I Snatched the Overbearing President’s Canary [Transmigration] - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Tears
“Yes, it will. It will… only you.” He Shenyu no longer had the heart to consider anything else. He was at a loss, even foolishly using his palm to catch the tears falling from Ning Chen’s eyes.
Ning Chen looked at him, tears sliding down his cheeks, and spoke again: “You promise not to lie to me.”
Shenyu hurriedly responded: “I promise not to lie to Ning Chen.”
Ning Chen finally looked a bit happier. He remembered He Shenyu once saying he looked beautiful when he cried, so he leaned in, bringing his face even closer, and said: “Okay.”
Shenyu truly couldn’t take it. He felt like he had some strange kink; seeing someone as beautiful as Ning Chen cry was an absolute deal-breaker for his self-control. He’d be trapped just watching a video of it, let alone being this close in person.
Unable to restrain himself, he reached out a fingertip to touch Ning Chen’s reddened eye corner.
The damp sensation of tears fed back to his brain. Shenyu was nearly entranced, sighing: “So beautiful…”
The next second, he realized he really shouldn’t have said that. He understood Ning Chen’s sadness and insecurity all too well. After all, if being a “canary” was a profession, no one would want to be unemployed. If He Shenyu really wanted to get married, he certainly wouldn’t need Ning Chen anymore.
Though the reality was vastly different, in Ning Chen’s perspective, this was a perfectly logical fear. Shenyu understood why Ning Chen was so anxious; Ning Chen needed money and naturally didn’t want to lose this job. Moreover, Ning Chen was still young; it was normal to be frightened and hurt by Zhong Ai’s words today.
Thinking of this, He Shenyu quickly hugged Ning Chen as a form of damage control, gently patting his back to coax him: “Don’t be afraid, Ning Chen. I will always need you.”
“Really?” Ning Chen leaned in further, their faces almost touching.
Shenyu turned his head slightly, but his attention was immediately drawn back to that touch of red at the corner of Ning Chen’s eye. He nodded mechanically: “Mm…”
As he spoke, his focus was entirely stolen by the face magnified in front of him. How could someone cry so beautifully? Like morning dew scattered on rose petals, He Shenyu couldn’t help but lean in to smell him.
It was the unique scent of the body wash Ning Chen used. They were using the same brand now, but for some reason, the fragrance was exceptionally vivid on Ning Chen.
While He Shenyu was spacing out, his palm caught a cluster of teardrops. Noticing this, Ning Chen took his hand and let the tears spill onto the floor.
Ning Chen was currently half-venting his emotions and half-acting. Even so, crying like this was a bit embarrassing. He had worked so hard; why wasn’t Shenyu kissing him yet? Feeling even more aggrieved, he pulled He Shenyu’s hand to his own face and said: “Shenyu, help me wipe the tears.”
“Mm…” Shenyu was forced to look at him, his fingers wiping a few droplets from his cheek. New tears dripped down, sliding over his fingertips and all the way to his wrist.
He couldn’t wipe them fast enough. Just as he cleared the right cheek, tears fell from the left eye. In a moment of panic and impulse, He Shenyu leaned over and used his lips and tongue to catch a falling tear.
His tongue tasted salty. Shenyu didn’t dare think further, letting himself kiss the reddened eye corner. He had longed for this for a long time and simply couldn’t control himself. Ning Chen was incredibly obedient, closing his eyes and letting him do as he pleased.
Ning Chen didn’t move an inch until He Shenyu followed the trail of a tear and kissed his lips. This submissiveness sparked a bit of mischief in He Shenyu, and he lingered on those slightly damp lips, kissing them several more times.
This meticulous “work” lasted a very long time, until Ning Chen stopped crying and his face was clear of tears.
Shenyu gave one final kiss to the reddened eye corner and asked softly: “Ning Chen-chen, do you feel better?”
“Mm…” Ning Chen felt He Shenyu’s infatuation and was quite satisfied inwardly. He liked that He Shenyu liked him. It was best if he liked him more and more, until he couldn’t bear to leave…
Shenyu breathed a sigh of relief and was about to pull away. However, his shoulders were gently held down. Ning Chen slowly leaned in, his shallow breath hitting He Shenyu’s cheek.
Shenyu paused. He thought Ning Chen was going to kiss him; he was used to kissing by now and didn’t plan to refuse. But Ning Chen just stopped there, looking at him and softly calling his name: “Shenyu…”
“Mm.” Shenyu responded, his gaze unconsciously fixed on Ning Chen’s reddened eye corner. That patch of skin had been wiped and kissed by him, yet it remained a striking red.
“What do you want to say?” Shenyu felt a sudden sense of urgency, and his mouth began to feel dry.
“Thank you, Shenyu, for comforting me…” Ning Chen’s voice was slightly hoarse, and his face drew even closer.
Shenyu felt he could kiss him just by tilting his head slightly. The action was so simple, so He Shenyu did it. Without overthinking, he pecked Ning Chen’s lips several times, then followed his heart to kiss that reddened eye corner again. Ning Chen’s eyelashes fluttered under his lips, so He Shenyu kissed the entire eye.
Following this momentum, his thoughts became somewhat habitual. Moving down from the eyes, he kissed across the cheeks. Finally, he returned to the lips.
This time, Ning Chen opened his mouth slightly to welcome him. Shenyu cupped his neck and kissed deep, their tongues entwining and lingering.
