I Really Want to Pet My Wife's Cat Ears - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Eleven Cats
The duration of this interaction card was two hours.
Half an hour was spent playing and frolicking, while the remaining hour and a half was mostly spent by the Little Cloud Person and the Cat-Eared Girl diligently diving to find pearl oysters.
An unexpected bonus was that the system did not take back the wetsuit Ji Mianmian was wearing; in fact, the diving suit was now unlocked in the Cat-Eared Girl’s dress-up page.
The catch in Ji Mianmian’s bucket was also automatically added to the resource page.
After the event ended, the pearl oysters opened automatically, and Shuoyu tallied the total harvest:
White Pearls x67, Colored Pearls x18, Sea Cucumbers x4, Starfish x2, Cuttlebone x1.
She let out a small “Oh!” and a bright smile lit up her face. “Our Mianmian is so amazing. She even picked up other things while gathering pearl oysters.”
Shuoyu had been focused solely on the oysters; she hadn’t noticed—nor expected—that other seafood could be taken away as well.
But Ji Mianmian was a different kind of cat-eared girl. While digging for oysters, she scooped up any other valuable marine life she saw.
She was truly a frugal and diligent housekeeper!
Teased by Shuoyu, Ji Mianmian didn’t speak; she just lowered her head and smiled.
However, the “happy” and “shy” little emojis popping up over her head betrayed her true mood completely.
They spent the journey bathed in sunlight and sea breezes.
By the time they returned to the plaza, Ji Mianmian’s cat ears and tail had become fluffy again, looking soft and very “pettable.”
Shuoyu clicked through the two outfits that came with the purchase of the small house.
She said to the young girl, who was holding the “heaven-sent” new clothes with a look of bewilderment, “Mianmian, these are new clothes for you. From now on, you can change and wash them freely. Wear whatever you feel like.”
When she used to play 2D mobile games, she was always like this—she never dictated the “poster girl’s” outfit because she loved the element of surprise.
As a cat-rearing game, Cat Island Diary naturally couldn’t revolve around anything other than cats.
The outfits Shuoyu obtained, besides those that perfectly fit a cat-eared girl’s figure, also included styles for the cats to wear.
However, the favorability levels of the other cats weren’t high enough yet. For now, Shuoyu could only watch trending “cat dress-up” videos to satisfy her cravings.
Ji Mianmian went to take a bath, blushing as usual and not letting Shuoyu peek.
Bored, Shuoyu moved the controller to switch the camera view to the sky above the medical rescue station.
The three cats were currently chatting. She chose not to move the camera inside the room, opting instead to secretly watch the dialogue bubbles floating above the cats from the outside.
A-Jin was whimpering and acting spoiled: “I feel like my right eye isn’t as itchy anymore. Maybe I can see things now. Little White, help me tear off the gauze, okay?”
Little White meowed back: “No way. Sister Mian said to wrap it for three days, and this is only the first day. Do you want a dried small fish? I can go get one for you.”
Little Flower was making constant “awu-awu” eating sounds, with “greedy” little emojis appearing.
Little White quickly noticed: “Aiyah, Little Flower, stop eating! Your belly is already round and bulging; aren’t you stuffed?”
Little Flower: “I want to eat. Hungry. Little White, give me the food quickly.”
Little White: “Fat chance! This is for A-Jin! Go play over there and digest first. You can eat again when it’s mealtime.”
A-Jin saw an opportunity and meowed loudly: “Little Flower, I have food here! Come over and help me remove the gauze, and you can have all of this!”
Little White hissed, “angry” emojis popping up: “Don’t you two even think about doing bad things under my nose! Wait until Sister Mian gets back; she’ll spank your bottoms!”
Seeing them so lively, Shuoyu couldn’t help but chuckle.
If she didn’t read the text in the dialogue boxes, she would only hear them meowing.
She could never have imagined their conversation would be so intense!
In Ji Mianmian’s absence, Little White was responsible for looking after the other two, even though it was just a kitten itself.
