I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 11
Although the atmosphere was strange, Que Hanfu still carefully dried Zhu Xinya’s hair.
Zhu Xinya sat on the hospital bed with her head lowered, while Que Hanfu held the hairdryer, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. “Let’s go, we need to see the doctor.”
Zhu Xinya nodded, glanced up, and happened to meet Que Hanfu’s gaze. Instantly, her face flushed bright red.
She didn’t understand why she reacted this way she wasn’t usually the type to blush easily, yet around Que Hanfu, her cheeks always seemed to heat up.
Zhu Xinya placed her hands on the bed and stood up. Remembering her weak legs, Que Hanfu wrapped the hairdryer cord and held it in one hand while extending the other toward Zhu Xinya. “Hold onto me.”
Zhu Xinya bit her lip and placed both hands on Que Hanfu’s arm, slowly shuffling her way to the consultation room.
In her heart, Zhu Xinya knew that without touching Que Hanfu, her hands and legs wouldn’t feel so weak she could still walk on her own.
But she wanted to be closer to Que Hanfu.
Even if her body reacted strangely.
The doctor was a middle-aged woman wearing glasses. She asked Zhu Xinya to sit down and took her pulse.
Zhu Xinya sat on the stool in front of the consultation desk. Que Hanfu withdrew her hand and stood behind her, ready to catch her in case her waist gave out and she fell backward again.
Que Hanfu had never met a woman as soft as Zhu Xinya.
The doctor placed a miniature pillow-shaped object on the table and asked Zhu Xinya to rest her wrist on it.
Zhu Xinya pushed her wide sleeve up to her elbow, revealing a slender, pale wrist that seemed to glow. A few faint blue-purple veins were clearly visible.
After checking her pulse, Zhu Xinya quickly asked, “Doctor, did I catch a cold from the rain? Will I develop a fever later?”
The doctor replied, “You are a bit chilled, but your constitution is strong. It’s unlikely you’ll develop a cold or fever. I’ll prescribe some ginger powder, mix it with brown sugar in hot water, drink it, and sweat it out. You’ll be fine after that.”
Zhu Xinya took the prescription from the doctor, turned around, and gave Que Hanfu a weak, silly smile. “My health used to be really poor, I don’t know why it suddenly improved.”
“Mm.” Que Hanfu responded with a single word, her expression unreadable.
It was unclear whether she believed it or not.
Zhu Xinya, afraid of being exposed, grew anxious and avoided Que Hanfu’s gaze.
Wait, she hadn’t come to the clinic for herself!
The realization suddenly dawned on her.
“Doctor, please take a look at Hanfu. See if there’s anything wrong with her.” Zhu Xinya mustered her courage, grabbed Que Hanfu’s hand, and refused to let her leave.
Que Hanfu glanced at her captured hand, the smooth, delicate touch of Zhu Xinya’s fingers was distracting.
“I’m perfectly healthy. There’s no need for a check-up.” She tried to pull her hand back with a slight tug.
Zhu Xinya naturally wouldn’t let her succeed.
“No! You were soaked too. What if you’re physically weak? Catching a cold is miserable!”
She couldn’t say she suspected Que Hanfu had a stomachache, so she had to find another excuse to make her see the doctor.
Zhu Xinya held on tightly, her eyes fixed intently on Que Hanfu, afraid she might leave.
Que Hanfu frowned. The two stood in a stalemate, neither moving.
The doctor, having watched the entire exchange, suddenly chuckled. “You two have such a good relationship.” She then said to Que Hanfu, “Since your friend insists, why not get checked? It won’t do any harm.”
“Yes, the doctor is right. Hanfu, just let her check~” Zhu Xinya’s voice was soft and sweet, almost like a coquettish plea, as she took the opportunity to gently shake Que Hanfu’s hand.
Que Hanfu ultimately gave in.
While the doctor was taking Que Hanfu’s pulse, Zhu Xinya was even more nervous than Que Hanfu herself, staring unblinkingly with her hands tightly clasped together.
After finishing the pulse check, the doctor looked up to speak with Que Hanfu but, noticing Zhu Xinya’s anxious expression, couldn’t help but smile. “Your friend here is quite good, she seems more concerned about you than you are about yourself.”
Que Hanfu glanced back at Zhu Xinya, thinking her nervous little demeanor was rather endearing.
Maintaining her composure, she asked, “Doctor, how is my condition?”
Zhu Xinya anxiously chimed in, “Is Hanfu okay? Could she have caught a chill outside and gotten a stomachache?”
The doctor laughed reassuringly, “Don’t worry, Professor Que is fine. No cold, no fever, and definitely no stomachache from the cold.”
Zhu Xinya immediately let out a sigh of relief. “That’s great! I was so worried just now.” Internally, she felt a huge weight lift Que Hanfu’s stomach was fine, which meant she hadn’t seen that message. Thankfully, she had withdrawn it in time.
Que Hanfu looked at Zhu Xinya, her gaze softening slightly.
Since Zhu Xinya was still in her hospital gown and couldn’t leave the infirmary, Que Hanfu took her dormitory key to fetch a change of clothes for her.
Zhu Xinya felt immensely guilty. Why was her perfect goddess reduced to running errands for her? It was all her fault, why did she have to pretend to be sick? And she was so foolish to have forgotten her umbrella when she went out.
As Que Hanfu was leaving, Zhu Xinya looked so worried and remorseful that Que Hanfu almost felt as if she were heading to the battlefield rather than just fetching clothes.
“Don’t be afraid, I’ll be back soon,” Que Hanfu said, thinking Zhu Xinya was scared of being alone in the infirmary.
Zhu Xinya watched Que Hanfu depart with reluctant eyes, sighed, and then flopped back onto the hospital bed, lost in thought.
When the nurse came in with a cup of brown sugar ginger tea, she was surprised to see Zhu Xinya’s dejected state. “What’s wrong? You seemed so lively earlier.”
Zhu Xinya sat up, propping her chin in her hands. “Professor Que is so good to me. I have to be extra, extra good to her in the future.”
The nurse chuckled. “You should say that to Professor Que in person.”
Zhu Xinya took the ginger tea, blew on it gently, and sipped it until it was finished.
The nurse took the empty cup and, before leaving the private room, remarked, “I always thought Professor Que was cold to everyone, but she’s so gentle with you. Bringing you to the infirmary, helping you change and dry your hair, even going to your dorm to get your clothes.”
After the nurse left, Zhu Xinya pondered her words.
It was true Que Hanfu treated her exceptionally well.
Could it be because she was a transmigrator, the chosen one?
Zhu Xinya covered her face with her hands, feeling a little thrill of excitement.
When Que Hanfu returned with the clothes, she found Zhu Xinya lying on the hospital bed, hands over her face, lost in thought, with a faint blush spreading from her ears down to her neck.
“Your clothes,” Que Hanfu said, walking over and placing them on Zhu Xinya.
Hearing Que Hanfu’s voice, Zhu Xinya immediately sat up, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Hanfu, you’re back!” Her pink lips curved into a smile, revealing two neat rows of small white teeth.
Que Hanfu’s breath hitched slightly, her usually steady heartbeat suddenly skipping a few beats.
“Yes, I’m back,” Que Hanfu said, her deep eyes fixed intently on Zhu Xinya.
