Inferior Sincerity - Chapter 7
There was a bit of traffic on the road, and by the time Fu Chen and Ji Chen reached the hotel, it was already close to six o’clock. Song Chengfeng had been waiting for them in the room for nearly an hour, his face dark with annoyance.
On the top floor of the Song family’s hotel was a suite shared exclusively by the three of them. Anyone of them could use it whenever they needed, and they usually liked to hang out and meet up here.
The moment Fu Chen pulled out a limited-edition snowboard, Song Chengfeng’s dark expression instantly cleared up.
“As expected of Young Master Fu, always so generous,” Song Chengfeng beamed with joy.
Song Chengfeng loved snowboarding, so he spent a lot of his free time collecting snowboards, especially limited-edition ones. The board Fu Chen brought was the hardest piece to acquire from the collection Song Chengfeng was trying to complete. It wasn’t something you could get just with money; it mostly required connections.
This gift hit right at Song Chengfeng’s weak spot.
However, the moment he saw Ji Chen pull out a copy of Top Student’s Notes, Song Chengfeng’s face darkened all over again.
“Ji Chen, are you out of your mind?!” Song Chengfeng cursed loudly.
“This is called tit for tat,” Ji Chen raised an eyebrow.
Last year on Ji Chen’s birthday, he had just broken up with his first love. To comfort Ji Chen’s wounded soul, Song Chengfeng had bought him a copy of Thirty-Six Stratagems of Love, aiming to help him let go of the past and find a new romance.
“To exact your revenge, you actually bided your time for a whole year. You are so scheming.” Song Chengfeng expressed his deep condemnation of Ji Chen’s behavior, and once again offered praise to Fu Chen. “Our Chenchen is still the best.” Song Chengfeng coquettishly hugged one of Fu Chen’s arms, rubbing his head against Fu Chen’s shoulder. “You know how to cherish people.”
“Say one more word and I’m taking the snowboard back.” Fu Chen was successfully disgusted by Song Chengfeng and reached out to push his head away.
“A gift given is like water spilled, once it’s in my hands, it’s mine.” Song Chengfeng raised an eyebrow in triumph, letting go of Fu Chen.
The birthday party was set to start at seven, and Song Chengfeng had prepared two suits for the two of them. “Here, you two go change.”
Fu Chen took the black suit on the left; the aqua-blue suit next to it was clearly prepared for Ji Chen.
While Fu Chen and Ji Chen changed on one side, Song Chengfeng sat idly on the sofa, flipping through the Top Student’s Notes.
“How is that illness of yours going?” Song Chengfeng asked Fu Chen while browsing through the notes.
“Won’t die from it,” Fu Chen replied concisely, unbuttoning his school uniform shirt one button at a time.
Song Chengfeng glanced over. “Whoa! Look at those abs, nice going, brother!”
“I heard they found your destined match for you, and they even moved into your place, and you guys got engaged?” Song Chengfeng continued the previous topic. “I never would’ve thought, among the three of us brothers, you’re the youngest, yet you’re actually going to be the first one with a wife.”
Fu Chen took off his shirt, tossed it aside, and gave Song Chengfeng a cold look.
One look worth a thousand words.
Song Chengfeng chuckled. “Looks like this destined match hasn’t caught Young Master Fu’s eye. Don’t tell me it’s Ruhua reincarnated? Does he look like he owes an apology to the citizens of the Alliance?”
Over on the other side, Ji Chen was also taking off his shirt, and Song Chengfeng immediately critiqued him as well. He laughed and said, “Chen, how did you manage to get a potbelly!”
“I saw that Omega today. What Ruhua? The person genuinely looks like a flower; I’ve never seen such a good-looking Omega,” Ji Chen said. Then, turning serious, he added, “Also, this isn’t called a potbelly, this is called loving oneself and refusing to have body anxiety. Loving oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
“Is that your excuse for gaining 15 pounds over winter break?” Song Chengfeng laughed so hard he rolled around on the sofa.
Faced with Song Chengfeng’s mockery, Ji Chen delivered a crushing counterattack in the form of a Mount Tai press, making Song Chengfeng realize that those 15 pounds of flesh weren’t gained for nothing.
