I Quit Being This Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 53
Chirp chirp chirp—
Rustle rustle—
The morning sunlight filtered into the room through the heavy curtains. Mang Ke curled up in bed, opening her eyes sleepily.
The first thing she saw was a beautiful sleeping face. Xun Fangyun’s long black hair was slightly messy from sleep, spread across the white pillow.
Mang Ke let out a soft groan. She could feel that her entire body was sticky, the uncomfortable feeling of dried sweat.
“Ugh…”
She tried to get up, but felt a jolt of numbness in her waist and lay back down.
Never mind, never mind. After all, the company’s boss was still lying beside her. Why wake up so early? Besides, she only had two months left, so she should seize the day.
Mang Ke: “…”
Why does it feel like she’s going to die in two months?
Once a person is awake, it’s difficult to fall back asleep. Mang Ke simply kept her eyes open and stared at Xun Fangyun. She hadn’t gone home last night, staying instead at Xun Fangyun’s villa.
Intimacy was inevitable, and Mang Ke had missed her very much.
From the foyer to the living room, from the staircase to the bedroom.
Mang Ke couldn’t remember how long she and the person in front of her had kissed. By the time she came to her senses, she had already been stripped and tossed onto the bed.
The night of tenderness and soft sighs made the hours seem anything but long for Mang Ke.
Mang Ke didn’t remember when she fell asleep, but thankfully, everything was unchanged when she opened her eyes.
Xun Fangyun was still sleeping soundly, her lips slightly curved as if dreaming of something happy. Mang Ke blushed, wondering if this person was dreaming about sleeping with her too?
If so, would waking her up now lead to another round?
At this thought, Mang Ke became a little timid. She felt that being so suggestive first thing in the morning might not be good, so she quietly prepared to get out of bed to make breakfast.
Since there were no clothes for Mang Ke to wear in the room, she had to borrow one of Xun Fangyun’s nightgowns. Everything was fine except that the bust size was a bit too large.
Mang Ke carefully walked downstairs, looking down at the floral lace on her chest.
In the hallway, a small orange cat saw someone come out. It looked up, realized it wasn’t its owner, and buried its head back into its tail.
The large, fluffy tail looked exceptionally warm. Mang Ke leaned over and poked its butt with her finger. The moment she poked the soft paw pad, Mang Ke seemed to remember someone.
That person’s house seemed to have an orange cat just like this one.
Mang Ke: “…It must be a coincidence.”
After all, there weren’t so many coincidences in the world.
Shuffling her furry slippers, Mang Ke washed up and then strolled into the kitchen.
The refrigerator was much better stocked this time. It seemed that Xun Fangyun had been taking care of herself after Mang Ke left her house previously.
Early morning wasn’t suitable for too rich of a breakfast. Mang Ke stood in front of the fridge for a long time, finally making up her mind.
After an unknown amount of time, Xun Fangyun, who had been asleep in the second-floor bedroom, slowly opened her eyes.
The room was still dim, the curtain that let the sunlight in was hanging quietly, though the light beam had shifted its position significantly.
She sat up in bed, turned to look at the empty spot next to her, and reached out to touch it.
It was still warm.
Getting out of bed and putting on a fresh set of pajamas, Xun Fangyun went downstairs and smelled a sweet, milky aroma.
Following the scent to the kitchen, Xun Fangyun saw Mang Ke wearing a plaid apron, standing with her back to her, busy with the oven.
Mang Ke took out the cookies from the oven. They were warm, and the cranberries hidden inside the cookies looked particularly translucent. They would probably be very crispy once cooled.
“Baking cookies?”
Mang Ke was holding the tray with oven mitts when she felt someone sneak up behind her and wrap their arms around her waist.
Xun Fangyun rested her chin on Mang Ke’s shoulder, looking at the golden-brown, freshly baked cookies. She couldn’t help but chuckle: “They look good. They smell delicious.”
Mang Ke turned her head to glance at her and asked, “Did you just get up? Did you brush your teeth and shower?”
Xun Fangyun: “No…”
Mang Ke gently bumped her with her head and said, “Go take a shower! Don’t you feel sticky all over?”
Xun Fangyun let out a soft laugh, tightened her arms, and sighed: “Even if I’m sticky, it’s because of you. Why would I dislike it?”
Mang Ke blushed furiously, pushing her out and telling her to go shower first, otherwise she couldn’t enter the kitchen smelling like that!
When Xun Fangyun emerged from the steamy bathroom, the entire house was filled with the smell of cream, like one of those roadside bakeries with a strong scent of cream and bread.
Xun Fangyun walked into the kitchen and saw Mang Ke was still baking, but this time it was egg tarts, not cookies.
Silently, Xun Fangyun slipped over and wrapped her arms around her waist, stealing a kiss when Mang Ke turned her head.
Mang Ke’s hand trembled, and a half-eaten cookie fell onto the floor.
Xun Fangyun licked her lips, leaned her head close, and said, “You were secretly eating my cookies.”
Mang Ke puffed out her cheeks: “Nonsense! I made them myself. How can it be called sneaking a bite!”
“You didn’t invite me,” Xun Fangyun glanced at the cookie on the floor and complained mournfully, “and you wasted one.”
