I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 30
Li Ling nearly laughed in disbelief at Fan Chunyi’s words. “Sorry, your styling isn’t within my scope of work.”
After saying this, Li Ling nodded to Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu, ignored Fan Chunyi completely, and left directly.
Fan Chunyi flushed with anger, her face turning red. “Professor Que, why is she targeting me?”
Before Que Hanfu could respond, Zhu Xinya spoke up with a surprised expression, “Xiao Fan, how could you think that? Sister Li is Qi Zhou’s exclusive stylist. She only did makeup for me and my sister as a favor to Qi Zhou. Not doing your makeup really isn’t personal.”
Though Zhu Xinya’s explanation was thorough, Fan Chunyi acted as if she hadn’t heard a word. Tears quickly welled up in her eyes as she pitifully said to Que Hanfu, “Professor Que, even if she’s Qi Zhou’s stylist, there are three of us in this dressing room. She only did makeup for you and Zhu Xinya, skipping me alone isn’t that just looking down on me because I’m an unknown actress? I thought things would improve in the crew after that casting couch incident, but even the stylist looks down on people. Wuwu, I’m so upset.”
Cold, aloof women usually like delicate, vulnerable girls. By crying pitifully in front of Que Hanfu, she might evoke some sympathy from her.
Fan Chunyi had it all planned out perfectly, but unfortunately, Que Hanfu cared for no one except Zhu Xinya. Even if Fan Chunyi cried in front of her all day, she wouldn’t notice or if she did, she’d pretend not to.
Zhu Xinya genuinely thought Fan Chunyi wasn’t quite right in the head, like someone who’d read too many novels and remained emotionally immature.
She had been mistaken earlier Fan Chunyi didn’t actually like Que Hanfu; she saw her as a conquest target. Every move she made felt deliberate and calculated, yet she seemed completely unaware of it herself.
If Que Hanfu could ever be interested in her, pigs would fly.
Once Zhu Xinya realized Fan Chunyi was a “fool,” she reverted to her warm, enthusiastic self. She walked over to Fan Chunyi and comforted her, “Xiao Fan, don’t be upset. After all, Sister Li was hired by Qi Zhou’s company. If you want her to do your makeup, you could hire her during her free time. If you offer enough money, she definitely wouldn’t refuse.”
Fan Chunyi cried uncontrollably, “No! Why should I pay extra? She’s just targeting me!”
She was stubborn and unreachable, as if she had no ears.
Que Hanfu found her crying grating on her ears. Taking Zhu Xinya’s hand, she said, “Since she can’t figure it out, let’s go out and give her enough space to think it through properly.”
Then they turned and left the dressing room.
Fan Chunyi, realizing that her crying not only failed to win Que Hanfu’s sympathy but had actually driven her away, was left dumbfounded.
Que Hanfu led Zhu Xinya straight to the director. The director’s eyes lit up when he saw them, and he said happily, “Your makeup looks great very fitting for the characters.”
Zhu Xinya replied, “It was done by Qi Zhou’s stylist, Sister Li.”
Since the two young women had come over and he had nothing else to do, the director took the opportunity to explain the upcoming scenes to them in detail, continuing right up until it was time to start filming.
When it was time to shoot, the director noticed Fan Chunyi was missing and frowned, asking someone nearby, “Where’s Fan Chunyi?”
The only reason he knew her name was because she was the cousin of his classmate, who had asked him to get her a role in the crew.
He had agreed to let Fan Chunyi join the crew because she was decent-looking and his classmate had repeatedly vouched for her. Coincidentally, the original crew member, Xiao Lin, had just left, so Fan Chunyi was brought in as a replacement.
Who would have thought that on the very first day of shooting, Fan Chunyi would show up late.
The director sent someone to find her, and before long, she was brought over.
“Xiao Fan, do you have any idea what time it is?” The director had already done his classmate a favor by letting Fan Chunyi join the crew, and he wasn’t about to go easy on her now. His tone was stern.
Fan Chunyi hung her head without saying a word.
The director frowned. She had seemed like a clever girl before, why had she suddenly turned into a “mute”?
Just then, the crew’s makeup artist walked over, looking exasperated, and said to the director, “Director, take a look at her eyes and you’ll understand.”
“Lift your head and let the director see,” the makeup artist urged Fan Chunyi.
Everyone around was watching. Fan Chunyi bit her lower lip and raised her head. The director’s temple twitched with anger at the sight.
“What’s wrong with you? Huh? How are we supposed to shoot like this? Do you think you can afford to delay the entire production schedule?”