“Taste my Mount Tai Press!” With a small run-up, Ji Chen charged toward the sofa.
“Ow! I can’t breathe!” Song Chengfeng was pinned under the weight, gasping for air. “Young Master Ji, please recall your magical powers!”
“Are you wrong or not?” Ji Chen gave Song Chengfeng another elbow strike, pressing against his chest.
“I’m wrong, I’m wrong!” Song Chengfeng immediately begged for mercy. “I really am wrong!”
“That’s more like it.” Ji Chen stopped right there, but taking advantage of Ji Chen’s brief moment of carelessness, Song Chengfeng used a clever maneuver to flip Ji Chen and pin him underneath instead.
“Taste my Brother Feng’s Tickle Attack!” Song Chengfeng precisely hit Ji Chen’s ticklish spots. Unable to handle the assault, Ji Chen begged for mercy repeatedly.
By the time the two of them finished fooling around, Fu Chen had already finished changing. He leaned against the wall and began pulling out his phone to reply to messages.
Ji Chen and Song Chengfeng stopped messing around and both looked at Fu Chen.
“Damn! So freaking stylish!” Song Chengfeng exclaimed. “My taste is truly amazing.”
“Red beans grow in the southern land, Young Master Fu is a male model!” Ji Chen also gave a thumbs-up.
Fu Chen gave a slight nod in acknowledgment, his hands never stopping as he typed rapidly.
“How long’s the backlog of messages you’ve accumulated this time?” Song Chengfeng smiled. Fu Chen often didn’t reply to messages, only answering them all at once when he occasionally remembered. Therefore, if you wanted to make plans with Fu Chen, it was best to call him; if you sent a message, there was no telling when he would reply.
It wasn’t that Fu Chen did it on purpose; he genuinely tended to forget to reply to other people’s messages.
“A week,” Fu Chen said as he finished replying to the very last message. It was from his front-row deskmate, Shu Ran, inviting him to play the male lead in this year’s anniversary stage play. Fu Chen rejected it without a single second of hesitation.
Most of the people attending the birthday party were prominent figures from City A. Looking across the room, it was all familiar faces; after all, the upper circle of City A was only this small.
Song Chengfeng went up to give an opening speech. A birthday party like this was just for show, and in reality, it was a networking opportunity to build connections and attach oneself to influential people. Song Chengfeng understood this well, kept his speech very brief, and stepped down to chat with Fu Chen and Ji Chen.
Halfway through their conversation, the lobby manager suddenly leaned close to Song Chengfeng’s ear and whispered something. Hearing it, Song Chengfeng’s eyes widened, and then he burst into a grin.
Song Chengfeng said to Fu Chen, “A-Chen, your wife is here!”
Wen Yu had waited in the first-floor lobby for a long time before the manager finally said, “I am sorry, Mr. Wen, but Mr. Fu said he does not know you. You should head back.”
Wen Yu had actually guessed that this would be the outcome, so he asked, “Then can I sit on the lobby sofa and wait for him?”
The lobby manager looked a bit troubled. Wen Yu lowered his gaze slightly to compose himself, then lifted a pair of slightly damp eyes to look at the manager, his tone sincere: “I won’t cause you any trouble. I just want to find a place to do my homework.”
With that, Wen Yu clutched the straps of his schoolbag tighter, looking somewhat flustered, uneasy, and rather pitiful.
Wen Yu naturally looked innocent, pure, and flawless like jade. Being looked at with such slightly upturned, reddened, glistening eyes, coupled with his nervous, whispered pleading, almost flustered the Beta manager so much that words of refusal simply could not leave his mouth. In the end, the manager said, “You can go ahead, it’s fine.”
“Thank you.” Wen Yu smiled at the manager, then turned around with a blank expression and walked toward the soft and spacious-looking sofa in the lobby.
He genuinely wanted to do his homework. He took the practice test papers out of his schoolbag and started working on them.
The lobby was somewhat noisy, but Wen Yu was the kind of person who could easily immerse himself in his own world. Whenever he wanted to accomplish something, he could maintain absolute focus.
