- I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again
- Chapter 7 - Sea Surface Skirmish Begins
Yan Xingyu watched the graceful woman walk over. After a night, Liu Ruoni’s complexion was no longer as weak as yesterday. Her eyes were fixed on Yan Xingyu, but the words she spoke were directed at the person beside her.
“Miss Guan, I have a boat here, why don’t we go together?”
Guan Fei replied, “Miss Liu, don’t you still have to catch the sea monster? We are just two casual travelers, you don’t need to worry about us.”
“The two of you are not familiar with this area, it would be good for me to guide you. The matter of catching the sea monster is not urgent right now. Besides, my junior brothers have already gone to search for the monster’s tracks. One more of me makes no difference, one less of me…”
Hearing this, Guan Fei pondered for a moment and said, “Then we will trouble Miss Liu.”
“It’s a small matter.”
As Liu Ruoni spoke, she suddenly let out an “ah,” saying, “I almost forgot about this. Since my junior brothers have all gone out, I haven’t helped the two of you find lodging. You can’t just make do with the same place tonight. I’ll go ask the villagers now if there are any other rooms that can be borrowed.”
Yan Xingyu saw the other party finish speaking, silently looked at her, and moved her mouth again. Understanding the hint, Yan Xingyu spoke up, “I’ll go with you to ask. Guan Fei, you don’t need to run around, just wait for us here.”
Guan Fei had no objection to this arrangement and agreed.
Thus, Liu Ruoni successfully led Yan Xingyu away. After walking a short distance, she took out her sword and flew with Yan Xingyu towards the sea.
Yan Xingyu watched the turbulent, surging sea surface gradually calm down. The sea, without a ripple, gave her an unsettling feeling. She wondered where Liu Ruoni was taking her.
She said, “What are you bringing me here to do?”
Liu Ruoni said, “Naturally, it is to fulfill the agreement between us. Don’t worry, I am a woman of my word. I will only ask the Little Palace Master to do one thing, and I won’t ask you to do a second.”
Yan Xingyu scoffed, “You clearly know I’m not her, don’t call me by that title.”
Liu Ruoni smiled and said, “Fine, Miss Yan, look, who is that?”
Yan Xingyu followed Liu Ruoni’s gaze. Not far ahead on the sea surface were her junior brothers and their group.
She saw Li Mufeng standing at the bow of the boat setting up a formation, with the other two assisting him beside her. It was then that she noticed a huge shadow slowly surfacing beneath the sea surface, which had become smooth like a mirror.
Yan Xingyu asked, “Is that the sea monster you are trying to catch?”
Liu Ruoni looked at the people below, revealing a meaningful smile, and said, “Yes, and no.”
With that, she bit her fingertip, drawing a flying swallow in the air composed of blood-formed hands, and sent it flying downwards.
Despite being a cultivator, the method she employed was very evil; this person was a demonic cultivator.
Yan Xingyu’s eyes flickered as she watched the wings, which were transformed from blood hands, continuously grow larger. It descended from the sky and firmly grabbed the formation set up by the crowd below.
The originally calm sea surface suddenly became violently windy. The boat where Li Mufeng and his group were staying was spun around by the strong, strange wind, forming a vortex at the center of the sea.
Li Mufeng wanted to take down the formation but found he couldn’t. Even they were confined by this blood swallow of unknown origin.
Everyone could only spin with the boat amidst the waves. They could see the sea monster lurking nearby, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Liu Ruoni saw that her junior brothers were trapped in the sea vortex and said, “Miss Yan, now is the time for you to make an appointment with my good junior brother.”
Yan Xingyu raised an eyebrow and asked, “How do I make the appointment?”
Liu Ruoni took out one of her blood beads and placed it in Yan Xingyu’s palm, saying, “Take this and hit the formation below with it, it will free them from their predicament.”
“While the sea monster is showing itself and the others are preoccupied, you tell Li Mufeng that you saw the person who released the blood swallow. Bring him to me; I’ll be waiting for you thirty li north on the sea.”
Yan Xingyu said, “I can do that, but there’s a problem. I might not have enough spiritual power to fly thirty li.”
Liu Ruoni heard this and looked surprised, saying, “Miss Yan, are you so weak that you don’t even have that much spiritual power now?”
Yan Xingyu hummed, looking as if to say, “This is how I am now.” Liu Ruoni smiled and took out two talismans, handing them to her.
“Profound Spirit Talismans. They can temporarily boost your spiritual power. These talismans are very expensive, Miss Yan, so use them sparingly.”
Yan Xingyu saw that there was a prop, so she was fine now. She took them and said, “Alright, I’m going.”
With that, she burned one talisman. The external aid was indeed useful. In an instant, she felt her body filled with immense strength, and even the sleeping Little Silver woke up due to the sensation.
Little Silver excitedly asked, “Master, what’s going on? Has your spiritual power recovered?”
Because her spiritual power was truly weak, to be useful at a critical moment, she had Little Silver go to sleep without being summoned to save spiritual power consumption.
Otherwise, if something happened, both she and her pet would be out of spiritual power, and they would be finished.
Yan Xingyu replied, “No, this is an external aid. The spiritual power will only last for a while. Little Silver, take me down. Let’s make a quick decision.”
Little Silver thought its master’s spiritual power had recovered, but it was happy for nothing. However, it hadn’t felt such abundant spiritual power at its disposal for a long time. Even though it was only a brief moment now, it was very happy. So, it obediently transformed into a silver sword, taking Yan Xingyu and rushing downwards.
Li Mufeng saw someone descend from the sky and rescue their group from the blood swallow’s confinement. Seeing that it was the woman who came with his senior sister yesterday, he looked at the newcomer with suspicion.
