I'm a Professional at Being a Scumbag [Quick Wear] - Chapter 5
Le Yi’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to the marks on Chu Qiao’s body.
The exposed neck and chest, not covered by her pajamas, were crisscrossed with red and purple hickeys, stark against her pale skin.
Le Yi’s mouth felt dry.
Just how depraved was I last night?!
Her mind automatically replayed the scenes, and she quickly averted her eyes.
Though the System had played a part, she was ultimately the one who had crossed the line. She had repeatedly warned Chu Qiao not to cross that boundary, yet she herself had plucked the forbidden fruit first.
Le Yi let out a silent, bitter laugh.
Chu Qiao watched her movements, the warmth in her eyes gradually cooling.
Sister is really angry.
Is she blaming me?
“Sister…”
Le Yi cleared her throat, cutting her off. “Let’s have breakfast.”
Chu Qiao pressed her lips together, replying with a soft “Okay,” and obediently followed her to the dining room.
Seated at the table, they ate in silence, neither mentioning the previous night as if it had been nothing more than a fleeting dream.
Yet both knew deep down that their relationship could never return to what it had been.
After finishing, Le Yi silently cleared the dishes and went to the kitchen. Chu Qiao followed her in and wrapped her arms around Le Yi from behind as she bent over the sink to wash the dishes.
“Sister, are you angry with me?”
Le Yi paused, her hands freezing mid-motion as she heard Chu Qiao’s cautious tone.
This silly girl.
No matter how you looked at it, Chu Qiao was the one who had been taken advantage of. Yet here she was, worrying about Le Yi’s feelings.
“No, I’m just…”
I can’t quite get over this yet.
Le Yi’s emotions were a tangled mess. She had raised this “good cabbage” herself, only to “root it up” herself. Waking up that morning to find Chu Qiao’s face nestled in her arms had struck her like a bolt of lightning, causing her brain to freeze for a full five minutes.
When her mind finally cleared, the realization that she was the “pig” who had rooted up her own good cabbage hit her even harder. Unable to accept it, she had gone downstairs to stand in the wind for over half an hour, barely managing to come to terms with the truth.
She had spent the entire morning mentally preparing herself, but the moment she saw Chu Qiao, her resolve crumbled.
Chu Qiao didn’t blame her, acting as quiet and obedient as a little white rabbit. Seeing those innocent eyes filled Le Yi with guilt.
The thought of having to hurt Chu Qiao at some point in the future only made her feel worse.
How could I bear to hurt this child I’ve raised for so long?
Chu Qiao knew Le Yi didn’t love her. If she hadn’t repeatedly seduced her yesterday, Le Yi would never have slept with her.
Seeing Le Yi’s reaction now, Chu Qiao naturally blamed herself for everything.
“Sister, don’t be disappointed in me. I won’t hold you responsible. Can we still be friends like before?”
Seeing Chu Qiao so humbled, Le Yi felt even more conflicted. She turned to face her.
“Qiaoqiao, don’t be like this.”
Chu Qiao shook her head, tears quickly welling up in her eyes.
You have no idea how much I love you. I don’t want to be like this either, but I can’t help it.
I’d do anything to stay by your side.
“Sister, can we still be as close as before?”
Le Yi opened her mouth to answer, but Chu Qiao suddenly leaned in and kissed her.
Though the answer was obvious, Chu Qiao was still afraid. What if her sister was angry about last night and didn’t want her anymore?
No, I can’t let anyone else come near her.
Sister is mine, and mine alone.
Chu Qiao’s mind raced, her thoughts a jumbled mess. Without realizing it, she kissed Le Yi with fierce intensity, biting her lip hard enough to draw blood. A metallic tang filled their mouths.
Le Yi pushed Chu Qiao away, wiping the blood from her lips with a finger, her expression hardening.
“You’re still drunk. Go get some rest.”
Only then did Chu Qiao realize she had hurt Le Yi. She grabbed her hand, pleading, “I’m sorry, Sister! I didn’t mean to. I’m sober now. Please, let me stay with you. Don’t send me away.”
Le Yi turned back to washing the dishes in the sink.
“We both need to calm down.”
Chu Qiao stared at her back, imagining the coldness in her eyes. For a moment, she felt utterly lost.
“I don’t need to calm down. As long as Sister isn’t angry with me, I can pretend last night never happened.”
The more humble Chu Qiao’s attitude became, the more guilty Le Yi felt, even growing irritated.
She placed the washed dishes on the stove with deliberate gentleness. “You don’t need it, but I do. My head’s a mess. Can you leave me alone for a while?”
