I Ran Away After Flirting with the Goddess - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Shen Lishu’s Weibo account was probably used for growing grass; she wouldn’t post a single update for ten days or half a month, neither for business nor to share her daily life.
She was happy and content in her leisure, while her group of fans had turned into “wife-watching rocks,” begging every day for this “missing person” to return.
In order to get even a tiny scrap of news about her, An Rongrong’s side account had even followed the Weibo of Shen Lishu’s assistant, Xiao Zhang, not to mention the studio and every actor or director Shen Lishu had ever worked with. As long as it concerned Shen Lishu, she wouldn’t miss a single clue or detail.
With this skill set, An Rongrong felt that if she ever retired from the entertainment circle, she’d make a decent detective; she’d never go hungry.
An Rongrong felt smug, feeling as though she was becoming increasingly talented and all-powerful because of Shen Lishu. She put away her phone and ate her meal seriously. Since Shen Lishu didn’t play on Weibo much, she didn’t feel right asking the Goddess to make an exception and follow her.
After the two finished eating and left the dressing room, Xiao Zhang took the empty lunch box from Shen Lishu. Seeing that there wasn’t even half a piece of carrot left inside, she looked up at her boss in disbelief.
Shen Lishu was a notoriously picky eater. Why did it seem like she had a personality transplant over the last few days, eating all her vegetables?
Xiao Zhang stared suspiciously at Shen Lishu, her eyes nearly turning into a CT scanner, scanning Shen Lishu’s stomach back and forth. An Rongrong stood nearby, guiltily looking around, terrified that Xiao Zhang would suspect her.
After a brief noon break of about an hour, Director Mao and the screenwriting team finished smoothing out the upcoming plot, and the afternoon filming was about to begin.
After retaking a few shots from the morning, the next part was the outdoor scene of watching a movie. It was currently July and the weather was too hot. The assistant director had the staff buy two crates of popsicles, calling everyone over to eat during the break.
An Rongrong took two and looked everywhere for Shen Lishu, planning to give her one. Even if she didn’t eat it, just holding it felt like it would help beat the heat. After walking around, she didn’t see Shen Lishu anywhere.
“Where is Sister Lishu?” An Rongrong asked the assistant director. “I brought a popsicle for her.”
Shen Lishu? The assistant director looked toward a black RV parked next to the set. “I saw Teacher Shen go into the car just now. Go check over there.”
An Rongrong followed the assistant director’s gaze and finally realized that the Goddess’s RV had been parked around the set the whole time. She froze for a moment. Shen Lishu had acted so approachable that An Rongrong had almost overlooked that her “Big Sister” was a top-tier star in the circle, a “Grand Slam” Best Actress, and a person who owned an RV!
How had she missed such a massive RV!
An Rongrong’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the black RV, letting out an exclamation of awe like someone who had never seen the world. She had long heard that Shen Lishu’s car had everything—it was essentially a mobile mini-apartment.
An Rongrong blinked, a look of confusion crossing her face. Since Shen Lishu’s RV was right here, why was she still accompanying her to eat in the dressing room? In this heat, it would have been much better to go into the car and enjoy the air conditioning.
An Rongrong didn’t know what she thought of, but her heart suddenly felt sour and soft.
She didn’t have an assistant, let alone an RV. Shen Lishu must have been looking out for her feelings, right?
Wooo ying ying, Sister is just too good! Is this what it feels like to love the right person? An Rongrong’s heart floated upward. She ran toward the RV with light steps and poked her head in. “Sis… Sister?”
After calling out, An Rongrong froze on the spot. Her foot was on the step as she stared at the strange woman inside, her expression awkward, caught between entering and retreating.
Shen Lishu wasn’t in the car. Sitting inside was a woman who looked to be in her early thirties, with shoulder-length straight hair, exquisite makeup, and professional attire. She was sitting in a single sofa with a silver-white laptop on her crossed legs. Hearing the movement, her typing hands stopped, and she looked up. “Who are you looking for?”
The woman had sharp phoenix eyes and a clear, cold voice. An Rongrong felt intimidated just listening to her.
“I’m looking for Teacher Shen,” An Rongrong replied obediently, tentatively trying to pull back her extended foot.
In just a few seconds, An Rongrong had already gone through a list of who this woman could be. She didn’t look like a friend, otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought a laptop. Was she a sister? She sat in the sofa so naturally; she must be very close to the Goddess.