Just as the group finally got rid of the restraint, the sea monster, which had been observing in the dark, extended its long tentacles, thick as pillars, and attacked them like sharp awls.
Yan Xingyu saw the fangs hidden behind the waves and its body covered in barbs, as if it could rush out and swallow them whole at any moment. She cursed inwardly, “This job is really hard.”
After dodging one round of the sea monster’s attack, and to conserve spiritual power, Yan Xingyu tried her best to flash left and hide, taking cover behind the crowd.
The slight gratitude that the group had originally felt was greatly diminished by Yan Xingyu’s behavior. However, without the confinement, they cooperated well with each other, deflecting many of the sea monster’s attacks, which gave Li Mufeng a moment to ask.
“Miss Yan, why are you here?”
Yan Xingyu, while dodging, followed Liu Ruoni’s instructions and fabricated a story, saying, “I originally came to the East Tai Sea to find something. I happened to pass by and saw you setting up a formation.”
“I thought you were catching a sea monster here, so I planned to look for a different spot. I didn’t expect a stranger to suddenly appear in mid-air and release a blood swallow to attack you.”
“Seeing that you were trapped, I thought that since you accommodated us last night, I couldn’t just stand by and watch.”
Li Mufeng knew the blood swallow was strange and that someone had deliberately done it. He asked, “Miss Yan, did you clearly see what that person looked like?”
Yan Xingyu said, “It was too far away to see clearly, but that person flew north on their sword after spotting me. If we chase now, we might still catch up.”
Li Mufeng was internally conflicted. He wanted to pursue the person who had secretly harmed them, but he couldn’t abandon his companions in front of him.
Shang Xiaoyue, the female cultivator beside him, guessed his thoughts and said, “Senior Brother, you go ahead. We can hold the fort here for now, it’s not a problem. Go catch the villain who framed us.”
“Alright, I’ll be back as soon as possible. Don’t push yourselves, always prioritize your own safety.”
After Li Mufeng finished his instructions, seeing that Yan Xingyu couldn’t help them much here, he said, “This place is dangerous, Miss Yan, you should also leave with me.”
“Okay.”
Yan Xingyu couldn’t wait to fly away from this troublesome place. Li Mufeng followed behind her. And just after the two left, the violently raging waves suddenly stopped, and the sea surface became calm again.
In the blink of an eye, even the sea monster disappeared without a trace. Shang Xiaoyue was greatly surprised. She turned to look in the direction her Senior Brother had left, and an ominous feeling arose in her heart.
A distance of a few dozen li was not far for a cultivator, but Yan Xingyu felt like she had flown more than thirty li. Why hadn’t she seen Liu Ruoni yet?
Li Mufeng saw only the endless sea line ahead, with no sign of anyone else. He asked, “Miss Yan, are you sure it was this way?”
Yan Xingyu said, “Of course,” but she cursed inwardly, wondering where Liu Ruoni had gone. If she didn’t show up soon, her spiritual power would run out.
Li Mufeng saw that they had flown too far without seeing any suspicious person. Worried about his junior brothers and sister who were still dealing with the sea monster, he said, “Perhaps that person has already fled far away. There’s no need to chase anymore. Miss Yan, you should go back first. I still have to go catch the sea monster.”
If Liu Ruoni didn’t show up, she couldn’t let him leave. It wouldn’t be easy to trick him out a second time after finally getting him out here.
Yan Xingyu thought that since Liu Ruoni wanted to plot against him, she wouldn’t easily give up. She would show up sooner or later; for now, she would help her stall.
Having made up her mind, she turned and attacked him. The distance between them was very close, and Yan Xingyu’s sudden attack caught Li Mufeng off guard. Fortunately, the opponent lacked sufficient spiritual power, and he barely took the blow without serious harm.
However, being stabbed in the back by someone was always unpleasant. His expression darkened slightly, his eyes turned cold, and the spiritual power in his hand transformed into sharp blades, attacking his opponent.
Although Yan Xingyu was low on strength, she was very agile. She dodged his continuous attacks with her sword and continued to run forward.
Li Mufeng remembered that Yan Xingyu’s appearance had resolved the blood swallow’s confinement. Now that they were alone and she was acting this way towards him, perhaps she was the one who had secretly attacked them just now.
Thinking of this, he chased after her, his attacks ceaseless, and he didn’t forget to ask, “Miss Yan, we have no grudges with you, why do you want to harm us?”
Yan Xingyu hadn’t spoken yet when Little Silver jumped out and said, “Master, your spiritual power is running out again. If this continues, you’re going to get stabbed.”
Yan Xingyu choked on Little Silver’s words and replied helplessly, “Can’t you wish something good for your master?”
Little Silver said, “Master, I’m just telling the truth.”
Yan Xingyu saw that she was indeed about to be unable to withstand the opponent’s attacks. She thought, “This won’t do. If I get stabbed, the deal will be a huge loss.” She deliberately shouted loudly, “Liu Ruoni, come out quickly! I’m running out of spiritual power!”
Li Mufeng was startled when he heard his senior sister’s name, and then his expression darkened even more, his attacks becoming fiercer.
The chilling blade shadows transformed and attacked the person all at once. Just as they were about to strike her, a blood swallow appeared from nowhere, shielding Yan Xingyu.
“Junior Brother, you are as ruthless as ever.”
A familiar voice came from the sea surface. Li Mufeng looked down to follow the voice. The woman riding on a giant blood swallow, looking relaxed and smiling as if she was greeting him, was none other than his senior sister, Liu Ruoni.