Seeing that Little White couldn’t control the two fools and that its “angry” and “disappointed” emojis were increasing, Shuoyu didn’t dare just watch anymore.
She switched the view into the medical room and used the Greet action on each of the three cats.
Among them, Little White’s favorability increased the most by a full 10 points!
It clearly meant it was thanking her for rescuing it from the chaos.
Shuoyu was already aware of the high level of intelligence of the NPCs in this game, but strictly speaking, this was her first time interacting with the cats alone without Ji Mianmian.
The fluffy cats turned their round eyes toward the screen, looking at her from across the void.
It was a pity she didn’t have a cat teaser wand; otherwise, Shuoyu felt their gazes might truly follow the wand back and forth.
Seeing everyone staring at her with curiosity and friendliness, yet being unable to touch them, Shuoyu was incredibly frustrated.
To ease this “cat addiction,” she cleared her throat: “Carry on with your business. I just came by to take a look.”
The game’s graphics, projected onto the screen, had undergone an upgrade. Not only did Ji Mianmian look like a real person, but the cats also looked very lifelike.
Just like in a documentary, every hair was distinct and appeared incredibly soft. The texture must be amazing!
Seeing the cats retract their gazes—some beginning to lick their fur, others just staring blankly into space in a picture of peaceful serenity Shuoyu remembered the S-rank gift box she received for the S-rank interaction card rating!
She rubbed her hands together and opened the box directly.
A machine resembling a slot machine, flashing with neon lights, dropped from the sky. This machine also had Cat Island characteristics, sporting a pair of cat ears.
It had three display screens with constantly rotating colored icons and a lever on the right.
Shuoyu immediately pulled the lever, and ear-piercing music rang out.
The displays rotated at a frantic speed until finally, all three screens showed the shape of a heart forged of steel, accompanied by electronic fireworks.
Congratulations, Player has obtained a Mechanical Core!
“I can make the Exploration Robot now! Hooray!”
Shuoyu was thrilled by the reward. She immediately dropped the controller and hammered the sofa twice in celebration.
Before the gameplay upgrade, the only blueprint she hadn’t been able to craft was the Exploration Robot.
The newly opened trade shop run by No. 001 didn’t sell Mechanical Cores.
Shuoyu had almost given up on building the robot, so she hadn’t expected to get the most important component from this date!
She checked the material list and immediately switched to the trade shop, spending 2,800 Cat Coins to buy the remaining metals and parts needed.
When Ji Mianmian finished her bath, changed her clothes, and pushed open the bedroom door, what she saw was a cylindrical cat-eared robot standing at the doorway.
It was about the same height as Ji Mianmian and looked somewhat simple. Its head, body, arms, and legs were all made of cylinders. It had no facial features, and two metal cat ears sat atop its head.
Ji Mianmian looked up at the woman in the air with a look full of questions.
The Exploration Robot was just an NPC; Shuoyu couldn’t control it as freely as she could the Little Cloud Person in first-person immersion mode.
However, that didn’t stop her from being playful. After building the robot, instead of sending it off to explore resources, she manually planned its route bit by bit until it stood at Ji Mianmian’s door in standby mode.
With a joyful glint in her eyes, Shuoyu said proudly, “Mianmian, this is a new robot I built. It can enter unexplored areas for me to forage and collect. It might not look great, but it’s incredibly useful!”
Ji Mianmian gave her plenty of face by marveling at it, then remembered something and went back into the room.
Shuoyu watched as she brought out that white dress she didn’t wear. Finding that the size was quite suitable after measuring it, she seriously dressed the robot in it.
She patted its shoulder like a good sister: “Wear your clothes, and our robot can head out.”
Shuoyu had been immersed in the joy of showing off her hand-crafted robot to her “wife.”
Only now did she realize Mianmian was wearing her new dress!
Last time, the maid outfit only had captured photos; she hadn’t taken a formal photo of the Cat-Eared Girl yet. With this new skin, she definitely couldn’t be perfunctory again!
She impatiently set the exploration task for the robot and let it leave.
Her heart itching with excitement, she switched the game to Photo Mode.