An Rongrong felt a bit sour in her mouth. She didn’t just have to be wary of the male stars collaborating with Shen Lishu; now she wasn’t even at ease with the women appearing around her.
“She’s in the shower,” the woman said, her gaze landing on An Rongrong’s face, meeting her eyes without flinching. “Come in and wait.”
An Rongrong hesitated. She lingered at the car door, looking back over her shoulder with a look of doubt. The cold air from the RV’s air conditioner blew out onto An Rongrong’s exposed calves, feeling a bit chilly. Behind her was the steaming heat; in front of her was this cold woman. An Rongrong gritted her teeth and forced herself inside.
She was too curious about the relationship between this person and Shen Lishu. If she didn’t figure it out, An Rongrong definitely wouldn’t be able to settle down.
Under the woman’s gaze, An Rongrong boarded the car and sat on the edge of the double sofa opposite her, barely touching it, ready to stand up and leave at any moment. She gripped the wooden stick of the popsicle, quietly observing the person sitting across from her. Compared to the other woman, she felt like a stiff outsider visiting someone’s home.
The sound of water came from the washroom inside the car. The two sat facing each other in silence; the atmosphere was quite awkward. An Rongrong’s peripheral vision kept darting toward the washroom. She took the initiative to speak: “The assistant director bought popsicles. I brought one for Teacher Shen.”
The other party kept looking at her. An Rongrong took a deep breath and met the woman’s scrutinizing gaze with her clean, pure, large eyes. “If she’s busy, I’ll head out first.”
Too awkward. Her toes were about to dig out a 300-square-meter luxury villa for herself.
“Is that Rongrong?” The water in the washroom stopped, and Shen Lishu’s lazy, relaxed voice immediately rang out. “Wait for me a moment, I’ll be ready soon.”
Hearing the familiar voice, An Rongrong, who had been about to stand up, felt instantly at ease. She sat firmly on the sofa and answered crisply, “Okay.”
Her eyes crinkled into a smile. Deliberately ignoring the woman next to her, she held up the popsicles in both hands and said to Shen Lishu, “I brought popsicles for you.”
Click.
The washroom door opened from the inside, and Shen Lishu walked out while drying her hair. She had just finished her shower and was wearing loose, casual red loungewear, making her cool-toned white skin glow even brighter. The ends of her wavy hair were still dripping, so she rolled them up in a towel on top of her head. She sat down directly next to An Rongrong.
She took the popsicle An Rongrong handed her, tilted her chin toward the person across from them, and glanced at An Rongrong. “Rongrong, this is Sister Su, my manager. From now on, she’ll be your manager too.”
An Rongrong turned her head in a daze.
Shen Lishu’s manager?!
An Rongrong was shocked, her eyes widening as she sucked in a breath of cold air. This was actually the Goddess’s manager! The woman behind her success!
Speaking of Shen Lishu’s manager, Sister Su, she was a mysterious person who was rarely seen. She never appeared in front of the screen and only handled things behind the scenes. But the resources she chose for Shen Lishu were always the best and most suitable. Most importantly, she never let the Goddess engage in fake scandals or hype marketing. She was practically “Mother Su” in the hearts of the fans!
An Rongrong suddenly felt embarrassed. Sister Su deserved much of the credit for where the Goddess was today, yet just a moment ago, she was awkwardly comparing herself to the woman and guessing at her relationship with Shen Lishu.
How could she, just because she was queer, assume every woman in the world was a lesbian?
Hearing Shen Lishu’s introduction, Sister Su set aside her laptop, stood up, and extended her right hand to An Rongrong. “Su Lin. I look forward to working with you.”
An Rongrong scrambled to her feet. Hiding the popsicle in her left hand behind her back, she shook the woman’s hand with a flushed face. “Hello, Sister Su! My name is An Rongrong. I’m a fan of the Goddess, and I like you very much!”
Shen Lishu had been sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, biting her popsicle in a very relaxed and comfortable manner. Her posture was as leisurely as could be until she heard An Rongrong’s last sentence.
Wait, wait, wait?
Shen Lishu thought she had misheard. She tilted her head toward An Rongrong.
Didn’t you like me the most? Why have you suddenly switched to liking Su Lin the most?!
