- Chapter 2 - The A-Rank Male
Military Barracks
“Hey, did you guys hear? Word is someone discovered an unregistered Male Lord on a border planet.”
A sentry Female, thoroughly bored out of his mind on guard duty, excitedly shared the news with his squadmates the moment he saw the flash report.
Another soldier scoffed, entirely skeptical. “Real or fake? From the moment a Male is born, the Empire places them under maximum security. Even if they aren’t in state care, they have their fathers to look after them. Why on earth would one be stranded on a barren wasteland of a border planet?”
Seeing his comrade’s disbelief, the first sentry rushed to clarify. “It’s absolutely true! My cousin works at the military hospital and told me himself. He even mentioned that this specific Male Lord has an incredibly gentle disposition.”
“Heavens… it’s been ages since I’ve heard of a sweet-tempered Male Lord. I’m going to court him!”
“What nonsense are you spouting? Focus on your guard duty.”
The soldiers were still eagerly gossiping when a sharp reprimand cut through the air.
“Admiral on deck!”
Oh no, that’s Major Days’ voice. Admiral Asayer is here.
The Admiral had caught them slacking off on guard duty. We’re dead, we’re absolutely dead, ahhhhh!
The soldiers snapped their heads up, eyes locking onto the figure approaching them. The commander possessed cascading silver hair that gleamed like moonlight, exceptionally soft and radiant.
His eyes were even more breathtaking a pair of blue-purple heterochromatic irises that resembled precious, flawless gemstones catching the light. His features were sharply defined and aristocratic, his skin as fair as unblemished jade, and his nose bridge rose high and elegant. Wearing a meticulously tailored, moon-white military dress uniform that sharply contoured his flawless physique, he exuded an aura that was intensely sacred and untouchable.
Asayer had no intention of wasting energy on their minor infraction and simply walked straight past them. Although he didn’t utter a single word, the icy glance from his cold eyes caused the soldiers to instinctively throw their shoulders back and stand perfectly at attention.
Seeing his superior walk ahead, Major Days quickly hurried to follow. Before traveling too far, however, he turned back to glance at the sentries and flashed a knowing smile.
“Mind yourselves next time. Don’t engage in idle chatter during guard duty. The Admiral happens to be in a decent mood today; you won’t be nearly as fortunate next time.”
“Yes, sir! Understood, sir!” The soldiers wiped away imaginary cold sweat from their brows, hurriedly responding in relief.
“What were they discussing just now? An unregistered Male Lord discovered on a border world? How peculiar. Why would a Male ever end up on the frontier?” Days mused, his curiosity piqued by the rumor.
“Days, have you finalized the review of all the standard data files?” Asayer countered coldly. He held absolutely zero interest in the subject of Males.
In his perspective, with the sole exceptions of his own brother and father, Male Zerg were universally wretched creatures. They were entirely selfish, greedy, and violent, treating Females like disposable property and physically abusing them at their slightest whim. They contributed nothing of value to society and possessed no real capabilities. Aside from their biological necessity for reproduction, Asayer truly failed to see what purpose they served.
Oh, right, he corrected himself bitterly, they can soothe a Female’s psychic instability.
But considering how physically weak and fragile they were these days, how much actual output could they even manage? Asayer thought with deep, unyielding disgust.
“Furthermore, Commander, the Marshal requested that you return to the estate for dinner this evening,” Days reported.
Asayer paused, considering the request. It had indeed been quite a while since he last returned home or seen his family. “Compile and organize all of today’s remaining documents ahead of schedule,” he commanded.
“Understood, Admiral.”
Meanwhile, having completed his genetic evaluation, Lu Li sat in a private lounge waiting for his results. As he was calmly mapping out his current situation, a frantic, joyfully excited voice shattered his train of thought.
“Lord Lu Li! The genetic sequencing results are complete. You possess the genetic signature of a rare A-rank Male! However… it is with deep regret that we found absolutely no corresponding ancestral data within the Imperial database.”
The technician who delivered the news spoke with trembling reverence.
Of course you didn’t, Lu Li thought smoothly. I’m not even a citizen of this universe, let alone an insect. How could my information possibly exist in your records?
Still, he hadn’t anticipated that he would be categorized as an A-rank Male. Though he lacked an exact understanding of what an “A-rank Male” signified, judging by their ecstatic reactions, it was clearly a highly favorable position. Regardless of the anomalous science that had altered his biology, his immediate priority was to anchor himself here.
