I Won Big with the President Who Looks Like Me - Chapter 6
The Real Yun Yue’an
Jiang Ruosui had always been a man of strong principles.
He had come to find Yun Yue’an for two reasons: to reclaim his original memories and to learn the truth from him, specifically to determine who was primarily responsible for their divorce.
If he himself was the main culprit, he would do his best to compensate Yun Yue’an. But if Yun Yue’an bore the primary responsibility, Jiang Ruosui felt no need to carry any psychological burden when facing him.
So, when he heard Yun Yue’an admit that his own mistakes had caused their marriage to collapse, Jiang Ruosui immediately felt the moral weight lift from his shoulders.
Since he owed Yun Yue’an nothing, he naturally felt no responsibility for his mental illness, even hearing that Yun Yue’an might have attempted suicide multiple times failed to stir any emotional response in him.
Watching Jiang Ruosui’s retreating figure, Jian Yan couldn’t stop replaying the look in his eyes and the tone of his voice when he spoke. A mix of anger and guilt churned in his chest. After a long moment, he sighed heavily and dejectedly pushed open the door to the hospital room.
Yun Yue’an was still asleep, but his expression was troubled. His delicate eyebrows were furrowed, and the fingertips resting on his chest were twisted together, scratching several red marks into his skin as he thrashed in a nightmare.
“Ancestors, what are we going to do now?”
“The publishers are hounding us again… And the foundation needs funding too…”
Jian Yan slumped onto the chair beside Yun Yue’an’s hospital bed, pressing his palm against his forehead. He looked utterly dejected, and after a moment, he sighed deeply and sank into a state of self-absorption.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ruosui remained far more composed than the frantic Jian Yan.
With no need to go to the company and nothing else to do, he went to the gym for a workout. Afterward, he went to wash his hair and shower, his forehead still damp with sweat.
Though the family hadn’t officially split, Jiang Linwu owned property near the company for convenience. He rarely returned, and Father and Mother Jiang were often out on business. Since Jiang Ruosui couldn’t wait for anyone to come back, he ate a quick meal alone before heading upstairs.
He never used his phone while eating, so it wasn’t until he returned to his room, closed the door, and pulled out his phone that he noticed Yun Yue’an had called.
He hadn’t even realized.
Leaning against the doorframe, Jiang Ruosui frowned and scrolled through his phone. Seeing the long list of call logs and text messages, he couldn’t help but feel exasperated.
Why is he calling so much? Does he want to tell me the Earth’s going to be destroyed tomorrow?
Too lazy to count how many times Yun Yue’an had called, Jiang Ruosui simply dialed him back.
The call was answered within three seconds, as if someone had been waiting by the phone specifically to pick up.
After a brief crackle of static, Yun Yue’an’s timid voice came through:
“Husband.”
Jiang Ruosui sat at his desk, put on his blue-light-blocking glasses, and casually opened his laptop. “What do you want? Is there something wrong?”
Rustling sounds came from the other end of the line. After a long pause, Yun Yue’an’s voice dropped even lower, becoming barely audible:
“I… I miss my husband.”
Jiang Ruosui: “……”
His hand froze mid-air above the mouse. After a moment, he casually continued, “Then why did you have to call so many times?”
Yun Yue’an whispered, “I’ve already restrained myself.”
Jiang Ruosui raised an eyebrow while browsing the news. “Doesn’t look like it.”
Yun Yue’an remained silent.
Since he didn’t speak, Jiang Ruosui didn’t initiate another topic. For a moment, the only sounds in the quiet room were each other’s soft breathing and the occasional crisp click of a mouse, each sound amplified in the silence.
Jiang Ruosui waited for a while, but Yun Yue’an didn’t say anything else. After a few seconds, he realized that Yun Yue’an’s “I miss you” might not have been a polite preamble to getting down to business, but rather his true purpose.
Jiang Ruosui: “……”
He checked his phone to make sure the call hadn’t been disconnected, then tossed it onto the desk.
“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
“Don’t… Honey!” Yun Yue’an’s panicked voice came from the other end of the line. “You, you can’t hang up!”
“Why call if there’s nothing important? Got too much money to spend on phone bills?” Jiang Ruosui asked.
Yun Yue’an: “I just wanted to hear your voice.”
“Stop being so clingy,” Jiang Ruosui said.
Yun Yue’an fell silent for a few seconds before quietly agreeing, “Alright.”
“I’m hanging up now,” Jiang Ruosui said without further ado, ending the call.
For the next hour, Jiang Ruosui browsed the web while keeping an eye on his phone. As expected, Yun Yue’an didn’t send any more messages or call again.
…He’s actually quite obedient.
If Jiang Ruosui had previously believed that some mental patients were unpredictable and dangerous, constantly teetering on the edge of losing control, his close interaction with Yun Yue’an had revealed otherwise. He found Yun Yue’an to be surprisingly well-behaved—
At least he was very obedient to him.
Still, Jiang Ruosui felt no particular attachment to Yun Yue’an. After confirming that the reason for their marriage’s collapse wasn’t his fault, he felt a significant weight lift from his shoulders.
