I Wasn't Trying to Seduce with the Male Lead - Episode 44
Eleanor pouted, but Blaine continued to scold her.
“Assassins are waiting outside to ‘do a sword dance’ on you! Going out in this state is like a plump, ripe tuna gracefully swimming into a shark-infested area.”
“This is a great chance to get closer to the Duchess! Count Calabria said he’d create a safe situation. Am I just supposed to hide and watch?”
“Does that mean you’ll accept Rian’s feelings?” Blaine asked, surprised.
“I don’t know,” Eleanor replied haughtily. “But I’ll decide based on my own feelings, not because someone is forcing me.”
Blaine seemed speechless. He sighed deeply, leaning his arms on the railing beside her.
“Ugh, if only you couldn’t talk. I really want to tie you up somewhere.”
“Wanting to tie up a lady? Are you a pervert?”
“Whoa, if tying people up is perverted, then you’re the pervert, obviously.”
Eleanor furrowed her brow. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’ve already heard everything. About how you captured the empire’s most handsome men.”
When Blaine brought up the incident of her ‘tying up’ Lian and Sky, Eleanor jumped back, flustered.
“Hey, who told you something like that?”
“Why? Isn’t it true?”
“It’s…!” She wanted to deny it, but she couldn’t bring herself to lie. “It is, but…”
When she admitted it, Blaine put a hand to his forehead. “No way, it’s actually true. Ugh. How good are your skills, really?”
“…Don’t get curious. I’m never going to tie up a viscount.”
“You only tie up handsome men? That’s some serious discrimination!”
“Don’t go spreading those weird rumors around!”
After growling at Blaine, Eleanor hung on the railing again, looking down at the hall.
“I’m busy right now with a lot of things to do!”
“The banquet is in just two weeks. Shouldn’t you start working on it right away? Do you have a plan?”
“Yes, I do. I’ve pretty much finished the concept.” Eleanor sounded confident, but Blaine looked anxious.
“Can you tell me about this concept?”
“The banquet will be prepared along with the mansion’s redecoration. This is on the busiest street in Felicity. So, something that might be a bit polarizing probably wouldn’t be a good idea.”
“Then what is the theme that will run through the banquet?”
Eleanor’s beautiful eyes shone as she answered confidently. “‘Look at this. I have so much money.'”
Blaine’s expression crumpled, not at all the reaction Eleanor had expected. “…And the Duchess agreed to that?”
“She loved it. Not looking stingy is one of the main virtues of a businesswoman, you know.”
“What kind of theme is that? A nouveau riche look with jewels plastered everywhere? Or are you just going to throw money at people to win them over?”
“It’s not that tacky.” Eleanor waved her finger and narrowed her eyes. “A person who knows how to spend money spends it well. You’ll just have to see how I do it.”
Despite her assurance, Blaine’s expression grew more doubtful, but he didn’t argue further. Instead, he said, “I don’t care about anything else, just promise you won’t go on a lavish shopping spree on Pamblico Avenue.”
“When it comes to goods, Pamblico Avenue is the best, hands down.”
As Blaine stared at her in shock and was about to start nagging again, Eleanor quickly darted backward.
“Well, I’m going to get to work now.”
“Hey! Promise me you won’t do anything dangerous!”
