- I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again
- Chapter 25 - To the Demon City for Healing
Her red hair flowed like a waterfall over snow white skin, and her gorgeous features were balanced by a pair of clean, clear phoenix eyes. Her appearance was like a flamboyant fire rose blooming in this lifeless, dark cave.
A fluffy long tail covered her lower body. Yan Xingyu didn’t dare look any further. Guessing who was standing before her, she shouted, “Guan Fei, do you have any extra clothes? Hurry, take them out! The little one has transformed into a human!”
Guan Fei had been standing aside with her head lowered, feeling somewhat dejected. Hearing Yan Xingyu’s words, her expression shifted from shock to urgency. She hurriedly pulled clothes from her storage bag, stepped forward, and handed them to the girl.
Jiaoyu took the clothes and slipped them on. She looked herself up and down; they were a bit large, but they would have to do. She walked over to Yan Xingyu, looked at the wound on her arm, pursed her lips, and said, “Your wound is very deep. Come on, I’ll take you all to my home to heal.”
“Huh?” Yan Xingyu was stunned. She looked at Jiaoyu and then at Guan Fei, saying hesitantly, “Little one, thank you, but… would that be too much trouble?”
Hearing this, Jiaoyu raised her eyebrows, her face practically screaming ‘Why are you being so polite?’ She replied, “You have a bounty on your head. Where else can you go?”
The reminder of the bounty made Yan Xingyu’s heart ache, and the throbbing pain in her arm forced her to succumb to reality. “Alright, let’s go.”
Jiaoyu looked at Yi Rong, who was standing nearby. “Are you coming?”
Yan Xingyu answered for her immediately: “Yes, yes, yes!” She turned to her companion. “Yi Rong, come with us.”
Seeing the expectant look in Yan Xingyu’s eyes, Yi Rong hesitated for a moment before nodding.
Seeing that everyone was ready, Jiaoyu noticed Guan Fei standing silently in place. She walked over, took her hand, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Feeling her hand held by another, the dark turbulence in Guan Fei’s heart finally settled. Her expression cleared as she asked, “It’s nothing, Yuyu. Where is your home? How do we get there?”
Jiaoyu scrutinized her, leaning in close to sniff her. Guan Fei felt that the girl was different from when she was a little fox, yet at the same time, she felt nothing had changed at all.
Tracing a faint smile, Guan Fei asked, “Is Yuyu worried about me?”
“I am not!”
Jiaoyu huffed and turned away. “The Demon City isn’t far from here. We’ll head out first, then go southeast for about a few hundred miles.”
Guan Fei agreed, then thought for a moment. “But now that Yuyu has a human form, I won’t be able to carry you anymore, Xingyu.”
Yi Rong spoke up: “I will carry her.”
“Oh, though this is a bit late… Miss, who are you?”
Yan Xingyu interjected, “Guan Fei, this is my friend Yi Rong. She’ll be traveling with us from now on.”
“Since you are Xingyu’s friend, I am at ease. I am Guan Fei. Please favor me with your guidance.”
Yi Rong nodded in acknowledgment.
The Journey to the City
With their roles decided, the group left the cave and exited Mount Changyan. Seeing Guan Fei fly off on her sword with Jiaoyu, Yi Rong stepped forward and swept Yan Xingyu into a princess carry once again, catching her off guard.
Before she could say anything, Yi Rong rose into the air to chase after the others. Yan Xingyu realized then that Yi Rong simply didn’t know how to fly a sword, which was why she carried her this way.
The flight was fast. The wind whipped against them, forcing Yan Xingyu to squint. Looking up at the person holding her, she noticed Yi Rong was completely unfazed. She even discovered a tiny mole hidden under Yi Rong’s right earlobe.
She instinctively wanted to reach out and touch it, but the pain in her arm made it impossible to lift her hand. She thought to herself, I wonder if Yi Rong knows she has a ‘wisdom mole.’
Yi Rong noticed the small movements of the person in her arms. Seeing Yan Xingyu’s face crumpled in pain, she whispered, “Rest well.”
Yan Xingyu nodded quickly to show she understood.
The two flew swiftly, covering the few hundred miles in just two hours. They soon saw high walls built of black rock, covered in thick, ancient vines that spoke of passing ages.
Jiaoyu jumped off the sword and pointed at Yan Xingyu, though she spoke to Yi Rong: “Humans are not allowed in the Demon City. Find a way to attach your demonic aura to her.”
After saying this, she plucked a strand of her own hair. Without a word, she stepped forward and tied it around Guan Fei’s wrist. She blew on it gently, watching as the red thread merged into her skin. “There, now you have my scent on you.”
