I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 23
Shi Xingrao’s displeased expression toward Lin Yi softened slightly. Lin Shuangran had been so good to her; even if she wanted to act out, she didn’t want to cause Lin Shuangran too much trouble.
Besides, she genuinely needed Lin Yi’s help with something.
In this world, she didn’t have enough resources to stand up to Lu Ze on equal footing she still needed the resources in Lin Yi’s hands.
“Are you still staying here?” Lin Yi looked at Lin Shuangran and spoke unhurriedly. “Wouldn’t it be better to let the two of them fend for themselves here?”
“I plan to transfer my father to another hospital. Auntie and Xiao Yu will probably go with him.”
Lin Yi chuckled. “So, you’ve finally made up your mind to send these two troublemakers away?”
Now that she had Shi Xingrao by her side, she could afford to be a little more reckless herself, but she didn’t want Shi Xingrao to follow her lead in recklessness.
Moreover, she no longer wanted to accept their arrangements and become a pawn in a marriage alliance.
“It’ll be better to send them away.”
Lin Yi nodded in agreement.
“I need to head back now. Should I take Shi Xingrao with me, or do you want her to wait here for you?” Lin Yi casually added.
Lin Shuangran turned to look at Shi Xingrao. “This matter won’t be resolved anytime soon. Raorao, would you mind going back with Sister Lin Yi?”
Shi Xingrao had been thinking about how to find an opportunity to discuss her plans with Lin Yi.
Now that the chance had presented itself, Shi Xingrao obediently nodded. “Then I’ll go back first and wait for you at home, Sister.”
Lin Yi raised an eyebrow, surprised that Shi Xingrao had agreed to go back with her.
She wondered what this cunning little fox was scheming now.
As the two of them reached the hospital lobby, a familiar figure appeared before them. However, that figure seemed flustered and didn’t notice them.
Shi Xingrao and Lin Yi exchanged a knowing glance. Lin Yi took a step forward. “Well, well, Auntie, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the ward taking care of the old man?”
Lin Yi’s sudden voice startled the woman, causing her to step back and bump into Shi Xingrao. Shi Xingrao curled her lips into a faint smile. “Auntie, what a coincidence.”
Seeing Shi Xingrao, the stepmother averted her gaze. The memory of Shi Xingrao dealing with Lin Yu yesterday seemed to flash before her eyes. Her hands trembled, and the documents she was holding scattered all over the floor.
Shi Xingrao blinked her eyes innocently. “Auntie, am I really that scary? If you’re this afraid of me, Sister will think I’ve been treating you poorly.”
Hearing Shi Xingrao’s manipulative words, the woman felt as if she had swallowed a fly disgusted but unable to say anything. She simply lowered her head to pick up the documents on the floor.
Shi Xingrao’s gaze swept over the documents. When she saw Lin Fu’s name on them, a faint, ambiguous smile tugged at her lips.
Just as she had guessed, what a pair of husband and wife, each scrambling to save their own skin when disaster struck. Their mutual scheming was truly something else.
After gathering the documents, the woman paused, her movements halting. She whispered, “Miss Shi, I won’t say anything to Lin Shuangran. You can rest assured.”
What could she possibly say? Shi Xingrao was a little lunatic. Besides, even if she did speak up, would Lin Shuangran believe her?
Having played the manipulative, two-faced role her whole life, she had finally encountered a little lunatic who was even more cunning. She was beginning to understand what karma felt like.
Shi Xingrao nodded in agreement. Just as the woman was about to walk past her, Shi Xingrao spoke again, “By the way, I have no objections to how you plan to take revenge on the old man. Whoever deceived you, you go after them that’s fair.”
“You won’t lay a hand on my sister, right, Auntie?”
“If you dare touch my sister, I’ll have no choice but to keep your son company. He must be quite bored all alone, isn’t that right?”
The girl blinked innocently, looking somewhat charming and adorable. Lin Yi stood to the side, arms crossed, watching Shi Xingrao issue threats.
Hearing that Shi Xingrao intended to harm her son, the woman abruptly looked up, her eyes red as she stared at Shi Xingrao. “Don’t touch him, and I won’t lay a finger on Lin Shuangran either.”
“I promise no, I swear.”
Shi Xingrao glared coldly at the woman. “Remember what you said.”
After the woman left, Lin Yi took a couple of steps toward Shi Xingrao and spoke sarcastically, “You certainly care a lot about Lin Shuangran.”
Shi Xingrao lifted her chin slightly. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
Her cunning eyes blinked as she tilted her head to look at Lin Yi. “Miss Lin, will your father die in his sickbed?”
Lin Yi lowered her gaze, her eyes resting on Shi Xingrao’s shoulder. Strands of hair lay slightly disheveled against her fair skin, and on her right shoulder was a small black mole.
It was indescribably alluring.
For some reason, Lin Yi suddenly felt that mole looked familiar.
“Will he?”
Lin Yi raised her eyes, her gaze returning to Shi Xingrao’s face. “Am I a murderer? What answer are you hoping for?”
Shi Xingrao clicked her tongue in disappointment and shifted her gaze away. Who are you trying to fool? The premium for that accidental insurance policy wasn’t something that woman could afford on her own.
Clearly, someone had dangled a substantial benefit in front of her, enticing her to make such a choice.
If it wasn’t Lin Yi, then who else could it be?
Who else would know if not Lin Yi?
When they reached the car, Shi Xingrao decisively headed for the back seat, but Lin Yi pressed the handle first. The woman’s tone was casual, “Sitting in the back? Shi Xingrao, are you treating me like your chauffeur?”
Shi Xingrao looked up at Lin Yi. “To avoid misunderstandings. What if my sister gets the wrong idea?”
“I’m not some heartless player, I only like my sister.”
Lin Yi gritted her teeth in irritation. Is she really that in love?
“Sit in the front. If you want my help, you sit up front.” Lin Yi opened the passenger door and gestured for Shi Xingrao to get in. “Let’s talk about your plan and what benefits you can bring me.”
“If you’re asking for a favor, Miss Shi, you’ll need to show some sincerity.”
Shi Xingrao gave a hollow smile. Sometimes she really wondered if Lin Yi was a mind reader. They’d known each other for less than three days, yet Lin Yi seemed to see right through her.
Not only that, but every word she spoke managed to hit a nerve.
Shi Xingrao’s competitive spirit was thoroughly provoked. She looked innocently at Lin Yi and asked, “What kind of sincerity are you looking for, Sister Lin Yi? You’re not coveting your little sister’s girlfriend, are you?”
