It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 42
Why did you choose someone like me? And what did you mean when you said you were drugged on the day we first met at the palace party?
I wanted to ask both questions, but the former was too embarrassing to bring up, and the latter didn’t seem appropriate for this pleasant gathering.
“Then, I’d like to know about your relationship with your siblings, Your Highness. Do you spend much time with your younger brother and sisters?”
After some deliberation, I decided to ask about his relationship with his siblings, thinking it might be useful for this tea party.
I thought I’d chosen a safe question, but Prince Lucas crossed his arms and fell into thought.
“Our relationship, I don’t think it’s particularly bad.” he said hesitantly. Though he claimed it wasn’t bad, he seemed to harbor some complicated feelings.
“I see.”
“Yes, all three of them are good kids. Actually, I get along best with Avery among my siblings. She’s ten years younger, so she’s adorable.”
“Oh, Princess Avery. I thought she seemed somewhat similar to you in demeanor, Your Highness. So, you two are indeed close.”
I spoke while recalling the portrait Aria had shown me – Princess Avery with her golden hair much like Prince Lucas’s, wearing a charming smile. Imagining Prince Lucas playing with Princess Avery made me smile involuntarily.
“Is that how it looked? I’m happy to hear you say that, Clarissa.”
Prince Lucas smiled somewhat shyly.
Then, after a moment of thoughtful silence, he continued.
“As for my other sister Jenna, unlike Avery, we’re a bit more distant, but she’s a good kid too. Jenna is fluent in foreign languages, so she often accompanies me on visits abroad. She not only handles the language perfectly but also memorizes all the customs and history of our destinations, which is incredibly helpful.”
“That’s wonderful. She must be very respectful of other nations.”
“Yes. I feel I should learn from her,” Prince Lucas said cheerfully.
“Theodore, however…”
But when it came to the second prince, Theodore, Prince Lucas’s expression clouded over for some reason.
“Is something wrong?”
“Ah, no. It’s just that Theodore might not like me very much. Though I’d like for us to get along better.”
Prince Lucas smiled somewhat sadly as he said this.
Perhaps Theodore was the reason Prince Lucas had looked so troubled earlier.