Chu Qiao seemed startled, her eyes brimming with tears. After a long pause, she said, “I’ll leave right away. Don’t be angry.”
As she turned away, a tear slipped from the corner of her eye, and Le Yi’s heart sank.
If she remembered correctly, Chu Qiao was supposed to have the “Great Female Lead” script—a character who would later dominate heaven, earth, and everything in between, ruling supreme in this world.
But looking at her now, with her soft, yielding nature, she seemed nothing like the domineering protagonist Le Yi had envisioned.
Could she have been raised wrong?
The thought of all her years of effort going to waste made Le Yi’s heart ache even more.
I need to find a way to correct this. Otherwise, when will I ever complete this mission?
Remembering the mission reward, Le Yi felt a flicker of hope.
What’s sisterly affection compared to money?
You can’t let your conscience stop you from getting paid, right?
Still, the method for correcting Chu Qiao required careful consideration. If necessary, Le Yi would have to give her a forceful push.
Though she didn’t want to be a scummy gong, she had to play the part for the sake of her mission.
Chu Qiao returned to her room, tears streaming down her face. The moment the door closed, her expression shifted.
Sister clearly doesn’t want me anymore.
Even after I’ve humbled myself so much, why won’t she show me a shred of affection?
Is it really so hard to give me just a little love?
Her phoenix eyes burned with a deep, dark intensity, as if flames were raging within them. Yet upon closer inspection, there was nothing there at all.
The emotion flickered and vanished, leaving teardrops clinging to her long, thick lashes like a dog abandoned by its owner.
Sister, you took me in, so you have to be responsible for me. You can’t just throw me away.
Chu Qiao turned to the mirror, her eyes drooping slightly at the corners, her gaze innocent and pitiful—a look that would melt anyone’s heart.
This is it. Sister won’t be able to resist this.
It doesn’t matter that she doesn’t love me now. As long as she grows to like me a little more each day, day after day, eventually familial affection will transform into romantic love.
I was born to love Sister, and she was always meant to be mine.
It was all destined from the day she took me in.
The phone rang. Chu Qiao expressionlessly wiped the tears from her cheeks and pressed the answer button.
“They seem very interested in our project, but their offer is quite low,” a female voice said through the receiver.
Chu Qiao curled her lips, her eyes icy. “Then let’s raise the price tenfold and stir this pool completely. What’s the point of playing small?”
A few seconds of silence hung in the air before the other party agreed.
Chu Qiao hung up and gazed out the window. The sky was a pristine, washed-out blue, but dark clouds were already gathering on the horizon.
Li Xiaomei, enjoy the grand gift I’m sending your way.
Le Yi sat on the sofa all morning, as still as an old monk in meditation. Her mind churned with chaotic thoughts, unable to devise a good plan.
At noon, Zhu Qiong called, asking her to come to Xicheng Hotel. The director of the film they had discussed earlier wanted to meet her.
Le Yi’s mind instantly cleared. She dressed and put on makeup in just half an hour before hurrying to the hotel in her beat-up old car.
Director Xu Jianchuan was an internationally acclaimed filmmaker, a heavyweight in the industry. Though his reputation had suffered from a few recent flops, his status remained unshakeable.
For his upcoming fantasy film, he had bypassed his usual cast and instead launched an online voting campaign, allowing netizens to choose the leads.
Le Yi hadn’t initially been on the ballot, but after a surge of fan support, she was added. However, lacking significant star power, her votes lagged far behind the frontrunners.
Over the years, Zhu Qiong had starred in several blockbuster Lunar New Year films, solidifying her status as a top-tier actress. She had repeatedly recommended Le Yi to Xu Jianchuan, which finally convinced him to meet Le Yi in person.
The private room held Zhu Qiong, the male lead, the assistant director, and two screenwriters. Le Yi entered, greeting everyone with a humble yet confident demeanor.
Xu Jianchuan was impressed. After reviewing her portfolio, he asked, “Miss Le, would you mind doing a screen test on the spot?”
Le Yi had assumed this was just a casual dinner, but she wasn’t intimidated. She had complete faith in her acting skills.
“Not at all. Are there any specific lines or scenarios you’d like me to perform?”
Xu Jianchuan outlined the requirements, then instructed the male lead to help Le Yi rehearse.
Le Yi’s character was the male lead’s childhood friend, but she was secretly an agent from a rival faction, completely opposed to him. Her entire life had been a long-term infiltration, aimed at stealing the Immortal Bone embedded within him.
Yes, the male lead was the Son of Destiny, possessing the Immortal Bone—a relic that could instantly grant immortality to whoever obtained it.
