I Was Sleep-Deprived at a Matchmaking Meeting and Ended Up Engaged - Chapter 4
As Ayato turned toward her, Hamako made a mouth movement that suggested she was about to loudly say something when Yuya spoke.
“Ah, Murakami-san. I need some yellow sticky notes – the usual kind.”
Only then did Hamako finally make a face like she’d noticed Yuya.
Smiling down at Hamako from his tall height, Yuya made her blush as she asked back, “Ah, the slightly larger ones?”
“Yeah, yeah. As expected of Murakami-san. You always understand right away, it’s such a help~”
“Eh? No way, that’s not true.”
Hamako gave Keiki a slight bow of her head before happily heading toward Yuya and the general affairs department.
Yuya looked back and with just his mouth movements said, ‘LATER TREAT YOU SOMETHING’
…I’ll treat you to plenty.
Just as I was deeply thanking Yuya in my heart, Keiki spoke.
“Are you free now?”
Since we were at work, there was no way I was free.
“I got tickets we can use at the relaxation room. How about some coffee?”
“But right now—”
Ayato started to say, but
“Fujimiya-kun! You should join them! I’ll let Section Chief Tanezaki know!”
came a voice from behind.
Looking, I saw the company president standing together with his secretary, Hishikawa.
…Eh, the president? Even though we hardly ever talk, you remember me?
I thought, but more than that, I was bothered by how the president seemed to be unusually considerate toward Keiki.
The president cheerfully asked Keiki, “Is everyone doing well? I saw Kai-san the other day.”
The two exchanged recent updates for a while.
Ayato felt awkward with nothing to do and stepped back slightly to listen.
Then Hishikawa, the president’s secretary whom everyone called the intellectual glasses hottie, smoothly approached.
“I happened to overhear earlier – are you and Keiki-san getting married, Fujimiya?”
“…Well~, who knows? I gave an ambiguous reply and got a subtle look in return.
Just then, the two men finished their conversation.
“Well then, take your time. Fujimiya-kun, try not to make any blunders. Ah no, that was unnecessary of me. Keiki-san, please take good care of Fujimiya-kun. He was our promising young employee, you know.”
Was?
Past tense!?
Did I do something?
I looked at the president, but he just cheerfully told Keiki “Well then, see you later” and left.
Keiki had somehow come to stand beside Ayato.
Since Keiki bowed deeply, Ayato matched him with a bow of his own.
As he was leaving, the president said, “It was a somewhat unexpected combination. But when you two stand together, you make quite a picture. It fits well. You’re a well-matched couple.”
…I don’t feel like anything fits well at all, Ayato thought as he raised his head.
His eyes met Keiki’s.
“Well then, shall we go?”
Keiki said curtly.