Seeing Fan Chunyi’s red, swollen eyes, the director was at a loss for words. He took a deep breath and said, “Call Fang Xiaofei over. She’ll take Fan Chunyi’s place.”
“Director, I really didn’t mean to cry,” Fan Chunyi said, glancing in Que Hanfu’s direction before grabbing the director’s hand and starting to cry again.
The director was furious. He shook off her hand and snapped, “Hurry up and go change your clothes. Give them to Fang Xiaofei.”
Fan Chunyi had only joined the crew to pursue Que Hanfu. She knew nothing about acting, and even if her eyes hadn’t been a problem, she would have messed up during filming anyway. She had planned it all out crying in front of the makeup artist to gain sympathy, then getting scolded by the director right before filming so Que Hanfu would definitely remember her.
As Fan Chunyi went back to the dressing room to change into her own clothes, she felt no guilt whatsoever about delaying the production schedule.
She found Que Hanfu, sniffled pitifully, and said, “Professor Que, I really didn’t mean for this to happen. I never wanted things to turn out this way. I’m about to leave the crew now, but I truly admire you. Could I add you on WeChat?”
Her eyes glistened with tears as she blinked expectantly, pulling out her phone and opening the scan function.
She had already opened the scanner, surely Que Hanfu wouldn’t refuse.
Fan Chunyi thought confidently.
Zhu Xinya rolled her eyes inwardly. As if Que Hanfu would ever let her add her on WeChat.
Que Hanfu glanced at Zhu Xinya, a flicker of thought in her eyes. She decided to test the waters.
She opened her WeChat QR code and held it out to Fan Chunyi, who happily scanned it and sent a friend request.
“Professor Que, thank you!” Fan Chunyi was overjoyed.
But Que Hanfu paid no attention to her expression, instead subtly observing Zhu Xinya out of the corner of her eye.
Zhu Xinya’s face was scrunched up, her lips pouting clearly unhappy.
Que Hanfu felt a surge of excitement. Perhaps this wasn’t just one-sided affection after all. Maybe Yaya also had feelings for her without even realizing it!
Before the official shoot began, the director had Fan Chunyi escorted off the set. Since she had been introduced by an old classmate who said she just wanted to gain some experience and wasn’t expecting payment, no contract had been signed. Replacing her last minute was easy, and there was no fear of her accusing the crew of breaching any agreement.
Zhu Xinya, a former performing arts student, was quite experienced in acting. Although she was still upset about Que Hanfu adding Fan Chunyi on WeChat, she immediately got into character as soon as she heard “action.”
As for Que Hanfu, there was no need to elaborate she was a high-IQ genius who excelled at everything she learned. The character of the Holy Maiden of Light was practically a reflection of herself. All she had to do was memorize her lines, and filming posed no problem at all.
The newly cast Fang Xiaofei had originally been an extra, with plenty of acting experience. Landing a role with lines and screen time felt like a stroke of luck, so she naturally put in 120% effort to hold onto it.
Qi Zhou, the male lead, didn’t want to appear incompetent in front of the person he liked. The moment Que Hanfu agreed to take on the role of the Holy Maiden of Light, Qi Zhou began taking acting classes, even hiring a private tutor to coach him, design his movements, and practice his lines.
After one scene wrapped up, the director called out “Cut!” with satisfaction. “Not bad everyone performed really well.”
Especially Qi Zhou. Compared to his previous performances, this one could only be described as stunning which just went to show how poor his acting had been before.
Qi Zhou had practiced relentlessly to impress Que Hanfu, but after receiving the director’s praise, he felt a bit giddy. After so many productions, this was the first time he had truly felt the joy of acting.
Filming didn’t wrap up until 3 a.m. The director had initially expected it to go on until at least 5 a.m., but the actors were so efficient that they finished two hours ahead of schedule.
In high spirits, the director was pleased with everyone. Not only did he encourage Qi Zhou and Fang Xiaofei, saying they had bright futures ahead, but he also asked Zhu Xinya if she was interested in becoming an actress.
Zhu Xinya replied, “I’ve thought about it a little. Director, do you think I’m suited for acting?”
“Of course, you are,” the director said. “You have the looks, your height pairs well with many male actors, and you have a natural talent for acting. Sign with a good agency, choose the right roles, and you’ll definitely win Best Actress someday.”
Zhu Xinya felt a spark of ambition after the director’s flattering words.
She was studying economics to take over the family business, but she wasn’t actually interested in the corporate world. However, since she was about to start her senior year, switching majors now wouldn’t be practical.