Later that day, at dinner, he announced to his family that he wanted to return to Jianghe Group.
He didn’t explicitly say he wanted to resume his position, but given his status, any role he took would inevitably be high-ranking.
Father Jiang and Mother Jiang likely hadn’t expected Jiang Ruosui to want to return to work so soon. After a moment’s hesitation, they said,
“Do you really need to go back so soon, dear?”
Mother Jiang looked worried. “You’ve only been awake for six months…”
“I feel my body has recovered enough,” Jiang Ruosui said, wiping his mouth and setting down the napkin. He continued seriously,
“I want to return to Jianghe.”
The table fell silent.
No one, not even Father Jiang and Mother Jiang, had anticipated Jiang Ruosui would make such a request while fully conscious.
Under the pressure of family interests, they had been forced to agree to Jiang Linwu’s temporary replacement of Jiang Ruosui. But now that Jiang Ruosui was back and wanted to resume his position, Jiang Linwu would inevitably have to step down.
As the saying goes, it’s easier to invite a god than to send one away. How could Jiang Linwu willingly relinquish the CEO position he had so firmly secured?
Jiang Ruosui was well aware of this.
He had deliberately made this formal request at the dinner table, knowing that Jiang Linwu would never agree to his return.
He planned to start by proposing something completely impossible, and after Jiang Linwu refused, he would smoothly ask for startup capital.
Compared to the first request, giving Jiang Ruosui startup funds would seem more reasonable.
If he had asked for the startup capital upfront, Jiang Linwu might have refused, which is why Jiang Ruosui chose this indirect approach.
With this in mind, Jiang Ruosui looked up again, smiling at Jiang Linwu, and said leisurely, “Second Uncle?”
Jiang Linwu paused mid-meal, and after a moment, looked up at Jiang Ruosui. He had clearly been lost in thought, and Jiang Ruosui’s call slowly brought him back to the present.
Jiang Ruosui asked, “What do you think?”
“I don’t have any thoughts,” Jiang Linwu replied, surprisingly calm, as if he had anticipated Jiang Ruosui’s intentions. “If you want to return to Jianghe, I agree.”
Now it was Jiang Ruosui’s turn to be stunned. “You agree?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yes,” Jiang Linwu nodded. “Allowing you to return is a matter of strategic interest. But the condition I’m about to propose comes from a senior’s concern for his junior.”
Jiang Ruosui thought, I knew it wouldn’t be that easy, but he still smiled and asked, “What are your conditions?”
“If you want your position back, you must stop seeing Yun Yue’an,” Jiang Linwu replied.
Jiang Ruosui raised an eyebrow. “Who I see is my personal right, isn’t it?”
“I control enough shares to decide whether you remain CEO of Jianghe Group. I hope you’ll consider this carefully,” Jiang Linwu said. “To gain something, you must lose something. You know that, don’t you?”
Jiang Ruosui leaned back, his back against the chair, and fell into deep thought.
Jiang Linwu wasn’t in a hurry. He calmly ate his meal, picking at his food.
Time ticked by, marked by the crisp ticking of the quartz clock on the clean wall.
Silence hung in the air.
After a long pause, Jiang Ruosui finally spoke: “Second Uncle, I’ve always been curious about something.”
He leaned forward, meeting Jiang Linwu’s gaze across the table. “Why do you, Father, and Mother so strongly oppose my seeing Yun Yue’an?”
“Because he’s mentally ill,” Jiang Linwu replied, looking up at him. “Isn’t that reason enough?”
“It’s not enough,” Jiang Ruosui shook his head. “There are countless mentally ill people in the world. Second Uncle, you can’t guarantee I’ll never meet anyone like Yun Yue’an. Why are you treating this one person like such an enemy?”
Jiang Linwu shook his head. “Digging deeper won’t do you any good.”
“Who I see and who I don’t see. I only trust my own judgment,” Jiang Ruosui said. “Second Uncle, whether you genuinely want me to return to my position or are just using this as an excuse to keep me away, I won’t agree to this condition.”
Jiang Linwu asked, “For Yun Yue’an? Do you like him that much?”
“No, it has nothing to do with Yun Yue’an,” Jiang Ruosui replied. “This is for myself.”
Jiang Linwu remained silent, simply glancing at Jiang Ruosui before lowering his eyes.
After waiting for a moment without a response, Jiang Ruosui smirked knowingly. He pushed himself up from the table, bracing his fingertips on the surface.
“Excuse me.”
As he turned to leave, he hadn’t taken more than a few steps when a man’s voice called out from behind, stopping him in his tracks:
“What if I told you… that not seeing Yun Yue’an was your own choice? Would you believe me?”
Jiang Ruosui’s face clearly showed surprise.
But the emotion only lingered for a few seconds before vanishing as quickly as a dragonfly’s touch.
When Jiang Ruosui turned around, his face had already regained its composure, like a still well:
“What do you mean?”
Seeing Jiang Ruosui’s persistence, Jiang Linwu decided not to hide it any longer.
He stood up, approached Jiang Ruosui, and met his gaze.
After a moment, he looked away:
“Come with me.”
He added, “If you want to understand the real Yun Yue’an.”
