In this Second Chance at Life, where I can see skills as clear as day, everything feels like a breeze. And to make it even better, I’m spending my days joyfully with my First Love. - Chapter 62
Perhaps it was due to the effects of the skills etched into my memory through Iterative Trials, or maybe it was a result of my evolution into a Human-Demon.
Whatever the case, my stamina didn’t falter, even after going all night. One box of condoms wasn’t enough, and yet, the next morning, I wasn’t tired or sleep-deprived in the slightest.
They say working out increases libido, and squats are supposed to “energize” a man, but was this some kind of extreme version of that?
As a result, by morning, the happiness of my first time with Ichika, coupled with the perfect way to expend all that energy, left me feeling calm and refreshed.
At that moment, I felt ten times more composed and clear-headed than usual.
Ichika and I showered together, enjoying some playful intimacy, and by noon, we were still in the dungeon. Fortunately, no one commented with the cliché, “Had fun last night, huh?”
Well, considering we were deep in the dungeon, no one could have heard anything. Before attending the vocational school, I had spent most of my time holed up in this dungeon anyway.
With my mind sharper than ever and in peak condition (mentally, at least), I accompanied Ichika to give Koumei my answer to his proposition from the day before: “Why don’t you create your own nation?”
“So—”
“To cut to the chase, I think creating a nation sounds interesting. But I’m not going to destroy America and take it over.”
Koumei looked both surprised and intrigued by my response.
If Ichika weren’t here, I might have destroyed America without hesitation.
But yesterday, Ichika called me “kind.”
I’m a hypocrite. Fundamentally, I don’t care about other people. If someone I don’t know is suffering, as long as it doesn’t affect me, I ignore it.
But even so, I’m the kind of guy who wants to play the role of a “good person” in front of the woman I love.
I want Ichika to see me as a good person. So, I thought of a way to create a nation without hurting anyone.
“But what about the land?” Koumei asked.
“Simple. We’ll just create it,” I replied with a mischievous grin, glancing at Ichika.
“Exactly. First, I’ll use my earth magic to build land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Something about the size of Australia should do,” Ichika said with a smile.
“Then I’ll compress it with magical pressure to make it sturdier, and we’ll repeat the process.”
“After that, I’ll use my plant magic to grow vegetation.”
“As for animals, dungeon monsters will do. Resources can also come from the dungeon—I have one, after all. I could even move some of the larger dungeons elsewhere,” I added.
If necessary, I could generate magical stones or items endlessly, depending on my mana.
We could place the entire continent under the domain of Kanahebi’s dungeon for perfect defense. Realistically, we didn’t need that much land—probably just enough to build a single house.
Still, it would be better to create a self-sustaining ecosystem, minimizing reliance on imports. If we could export goods, it would also reduce the risk of countries attacking us.
As for manpower, we could use intelligent monsters as familiars. That should solve most of the logistical issues.
While I explained the plan, Koumei stared at me, wide-eyed.
“I knew you had extraordinary power, Sashima-kun, but… to think you could create a continent—it’s almost like the birth of heaven and earth itself.”
“Well, I doubt I can trigger a Big Bang just yet,” I replied casually.
“Let’s hope you never can!”
“Anyway, land shouldn’t be a problem. As for the sea, we’ll just… persuade it to stay quiet.”
Sure, I was aware that artificial islands or reclaimed land might face opposition, but we could frame it as, “A new dungeon continent has appeared!” If anyone still objected, we could use a more persuasive approach.
As for sovereignty, since it’s a kingdom, I’d technically be the ruler—but in reality, it would be me and Ichika, since I couldn’t go against her wishes.
“What about citizens?” Koumei asked. “For now, it’d be Ichika and my family,” I replied.
“That’s something I wanted to discuss. If you create a nation, could you also accept people like those from The Stars of Adoration? People with powerful occupations or rare skills?
“Right now, there’s already a growing movement around the world to ostracize individuals with abilities like ours—and Sashima-kun, your incident has only fueled that movement further.”
