- I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again
- Chapter 9 - The Chase Begins to Emerge
Yan Xingyu truly hadn’t expected Liu Ruoni to come and rescue her. Seeing the other party’s expression suddenly darken, she turned her head and saw that Yi Rong had caught up again.
Liu Ruonei sped up, dragging Yan Xingyu out of the sea monster’s mouth. She even activated her Yuling (Desire Bell) to summon the surrounding sea monsters to stall for time.
She hauled Yan Xingyu back onto the Blood Swallow, quickly dispersed the black mist around Yan Xingyu’s body, and fled swiftly with the girl. Her rapid reaction and the summoned sea monsters did manage to delay Yi Rong for a moment.
Yan Xingyu saw the troubled look on Liu Ruoni’s face, and, thinking of something, asked, “Do you know Yi Rong?”
Liu Ruoni replied, “We have some old grudges, but probably not as big as the ones between her and Miss Yan. However, it’s best we don’t confront her for now.”
Yan Xingyu knew what the other party meant. Feeling a little speechless, she retorted, “You really make enemies everywhere, don’t you?”
“Miss Yan, that’s a bias. If I truly liked making enemies everywhere, why would I save you?”
“Alright. Can you beat Yi Rong?”
“No, I can’t. Let’s head back to the village and find the Young Palace Lord Guan.”
Yan Xingyu remembered that while Guan Fei and Yi Rong were evenly matched, Guan Fei couldn’t defeat her either. However, with Liu Ruoni’s presence, perhaps they could gain the upper hand.
So she said, “Then hurry up. She’s catching up!”
Liu Ruoni glanced behind her and saw the black shadow rapidly approaching them. She’s difficult, as expected, Liu Ruoni thought. A whole group of sea monsters couldn’t even delay her for long.
“Miss Yan, I’ll focus on flying forward. You try to interfere with Yi Rong for a while so she doesn’t truly catch up to us.”
Yan Xingyu tried to gather spiritual energy in her palm but found that she couldn’t form it again. Embarrassed, she said, “Liu Ruoni, I’m out of spiritual power again.”
The person beside her fell silent for a moment, then pulled out a handful of Profound Spirit Talismans. “Miss Yan, how many do you need? I can give you a loan.”
Yan Xingyu was speechless…
Seeing the person behind them closing in quickly, she thought, Money can be earned again, but my life can’t handle any more trouble. She gritted her teeth and, with a heavy heart, took five talismans.
She immediately activated them. Watching the talismans dissipate, she felt her money draining away, but at the same time, her spiritual power was replenished.
She commanded Little Silver to transform into a long bow, gathered spiritual energy into an arrow, drew the bowstring, and shot towards the person approaching them.
Although it did interfere with the opponent, it didn’t cause any substantial harm. In fact, it seemed to have provoked the cluster of shadow fish wrapped around Yi Rong. They became more agile and charged forward, as if puffed up with anger.
They tangled around the flying Blood Swallow, immobilizing it. In that split second, Yi Rong appeared before Yan Xingyu. She looked at the girl, who was fully alert, holding her bow and pointing it at her.
Yi Rong’s eyes flickered slightly. She said, “This woman is a liar. Don’t trust her.”
Liu Ruoni laughed upon hearing this. She held her sword and stabbed from behind, saying, “The Young Palace Lord knows better than you whether I’m a liar or not.”
Yi Rong reached out and grasped the incoming sword directly. Her gaze remained unchanged, fixed on Yan Xingyu, and she said, “Be careful.”
Liu Ruoni saw that the opponent had easily blocked her attack. She thought, After all these years, I still can’t beat her. Thinking this, she turned and pulled Yan Xingyu away, flying off on her sword.
However, Yi Rong did not pursue them again. She just silently watched the two leaving figures.
Yan Xingyu looked back and saw this scene a long distance gaze. She couldn’t discern the emotion in Yi Rong’s eyes, but this time, she clearly felt that this person seemed to hold no ill will towards her?
Liu Ruoni sensed the anomaly of the person behind her. She said, “What, are you thinking about what Yi Rong just said?”
Yan Xingyu replied, “I’m quite clear on the fact that you’re not a good person.”
Liu Ruoni laughed heartily, “Then what are you thinking about?”
Yan Xingyu said, “I’m just wondering, is Yi Rong really my enemy?”
“It shouldn’t matter to you, should it? You’re not Young Palace Lord Yan.”
“But the heart in my body is hers now.”
“True. The demon child’s nature is volatile. Who knows, she might rush up to you one day and dig your heart out.”
“That’s why I run every time I see her!”
“If you’re so worried, then figure out a way to return the heart to her.”
“Why don’t you just suggest I go die instead?”
“Haha, I didn’t mean that.” As she spoke, some memories surfaced in Liu Ruoni’s mind.
“Actually, when I first heard that Yi Rong killed Palace Lord Yan, my initial reaction was, impossible. But it was undeniably her who led the demon race to conquer the Jade Ripple Palace.”
Yan Xingyu asked, “Why do you say that?”