Although Guan Fei couldn’t see it, she lifted her wrist to her nose, sniffed, and smiled.
Yan Xingyu watched their interaction and wondered what Yi Rong would give her. Instead, Yi Rong simply patted her head and said, “Let’s go in.”
That’s it? Yan Xingyu wondered. She didn’t feel any different at all.
Jiaoyu glanced at them, sensed that both their auras were fine, and said, “Let’s go.”
Though suspicious, Yan Xingyu followed them into the city. The inside looked much like a normal city, with one major difference: some demons walked around with animal heads on human bodies, while others fully transformed, chatted with un-transformed little demons about the secrets of cultivation.
The Jiaoyu Residence
They didn’t have time to sightsee. The group followed Jiaoyu quickly until they reached a grand mansion with a two meter high wooden archway. The gates were carved with various birds and beasts so lifelike they seemed ready to leap off the wood.
“Jiaoyu, are you some kind of young miss?” Yan Xingyu asked.
Ignoring the question, Jiaoyu pushed the doors open. Inside was a riot of color, exotic flowers and rare herbs were in full bloom. A fragrance drifted over, relaxing their minds and bringing a sense of joy.
“Little Yuyu is finally back!” “Little Yuyu seems to have brought guests!”
Before the speakers appeared, two delicate, bird-like female voices reached them. Two women, one in pink and one in blue, elegantly dressed and adorned with jewels, walked toward them.
Seeing their sister in human form, they were ecstatic. they circled her several times, laughing. “Our little Yuyu was only gone for a short while and already transformed? How impressive!”
“As expected of our sister, her human form is so beautiful.”
Jiaoyu, seeing her sisters about to ramble on, interrupted them. She pointed to her companions. “Eldest Sister, Second Sister, this is my friend. She’s injured. I want to take her to the Medicine Spring.”
The eldest, Jiaoyan, dressed in pink, exuded a gentle warmth. Hearing her sister, she looked at Yan Xingyu. Seeing the bloody gashes on her arm, she immediately reached out to examine them. “How did this happen? It looks so painful.”
The second sister, Jiaoyue, pulled out a medicinal pill and held it up. “Little sister, swallow this. It will dull the pain.”
Finding herself suddenly surrounded, Yan Xingyu looked at Jiaoyu for help, dazed.
Jiaoyu simply said, “Eat it. My sister is a famous Medicine Demon; her pills are quite good.”
Yan Xingyu looked at the pill nearly being shoved into her mouth. “Thank you then, sisters.” She swallowed it.
Jiaoyue smiled. “You’re welcome! This is the first time Little Yuyu has brought anyone home. It seems she values you very much.”
Jiaoyan added, “Little Yuyu’s friends are family. Don’t be a stranger. We’ll take you to the Medicine Spring now.”
Flattered by their enthusiasm, Yan Xingyu could only nod and follow.
Jiaoyu frowned at her sisters’ whirlwind energy. “Can you two tone it down? You’re going to scare them away.”
Jiaoyan laughed. “It’s rare for you to bring people home. Can’t we be a little hospitable?”
Jiaoyu countered, “No need. Eldest Sister, take my friend to the spring. Second Sister, arrange two rooms for us.”
Jiaoyue replied, “Don’t worry, Yuyu. I’ll make sure your friend is healed. As for rooms… Mother has invited many friends for a banquet tomorrow. There’s only one guest room left, plus your own room. So, you’ll have to squeeze together?”
Jiaoyu’s face fell. “Why is Mother holding another banquet? What is she celebrating this time?”
Jiaoyan chuckled. “Mother received a new dress and is very happy. Isn’t that worth celebrating?”
“It’s always some nonsensical reason. Fine, I’m not attending. Don’t call us.”
“Alright then. Little Yuyu, which friend do you want in your room? You can squeeze for two days, after the party ends the day after tomorrow, there will be more rooms.” Jiaoyan’s eyes scanned the group. She saw her sister point toward the woman in the cyan robe (Guan Fei).
She smiled. “Then you and your friend go rest in your room. We will take good care of the injured little sister.”
Jiaoyu grabbed Guan Fei and led her toward her quarters.
Jiaoyan then looked at the black-clad woman (Yi Rong) remaining. “Little sister, shall I take you to the guest room?”
Yi Rong shook her head. “No need. I will stay with her.”
Jiaoyan glanced at Yan Xingyu, who was following Jiaoyue. “It seems you two are very close.”
But Yi Rong did not respond. Seeing the confusion in Yi Rong’s eyes, Jiaoyan was surprised, wondering if she had said something wrong.
