought he had misheard. Or maybe it was a bad joke.
But there was not a trace of playfulness in the emperor’s eyes. The emperor continued as if it was normal.
“I heard the princess of the Ignel kingdom is still interested in you. Her efforts are admirable. It has already been five years since she passionately proposed marriage to you, hasn’t it?”
“Your Majesty.”
“If she is royalty of Ignel, she is not a partner below Eleanor’s status. Or, Duke, do you already have someone in mind?”