It should have been a very stimulating experience, and He Shenyu should have noticed something was wrong. But he had kissed Ning Chen too many times. Ning Chen was too familiar with his patterns; under Ning Chen’s deliberate pleasing and cooperation, He Shenyu was drowning in it, completely unable to think.
He didn’t actually sense any red flags; he was just following his heart, thinking he’s so pretty, I wanted to kiss him, but by now, he had forgotten who he was…
“Mmh…” The overly gentle kiss made He Shenyu sink deeper, letting out a strange sound of comfort. He was startled by his own voice and suddenly woke up.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself straddling Ning Chen’s lap, practically pinning him against the sofa cushions as they kissed. Shenyu instantly had a minor breakdown…
Ning Chen noticed him pulling away and opened his eyes. There was a layer of mist in them, and his lips were red from He Shenyu’s suction. Combined with his post-crying eyes, he looked nothing short of enchanting.
He looked at He Shenyu and asked with a raspy voice: “Shenyu, are we not kissing anymore?”
Shenyu swallowed hard, barely daring to look at him. He scrambled up in a panic: “I… I’m a bit thirsty. I’m going to get some water…”
Ning Chen was in no hurry. He let He Shenyu go for the time being, then looked down at himself with a bit of a troubled expression. He’d set out to seduce He Shenyu, but he had inevitably reacted as well—it was just that He Shenyu had taken the lead this time. He forced himself not to take control, only letting He Shenyu be comfortable.
Looking at it now, the effect was quite good. Ning Chen smiled with satisfaction. He would increase the intensity. It would be best to seduce He Shenyu into bed; how could a profound love affair lack a bed scene?
However, He Shenyu was the “Gold Master,” so he would probably want to be on top. Ning Chen was slightly troubled, but not much. He liked He Shenyu; if He Shenyu really wanted it, he wouldn’t refuse. Moreover, he was He Shenyu’s “canary” to begin with; if they had followed the normal process, He Shenyu should have taken him long ago.
Ning Chen stood up and returned to the room.
Lying together that night, He Shenyu didn’t even dare look at him. Ning Chen thought He Shenyu was truly shy; he wondered what it would be like if they actually dated one day? But that was simply impossible.
Ning Chen didn’t know why He Shenyu wouldn’t confess to him. To be honest, in their current relationship, a confession would be strange. If He Shenyu wouldn’t say it, Ning Chen certainly wouldn’t. He couldn’t do anything redundant. If he confessed and He Shenyu found the emotional entanglement a nuisance, he would be discarded. Ning Chen wouldn’t do something so stupid; he just wanted to stay with He Shenyu for as long as possible. He no longer hoped for more.
In the morning, Ning Chen woke up first. It was the weekend, and He Shenyu was still asleep. He could feel that He Shenyu hadn’t slept well last night, tossing and turning until very late. Perhaps it was because of that slightly out-of-control kiss before bed.
Ning Chen knew he was shy and deliberately pretended to be asleep without moving, giving him enough time to recover. However, today was a new day, and a new day required new tactics.
“Hah…” Shenyu woke up naturally, sat up, and gave a massive yawn. His schedule was usually regular; an occasional late night made him feel like he’d been squeezed dry, somewhat weak.
Ning Chen was already up; his side of the bed had been cold for a long time. Shenyu checked his smartwatch—it was Saturday. No school, where did Ning Chen go? Was he in the living room?
Shenyu scratched his hair, struggled out of bed, and reflexively folded the duvet. He didn’t go looking for Ning Chen immediately, but went to the bathroom to wash up first. After washing his face with cold water, he finally felt more awake.
The room was heated and not cold. Since he didn’t have to work, He Shenyu just found a long-sleeved crewneck shirt and put it on. He walked into the living room and called out: “Ning Chen, where are you?”
“Over here,” Ning Chen’s voice came from around the wall.
Shenyu walked around the corner and found Ning Chen standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. He looked different today, unusually wearing a white dress shirt. The sunlight was streaming directly through the window, making the thin fabric nearly transparent, faintly revealing the smooth lines of his body beneath.
Shenyu froze, stopping in his tracks. This shirt was also one He Shenyu had bought. He loved buying clothes for Ning Chen, but Ning Chen didn’t like wearing white; he’d bought two, and Ning Chen had only worn the black one before.
Shenyu hadn’t expected the fabric to be so sheer in the light. For a moment, he felt an urge to tell Ning Chen to take it off and change. But when he reached Ning Chen, he shut his mouth. It was Saturday, after all; Ning Chen was likely just wearing it at home. There seemed to be no need to make a point of changing it…
Ning Chen seemed to notice him looking at the shirt and asked with a smile: “Shenyu, what’s wrong? Are you not used to me wearing white?”
Shenyu blinked, momentarily dazed. Ning Chen was too close. As he lowered his gaze, his eyes fell on Ning Chen’s chest. The golden sunlight flooded his torso, and he felt he could almost see the pink underneath…
In an instant, images of Ning Chen standing undressed before him flashed through his mind, and his face flushed red. Ning Chen was acting a bit strange today; the shirt wasn’t buttoned properly, with several buttons at the collar left undone. Even the jade Buddha on his chest was fully exposed, the red string illuminated into a vivid, bright crimson that was highly stimulating to the eyes.
He Shenyu didn’t dare look anymore. He turned around to pretend to look at the view outside, finally clearing his head enough to answer: “No, it looks very good, Ning Chen.”
“Really?” Ning Chen followed him and stood in front of him, saying somewhat aggrievedly: “Does Shenyu really think it looks good? Then why won’t you look at me?”
