It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 48
“Oh, in that case, I’d like to go too! I’ve been studying the language of the Tease Kingdom recently, so I’d love to try it out locally! And I’d like to see that magic tool as well!”
“My, Lady Jenna is always so studious. Then shall Lady Jenna join us as well?”
“Yes, absolutely!”
With Lady Anastasia between them, Prince Theodore and Lady Jenna were laughing happily.
“Big brother and big sister are being unfair! Avery wants to go too!”
“Of course. Lady Avery, let’s buy lots of stuffed animals and clothes at the souvenir shops in the Tease Kingdom,” Lady Anastasia said cheerfully to Lady Avery, who was leaning forward.
Every time Lady Anastasia spoke, the princes’ expressions softened.
Behind me, Camilla and the others were whispering discontentedly, “She’s just baiting them with gifts.”
But to me, having the power and connections to provide what others desired seemed like a talent in itself.
She got along well with the three royals, had the strong backing of the ducal house, and could provide them with enjoyable occasions like this.
As I watched the tea party, I felt a bit sad, thinking that Lady Anastasia was much more suited for the royal family than I was.
Lady Anastasia’s tea party ended as peacefully as it had begun.
The three stood up with smiles. Lady Anastasia handed each of them a gift.
“I prepared gifts that would suit each of you perfectly. Would you accept them as a final token?”
“Thank you very much, Lady Anastasia.”
“May I open it? Oh my, a black pearl necklace! How lovely!”
“Mine is a headdress! It’s so cute!”
All three made admiring sounds as they looked at their gifts.
“I chose them to match each of you. For Lord Theodore, a brooch you can wear at evening parties. For the dignified Lady Jenna, a black pearl necklace that suits you perfectly. For Lady Avery, a cute red ribbon headdress.”
Lady Anastasia said with a smile. All three thanked her cheerfully.
I thought there was absolutely nothing lacking in Lady Anastasia’s tea party. Camilla and the others were watching her with frustrated expressions from behind.
Prince Lucas also looked somewhat restless and anxious.
As for me, though I had been determined to do my best, after seeing Lady Anastasia’s tea party, I felt completely crushed by the pressure.
