I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again - Chapter 21
Thick tentacles lashed through the air, covered in suckers of various sizes. Each sucker acted like a miniature vortex, radiating a lingering demonic miasma.
In her arms lay a woman who had lost all color. With a deathly pale face and familiar features, it was Yan Rou.
Witnessing this scene, a realization struck Yan Xingyu like a bolt of lightning. She remembered, this was likely the continuation of the dream she had accidentally entered before.
The massive tentacles were frantically sweeping away surrounding demonic monsters, crushing them all, while their master attempted to repair the woman’s pierced body.
Amidst the constant screams in the vicinity, a gust of wild wind swept in. A woman appeared in the sky wearing a cyan feathered dress and a jade crown. Even from a distance, one could feel her cold, aloof aura that kept everyone at arm’s length. She spoke: “You demon seed, you are truly heartless. To think you led the demon race to massacre the Yulan Palace.”
Yi Rong looked up at the woman in the sky. Hearing those words, she roared in fury, “I did not!”
Another man appeared, riding a crane. Stroking his goat like beard, he rebuked, “This demon seed is overflowing with demonic energy, she is even slaughtering the monsters she brought herself. She has completely lost her mind. Why waste words? Everyone, let us work together to slay her.”
Guan Suxue watched as Xu Xiping eagerly flew down to attack. Her eyes shifted slightly, looking to the side as if searching for something.
Behind her, another man arrived on a golden sword. His attire suggested wealth and boldness. Seeing the tragic scene, he said with regret, “Palace Master Yan was a hero of her generation. To think she would die so tragically here.”
Seeing that the man bore a resemblance to Jiang Yueren, Yan Xingyu guessed he was Sect Leader Jiang of Mount Yuanming. If so, the other two were the Sect Leaders of Mount Qingding and Lingluan Palace.
“Are you all just going to stand by and watch? Come and help subdue this demon seed!” Xu Xiping shouted. Jiang Qilu flew over to assist him, and the two began a fierce battle with Yi Rong.
Meanwhile, Guan Suxue flew down among the corpses to find the person she was looking for. With a wave of her hand, she used spiritual energy to lift the woman. Looking at her face, a complex emotion flashed through her eyes.
Seeing Guan Suxue’s actions, Yi Rong grew anxious. Her strikes against the men entangling her became more ruthless as she slapped them away and rushed forward, shouting, “What are you doing?”
Incantations poured from Guan Suxue’s lips. A formation of countless plum blossoms materialized before her, with fine arrows shooting out from the centers of the flowers.
She said, “I will not harm Palace Master Yan. As for you, put down the Little Palace Master immediately.”
Yi Rong blocked all the arrows, but the two men behind her attacked again. To protect the person in her arms, she was forced to take several disadvantageous hits.
“Yi Rong, you ungrateful dog! You slaughtered my entire Yan clan, pay with your life!”
The sudden appearance of Yan Xiaoling shocked Yi Rong. Hearing the accusation, she gritted her teeth: “It wasn’t me!”
Emerging from the heaps of corpses, Yan Xiaoling raised her sword and cursed, “You dare lie? Put my niece down! You are not fit to touch her.”
The group synchronized their attacks against Yi Rong. Facing the relentless onslaught, Yi Rong began to struggle. She glanced at the person in her arms, seeing the wounds healing rapidly and feeling her breath. Her heart filled with relief, at least she was still alive.
Realizing she was outnumbered, she summoned a “Shadow Pool.” A massive sea monster with a fish’s body, a snake’s head, and six wide wings leapt out. Recognizing the Dream Fish, Yan Xiaoling guessed her intent and shouted:
“Yi Rong, what if you escape? When Rou’er wakes up and sees you, she will draw her sword against you!” “You are her mother’s killer!” “You might as well let her go.”
Yi Rong froze for a moment. She simply replied, “It wasn’t me.”
Yan Xiaoling signaled to the others, gesturing silently. Do not move yet.
She continued, “Yi Rong, you say it wasn’t you, but the facts are before us. Rou’er saw ‘you’ kill her mother with her own eyes. Do you think she will listen to your explanation when she wakes up?” “If it really wasn’t you, then prove it to us now.”