“Ah, I see…”
I had noticed that trend.
Given how aggressively they’ve targeted me, it’s no surprise that other skilled individuals, especially those with dangerous occupations, were also facing hostility.
Half of this mess is probably my fault…
“Well, we’ll have plenty of land to spare, so that’s fine. But I’m not great at managing things, so you’ll have to handle the organization, Koumei.”
“Of course, leave it to me,” Koumei replied with a smile.
From the moment he suggested this plan, I had a feeling that was his intention all along.
Now that I could borrow a bit of Foresight, I was starting to see things more clearly. From what I could tell, Koumei would remain a trusted friend, someone who would stick by me no matter what.
In many ways, I knew I could rely on him—even if he had some ulterior motives.
Once we had made our decision, things progressed surprisingly quickly.
Since evolving into Human-Demons, Ichika and I had significantly more mana at our disposal. It took only half a day to lay the foundation for an entire continent.
If we had made it all flat plains, it would’ve taken just a minute. But we took our time creating mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, underground reservoirs, and even glaciers. Before we knew it, the hours had flown by.
The effort paid off, though. The resulting pressure and geological effects meant that even though the continent was artificial, it could potentially yield iron ore, gemstones, and other natural resources.
Next, we placed the entire continent under the domain of a dungeon.
By doing so, we ensured absolute control. Monsters could spawn anywhere, and as long as anyone remained on the continent, I could summon creatures at will. I might not be a god, but as the Dungeon Master, this land was as advantageous to me as the sea is to Poseidon or the divine realm is to the Supreme God.
Furthermore, because of the dungeon’s influence—and my deliberate interference—the plants growing on the continent were far from ordinary. The trees bore fruits that enhanced physical strength, agility, magic power, or stamina. Some plants even radiated healing energy, restoring health and mana to those nearby. Nearly all the grass was composed of medicinal herbs that could be used in alchemy.
Normal plants simply didn’t exist here.
Ichika’s plant magic was incredible.
We also used magic and dungeon resources to lightly establish infrastructure, ensuring access to electricity and water. On top of that, we quickly built around 1,000 basic homes and constructed a house for Ichika and me at the heart of Kanahebi Dungeon.
I also built houses for my parents and Ichika’s parents, but they politely declined to move in.
They didn’t want to leave the lands they had lived on for so long, saying, “Just a little financial help until we find new work will be more than enough.”
While I would’ve felt more at ease if they lived with us, I equipped them with Hermes Pigeons for communication and assigned some of my 1,500 mechanical soldiers as their personal guards. It wasn’t ideal, but it should keep them safe.
Still, I couldn’t help but worry.
At least my grandparents decided to join us.
Apparently, they were excited about the prospect of seeing their great-grandchildren in the near future.
…Wait, does that mean they already know what Ichika and I did?
In any case, I relocated their house from Niigata to the heart of the dungeon, right next to ours. My grandparents told my parents to come here if things ever got dangerous.
Meanwhile, immigrants—including members of The Stars of Adoration—were steadily arriving on the northern part of the continent. Despite my concerns about running out of buildings, it turned out several of the newcomers had construction-related professions, so they quickly began expanding the settlement.
As for food, Ichika used her time and plant magic to establish a sustainable agricultural base. From there, the settlers began to cultivate the land and create a self-sufficient lifestyle.
To help them grow stronger quickly, I set up spawning zones for Golden Fairy Papillons throughout the continent.
…Speaking of which, I wonder—was it the Supreme God’s doing that neither Ichika nor I gain levels anymore from defeating Golden Fairy Papillons?
Either way, the northern part of the continent continued to develop on its own, with Koumei overseeing the process.
As for Ichika and me, we spent our days indulging in each other, completely immersed in our affection.
Like a pair of lovestruck monkeys discovering something new, we couldn’t stop. Over and over, we gave in to our desires, living in lazy decadence.