Lu Li decided that he needed to secure a proper residence first so he could thoroughly study the laws of this world and discover what exactly it meant to be a Male.
Clearing his throat softly, he spoke with gentle composure. “In that case, could you provide me with a residence? I would like to head back and rest for a bit.”
In all his years of service, the technician had never encountered a Male who spoke with such exquisite manners. Deeply flattered and overwhelmed, he responded eagerly, “Of course! I will contact the Male Protection Association immediately. They will certainly provide an estate that meets your utmost satisfaction.”
The Vice Chairman of the Association, having caught wind of the marvelous news, hurried into the room and bowed respectfully. “My Lord, you may select any residence you desire directly through your optical terminal. Your monthly Male sovereignty stipend will also be deposited into your personal account systematically.”
“This is your official optical terminal. We were unable to locate your previous device; it was likely incinerated during the incident.”
An aide stepped forward, handing Lu Li a translucent, watch-like device that radiated high-tech sophistication. Though Lu Li found the device incredibly novel, he maintained a perfectly calm facade, refusing to betray his inner amazement in front of the crowd.
He slipped the terminal onto his wrist and activated the display. As the images of the available properties loaded, he was internally stunned. Good heavens massive luxury villas, sprawling estates, grand penthouses, and vast private gardens.
The societal treatment of Males here is absurdly luxurious.
Since the system was offering such lavish accommodations, Lu Li decided to opt for a property featuring a sizeable private ground. He possessed dual-element affinity over Water and Wood; a private garden would be the perfect secluded environment to test the current state of his powers.
Pointing to a grand villa with a lush garden, Lu Li stated, “I’ll take this one.”
The accompanying staff member bowed deeply. “Understood, My Lord. Allow me to guide the way.”
Boarding the transport ship, Lu Li couldn’t help but marvel internally at the sheer advancement of their interstellar technology.
Upon arriving at the grand villa, the escorting staff member offered a formal military salute. “My Lord, we have arrived. The estate is fully staffed with domestic androids to manage your daily lifestyle and maintenance. If you require any additional accommodations, you may submit a formal application directly to the Association. If there is nothing else, I shall take my leave.”
“Alright. Thank you, and have a safe journey back.”
Once the escort departed, Lu Li pushed open the grand double doors, and a vast, sunlit living room stretched out before him. The interior design leaned toward high-end minimalism, featuring elegant, fluid architecture and an impeccably balanced color palette. Rare, expensive artwork hung along the walls, lending a distinct artistic sophistication to the expansive space. In the center sat a plush, deep-set sofa layout that looked exceptionally inviting.
The environment is excellent, Lu Li noted.
As he was admiring the interior details, a small dome-shaped robot rolled up to his feet.
“Greetings, Master! I am the domestic automation unit assigned to oversee your household. You may issue any directives to me directly. Master, Master, please grant me a personal designation!”
Lu Li looked down at the little machine. With its round, oversized head and short, stubby chassis, it looked incredibly endearing. “Let’s call you Yuanyuan then.”
“Understood, Master! Do you have any immediate requests?”
Having just arrived in this foreign universe, Lu Li needed to grasp its fundamental societal framework. “Locate comprehensive historical records and educational texts regarding the history of the Zerg Empire and stream them directly to my optical terminal. That will be all for now. I’m exhausted and going to rest.”
Lu Li walked through the halls, carefully cataloging the structural layout of the villa. Finding nothing out of place or suspicious, he headed into the primary suite and collapsed onto the massive bed. The mattress was exceptionally wide and soft, cradling his exhausted body like a layer of pure white clouds.
Lying down, Lu Li activated his terminal to review the documentation Yuanyuan had sent over.
As it turned out, the demographics of the Zerg universe suffered from a severe scarcity of Males and a massive surplus of Females. Consequently, the society enforced a polygamous marital structure where one Male could claim multiple Female partners. Furthermore, upon reaching physical maturity, Females fell victim to violent psychic stability collapses that required a Male’s psychological pheromones to soothe and regulate.
No wonder Alphas or rather, Males enjoy such extreme, pampered privilege here, Lu Li realized.
After a long, chaotic day of survival and transition, the constant reading caused his awareness to grow heavy and blurred. Before long, his breathing evened out into a deep, peaceful slumber.