A hint of a different emotion flashed in Liu Ruoni’s eyes. “I once stayed at the Jade Ripple Palace for a period. Palace Lord Yan was a very gentle person, and I liked her very much. Yi Rong did too.”
“But my purpose there wasn’t pure. I wanted to secretly learn the Yan family’s unique skill, the Yin’en Heart Method. This method is never taught to outsiders, but the Palace Lord taught it to Yi Rong.”
“After I found out about this, I tricked her into passing the method on to me. That’s why Yi Rong holds a grudge against me now.”
Yan Xingyu listened and said bluntly, “I would hold a grudge against you too.”
Liu Ruoni’s laughter grew more unrestrained upon hearing this. She said, “Haha, those are old matters. Yi Rong was quite innocent and cute back then. Who could have foreseen what happened later? Perhaps it’s just the inherent nature of the demon race; after all, they are a fickle, bloodthirsty species.”
Yan Xingyu suddenly thought of her aunt, who had a dual personality. She asked, “You also cultivate the demonic path. Aren’t you afraid of being consumed by qigong deviation?”
Upon hearing this, Liu Ruoni’s face lit up with pride. “The Yan family’s Heart Method can restore the yuan and clear the mind. With this method, I don’t fear a demon stealing my heart. That’s also why I wanted to secretly learn it.”
“You are truly manipulative.” Saying this, Yan Xingyu thought of something else. “What is your ultimate goal in doing all these things?”
“Naturally, the position of Sect Leader of Qingding Mountain.”
Seeing the undisguised ambition in Liu Ruoni’s eyes as she said this reminded Yan Xingyu of her former boss in her previous life, who was similarly cunning and flamboyant.
“Xingyu, only by climbing higher can you have more freedom.”
She shook her head, dispelling those memories. These two were too alike, but the difference was that she was free now.
Thinking this, Yan Xingyu was certain she had to cut all ties with this woman to avoid being tricked.
While talking, the two flew back to the village. They saw that Guan Fei was indeed waiting obediently in the same spot. However, the first thing Yan Xingyu said when she approached was:
“Guan Fei, do you have any money? Lend me some.”
Guan Fei immediately pulled out her money pouch and asked, “Miss Yan, how much do you need for accommodation?”
Yan Xingyu was touched by the gesture of pulling out money without a second thought. Guan Fei is better, indeed. Borrowing money from her is better than from that black hearted person, at least there’s no high interest, she thought. So she honestly said, “It’s not for accommodation. I have an urgent matter that requires money. Can you lend me six hundred gold?”
Guan Fei smiled and said, “Of course, no problem.” Saying this, she generously took out six hundred gold and handed it to the other party.
Yan Xingyu was incredibly moved upon receiving it. She said, “Thank you, Guan Fei. You truly are my best friend in this life.”
Guan Fei replied, “Miss Yan, you’re welcome. I am very honored to be your good friend.”
Liu Ruoni watched the exchange and chuckled to herself. Yan Xingyu quickly stuffed the money into her hand. Although Guan Fei was present and she didn’t say a word, her eyes clearly indicated, “We’re even now.”
Liu Ruoni smiled as she accepted the silver notes. She said, “Thank you for waiting so long here, Miss Guan. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring good news. It seems we’ll still have to make do tonight.”
Guan Fei replied, “It’s alright. You must have worked hard, Miss Liu. How about we switch? I can make do in the woodshed tonight.”
Liu Ruoni said, “Miss Guan, you don’t have to worry about me. I won’t be here tonight. I’m returning to Qingding Mountain.”
Guan Fei said, “I see. Then, safe travels, Miss Liu.”
Liu Ruoni responded, “Don’t worry.”
Seeing the little fox in front of her that Guan Fei still held lovingly, she said, “I see the little fellow has been asleep for a long time. Why not wake her up?”
Yan Xingyu thought of the little fox’s antics and said, “Please don’t. She’s too much trouble.”
Guan Fei stroked the quietly sleeping little creature in her arms. She liked her very much, but it was true that she became very mischievous when she woke up, which made her quite distressed.
Liu Ruoni saw the conflicted look on Guan Fei’s face and, thinking of something, said, “If she’s not tamed, a young demon can indeed be quite troublesome. However, letting her sleep constantly isn’t good for her either. I have a Soft and Fluffy Talisman here. Using it will allow her to move normally, but she won’t be able to exert much strength. Miss Guan, would you like one?”
Yan Xingyu immediately thought, This woman isn’t trying to…
Sure enough, the next second, she heard Liu Ruoni say, “It only costs one hundred gold, oh~”
Yan Xingyu couldn’t help but curse, “That’s outrageous!”
Guan Fei quickly pulled out a hundred gold silver note and said, “I want it. Thank you, Miss Liu.”
Seeing Liu Ruoni accept the silver note with a mischievous smile, Yan Xingyu was heartbroken. Truly, no matter where you are, the unscrupulous merchants are the best at making money. Where did this woman get so many strange talismans? She wanted to sell them too!