Yi Rong looked back at the four people watching her. Looking at the sea of blood surrounding them and the figure of Aunt Xiang floating in the distance, never to wake again, her eyes stung and her voice trembled.
“How… how am I supposed to prove it?”
Yan Xiaoling said, “Yi Rong, as a demon seed, your power is too great and can go out of control at any time. If you seal yourself, I will believe that you didn’t kill my sister or lead the demons to massacre the Yulan Palace.”
Without hesitation, Yi Rong agreed. She summoned a group of shadow fish to take Yan Rou and keep her suspended in the air.
She retracted all her tentacles into her body and reached into the Shadow Pool on the ground, pulling out a Fire Lotus. As the lotus grew larger, it extended a blood-colored core. Upon closer inspection, the core was covered in countless tiny needles.
As the blood red core wrapped around Yi Rong and the needles embedded themselves into her body, Yan Xingyu felt a pang of distress in her chest upon seeing those pained, sorrowful eyes.
She blurted out: “Don’t do it!”
As if hearing her voice, Yi Rong looked over. In an instant, the scene vanished, replaced by the sound of a woman’s delicate sobbing.
In the blink of an eye, she was back in the room filled with flowers and gauze curtains.
Seeing the female demon with a swollen face crying piteously, Yan Xingyu asked in surprise, “What happened?”
Bai Weiwei fluttered her wings and sobbed, “Yi Rong, I hate you! Who hits a girl in the face?”
“Stop peeking into my memories,” Yi Rong said with a dark expression. Seeing that Yan Xingyu was finally awake, she walked over and asked, “Are you alright?”
Yan Xingyu looked at her and replied, “I’m okay.”
Bai Weiwei continued to wail, “Yi Rong, you never want to talk to me. I only did it because I wanted to understand you!”
Yi Rong turned back and said, “There will never be anything between us. Stop pestering me and let us out.”
Seeing that Yi Rong was truly heartless toward her, Bai Weiwei gave up entirely. “Fine! You treat me like this and expect me to listen? Forget it! Find your own way out!”
With that, she vanished from their sight.
Without the demon’s crying, the room became much quieter. Seeing that Bai Weiwei had truly left, Yi Rong frowned. She turned to Yan Xingyu and said, “Wait for me a moment. I’ll find the way out of here.”
Yan Xingyu was no longer in a hurry. “Okay. Is that female demon an old acquaintance of yours?”
Yi Rong summoned her shadow fish to search the room for the correct exit. Hearing the question, she replied, “When I was young, I passed through here. She has pestered me for many years.”
Yan Xingyu nodded. “I see. It seems you really don’t like her.”
“She’s a nuisance,” Yi Rong grunted. “In the future, if you encounter her again, do not let your spiritual energy touch her spheres, or you will be pulled into her boundary. It’s very difficult to get out.”
Yan Xingyu suddenly understood. Her arrows carried her spiritual energy, no wonder she had been pulled in. “Understood.”
She stepped closer to Yi Rong. “But how did you end up here?”
Yi Rong looked into her eyes. Though she had the same face, there was truly no trace of Yan Rou in her. The eyes that were usually cheerful and smiling were now steady and spirited. She replied, “I was just passing by.”
Yan Xingyu couldn’t help but smile. “So, you ‘just happened’ to know my name too?”
“Yes.”
Seeing Yi Rong awkwardly turn her head away, Yan Xingyu guessed the truth but didn’t press her. She simply said, “Then thank you for ‘passing by’ and saving me.”
“If you hadn’t come, I really would have had to spend a ‘romantic evening’ with that demoness.”
Yi Rong remained silent for a moment before saying, “I will get you out of here.”
Seeing how serious she was and thinking back to the dream, Yan Xingyu smiled. “I believe you.”
Yi Rong looked back at the eyes still staring at her. She reached out and brushed against Yan Xingyu’s hair ribbon. A tiny shadow fish swam out. As Yan Xingyu’s gaze followed it, Yi Rong spoke:
“Next time you are in danger, hold onto it. I will appear.”