“The Omega downstairs really isn’t your wife?” Song Chengfeng opened the surveillance software on his phone and saw an Omega working on test papers in the first-floor lobby. The Omega was keeping his head down, so only a round head of hair was visible. Although his face couldn’t be seen, based on his figure and what Fu Chen had told him about this Omega scheming against him, it was very likely that this Omega possessed an alluring and glamorous face.
Song Chengfeng was quite curious about what Fu Chen’s legendary destined match looked like.
However, seeing the displeasure on Fu Chen’s face just at the mention of the Omega’s name, he decided to drop the subject for now.
Yet Song Chengfeng didn’t expect that half an hour later, he would actually run into this curious Omega of his.
Midway through the birthday party, nobody expected that an Omega would suddenly go into heat. To make matters worse, Fu Chen happened to pass right by this Omega, and was stimulated by the Omega’s pheromones, triggering his condition. The pheromones began rampaging wildly inside his body.
Song Chengfeng and Ji Chen rushed Fu Chen up to the top-floor suite and had someone call up the Omega who had been doing homework in the first-floor lobby.
Wen Yu’s actual appearance was a far cry from the wicked, alluring image Song Chengfeng had imagined for the Omega.
Wen Yu possessed a refined and handsome appearance with an upright posture. In his eyes, there was no greed or ambition; instead, they looked like a pool of cold spring water, chilly, clear, and pure.
They said appearance reflects the heart. The Omega before them looked ethereal with an otherworldly disposition; he did not look like a person who would resort to unscrupulous means.
Song Chengfeng could only sigh that you truly cannot judge a book by its cover.
Such a pretty face, yet such a vicious heart.
“Took you long enough to get here. Whose airs are you putting on?” Fu Chen curled up on the large bed in the room, rebuking with a painful expression.
How long could an elevator ride from the first floor to the top floor possibly take? Fu Chen had been waiting here for a good ten minutes.
However, Fu Chen overlooked the fact that because of the Omega’s sudden heat, many Alphas and other Omegas had hurried downstairs. With only two elevators in total, they naturally weren’t enough.
Wen Yu didn’t offer any excessive explanations. Smelling the heavy Wolong tea scent filling the room and hearing Fu Chen’s fitness tracker buzzing incessantly, he understood what Fu Chen had called him here to do.
His condition had flared up again, and he was needed as his special-remedy antidote.
Wen Yu walked over to the bedside. Fu Chen was drenched in sweat, tortured by the chaotic pheromones. As Wen Yu began to release his pheromones, Fu Chen’s tightly furrowed brows relaxed just a fraction.
“Come closer,” Fu Chen said. The pheromones Wen Yu was releasing were completely insufficient for him; he wanted more, much more.
Cooperating, Wen Yu sat down directly on the edge of the bed. Fu Chen instinctively leaned closer to him, his body, burning with fiery agony, craving the cool spring water to soothe the blazing pain all over.
The scent of ylang-ylang was like an addictive poison, and Fu Chen sank deep into this fragrance. He bit down viciously on the back of Wen Yu’s neck, and the scorching pain inside his body gradually subsided bit by bit.
When the skin at the nape of his neck was punctured by the Alpha’s canine teeth, Wen Yu trembled from the pain. A thin layer of sweat broke out on his forehead, and his lips turned pale.
He had recently been taking the doctor-prescribed medication to promote gland fusion, but every time after releasing a large amount of pheromones, he still felt limp and weak all over.
Now, being bitten with such ferocity by Fu Chen, Wen Yu lost all his remaining strength.
When Fu Chen finally let go of the back of his neck with a sense of full satisfaction, Wen Yu tried to stand up and leave, but the moment he rose to his feet, he tilted backward and fell into a patch of warm softness.
Song Chengfeng and Ji Chen had been waiting outside for quite a while. Figuring that no matter what, after all this time, he should be stabilized by now, Song Chengfeng tentatively called out Fu Chen’s name, but received no response.
Song Chengfeng exchanged a glance with Ji Chen and pushed the door open.
The room was unusually quiet, and two people were lying on the bed.
The Omega had collapsed into the Alpha’s arms, and both of them were covered in sweat.
“Does this look like they just finished what they were doing?” Song Chengfeng said to Ji Chen.
Ji Chen remained silent for a moment, then nodded. “It really does look like it.” That was the aftermath.