Mang Ke knew this person was acting petty again and couldn’t help but retort: “Then you bake them if you’re so capable.”
Xun Fangyun blinked.
Mang Ke chuckled: “If you can bake them better than me, I’ll listen to whatever you say.”
This person couldn’t cook or bake cookies, so Mang Ke felt certain she would win this bet!
But to her surprise, Xun Fangyun ignored the challenge and teased: “You are already mine. What else do you want to bet?”
Mang Ke was speechless, only to be suddenly kissed again by Xun Fangyun.
“They are quite sweet,” Xun Fangyun commented. “The cookies are delicious.”
Mang Ke’s face instantly turned red, and she chased Xun Fangyun around the kitchen several times.
Cookies and egg tarts, along with a cup of warm milk, formed their late breakfast that morning.
Neither of them planned to go out. They both huddled in the room, watching movies and eating popcorn, enjoying their limited time together.
Around 1:00 PM, Mang Ke’s phone rang.
Curled up in Xun Fangyun’s arms, she didn’t want to move, knowing that it was easy to feel sleepy and lazy on a day like this.
Ring ring ring—
The noise was probably too loud, so Xun Fangyun reached out, picked up the phone, and slid the answer button for the little sloth.
“Second Sister,” a child’s voice came from the phone. He said to Mang Ke, “There’s a parent-teacher conference this afternoon. Eldest Sister said she can’t make it back for now, so you come on my behalf.”
Mang Ke rubbed against Xun Fangyun, not wanting to deal with the child.
“What about Mom and Dad? Can’t anyone else go?”
“They work during the day and run the stall at night. Where do they have time for a parent-teacher conference? Eldest Sister always went before, but now that she’s busy, you just come.”
Mang Ke heard him clearly, and Xun Fangyun, who was holding her, could naturally hear it too. She said to Mang Ke, “We don’t have anything planned for the afternoon anyway. Go attend the parent-teacher conference for the child.”
“But…” Mang Ke felt lazy. “Fine, I’ll go to the parent-teacher conference this afternoon.”
“Do you want me to go with you?”
“Hmm, I probably don’t need you. What’s the point of attending an elementary school parent-teacher conference?”
While they were chatting, the phone hadn’t been hung up, and the child’s voice came through: “Second Sister, who is that next to you? The voice sounds familiar. Is it the one who sent the flowers before?”
Mang Ke: “Sent flowers?”
What flowers?
Xiao Zhe kicked a pebble next to the store’s phone and said, “The one who sent a yard full of flowers to us. So, you didn’t come home yesterday because you were sleeping with someone outside?”
Mang Ke: “…”
This child speaks too directly! Do kids nowadays know so much?!
“Anyway, Second Sister, you have to come. If you don’t, I’ll tell Mom and Dad!”
“You, you’re threatening me!”
Xiao Zhe chuckled: “It’s best if you bring your girlfriend too. I want to see which one it is.”
After hanging up, Mang Ke was still muttering softly about something, but she heard a cold, clear question from above her: “What did your brother just mean?”
Mang Ke: “Huh?”
Xun Fangyun pointed to the phone: “He said ‘which one.’ Does that mean you have several?”
Mang Ke thought for a moment: “I guess I have several. Why?”
Xun Fangyun pinched the face of the person in her arms angrily: “You’re thinking about other people even though you have me!”
That’s utterly outrageous!
Lawless!
Making trouble for no reason!
Mang Ke pinched her back: “It’s all because you always bully me… Ah!!”
Suddenly, Mang Ke felt the world spin. When she opened her eyes again, she felt herself being pressed onto the floor, her hands tightly pinned down, unable to move.
Xun Fangyun looked down at her, her black hair hanging by her ears, with a hint of a smile.
Mang Ke felt her heart pound fiercely, and she started to feel parched.
Xun Fangyun leaned down and whispered on Mang Ke’s lips: “What time is the parent-teacher conference?”
Mang Ke blushed: “It seems to be at 4:00 PM…”
“That’s still very early.”
“Mmm…”
Lying on the floor, Mang Ke felt a chill coming from her back and thighs. She could feel Xun Fangyun rubbing her body with her leg, making Mang Ke’s spine shiver uncontrollably.
Xun Fangyun used one hand to lift her long hair and rest it on her back. She said to Mang Ke, “Help me tie my hair.”
Mang Ke’s ears were red. She could still feel the other woman’s suggestive movements and couldn’t help but whisper, “Can’t you tie your hair yourself?”
“I can, of course I can.” Xun Fangyun chuckled. “It’s just that I don’t have a spare hand, so I can only ask you to help me.”
Mang Ke’s eyes were red. She tried to move her body, saying with difficulty, “Stop, stop moving…”
She tremblingly took a hair tie off her wrist, brought it around Xun Fangyun’s fair neck, gathered her soft black hair, and tied it into a ponytail behind her.
“Mmm…” Mang Ke bit her lip, tightly clutching the other woman’s nightgown, and closed her eyes.
“Parent-teacher conference…” Mang Ke whispered, “We need to go early…”
Xun Fangyun chuckled and kissed her: “We still have more than four hours. We can take our time~”
