It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 54
Princess Jenna herself remained completely silent. Her lips were pressed tightly together, her expression stern.
I panicked, wondering if I had said something terribly inappropriate.
“My apologies. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“Why would you think I like that kind of dress? As Lady Anastasia said, it doesn’t suit me at all.”
Princess Jenna spoke with clear displeasure.
“That pink-stone bracelet you often wear—it’s from Primrose, isn’t it? Since you seemed to treasure it so much, I thought you must be fond of it.”
“Eh?”
Princess Jenna’s face instantly flushed red. Just then, there was a clatter from behind.
When I turned to look, Prince Lucas was staring at us with a surprised expression for some reason.
“H-how did you notice that! I made sure not to wear it in crowded places!”
“I happened to notice because Your Highness would occasionally gaze intently at the bracelet on your wrist. When you looked at it, Princess Jenna, you had such a happy expression that I thought you must be very fond of that bracelet.”
At my words, Princess Jenna’s already red face grew even redder.
It was only then that it occurred to me for the first time that the bracelet might have been a gift from someone.
Perhaps Princess Jenna treasured the bracelet not because she liked Primrose Boutique’s products, but because she valued the person who gave it to her.
Having not received any gifts since my own mother was alive, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind at all.
Just then, footsteps approached from behind, and Prince Lucas came to stand beside Princess Jenna.
“Jenna! You still have the bracelet I gave you! Since I never saw you wearing it, I thought you must have thrown it away!”
“Wh-what! How rude! I would never throw away a gift!”
Princess Jenna retorted defiantly to Prince Lucas, who seemed delighted.
I looked up at Prince Lucas curiously.
“Were you the one who gave her the bracelet?”
“That’s right. I bought it for her years ago, but I had no idea she treasured it so much.”
Prince Lucas spoke in a cheerful voice.
Given how mature Princess Jenna seemed, I had thought it might be from a lover or someone like that, but it appeared the giver was her brother, Prince Lucas.
Princess Jenna said with a sullen expression:
“It’s not like I treasured it just because you gave it to me, Brother. It’s simply because it was an unusual design that I don’t have many of.”
“If you liked the design, that makes me even happier.”
Prince Lucas laughed as he responded to Princess Jenna, who was acting aloof.
