- Imprisoned by Forced Love! The Yandere Disciple Tied My Hands and Told Me to Be Good
- Chapter 19 - Master... Don't Abandon Me...
“The Soul-Devouring Gu… it has taken effect.”
The voice did not belong to Yue Qi, nor did it belong to Mu Chenyuan. Instead, it came from a man who had just entered and was now standing by the window.
The man possessed a face of exquisite beauty, his entire form seemingly flawless. Shimmering gold and silver jewelry accented the tattoos on his bare shoulders as he stood before the window. The only imperfection was a missing arm.
It was Yu Jinyao.
Holding an open jade fan in his single hand, Yu Jinyao leaned against the windowsill and flashed an enigmatic smile at Yue Qi, who was still on the bed.
“You should have realized by now, Yue Qi. The medicine I gave you wasn’t actually medicine; its true nature is a Gu.”
Yue Qi released his grip on his collar, his eyes locking onto Yu Jinyao as he climbed off the bed. Meanwhile, Mu Chenyuan, still gasping for air on the mattress, finally felt that the system hadn’t screwed him over for once.
This time, Yu Jinyao’s timing was truly impeccable! As expected of a love rival!
Go for it, Rival-bro! Charge!
Yue Qi stepped off the bed, his lips curling into a wicked, predatory smirk. “What is it that you wish to obtain from this Seat?”
“Your cultivation, of course.”
Yu Jinyao spoke without the slightest hesitation. “You were unwilling to practice dual cultivation with me, but now that you are afflicted by my Soul-Devouring Gu, it is no longer up to you!”
The moment he finished speaking, Yu Jinyao snapped his jade fan shut with a sharp clack.
Instantly, dark clouds obscured the moon. The room was already dim, and without the infusion of moonlight, it plunged into an even deeper gloom. As the sound of the fan closing echoed, Yue Qi suddenly collapsed to the floor, unable to rise.
Mu Chenyuan had originally intended to just watch the drama unfold. He thought that, like last time, these two would at least trade a few moves. He never expected Yue Qi to go down just like that.
Isn’t he supposed to be incredibly powerful? Isn’t he the ceiling of combat strength? That’s it? That’s all?
Seeing Yue Qi collapse, Yu Jinyao didn’t look overly surprised. He simply cradled his severed arm and slowly approached Yue Qi, the smile on his face growing wider. “It seems the loss of this arm was worthwhile.”
“By the time the Soul-Devouring Gu completely consumes your soul, I will seize every bit of your cultivation.”
Soul-Devouring Gu?
Just as Mu Chenyuan felt a moment of confusion, the system came online to begin its explanation.
The Soul-Devouring Gu is a companion parasite. It usually coexists with a medicinal catalyst; the medicine only takes effect if the Gu and the medicine are ingested together.
“So, because he took that ‘potency-enhancing’ aphrodisiac Yu Jinyao gave him, he ended up with the Soul-Devouring Gu?”
Correct. This Gu forces the victim into an illusion, making them repeatedly relive their most painful memories until their spirit breaks and their mind fails. Then, the Gu worm devours the soul.
Mu Chenyuan’s first reaction to this explanation wasn’t joy that he could finally dodge Yue Qi to do his mission. Instead, it was.
“Will he be okay?”
The system replied speechlessly: Dear Host, you were almost forced by him just a moment ago. Shouldn’t you be celebrating that the male protagonist is finally about to kick the bucket?
“He’s going to die? Isn’t he the lead? What about his protagonist armor?”
Mu Chenyuan fired off three questions in one breath.
The system gave a non-answer: Ignore him. Hurry and do your mission. There is only one chance; if you miss this, you won’t get another. The mission will be a total failure.
“Total failure? Then I…”
Correct. You would never be able to go back, and you certainly wouldn’t get your prize money.
Mu Chenyuan stopped overthinking immediately. He tidied his clothes, which had been ruffled by Yue Qi, and scrambled off the bed.
Seeing Mu Chenyuan about to leave without looking back, Yu Jinyao called out to him: “Hey.”
Mu Chenyuan, who was nearly at the door, stopped and looked back at Yu Jinyao. “What is it?”
“Do you really not care about your disciple at all? He’s about to die.”
Mu Chenyuan actually hesitated for a split second. He glanced at Yue Qi, who lay motionless on the floor. “How do you know I am his Master?”
“Heh.” Yu Jinyao let out a cold laugh. “I am at the Integration Stage, after all. A mere illusion technique is nothing to me.”
“Furthermore, he wouldn’t act this way toward anyone except his Master. I was born with ‘Charming Bones’; I can enchant every man in the world, yet I could never enchant him.”
Mu Chenyuan thought for a moment. “Is it possible it’s because he lost his heart?”
“Perhaps.”
Yu Jinyao gave an affirmative answer but followed it with a contemptuous smile. “As expected, you are quite cold-hearted.”
“Fine. He could still love you this much despite having no heart. I was originally a bit jealous, but seeing how wretchedly he loves you, it’s better to just let him be free.”
Yu Jinyao waved his jade fan lightly, drawing a sinister black talisman in the air. The talisman flew toward Yue Qi, landing on him and sinking rapidly into his body.
As the talisman merged with him, Yue Qi suddenly clutched his chest where his heart should be and began to gasp in agonizing pain. He began to murmur incessantly: “Master… Master…”
“Don’t… don’t abandon me…”
Beads of sweat rolled off his forehead, drenching his paper-white face. It flowed down his neck, soaking his collar. Mu Chenyuan could see that Yue Qi’s body was trembling violently.
It was as if he were being dragged by an invisible, powerful force, sinking bit by bit into a massive, bottomless abyss. For every inch he sank, the heart-wrenching pain multiplied several times over.
Mu Chenyuan had intended to turn and leave. But his feet wouldn’t obey him. His gaze remained fixed on Yue Qi’s sweat-drenched face.
However, the system’s words kept echoing in his ears.
You were almost forced by him.. Ignore him, go do your mission… If you miss this, you won’t get another chance. The mission will be a total failure…
Besides, even if he stayed, he couldn’t save Yue Qi, could he?
Mu Chenyuan!
He’s just a 2D character! Even if he wasn’t, do you have Stockholm Syndrome? You like being treated like that?!
Mu Chenyuan roared at himself internally. He finally made up his mind and turned to leave without a shred of hesitation. Even though, behind him, he could still clearly hear Yue Qi calling out with every ounce of his fragile strength—
“Master… don’t abandon me…”
“I beg you… don’t leave me…”
By the end, his voice was thick with the sound of sobbing.