The scene required intense emotional range: the moment the male lead discovers his childhood friend’s true identity, leading to a bitter confrontation and irreversible betrayal.
Le Yi’s performance built layer by layer, her emotional intensity gripping the entire room. By the end of the scene, everyone was holding their breath.
After a long pause, Xu Jianchuan finally exclaimed, “Excellent! Absolutely excellent!”
The decision to cast Le Yi was made immediately.
After the dinner, Zhu Qiong offered to drive Le Yi home. But the thought of facing Chu Qiao again gave Le Yi a headache.
“I don’t want to go back yet,” Le Yi said. “Let’s grab a drink. My treat.”
Zhu Qiong smiled. “I’ll treat this time. Congratulations on landing the role.”
Le Yi couldn’t refuse. A fool turns down a free drink.
At the bar, Le Yi downed three shots in quick succession, leaving Zhu Qiong stunned.
“Something bothering you?” Zhu Qiong asked.
Le Yi glanced at her, unsure how to explain. If she told Zhu Qiong about what had happened with Chu Qiao, she’d definitely call the police.
“Ugh, it’s just… too much.”
The mission in this world was too difficult. There’s no such thing as a high-paying job with easy work, after all.
Zhu Qiong’s gaze shifted as she watched Le Yi. She pressed her hand over Le Yi’s glass.
“Slow down. I won’t take care of you if you get drunk.”
Le Yi tilted her head and grinned. “Worry about yourself. I can handle my liquor.”
Zhu Qiong’s heart skipped a beat at Le Yi’s tilted head and smile. She looked away, pretending to take a sip of her drink.
Oblivious, Le Yi downed another shot.
Chu Qiao had gone out that afternoon. When she returned and found Le Yi still missing, she tried calling, but Le Yi didn’t answer. She grew worried.
Chu Qiao knew Le Yi was trying to avoid her, but she couldn’t let that happen.
That evening, someone sent her a photo, asking if the beautiful woman in it was her sister.
Chu Qiao immediately spotted Le Yi’s radiant smile. She was smiling so warmly at Zhu Qiong, yet wouldn’t even spare Chu Qiao a glance.
After getting the location, Chu Qiao rushed over immediately.
Le Yi was getting tipsy, her eyes starting to glaze over.
Zhu Qiong waved her hand in front of Le Yi’s face, but Le Yi grabbed it, asking, “What are you doing?”
“Just checking if you’re drunk,” Zhu Qiong replied.
Le Yi pressed Zhu Qiong’s cold hand against her flushed cheek and chuckled. “As if! I’m practically the God of Wine.”
Zhu Qiong: “Right, right, you’re the God of Wine.”
Le Yi puffed up proudly. “Exactly!”
Just then, the light in front of them was blocked.
Le Yi squinted against the glare, unable to make out the newcomer’s face. “Did your sister come already?” she mumbled.
Zhu Qiong stared at Chu Qiao, who radiated an icy aura, and hesitated to speak.
Chu Qiao leaned down, her face close to Le Yi’s. “Sister found another sister?”
Le Yi recognized the voice as familiar, but her mind hadn’t quite caught up.
“Aren’t you my sister? Come, have a drink with me.”
With that, she handed a glass of wine to Chu Qiao. Chu Qiao glanced at it, downed it in one gulp, and without another word, steered Le Yi toward the exit.
Le Yi protested, but the bar’s music suddenly blared louder, drowning out her voice.
The cold wind sobered Le Yi up considerably. When she finally recognized the person in front of her, she gasped in surprise.
“Qiaoqiao, what are you doing here?”
Chu Qiao said nothing, staring at her for a long moment before suddenly pouting.
“Sister left me home alone. Does she not want me anymore?”
Seeing Chu Qiao’s dejected expression, Le Yi quickly reassured her, “Of course not! Don’t be silly.”
Chu Qiao took her hand. “Then let’s go home?”
Le Yi nodded, and they stumbled home together.
The moment they stepped inside, Chu Qiao pinned Le Yi against the door and began kissing her passionately.
“Does Sister like Zhu Qiong?”
Le Yi, panting heavily, replied, “We’re just friends.”
Chu Qiao nuzzled her neck, gently sucking and nipping. “Then why were you smiling at her like that?”
Before Le Yi could answer, she felt a hand creeping toward her most secret place.
Startled, Le Yi realized she couldn’t let her “scumbag gong” persona crumble. She quickly snapped, “Stop it!”
Chu Qiao, looking utterly wronged, pressed herself against Le Yi’s lips.
“Sister, it wants you.”
