I Really Want to Pet My Wife's Cat Ears - Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Twelve Cats
The cat-eared girl was dressed in a water-green floor-length gown with a trailing hem, wearing an exquisite mesh beret, and carrying a lace parasol as she strolled leisurely across Cat Island.
Noble and elegant, she looked like a princess.
After unlocking the “Small House” feature, the system had provided two outfits, both mid-length sets in a socialite style. Compared to the other orange-pink waist-cinching mermaid skirt, this one was far more intricate and not at all suitable for daily wear. With layers upon layers of drawstring lace, it had taken Ji Mianmian a long time to get it sorted and put on.
Shuoyu felt that Ji Mianmian must be a calico cat. Her two cat ears were orange and white, and there was an alluring tuft of black at the tip of her tail. These colors were diametrically opposed to water-green, yet the dress didn’t look out of place on her at all. It’s often said that the success of fashion depends on the face; Shuoyu felt her cat-eared girl was exceptionally beautiful. Even standing next to a Lolita model with exquisite makeup and a dignified posture, she wouldn’t lose out.
“Mianmian, put your hand by your cheek. Good, your jawline is so beautiful!”
“Next, hold the umbrella. No, use the other hand.”
“Mhm, this pose is great. Now smile a bit more happily.”
Shuoyu’s excitement was ignited. She felt as though the game controller in her hands had become a camera, and the trailing gown-clad Ji Mianmian was the only scenery in her eyes. Ji Mianmian’s expressiveness and comprehension were better than many rookie models. This was Shuoyu’s first time being a “photographer” for someone, but she hadn’t expected the success rate of her shots to almost rival the times when she was the model herself.
The environment of Cat Island remained untouched by human encroachment; any spot could be used as a backdrop, and the island deserved some of the credit for these beautiful photos. However, Shuoyu knew that scenery wasn’t the only metric for a photo; more important was the spiritual connection between the photographer and the model.
This made Shuoyu recall the early days of her own debut. As she photographed Ji Mianmian, it was as if she saw her former self through the girl’s body vibrant, sincere, and burning with passion.
It was almost time for her appointment with Meng Xu.
Shuoyu reluctantly put down the controller and bid the cats goodbye. After applying her exquisite makeup, she picked out a water-green sweater-dress from the rotating wardrobe in her dressing room. Today, the color Ji Mianmian wore was beautiful.
When she reached the door opposite hers and was about to enter her fingerprint, Shuoyu paused and chose to knock instead. The scene of staring blankly at Xiao Ka this morning was too suffocating; even thinking about it now gave her goosebumps.
Shen Zhiyin, however, looked puzzled when she opened the door, pulling Shuoyu inside while asking, “Xiao Yu, why didn’t you just come in?”
Seeing her calm expression, Shuoyu guessed that Ka Ling had already left. She chuckled and didn’t hesitate to throw a jab, “I was afraid you were hiding someone in the room again. I didn’t dare just barge in. Are you two… dating now?”
Mentioning this made Shen Zhiyin scratch her head: “Ugh, don’t even bring it up. I blacked out last night; the car was driven back by a designated driver! I have no idea when Xiao Ka came over. All I know is I was drunk and slept very deeply! It felt great!”
Seeing Shuoyu’s playful expression, Shen Zhiyin became uncharacteristically embarrassed. She stiffly changed the subject: “Let’s not talk about that for now. I’ll tell you once I figure out the situation. But how did your talk with Meng Xu go? Are you really planning a side hustle?”
Shuoyu nodded, opened her Cat Island Diary photo album, and thrust it in front of her friend, saying shamelessly, “Yes, I have to earn money to support my wife. Look at her new clothes.”
The image quality Shen Zhiyin had seen last time wasn’t this clear or realistic; this time, it looked exactly like a movie still! Her interest was piqued instantly, and she took out her phone, nudging Shuoyu’s shoulder.
“This dress is so pretty. The game seems fun too. Send me the installation package!”
Shuoyu looked straight ahead, ignoring the request: “Sorry, Cat Island Diary has been taken down and registration has stopped.”
Even if it hadn’t been taken down, she didn’t want anyone else to see Ji Mianmian.
Because they wanted to chat, the dinner was set in a quiet private restaurant where the elegant booths were separated by rows of lush golden bamboo. Shuoyu loved this place’s spicy and sour tripe soup and ordered it every time she came.
Being tall, she had a good field of vision and spotted Meng Xu as soon as she entered. This girl looked basically the same as her photos; she had dyed her hair pink and dressed like a “hot girl.” Standing next to Shen Zhiyin, they almost looked like twins.
As a college student from a wealthy family with plenty of leisure time, she looked youthful and beautiful without needing any filters. The only thing in this world that could cause her pain was likely her academic workload.
“Sister Shen, Sister Yu, over here!” Meng Xu waved happily when she saw them, completely ignoring the curious gazes of passersby.
Once they were seated, Meng Xu first laughed and explained the mix-up from last time when she added Shuoyu and immediately confessed her love. Then, she shifted the topic directly to the abandoned art gallery.
Speaking of this, she said proudly: “My venue is quite large, right in the city center! I think the exterior is one of the best in Yunxi City, so I invited you here to discuss how to decorate the interior.”
She took out a tablet and displayed renovation photos of various photography studios she was interested in that she had compiled last night. Pointing at the screen, she said: “Classical European and Chinese styles are all over the place; I personally don’t like them much. So I found some I’m interested in styles with a sense of religious ritual, futurism, or fairy-tale vibes are all very good.”
As she listened to the girl’s wild and imaginative ideas, Shuoyu’s brow furrowed more and more.
